In this video I'm providing an update on my experience after my Covid infection almost destroyed my singing career, how I recovered my vocal health, and then was diagnosed with an under-active thyroid (hypothyroidism) caused by an autoimmune disorder called "Hashimotos Thyroiditis" which attacks the body's immune system causing some very debilitating side effects. A link between SARS-CoV-2 infection and Hashimoto thyroiditis and Graves’ disease has already been reported, and there are several peer-reviewed papers on this link. Hope you will get better. I had covid in 2023, and suffered from post covid symptoms like fatigue long after. Also had thyroiditis for a couple of years now (inflamed thyroid gland) . But blood tests have been ok so far, knock on wood..

Thanks for your email and sharing your health update , I appreciate your shared Info which has helped me as I used to have Hashimoto's Disease low thyroid, feeling so exhausted that they are unable to go about their day as usual, and I used to have a tenor voice range, but later started singing baritone for a couple of years .....after my test I began to work with my Acupuncture Dr. and with some herbs and needles I was able to get back my voice within one year ....so I know how you are feeling ....but it will all come back to you ....Keep rocking in the free world ...Peace out
Hey Peter, thanks for sharing! From my understanding, Hashimotos can go into 'remission' but like viruses remains dormant (?) I dunno, I'm just learning all this stuff as I go, but I'm glad to hear your positive results as it gives me something I needed most: HOPE! I will look into acupuncture, as I'm a BIG fan of that, and I know of one near me that is apparently very good. Thank you again for your feedback - much appreciated!
I KNEW it!!!! I got omicron, except I was only sick for a little over a week. However, about a month or two later I noticed I was waking up very hoarse and it lasted all morning. I knew it must've been because of omicron. To this day, I still get hoarse, some days it most of the day, others half the day. It's sad because I was in choir in HS and sang in the church choir but I gave up singing after my first baby. I said I'd get back in a choir once I have no babies, but I had 9 so...😂 Sadly though, my voice is hoarse and I am so out of practice from singing & simply don't sing the same as I used. It's so, so sad I LOVE singing and miss singing the way I used to and the wide range I had.
You can still sing! (If I can, YOU can!!!) I have retrained my voice to overcome the negative physical disabilities associated with zero thyroid function, so I’m confident ANYONE can use the same process! It may take some work yo get there, but your effort WILL pay off (what have you got to lose by trying?) much love! 💕
