"..homosexuality is a problem.."? The ONLY 'problem' I've experienced in my 79 years has been the subjugation, discrimination
and hatred exhibited by the believers in imaginary creatures who live in the clouds, who feel their 'belief' makes them superior!
To paraphrase George Orwell: One cannot really be a religious person and grown up.
Atheism is a religion. "SELF" CALLS THE SHOTS INSTEAD OF YOU ALLOWING "GOD" TO LEAD YOU.
Being a theist and being gay have nothing in common. One is a belief system the other isn't a choice. One of the two is indoctrinated the other is just who they are. I wasn't brought up religious nor gay but I turned out to be gay and I wasn't indoctrinated into that world. Religion has done way more damage to society than being gay ever will.
I've come to the conclusion that the reason why so many theists define homnsexuality by an act, instead of the natural attraction, is because they don't see that natural attraction as being `a sin` but rather a temptation to be resisted. Which is why they claim it's a choice. The only way that makes sense is if they're at least bisexual, which I suspect is a lot more common in society than we know, simply because of that belief. Sorry, that was a bit of a tangent off your point, but it got me thinking about it.
My homosexuality allows me to enjoy a wonderful life with my wife and our young daughters. Our atheism enables us to successfully fit into to life in a strongly secular country where that vast majority of the population is atheist and imaginary “gods” play absolutely no part in our lives.
I'm happy for you and your wife, miss. Unfortunately a lot of LGBT people are not lucky enough to be in a 1 of those 16 countries in the world where you can get married with your lover if you are gay. Not talking about those countries where religion is still in the state
@@Andre-zw5kl Same-sex marriage is legally performed and recognized in 37 countries. Still not enough, but it's more than 16.
@@Andre-zw5kl Your ignorance is as deep as your bigotry and neither does you any credit. Being a married woman, I’m clearly not a “miss”. Many more than 16 countries have legalised same sex marriage. Which westernised countries do you imagine to be non secular or majority christian?
@@anushkasekkingstad1300I'm really really sorry. I didn't mean to be disrespectful or anything. I'm French so I have moments when my english let me down as so. I ment to say mrs not miss. And apparently I'm a bigger idiot for thinking just 16 countries legalized the same-sex marriageh. I'm sorry again
And for a country that's not secular but under the western Influence I can point at Romania. I had a holiday there with my girlfriend, we were visiting a friend of mine whom dedided to move in the country and I was shocked to see even thought Romania is in the European Union they have no LGBT rights at all (not even civil union), the orthodox church is financed by the Romanian state, in the schools you still have religion classes mendatory till high school. Also 97% of romanians are christians so for sure the are no secular state
I'm glad you're enjoying your family, but you are incorrect.
Everyone's optimal life is inside a strong nuclear family for various reasons. Man or woman, it is a fact. Your homosexuality, regardless what you think, is causing you to experience a suboptimal life and has introduced various psychological abuses to those kids that you are completely unaware of.
Best of luck to you. But your statement is not accurate. And given the split rate and the chaos inside of homosexual relationships, I hope the kids end up well too. But hey, you totally got what you wanted, fk everyone else involved?
That's your religion isn't it? Fk everyone else, I want to do what I want. I'll just pretend I'm doing it for virtuous reasons.
Theism makes you happy, that's nice for you
Now stop trying to force your version of happiness onto others.
He did not really say that, or? He seems to be rathter harmless, takes reason to be a good guy from his religion, but remains more or less neutral
I would say it might be a reasonable idea to go into some kind of armistice with this type of christians, and maybe become them to acknowledge that there are OTHER christians unlike him that ABuse his God for enrichment, manipulation and control over others. And maybe even be able to unite with them in going against these ideologies which BOTH can agree upon.
With confrontation you have a hard time. You just push people back in their bubble. You have to lure people out, make them wanting to tell what they think, show them the commonalities.

Getting a buzz off atheism is like getting high after not taking drugs
Theism is an addiction.
As a matter of fact, I get buzz of atheism. I don't have to squirm trying to explain impossible things, I don't have to accept or excuse discrepancies in a book or dogma that I claim to be absolutely true and most important in my and everybody else's life. I don't have that kind of book or dogma. I can take the world as it is, and welcome all new information about it without a fear of it ruining my "Truth". It really feels very very good.
I've noticed that the miracles in the bible are not preached/talked about as much anymore with the advancement in knowledge of physics. Parting the red sea,, Coming back to life, flying carpet,, Opps,, different god/book, Walking on water/ice. Where Hell is now. It's moved from when I was a child..
People are generally better educated and less gullible than they once were.
The gaps theists can wedge their gods into are shrinking and outright disappearing on a daily basis.
The biggest predictor of your religion is your parents' religion, and even that isnt a perfect. No one is predisposed to religious beliefs.
Yes parents perpetuate theism and groom their children it’s toxic
NEP, the “expert theologian” didn’t know several faiths within Christianity have more than 66 books in their biblical canon, and he gets Bible verses wrong, claiming that Gen 1:28 tells that all animals were vegetarian when it was actually verses 29 and 30.
Pretty damn sad when atheists know his Bible better than he does while he continues to claim he’s the “Christian expert” in the threads.
On this note, athiestic homophobes make no sense to me. Doesnt Homophobia stem from religion and have no basis elsewhere?
Not quite. It could also be folks who are creeps to the opposite gender and have this highly accurate idea that homosexual people will act the same way towards them. idk, homophobia is stupid.
I think it's become detached from its religious roots and is a cultural meme that has gotten far out of hand, is now monstrous.
From what I've seen homophobes who are atheist fall for the propaganda that someone can be taught to be gay and completely ignore the scientific consensus that this isn't true. Some still hold onto that heteronormativity is the only good thing for society which still fails under the same excuses thiests will gin up.
Unfortunately hateful people will be hateful, regardless.
Religion doesn't create bigotry, meaning it doesn't cause it. It expresses the society's existing bigotry and is used to justify it to say that God is against it and that's why it's wrong.
There's some scholarship that says what the Bible says is homosexuality is not homosexuality per se, because that's a modern conception. What it says is wrong is for man to be in a submissive role during sex, i.e. when he's in the bottom position, even for hetero sex.
But modern religious belief will interpret it in the way that's understood now.
God doesn’t make you feel better, but the BELIEF in God might make you feel better. It’s called the placebo effect.

Don't you ever get bored with lying, Nepy? 😆
I wonder what Nepy thinks many dinosaurs and other animals had canine teeth for.

Quick question. When asking theists if they care if their beliefs are true or not, and they respond with something along the lines of “Jesus is the truth, the way, the life” or a similar verse… what’s the best way to respond? I typically will say something like I don’t care what it says in your holy book, or how do we determine that the statement “Jesus is the truth” true? And it divulges into well you have to have a relationship with Jesus and around this point the discussion hits a brick wall for me. Any advice to better navigate this conversation?
