I have been having some overheating issues a year or more after changing my water pump (91 Toyota truck). And I am narrowing it back down to my water pump (no problems before). Is it possible for a new pump to go bad that quickly?
The kit seems to be a pretty decent deal. Rockauto.com always has good deals as well. I believe The bypass tube goes to an oil cooler (optional on I believe 92 and newer vehicles). If you can determine if there is an oil cooler then that would tell you if you need that kit. I would call Toyota and give them the vin. They should be able to tell you.
Thank You for your video, saved me time and brain cells.

Touché... That would for sure help in the leak department!
Use the metal gasket AND rtv grey silicone for a leak proof installation. Takes an extra 5 minutes, and you don't want to do this job twice.
how long do you reckon it took start to finish?
I want to say the entire timing belt project was about 4 hours.
