The ease with which she pulled this off is incredible. EVERY other runner was completely gassed and she was as smooth at the finish as she was at the start.
She is a warrior,no break in her stride and her breathing is impeccable, she's a generational phenom no doubt ! Witnessing greatness folks!
Sophomore Katelyn Tuohy holds both 1500m and 5000m top times in the nation with her 4:06 and 15:14
for the new track fans:
Katelyn Tuohy is one of the greatest HS distance runners of all time, she owns the Mile, 3000m, 3200m, and i5000m High School National Records and 21 New York State Records. Tuohy is a 9x New Balance National Champion, 5x DMR National Champion and a 3x Nike National XC Champion and went undefeated for 3 years since her sophomore year, tallied all course venue records and is the only runner to ever win 3-straight National XC Titles.
Katelyn Tuohy entered college injured, she had a knee surgery prior to entering NC State her freshman year, she patiently worked her way to the top level. In December 2021, Katelyn (19) was back to breaking records as she broke the U20 American Junior 3000m Record. In the indoor season, Katelyn became 2x NCAA runner-up in the 5000m and 3000m as a covid-freshman.
Now a sophomore for outdoor track, Katelyn Tuohy continues her ascent in the NCAA, running top all-time performances in the 5000m and 1500m.
Freshman Times - 4:12 / 9:19 / 15:47
Sophomore Times - 4:06 / 8:54 / 15:14
Katelyn then went on to win her first individual NCAA title in the 5000m on June 2022.
And last year's ACC final was won with a 4:09.78. Katelyn is back!
Awesome! If you would utilize some various method of "support" I would send some cash your way....and would encourage others to do the same. Rock On!
Man when it's laid out on paper so well, she seems like Secretariat or something.
So is 3m59s possible for Katelyn?
@@paulthompson9668 "Possible" is unknown if/until she does it.
@3:46 the look on Skyring’s face vs Touhy’s face…all out effort vs total control…well done all!
@Elias Gameplay me alegro de que estés de acuerdo
Definitely peaking at the right time thing I like about her though is the sportsmanship with the other teams and teammates great job KT...Goodluck
I don't think she has peaked yet.her further is very bright
@@stephenkennedy3145 oh absolutely I'm sure she has more in her tank you have to watch out for injuries doing a lot more speed work now you could tell I'm sure she had a fifth gear if need be but this girl's future is very bright I believe it should be more on a national news this is like Jim Ryan stuff back in the 60s....Goodluck KT...
100 percent agree
has time on here side wishing you well and luck
I've been following Katelyn since HS and she is just an amazing athlete! Keep it up Katelyn!!!!
Where are Grace and Lauren Ping? I know Grace graduated last year, but she kinda fell off. Amazing runner as a young girl, but I've not heard lately.
Tuohy's game face at .02 seconds in is inspirational. After the race is over she will be the sweetest most angelic young lady you could ever meet.
Katelyn left no doubt. She used her strength and an out-front, run-em-into-the-ground strategy that decimated this field. Class of the ACC as a sophomore! Thanks for the video.
Also congrats to Anna Vess and all the other NC State runners. You all love training together and making every girl a faster runner!
Holy moly that speed! The others having a near death experience at the finish line and she is just casually strolling between them 😄💪
Amazing run! So smooth and relaxed. Watching the girl behind her grimace and struggle to keep pace, while Katelyn has such a relaxed face…..you know it was a blistering pace! These are D1 athletes. Well done young lady! Looking forward to the NCAA’s! 👍
3:38 That's the face I make when I'm running 50m and clocking 20s and trying to catch my breathe while dying on the floor 😂
Glad to see Katelyn finally healthy and winning again! Tuohy flewie down that final stretch.
I came across Katelyn completely by accident looking for another video, she was still in HS then but I'm a fan of the mile and 1500 and she was running a 1500 (I think) so I watched it and I was impressed by her smooth yet powerful running, so I've been following her since then. I know its been more challenging in college but I have faith in her, I think she's got the talent and work ethic to be a champion there too! This run reminds me of the first time I saw her, I wish her all the best
I ran track in high school, and I'm amazed at her stamina, how comfortable she looks at the end of a race. All I remember was being totally exhausted!
She is absolutely amazing. Reminds me of Mary Decker back in the 80's. So dominant.
When I was following her during her High School years, that's exactly what I said, still do. Glad to hear someone else agree.
oh, ABSOLUTELY
Love me some Katelyn Tuhoy. Good job, love to see it!👏🏿👏🏿❤️
To say she was amazing is a understatement! She absolutely dominated this race from the beginning. I absolutely believe we will see her soon as a Olympic champion very soon!
still crazy how she easily pulled this time, she could possibly win a 1500m title if she trains for this distance
The speed working helping Vess too. She had a great last lap and was all smiles at the end. I liked the little moment after the race with Katelyn at the 4:33 mark in the video.
