Blessings on this lovely Yule morning! This video was the perfect way to start my yuletide celebrations, and I am thoroughly enjoying it! I live in Florida, where its usually too hot, and dominated by christian beliefs, so videos like this are especially important for me. I often celebrate our (pagan) holidays alone, and I'm glad to know others find the same joy during these days that I do! For me, its finally cooled off enough for a cozy sweater, hot coffee or tea infused with herbs, and decorating my little crone cottage with pinecones, dried oranges, lots of candles and reindeer ornaments. I will do some baking later, as well, and build a big fire! Thank you so much. Your lovely thoughts and ideas are just what a lonely little witch needed, and you have a new subscriber! 🎄🕯⭐️🔥
I really miss having Norwegian risegrod (slow-cooked rice pudding) around the Winter Solstice since my Dad passed away. He would spend several hours on it near Christmas Eve; when the rice grains were nearly dissolved via simmering, he'd pour it into individual bowls, sprinkle the whole surface of each bowl of pudding with sugar and cinnamon, and then put a pat of butter in the center of each bowl. We were instructed to start eating the pudding from the edge of the bowl inward while the butter melted and spread out, as that symbolized the rebirth of the sun. He explained all these details to me about a year before he died, as he realized that I had a strong interest in folklore and mythology. So, basically, the risegrod meal was a kind of communal Winter Solstice food ritual that even devout Christians enjoy in Scandinavia... :)
How lovely that you grew up with this tradition! That is a really special memory - and maybe you can revive the tradition for yourself and your family so it doesn't get lost ❤️ There are many similar ones all through Europe :) I think I talked more about them in my New Years' video from last year. Sending you much love!

Hi Bex! I freaking love the candle holder made from apples and sticks, and of course, your homemade beeswax candles. Another lovely and inspiring video! ✨️ ❤️
What do you do between the seasons? Like in the time between yule and imbolc? When do you decorate for the next sabbat? How do you experience the in between time? Did you make a video about that?
Absolutely gorgeous video as always! I would love to see the instructions for the crafts separately from the historical voiceover, because they're both so interesting I find myself having a hard time following both at the same time.
Hihi I can imagine! I had to turn the volume down when I was editing 😅 maybe you have to watch it twice - one with voiceover, once with instructions only ❤️

Hello Bex, I am new to your channel, I really appreciate and enjoy how much you have taught me, about The Craft, taking care of my family and self. Your channel is so peaceful and inspiring! I work with candles and stones mostly, I do have Besoms present always, but I've learned more about intentions from you! Thank you 🪄 Linda. Blessed Be
I too decorate with lots of dried oranges and apples and pine cones and spices and cedar and pine branches! Love yule! That little incense burner is absolutely adorable and I love your pottery mug!! Where did you get these beautiful little pieces??
Decorating with all those natural things also makes the house smell great! 😄 The pottery mug was a gift from a friend from the states - I think she got it at home depo. The little 'Räuchermännchen' is very traditional Christmas decor in Germany - I got it at a local Christmas market
I will definitely never find a little incense burner like that here in Canada! I must visit a Christmas market where you are one day!! I should try Googling that word that you gave me and see what pops up. You never know, Etsy has a whole bunch of wonderful little trinkets to buy and maybe I can find one :)
I always burn my oranges when trying to dry them in the oven (im afraid mice might steal them from the radiator).. Your video is inspiring me to try again xD Also loved the story about Straw, and the dreams you might have when sleeping with it! It reminded me of a word In Japanese culture, a hatsuyume (Japanese: 初夢) is the first dream one has in the new year. Traditionally, the contents of such a dream would foretell the luck of the dreamer in the ensuing year.
That is so interesting! Thank you for sharing about that custom 😄❤️ in Germany we have something similar: whenever you are in a new home, the dream in the first night will come true
Hi! Loved your video! So inspirational! Question about the smoking incense holder…May I ask who makes them? And if you know where I might purchase one? Thank you! ❤
Hi! Thank you so much for these lovely videos. My daughter and I love to watch them together. She fell in love with a tarot deck you used in one of your videos around winter time but I don’t know which one. Her birthday is coming up. Could you (or someone) please help me figure it out? Are they all linked somewhere?
So happy to hear!! You can find them linked in my kit.co (the exact link is the video description under every video). There I have multiple themed folders with different equipment and tools I use. I believe the oracle / tarot decks are in the Yule gift folder
Hi Bex :) On your Patreon account are the meetings monthly via zoom for all to join in with a paid subscription? and is there a time of day you usually do these? Many thanks... Laura
Hi you! The zoom meetings are open to the tier 3 patreons only :) I usually host them on the weekends and for full or new moons. I usually choose somewhere around 1800 or 20:00 CET (which is morning / midday for the states)
Can you please advise me on drying the orange slices? I tried to make them today. I sliced them about 1/4" thick and baked them for about 4 1/2 hours at 200f. They seem hard but have a little wetness to them.
@@frankieamsden7918 in my experience it takes quite a bit in the oven - can be up to 12 hours. In a hot, dry climate you can air-dry them (takes multiple days). Or if you have an air fryer you can give that a go for 3 H on a low temperature

