      If possible, I would appreciate your input on editable templates (e.g., Corjl) since they don't seem to be specifically addressed in the new policy update. Additionally, many of us who sell editable templates create our first listing photo using Canva or Photoshop. However, according to the new Creativity Standards, it appears we may need to print out our downloads and physically photograph them for our first Etsy listing photo. Photographing hundreds of editable templates and digital downloads will be a massive project, especially since these new standards have taken effect immediately. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!

      What time? also, can we submit questions? if so, I design my own tshirts. However, I sometimes do buy Pngs already done designs from other etsy shops not Creative Fabrica. Are we not allowed to buy from Etsy/Pngs shops at all? or does this fall into the same category as Creative Fabrica where we would have to alter the design to claim it our own?

    I don’t like other shops being promoted on my listings when it’s through an ad or traffic I drove to a listing outside of Etsy. I’m basically paying for a competitor’s advertising.

So click on Shop/ Creator, still don’t see All from that creator, but “others like this”, which I would like, as it is in my area of interest, but only After I see everything in that creators shop/ listing.

    I know this is a hot take, but to be perfectly honest, I'm pretty indifferent to all of Etsy's updates, the good, the bad, the ugly. Why? Because I've accepted that being on Etsy means I'll always be playing by their rules, so I'm not going to stress about things I can't control. I just listen to the updates to make sure I'm still ACTUALLY playing by their rules so I don't get my shop shut down, and then I move on lol. BUT, it's also important to note that I definitely DO NOT have all my eggs in Etsy's basket because I do know they're a bit problematic lol. At last count, I believe I have 8-9 different revenue streams. But yeah, I'm indifferent.

    • @StarlaMoore
      @StarlaMoore  18 дней назад +5

      I'm exactly the same way. While I definitely use my platforms to amplify important messages and best practices, overall, none of Etsy's updates are shocking to me anymore. As I always say, "Control your controllables". Anything outside of your control isn't worth stressing about.

    If the size is clearly stated in the description or as a picture, comments such "smaller/ bigger then EXPECTED" should be banned and I mean it. I can expect nice weather, not somebody's stupid idea of the size if they can literally measure it before buying. I would also like the "Emerging shops" button and "All times loved" shops button, so new shops with new ideas are not buried under 10000 adds of big shops with the same (mostly) designs.

    • @grippygecko6843
      @grippygecko6843 15 дней назад

      Yes but what about items that were not in fact the size stated? A customer has a right to expect the object to be the size in the description. If they get one that is a bit smaller or larger can't they mention that?
      It might be a case of the customer still being wrong, such as if you say a top fits size 40-41in chest and the customer expects it to fit them, but did not realise they actually have a 42in chest now. But it could also be a case where the maker made an error when measuring. Etsy can't know who is right.

    If only they put all those developer work hours into making the platform friendlier to all users (sellers too, not just shoppers), maybe they'd stop losing customers. As it is, these little changes may or may not affect us (I like the "request a video" and would do well without "AI" interference). But not doing anything about what people are requesting does affect them. For example, the ability to see the description of an item without clicking/tapping twice would be nice, also being able to find the shop name from a listing, like someone else said. Oh, and let's not forget how a few days ago they forced us to use the new listing form that doesn't have all the functionality of the old form. Now you can't crop videos any more. Yay. I am looking forward to your take on yesterday's announcement, though.

  • @penelopesparrow
    @penelopesparrow 17 дней назад +2

    The 'request video' is gone for me now - it didn't work! Sellers in the forum tested it with each other and no one got a notification of request, leading to concerns that customers might think they're being ignored. Wouldn't be surprised if it comes back. The 'more like this' I love; it's great for digging down to find those really unique things and pushes away that conversion-based rank and more into personalised curation.

  • @awlthatwoodcrafts8911
    @awlthatwoodcrafts8911 18 дней назад +9

    Giving shoppers the ability to click away from your listing definitely has it's downsides. However, a trade off might be to open a new tab to show the shopper "more like this". At least the original listing is still available to the shopper, instead of requiring the shopper to use the 'back' button to get back to where they came from, which could be dozens of pages away, if they got sidetracked and just kept clicking and clicking.

    • @StarlaMoore
      @StarlaMoore  18 дней назад

      I'm going to assume that most buyers who click it likely haven't found what they were looking for in the original listing, so rather than continuing to scroll, they're basically telling Etsy, "I like the idea of this item but it's not quite wat I was looking for. Show me similar things".

