Absolutely. Harris ran in 2019 as one of the most identity centered candidates in the primary and she didn't make it to Iowa. Clearly she has pivoted away from that. Are her actions transparently craven and self serving? Yes! Are her actions reflective good politics and good governance, also Yes
Unfortunately, that is all she can offer. She couldnt even make it in Democrats primary. Literally got pick because of DEI by Joe and has one job as VP which was the border and failed miserably. Pretty simple. Do you want blinding incompetence or banal evil? That's essentially your choice. The Democrats are good people, but hilariously incompetent. The Republicans are competent, but unempathetic and prone to scandal. When the economy isn't working, most people will pick the banal evil. Some things just matter more than others, and there isn't much that's more important than your livelihood.
It’s a popularity contest among the uneducated in the Deep South and flyover states. To them, values and platforms don’t matter as much as name brands and fame.
she's more popular than Hillary was. Between Hillary and Trump back in 2016, they were each so disliked it made many people decide not to vote and thats what helped Trump win. They are desperate to not let the same happen again

That's quite a stretch lol, politicians are simply called by the name that stands out the most regardless of gender/political party - Clinton, which one? @@bobloblaw3585You haven’t been paying attention. She’s talked about her plans for the economy, the border, and abortion. I haven’t heard Trump talk about policy much.
It’s sad that Biden announced to the world he was selecting a woman of color for the VP back in 2020, forever tainting her as the token candidate. That was a bad statement from the get go.
I read a comment the other day that really says everything. “When people vote for a man he only has to be good enough…they only have to agree with him on some things…not all. But if the candidate is a woman? They have to agree 100% on all topics… and even on topics having nothing to do with politics. Also she needs to be perfect in every other way, too. She had to be strong and assertive, but not seem aggressive. She had to be intelligent and well educated, but not make anyone feel inferior by comparison. She had to be attractive, but not too attractive. She had to dress well, but not be too well dressed. She had to be confident, but not too confident. Basically, any candidate who was a woman was held to a standard that was impossible to achieve, and the goalposts constantly shifted.” Sadly this still applies. VP Harris is so qualified it’s insane that there’s even a choice. Jasmine Crockett said it best yesterday: Crockett: “This election is the best example of why you all are so afraid of diversity, equity, and inclusion because then you can't have a simple minded under qualified white man somehow end up ascending…instead you have to pay attention to the qualified Black woman.”
You explained it best. They call her DEI for being black, unqualified because she's a woman, while she has the best CV out of every presedential candidate we ever had.
@@Roman.RêbwarMaybe not the best ever. George H W Bush had been VP, Head of the CIA, Chair of the RNC, Ambassador to China, Ambassador to the UN, a member of the House, and a businessman by the time he ran in 1988. (This isn’t to say that Vice President Harris doesn’t have a very, very impressive résumé, she does.)
The reason Women weren't galvanized by Hillarie's campaign is that she made the campaign about her being a women and thus making history. This made her come off as patronizing, self congratulatory, and ultimately condescending to women. She didn't make it about the real bread and butter issues.
One key difference (which I at first thought was a mistake during the debate) was that Clinton stated the facts about the economy and unemployment when she was running. This made her seem insensitive to the problems of Americans who weren't doing well. Harris avoided discussing the strength of the current economy (or decreasing crime rate) and did not try to contradict Trump's false claims, but instead talked about her vision for the future. She played offense instead of defense.
Clkinton also got deliberately misquoted to sensationalize headlines. For example: she was quoted as saying to coal miners: "We will shut you down." What they DIDN'T quote was how she ALSO said "we will get you all new jobs in green energy." Same with the "deplorables" remark. She said HALF of his followers. She then went on to describe what she thought of the other half, in very sympathetic terms. But none of that "sells newspapers", as the media wants.
Harris comes off as insensitive in other ways. Sure shes not Hillary, and she definitely learned from Hillary's mistakes. MAGA Republicans however have played a completely new way to mess with Harris's base and Democrats as a whole. By going after the inner cities of "safe blue" states, you can see the backlash she gets from disenfranchised minority groups who traditionally voted for Democrats. Without addressing each group, it erodes her standing as a whole... not that she could ever persuade these voters without sounding disingenuous, as thats how MAGA has designed to build that hate.
Damned straight she was. Nothing but mistakes as a public official. No one liked her. The DNC always picks worst candidate available. I was also against Biden. He was the worst choice in 2020. Pete Buttigieg would have been the best pick at the time. I was leaning towards Warren but I changed my mind when she flip flopped on Medicare for All(which I still believe is the best idea).
Some people are just wicked. "She slept her way up", "She is a DEI hire", I am extremely shocked and disgusted by these allegations. Harris, you get all my support. You fully merit this job and you're the one America needs to heal because it's really sick. You will win overwhelmingly and these bitter detractors will hide their tails.
Why is it « wicked ». Joe Biden openly said during the 2020 debate « I’ll pick a woman of color as my VP » and the relationship with Willie Brown lasted 7 years, and by coincidence, she got a promotion as AG of San Francisco. As a woman, I’ve never had unprofessional relationships with any boss and I think when we dig into her past, it’s normal to ask if there was a conflict of interest. Same for the debate, she didn’t disclose Lindey Davis was her sorority sister? She’s been extremely unpopular 5 months ago and now all of a sudden, we have to NOT ASK a single question ? I call BS, and I’m voting Trump.

