I feel that the song is best performed slow and sincerely, and I will admit that I didn't quite like this version - but I came around by the end of the video, because John just looks like he's having so much fun on stage, and it's contagious. I like seeing him happy and hyperactive.
Living through the described has an effect that is comparable; made me see the song in a different light. The faster version feels triumphant, like you will once you cast that one out.