    • @awlthatwoodcrafts8911

    Etsy always expects that their changes should work for everyone. I am a professional photographer. If i took the time to somehow make a video for every photo i posted, i would have no time to travel, take, edit and post my photos.
    Also, etsy has fundamental changes ive requested over and over and they have not addressed. Fir example, if a customer requested a shipping address change, I cannot change it until I'm actually ready to ship it. I wish I could change it immediately when they make the request or that they could change it themselves before I actually ship it. This has been going on for years when does aggravating when I am busy at Christmas with many orders.

    The most important and, above all, easiest to install is: A button on every item page to the item seller's shop. Newbies come to your item through advertising and, as an Etsy newcomer, can't even find your shop. German customers in particular are used to navigating using buttons and not using shop names that are not marked as links

    • @halflink
      @halflink 17 дней назад

      It's rather easy to navigate to a shop from the listing. Seller's name in the listing is the link to their shop.

    • @OldGermanShepard
      @OldGermanShepard 17 дней назад

      @@halflinkYou see my desire with your usage culture. But Germans don’t use online shops like that. Take a look at the shop design of Amazon USA and that of Germany. a difference like night and day. Users behave differently depending on the region and expect surfaces that are tailored to them.

      @@OldGermanShepard Huh, interesting... I'm in the UK, not US. UK's Etsy interface has a link

    • @OldGermanShepard
      @OldGermanShepard 16 дней назад

      @@halflink Hello, thank you for your answer. Yes Etsy has a link. But this is not recognizable as such (no underscore) and it is written in bold. In such a case, many websites either put text in front of the link. For example, "Visit the shop: " or leave the shop name visibly underlined. The way it looks now, it's just a bold word and a new (!) customer doesn't even know that it's a shop name and won't even try to click on it. It's not clear in the "Made by" section under Highlights either. If you want to retain new customers, you can't think and be blind to the company. Oh, the customer will already know what that means and works. No, many new customers don't even know the shop principle behind Etsy. They couldn't even begin to explain it. And if I don't understand a principle, then I'm exhausted and leave again.

    • @OldGermanShepard
      @OldGermanShepard 16 дней назад

      @@halflink I would also like to give an often observed example.
      There is a request text under the “add to cart” button. "Add to collection" and that works. I promote a few items and notice something significant. If a user only favorites one (!) article, then it is always an article that I am promoting. This raises the suspicion that new customers come from search engines, find the item great, favorite it and then either abandon it or cannot find the shop. But why should a customer cancel if they think the item is great? I suspect it simply gets lost due to links and references that are difficult to recognize.

We're testing video reviews where buyers can show off your item in action. Since we're still fine-tuning this feature, video reviews will only be visible to you for the time being." So I was relieved because it was a customer who ordered the wrong size and didn't realize it. I just know I went from pod to all digital products because Etsy kept my money held hostage for far too long, and I couldn't afford production fees without my profits to help. Then after switching to digital, my store went completely dead. No traffic I don't bring in myself from my socials. No sales. Nothing. And I feel punished for not using AI because I can't churn out a "1000 pack seamless pattern bundle" like a stupid computer can.

    • @StarlaMoore
      @StarlaMoore  18 дней назад +1

      I feel that the human/consumer element is being lost a bit here. Remember. It's not just about listing an item. It's about listing an in-demand item that is unique and doesn't fall within an overly saturated category. Digital products are highly competitive so you've transitioned into a challenging industry. This isn't a case of "being punished." Success on Etsy takes an immense amount of time and research, contrary to what many Etsy RUclipsrs are passing off as "passive income" these days. Etsy isn't passive and never has been.

When I try to see what else a seller has, it’s very hard to distinguish between related listing and theirs - I tend to look at the pictures not read all the stuff under them. It has always felt to me like Etsy is trying to overcomplicate everything! And at the end, there are still separate checkouts for each shop which is truly the part I find most tedious. Not sure if you saw it or not, but there has been a problem with searches defaulting to filtering to physical products only, thereby meaning that digital products were not being shown. I spoke with Etsy support and they were kind of unhelpful and stated that maybe as a buyer you should add digital to your search. Well, not every buyer is going to add digital to their search term which therefore means that they won’t be getting exposed to digital items. I’m not sure whether this is another test that’s going on or a glitch but it’s very unfortunate for digital sellers.

I hate it....who is not gonna click the button & go down a rabbit hole?? Its a guarentee that they will not be buying the first item they clicked on.

    I don't think the AI shop description thing will make it, since issues with that are too hard to fix this quickly. AI review summary might stay up

    It seems like that digital sellers can add videos fairly easily. For my artwork I upload part of the time lapse video of me creating it (which people love because they know it wasn't made by AI) or for my digital planners, etc. I just make my listing photos into a video with Canva. If you make it a part of the process of listing something then it becomes habit, and you get faster at it.