I think the biggest thing she learned was that to not skip the rust belt, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania! Hilary just assumed rust belt was “safe” and spend billions on flipping South Carolina to blue. Dumbest campaign strategy ever! Wisconsin was already turning Red by 2011, and Hilary’s campaign thought it was a solid blue in 2016 baffles me. That campaign was so out of touch from reality.
Harris is running at a better time for female candidates then Hillary did but she’s Also a much better candidate then Hillary was. I don’t think Harris is quite at Obama level (or even 90s Bill Clinton level) for charisma but she’s way better then Hillary, Gore, and Kerry. And she’s better then 2020 Biden. She also makes smarter decisions like not responding to Trump’s racist/ misogynistic attacks while Hillary got bogged down responding to Trump. Praising the handlers instead of Harris is his way to avoid sitting on MAGA's ire and he has alot of moderates and MAGA followers apparently. I guess i'll take that for now.
I noticed that. People keep giving credit to her speech writers, the people who prepped her for the debate, the people who coached her on interviews, etc but never her. They questioned her debate skills before the debate like she wasn’t a practicing lawyer.
To me, Hillary Clinton seemed like she was trying to represent women and women only. I felt a little excluded from her campaign. With Kamala Harris I see her supporting women, but I see her supporting so many different groups of people. And I'll admit I like Tim Walz more because a lot of his background is similar to mine (national guard, GIS/geography, midwest born and raised, etc). But I think Kamala isn't trying to lift just women up. She's trying to lift everyone up. And to me, that's important. I don't want anyone to get left behind and I don't think we have to do that in the first place. I'll vote Harris/Walz because they represent my values and beliefs. They're just normal people.
Supporting someone who vows to be president for all, not just for some -- it makes me wonder how on earth anyone, let alone women, can support the monstrosity that is Trump.
If you felt left behind by Hillary, imagine how women felt when Donald was elected… And most male presidents before Barack… I’m a dude too. I just feel bad for the women. Our choices are often bad vs good for us guys. For women, it’s usually bad vs. worse.

Not from the US either, but I assume it’s because the US has a unique history with racial segregation that left a deep scar in the way they view these issues. =[
American here. The united States is unique in that fact that we are a country built on the fact that people immigrated here (except the Native Americans) whether it be for religious freedom, persecution, to escape war, or for a better life. Or brought here unwillingly like the African slaves and the indentured servants. We are called a melting pot of cultures because of this. While many people all over immigrated here we also have a history of segregation and racism. The Civil War started because the southern states were slavery was prominent wanted to succeed in order to keep the institution of slavery. After they lost slavery was abolished (well kinda before but it's a lot to explain) and then there was reconstruction era which we did see African American being elected into public office but that quickly changed when reconstruction ended and former white southerners who fought to keep slavery came into power and created Jim Crow laws. These laws made it difficult for blacks to vote, (even though our bill of rights guarantees) and just in general do anything a white person could do and is also known as segregation. There is also a domestic terrorist group that formed soon after the end of the Civil War by former confederates (people who fought for the south) that would terrorize and even kill black people. They terrorized jews and catholics too but they are mostly known for targeting blacks. It was also common for black people to be accused of things they didn't do and then people would lynch them with out trial. The Northern states were not much better. It was more covert type of racism towards blacks and on top of that the anglican whites were often racist towards Eastern European Immigrants, Italians, and the Irish. These groups weren't considered "white" and there was legislation that tried to prevent them from coming. The western coast saw a lot of racism towards Asians and there was legislation to prevent them from coming too. During WW2 Japanese Americans were put into internment camps because the government was worried that they could be spies for Japan who we were fighting against. This is just a quick over view there is more nuance and history I glossed over. Right now there is misinformation being spread about immigrants from Mexico and south America committing crime and eating people's dogs and cats.
The gender is not what we should take into consideration when this is a presidential election. It’s their policy, their economic plan and specific plans. Not just some empty big talk.
Even now, I hear people, including women, criticize every female candidate's voice. There is a deep societal disrespect and rejection of women. Women have an extremely narrow window in which they might be considered acceptable. With clothing, voice, looks, weight, height, etc.