YASS! Anna Vess and everyone was truly happy for Katelyn! Anna, Savannah, Nevada and Katelyn's hug at the end is so wholesome!
Katelyn is a beast. I've been following her for a few years. She's the one to watch.
Woof! That's the Katelyn we saw in high school. I'd say she's back. A very relaxed 1500 that is her PB by 6 seconds. The 63.6 last lap was the easiest last lap I've seen.
What a pleasure to see her run.!
Shes good man, very good.
She could have gone even faster it seems.!
Best time in the country this year?
Thats just great.
Keep it up champ.😘
so happy for her! she is nothing but class!
Go Katelyn!! Looking so strong.
Favorite Moment: THE ENTIRE VIDEO
its amazing to me watching her come down the last straight and the look on her face is that of ease and preparation, while the 2 or 3 girls behind her all look like they are ready to fall over...
Survival as well as winning, depends on focus, determination, and perseverance. And this young lady has them all !! Such an incredibly strong competitor, so effort less. No sign of fatigue.
What a wonderful athlete. You made that look effortless. Well done Katelyn Tuohy. All the best 💜😁
so happy that shes over her injuries and hope that she can continue being healthy, shes one special athlete and shes already rewriting ncaa record books
She is 100% American athlete champion. So very proud Touhy.
Cannot wait for NCAAs!!!
Run @katelyntuohy, run!!!
Held her form like a champ, so impressive.
Katelyn looked like she was out for a Sunday stroll. Completely in control from the opening gun. She might even shortly break 4 minutes. Fantastic race!
A phenomenally beautiful run. "Just go out and have fun!" She obviously had a LOT of fun!
Congrats Katelyn and your many happy races to come. You'll continue to hammer that last lap strongly!
Awesome video Katelyn peace ✌️☮️😊👍 big fan
Great job Katelyn. Long time fan. Very proud of you!
The Smooth Dominator. So smooth. Love watching her race.
husband speaking age 80, I love the respect Miss Tuohn shows to runners from other teams and always goes to her own
team and hugs or greets them. What an amazing young lady.
5:11 tuohy just walking after a 4:06 ... did not even bend or stop to catch her breath because she was NOT out of breath .... crazy!!
She is normally a 5000m runner. The 1500m is just a jog in the park for her. This young lady is conditioned.
Wow! Just a machine! T1000-ish!
been following her since she was in HS, good to see she is still rockin it!
😳 She gassed the shiii outta them. AND, she was holding back a bit so she'd have more in the tank for a strong final 100m kick! Whaaat!
That time is going to win the NCAA Championship almost every year. Nearly 3 secs faster than Lauren Gregory's PB this year (and she's a Sr.).
#TuohyFTW
And she isn't even running at Nationals...turn arounds are to tight plus the 1500m has heats (although for her probably just a good workout day gets her in the finals), she just wants to focus on 5k ...kinda sad when person with the fastest time doesn't even run the event. but I think she just doesn't want to risk being gassed; the 1500m finals is an hour and a half before the 5k finals so she might have to push with a hard sprint to win 1500m then turn around and have to run the 5k that's tough, my guess is if the finals were on different days she would have given it a go but not with the schedule the way it is just no chance...you can pull it off in conference because the field isn't as strong but at Nats it's asking too much.
Thanks much for posting this wire-to-wire win. I heard Katelyn say she will be focusing on the 5K for regionals and the NCAAs. Given this dominating performance, wonder if her coaches will be reconsidering.
same question!
The problem is probably the schedule not Katelyn. My guess is the schedule might be out and it's just too tight a turnaround to make it work
She and the coaches did not reconsider. Katelyn only declared for the 5000.
Most of this refers to her decimation of the field in 5K semi-finals she just ran (and won). I read elsewhere that her coach wanted her to run-in 1500s to improve her speed for a finishing kick in longer races - e.g. the 5K - as just demonstrated. It gets her used to a slightly faster speed without it being a sprint. She can then try it on if she has someone hanging onto her pace. Elsewhere I saw listed that for training she had repeat mile runs (4 laps I imagine) with short rests - they got notably faster from 5.45 onwards for two three repeats - I seem to recall she had similar practices at HS too. If you look back as far as Roger Bannister (final kick) and John Landry (front runner) the latter types tended to have no final kick, and that has been typical - but with a talent like K the Coach's advice was extremely astute - and look at K's races - her basic speed is top class - then she can accelerate at the end. Other's may copy in time but K will be long gone!
In this race she teased the girl with her in the next to last lap with a slight lead, she didn't respond to K's few yard lead that she kept into the back straight of the last lap - then took off. None of that is accidental.