@@Thewitchescookery if my late oma had one, it must've ended up at my aunt's house. I'll have to ask her to keep on the lookout
Happy Holidays, I love watching your videos. :)
Thank you for another wonderful video that warms the soul. A Very Merry Holiday Season to you & your family...and to everyone here!
Same to you!✨🌲
Hello Bex, I am new to your channel, I really appreciate and enjoy how much you have taught me, about The Craft, taking care of my family and self. Your channel is so peaceful and inspiring! I work with candles and stones mostly, I do have Besoms present always, but I've learned more about intentions from you! Thank you 🪄
Linda. Blessed Be
That makes me so happy to read ❤️ sending you much love and wishing you a peaceful Yule
Thankyou xxx
Brilliant video Bex
Thank you and a merry Yule to you and the furballs 😄❤️✨
@@Thewitchescookery and you 😁
I too decorate with lots of dried oranges and apples and pine cones and spices and cedar and pine branches!

Oh my goodness my daughter just wrote that random reply! Haha
@@rebeccadysievick3125 hahah my worst fear everytime my kid grabs my phone xD
blessed yule
And to you!
I always burn my oranges when trying to dry them in the oven (im afraid mice might steal them from the radiator).. Your video is inspiring me to try again xD
Also loved the story about Straw, and the dreams you might have when sleeping with it!
Cool 😀
Hi! Loved your video! So inspirational! Question about the smoking incense holder…May I ask who makes them? And if you know where I might purchase one? Thank you! ❤
They are suuuuper common in Germany. You can buy them everywhere around Christmas time. They are called 'Räuchermännchen'
Wow, these red apples are beautiful! Never seen these in the store. What kind of apple is that?
Good question! I actually don't know - they always sell them for St. Nicholas here :)
I was wondering where you got the incense burner? It is lovely
They have it in every Christmas market or typical German woodcraft store. They are called Räuchermännchen

@@Thewitchescookery thank you so much! I did last night. The 3rd tier one 😊

Can you please advise me on drying the orange slices? I tried to make them today. I sliced them about 1/4" thick and baked them for about 4 1/2 hours at 200f. They seem hard but have a little wetness to them.
I always dry mine on the radiators to not waste energy. Takes a bit of patience and depending on climate 1-3 days :)
@@Thewitchescookery thank you for responding. I don't have radiators so I'm stuck with the oven.
@@frankieamsden7918 in my experience it takes quite a bit in the oven - can be up to 12 hours. In a hot, dry climate you can air-dry them (takes multiple days). Or if you have an air fryer you can give that a go for 3 H on a low temperature

Where did you get your moon coffee cup?
A friend from the states have it to me. I believe she bought it at home depo