As others have mentioned, Hilary was generally seen as a very unpopular candidate (she was seen by too many people as being too apart of the establishment). So she was qualified, but she wasn't popular. 2, she ran a horrible campaign. She famously never visited some of the swing states. I think she never went to WI or MI. 3, the comey report came out like in late October of that election and was basically a nuclear missile at her. 4, and IMO this is perhaps the most significant difference between 2016 and 2024....Trump was much more popular back in 2016 because he was brand new. He had never been in politics. He was seen by many as being "different and an outsider". People overwhelmingly gravitated towards him. People were willing to take a chance on an "outsider" because they were fed up with Hilary. Again i can't stress enough how unpopular Hilary Clinton was in 2016 NONE of the above factors, or variables, exist in this election. Trump is not a "new shiny toy or an unknown". Hillary Clinton isn't the democratic candidate. And there will be no comey report and there is no "secret Trump vote' this election
While these specific issues weren't present in 2016, Kamala has other issues like: 1) Not being elected as the DNC candidate, meaning we don't really know how popular she will be 2) While she regularly touts how great 'Bidenomics' is going as far to say it's one of her greatest VP achievements in helping work towards, most Americans don't feel happy with the economy. 3) Poor record on immigration (Even if you don't believe the Border Czar thing). She has said alot of things on immigration in 2020 that are extremely unpopular today, so much so that she's changed her immigration policy. Also, in regards to your last point, Trump wasn't more popular in 2016. He got 12 million more votes in 2020 than he did when he was 'new' so his popularity has actually grown over time.
@@riptyurass302 Your points here are very misleading and lacking context. 1. She was elected, she got 4,567 votes from delegates in the DNC, not to mention the popularity of her campaign in general. 2. Most Americans aren’t happy with the economy but it’s a simple fact that Biden policies help the us recover relatively fast from Covid, and unlike trump her policies won’t increase inflation and will actually help struggling Americans.
@@riptyurass302 and with the immigration, she was never the “border czar” whatever that means. Her position was simply to figure out the reasoning for migration, thank trump for killing the bill that would’ve help solve this issue.
@@guiseppejacobs2357 yes, she was elected the same way Hillary was chosen over Bernie sanders. Undemocratic votes that not a single democratic voter filled a ballot with. Every first world nation that did basically nothing has recovered from covid the same or better than the US. Biden had to do nothing except not screw up for the US to move on from covid, just like the rest of the world. And lastly, I never called her the Border Czar, I specifically said, if you don’t believe that narrative her immigration policy is still unpopular. 80% of the country doesn’t support giving illegal immigrants thousands of dollars each month, which is something she’s proposed as VP.
I was a stay at Home mom with no money in my IRA or any savings of my own, which was scary at 53 years of age. Three years ago I got a part time job and save everything I make. Since the goal of getting a job was to invest for retirement and NOT up my lifestyle, I was able to scale this quickly to $150,000. If I can do this in a year, anyone can.
I know this lady you just mentioned. Stephanie Janis Stiefel is a portfolio manager and investment advisor. She gained recognition as an employee of neuberger berman; a renowned investor she is. Stephanie Janis Stiefel has demonstrated expertise in investment strategies and has been involved in managing portfolios and providing guidance to clients.
The thing is people often doubt the prospects of financial advisors like Stephanie Janis Stiefel in business/markets today. Well it gives me more time to get ahead while they stew in their own pity and doubts as they childishly complain about those spreading the word
One of the main things was that while Hillary demonstrated competency, she did not demonstrate resilience against Donald Trump or resilience against the people that doubted her. Kamala has been consistently demonstrating her competence AND her resilience. She basically made a fool of DJT during the debate, exploited his weak-minded narcissistic obsessions and she’s been pulling in support from unlikely people by being persistent in her messaging. Focusing on meeting voters where they are but also being careful not to be a pushover to the media.