Katelyn's last lap was 2 secs faster than her first and just as smooth and under control
Wow! That ranks Katelyn as 613 fastest of all time, up from 1501! She just surpassed 888 other women on the all-time list! Also number 9 in US and 22 in the world this year. She's ripping her way up the all-time lists at quite a rate!
she surely gonna qualify for both 1500m and 5000m at USATF Outdoor Championships
@@katelyntuohyfans - She's definitely a lot stronger now - she's definitely been pushing weights and she looks more muscular and her running style has changed a bit. Her NCAA indoors were fantastic. She'll make US senior top 5 this season in both 15 and 5 and she'll be number 1 next season. I look forward to seeing her progress!
Just great to see her running so well and injury free.
Katelyn's new PB- very impressive running! Love her-
thoroughly exciting to watch. she simply thrashed the field!!!
She's going to dominate! I have spoken. She is that good.
every once in a while the Lord blesses an athlete with the exceptional gifts to impress and be the one. Katelyn is that one.
Perfect race. Strides were smooth showed in pace control, i.e. splits. Great composure overall and so relaxed throughout with plenty left for the short kick. Nice to see her without fatigue.
This race also showcased top level coaching. Just hope she's not overextending on schedule.
Thats awesome!! I Love seeing her running like this again.....
Awesome race by KT! She made it look like a walk in the park with an incredible time.
Very very fast running. Congratulation Katelyn,Skying and all runner.
Great result.
My favorite race to watch you run.
I love this young lady, she makes it look sooo easy.
Katelyn put the grimace on second place Maudie....awesome to see her continuing her great success in college 👏 👍....also always a pleasure seeing the women athletes compete regardless of where they may place....showing up counts a LOT in my book and having run high school track and many road races after High school I have to admit many of these young women would have whoopped me 🙂..
You go girls ! 👍
May God Bless U More idol Katelyn Tuohy 🙏💗
Katelyn T. certainly has got game. At the begnning of the last lap I thought the Florida State girl had a shot at her, but coming down the backstretch she was wincing and tying up trying to stay with her, while Katelyn maintained her form as she turned on the juice. Well done, KT! She really looks like she knows what she's doing out there.
what a beast! Crazy seeing other girls absolutely struggling behind her while she showed almost no exhaustion. In her lane...
It is all about endurance, the gas tank, Katelyn Tuohy has exceptional heart and lungs. Very little body twist / sway using up energy, all the energy goes into the legs.
I think these are the 2 NCAA records. Both by Jenny Simpson. Jenny Barringer at that time.
1500-3:59.90
5000-15:07.64
So Katelyn is within 7 seconds for both of them. That 5000 record has a chance of going down this summer.
Well this spring. But I also think if you're in college you can set a record running a race after the track season is over. Jenny's 1500 was at Prefontaine.
Totally agree with you Gary. That 5000m could go at the NCAA this spring. She looks stronger and stronger since her injury and illness. Her kick is absolutely developing into a major challenge and she still appears to have greater potential a head.
Congrats Katelyn...I knew you can do it🔥
Love watching KT run. Amazing.
Very strong, smooth and under control…such a stud! 🙂❤️
made that look easy. You🏃♀ go girl
love watching you run Katelyn take care cheers to the wolf pack
Love that KT runs from the front and does not wait around . . . 4:06 on her own!
Tough as nails and was for sure in the zone, relaxed and having fun! One race at a time, KT, and not too high or too low-even keel all the way through!
She's an amazing machine in the stretch!
What great form!
She really is something to watch, just blows away the field, a true champion!
Way to go young lady
Dang it looks like she had more in her!!! That looked easy!!!!
Fearless forecast! SHE WILL BE AN OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST.
She is a machine! ❤️
So powerful………makes it look easy……which it isn’t………great run 👍👍👍🇦🇺
what is impressive about this run is they way she did it, she look so smooth and easy running 4:06
She has so much class. Love to watch her race. Too bad she didn't come to Ga. Would have made a great Bulldog. Anyway have fun and enjoy yourself.
So glad for her.
What a performance!!! 👏👏
Great Video! Love it!
Katelyn has that "eye of the tiger" going on now. Awesome to see her in good physical condition and running well.
Smokin Fast!!!!
And she seemed so relaxed 😎
Katelyn is a beast. Really not breathing hard coming out of the last turn.
congrats Katelyn!!! Well done!:)
She is a beast of a runner. I just hope she can stay healthy. So many of them push their bodies that they breakdown way too early and have to end their career.
katelyn tuohy has been around since she was a 7th grader, she has over come many adversities and changes ~
She is simply amazing.
Good for her. She’s perfect.
its good to see just women running and competing!
WOW, just WOW.
Excelentísimo!!!! Extraordinaria!!!!!
And now she won an NCAA 5000m title, amazing range!
Great job young lady. You are to be admired.
What a stamina from start to finish!
Great run!👏💪💞
Her running style is perfect. She is so well balanced. Pacemaker all the way to a win, the others need not have shown up.
She made it look easy!