    I would like the "more like this" feature if it was actually working: I create jewelry and when I try it on my shop, it shows listings where the pictures could be similar in some way (the way the hand is holding the creation, the kind of background) but the products aren't.

    For me the button more like this is shown on the bottom part of the photo, it's easy to click on this button when you want to actually click on the photo to go to the listing. And it's opening in the same tab. Kinda hate this feature the most lately. Also the search is strange, the categories are not working like it used to be, so looks like they push more into search bar to tell what someone want to see, and not to just browse around for ideas

    Bit off topic but I hate the new listing page for sellers. I found that I had entered a wrong price for one of my items, went to correct it under edit listing, and then refreshed everything, the price in my shop, displayed to customers, was still displaying incorrectly, even though the edit was correct. I had to check and re check a dozen times, and still it didn't update in my shop. I then went in cicrcles for hours ! Then, switching back to "old form" (after pulling out my hair to find it), and editing there, it finally changed in my shop. You'd think if they're going to force you to a new listing page/method, they'd make sure it works correctly first. What a pain.

    After producing 3D figures (no copyright) that I buy and download from the internet on a 3D printer, I turn them into tabletop metal objects by applying various craftsmanship (casting, welding, cleaning, polishing, oxidizing, personalization text engraving). I do not design the 3D figures. I buy them as 3D data from the designer. Which option should I choose in this case? "It's made from scratch" or "it's assembled from purchased parts" or "it's an item that my shop alters"?
    I added the independent artist from whom I bought the 3D data as a "Production partner". Is this correct? Or is it because I define a Production partner that Etsy puts my products in the "Design by ShopName" category automatically? But I didn't design them... This is not correct for my products.

    The only update I checked out was the "More like this". As a seller, I'm not a fan. It immediately give buyers the option to just move along from your listing. In regards to the video requests, I sell digital products and tend to make videos for them in Canva. My question is though, is that button a request to add a video to the listing or is a request for the seller to send a video to the buyer who requested it? I was just wondering about that one. I absolutely hate the minimizing search results. I like seeing the numbers for when I do my keyword research. However, months ago, when I was researching why they changed the search results, I found out that if you use Etsy app, you can still see the actual search results. Hopefully, they won't bother to change that.

I have nice photos and videos, SEO-checked titles and descriptions, linked to my social media, etc. The only messages I've gotten are from scammers (I reported to Etsy). I know I need to have patience, but even on Ebay I sold SOME merch within a week.

    The review thing where it gives a summary of a listing I don’t think I like. I had a new listing get a one star review before as its first review. It later got a five star review like months later but that one star really defeated the listing so anything with reviews I think they should leave alone.

    So let me understand this etsy sellers, sell artwork to be sold "as is" on the platform, some have POD commercial license and if I use it, and sell it that is not allowed, I need to change the artwork which I think or thought that was not allowed due to artist infringement or changing there artwork. Then if I use etsy model or mockups that is sold on the platform, that is also not good, they have to be the real item for first image which I was told to do by many youtube influencers huge sellers for etsy, now I spent all this money and have hundreds of listing this is not good. I think I am done, I was going to go do personalization too but they have changed that also.

    I just watched the announcement he made,
    I had to click through the copy below the video to read abt ai policy (which I personally agree with, although I realize this may be unpopular with your followers), that it should be ok to use it as a tool as long as it’s disclosed. Thing is, so much of the stock art now on etsy and creative fabrica is Ai generated and I’m sure people won’t add it into their listing info. Overall I think etsy is Trying to do the right thing with all the changes they are making, but at the end of the day it still alienates the original core users and their original mission.
    I personally have found no benefit or uptick in sales with video so I may just stop doing it, I just include the same video on all my items that shows my process and that’s it.

      As I mentioned in the video, there is no algorithmic benefit to adding listing videos. Some sellers will find videos to be more relevant to their products than others. So if you can't add them, don't stress about it. They are an option, not a requirement. 🙂

    • @worldofvintagevibes

      This may help, I use Canva to make my Etsy videos and I also do POD. You could just make a generic short video about your shop, or welcoming people to your shop, and also show a variety of items that you offer in a quick slide show, or something like that, and then post that same video in all of your listings. The video of course has to be 15 seconds or less and Etsy doesn't allow audio, so Canva, or other websites, could make it easier for you to put something together that would work for you with your own spin on it for your shop and the items you sell.😊

    I usually do really well in July but not this year. My shop where I sell supplies usually does the best in January, February and July. January and February was really good but I wonder if any of these affect my July sales. For the first one, I have nearly 450 listings so taking a video of every one would take a really long time. The more like this button, I saw it on listing photos actually. I was shopping and saw it as the last photo on a listing. That I don’t really like because it’s actually in someone’s listing photos but underneath a listing I don’t mind.