They have to agree 100% on all
topics… and even on topics having nothing to do with politics. Basically, any candidate who was a woman was held to a standard that was impossible to achieve, and the goalposts constantly shifted.”
Sadly this still applies. VP Harris is so qualified it’s insane that there’s even a choice.

VERY WELL ARTICULATED
Any woman who voted for Trump over Clinton deserves scorn. They think he would NOT grab them by the kitty kat because they supported him
One key difference (which I at first thought was a mistake during the debate) was that Clinton stated the facts about the economy and unemployment when she was running.
One of the most easiest things was simply not being Hillary Clinton. She was a bad candidate out the gate

Main difference here is Hillary was uniquely very unpopular on both sides of the aisle. Republicans were never going to vote for her since they had Trump, and many Democrat voters especially younger ones don’t like the Clintons at all. They are seen (rightfully) as being too centre right to be Democrats, hence why Bernie was popular at the time.
Hillary was also campaigning like the presidency was simply a coronation, a job she’d be gifted without any hurdles and took it for granted.
Kamala on the other hand is campaigning very hard, she’s not taking anything for granted, she knows this is still a race, and has also sought to reach out to the Bernie leaning voters by choosing Tim Walz as her VP candidate. There are many 2016 Bernie supporters who are voting for Kamala because they love Waltz.
I think in retrospect Hillary should’ve picked Bernie Sanders as her running mate in 2016.

So offended by so many of these men making excuses on why women don't qualify. Her laugh, too soft, too harsh, her dating history.....all these things that NO ONE tries to bring up for men
I'm not from the US and I can't understand how somebody's "race" is somehow important to mention. Not even in my 3rd world country do we care for it.
Unlike Hillary, Harris is not being cocky and hitting all the swing states as much as she can. She's also pivoted away from making the race about her race and being a woman when Hillary thought it was "her turn" which turned off a lot a voters.
Hillary was full of pride and thought she was already in the white house.

Massive auto plants came into TN with other global companies moving there and many autoparts plants alos came there. It would take decades for Pune to come even close to Chennai. Similarly when the Indian Army decided to close the OTA [Officer Training Academy] in Chennai, Jayalalitha spoke to the PM directly and ensured the OTA remains in Chennai. That made sure that the heavy financial investment each year and economic benefits to TN and employment continues forever.
Also when Vajpayee Govt [specifically its useless defence MInister Fernandes, whom the media has needlessly lionized as a 'great Defence Minster'] decided to dismiss the Navy Chief for no reason, the only politician from within the ruling BJP alliance to take the PM to task was Jayalalitha. She asked the PM to give specific reasons why the Indian Navy Chief was dismissed, and why the alliance partners were not informed BEFORE the decision was made. Since the PM could not come up with specific reasons, she withdrew her support to the govt at the center and made sure that the govt fell / lost majority in Parliament.

WSJ want Trump to win
Her campaign raised $1 billion in 3 months and ended up in $20 million in debt…
So i keep hearing some people referring back to 2016 (Trump of course won and Hillary lost).
Few key circumstances that were prevalent in 2016 (which was 8 years ago) but are no longer a factor :
Again i can't stress enough how unpopular Hilary Clinton was in 2016
NONE of the above factors, or variables, exist in this election. Trump is not a "new shiny toy or an unknown". Hillary Clinton isn't the democratic candidate. And there will be no comey report and there is no "secret Trump vote' this election
While these specific issues weren't present in 2016, Kamala has other issues like:
1) Not being elected as the DNC candidate, meaning we don't really know how popular she will be
2) While she regularly touts how great 'Bidenomics' is going as far to say it's one of her greatest VP achievements in helping work towards, most Americans don't feel happy with the economy.
She learned to keep momentum going because that Trump cult runs deep.
