I think instead of the soffit on the shower, I would have just added some PVC trim at the ceiling and called it good. A nice 3/4x3" square cut around the top of that tile would have hid the edge nicely, and given it a finished look without all the hassle. The new channel seems exciting, y'all! If nothing else, a 2nd can light would even out the shadows in the shower, especially when you're in there washing up! Happy birthday (s)!!!

I'd use Boat Twist Latches. Make a French cleat (or metal equivalent - two C channels?) to hold the top end, and a rail at the bottom edge to latch to. Install marine twist latches at the bottom end of the... pendant ceiling(??). Hang it from the cleat, rotate up and twist the latches. Locking latches might feel safer, but outside of something catastrophic they're not going to move. I would suggest inspecting them once a year to be sure everything is staying solid. Rust-o-leum of course (or similar) for all the metal pieces. You'll need to clean the dust and mold out of it at least that often anyway 😛

Love your new channel! Especially the relaxed feel & behind-the-scenes stuff. 👍🏼👍🏼
FWIW, if y’all ever build one of those hanging soffits again… look into using GoBoard instead of drywall (so light & completely mold resistant), 1x4 PVC rather than wood, & hot mud rather than regular drywall mud. (All way better in wet locations & the weight will be 1/2 or less.)
As for hanging it all: if it’s angled like this one, use gravity to your advantage… put 2 pieces of unistrut on the ceiling (top & bottom edges) & reverse 2 pieces on the soffit… will give you 2 channels that can slide together (from the side).

Awesome video brothers!!! Congratulations on your newest venture! I love the new "behind the scenes" style...personally I like it better because it's more of what I watch your videos for.
I've been in the trades since I was 12 years old and put my hands on a chrome plated circular saw and squeezed the trigger! Like you Paul, I have been fortunate enough to have taught my son and daughter what I could, both on the payroll! My son has continued and is a Journeyman Electrician, and my daughter is with the Department of Justice!
I am retired now living in the Florida Panhandle, bad knees and all...bought a 60's Rambler and will ultimately reno the entire house. Definitely did not count on the knees and materials going triple gonzo in price!
So, as I sit amidst the unfinished debris of my dreams, I truly appreciate your hard work, and seeing your dreams come true...
Keep up the great things, stay safe and humble my brothers! Love y'all!

@@PlucharC idk how to explain this in a short comment so I recommand you go watch some video about that stuff on youtube some youtubes talks about it but Its about youtube aglorithm
Basically if you always post a 1h video every 2 weeks and it gets an avrg of 500k view if you start posting "lower" perfomance video in between it can "confuse" the aglortihm and it wont recommand your videos to as many ppl so its better to have a channel for the "big" and well performing video and another one for the smaller stuff so you can try format and see how its received by your audience without "risking" your relation with the aglorihm on your main channel,

LOVING the raw footage and seeing a lot more of the personalities come out as well as the raw thought process.
My wife and I have smart bulbs in our bedroom lamps. Using them in color mode messes with your mind. We have it on orange for a soft evening lighting and it makes things subtly a different color in weird ways. Like you're eating some chips in bed and the look bright orange but the rest of your food looks normal. Just make sure the bathroom LEDs are off when you're color coordinating your outfit in the mornings XD
edit: also love the playful banter b/w Jordan and Paul. After watching the other video where Paul and his wife add the lights to the kitchen, it's clear to see they have a healthy marriage where they feel safe taking little jabs at each other. Nice to see Jordan grew up in a house that promotes that love and safety. "I was gonna take half the trash can" lol

Hey Jordan! Depending on your LED Driver, you can swap the driver out to at least allow you to get a controller that sets the strip to white (despite it being all three RGB on). It may looks close enough to white and with the diffuser might not look too far off from a kind of 'cool' white. Otherwise, replacing the whole strip in the future will of course be the best route to get you a nice white (make sure you look into RGBWW and RGBCW as well in case you want the cooler or warmer 'white' in there).
Also, mentioning Home Assistant again as something to check into if/when you get some tinkering time!
Love the shenanigans, you three seem so much like my own family I just love to see every single video pop up. Well wishes from Michigan!

Agreed, for an accent light RGB lights can be white enough. They can be any color, even warm white. They don't have good color rendering, so they arn't good for general illumination, but just as an accent color the white they produce is fine.

Hey if all else fails on that soffit, you could still do some round over (1/4 round actually) trim pieces made out of marble and just get rid of it! Would require buying a round over blade for a wet saw! I think home depot might rent one of those possibly! Or you could just buy one at harbor freight, rent a saw ,and ,run several trim pieces! Marble is soft and it wouldnt take too long! Then install them at your leisure!

RGBW will give you a single white channel. RGBCCT will give you 2 white channels - one for warm white, and one for cool white which would let you dial in that white that you want. RGBWW will also give you a higher intensity white if both white channels are on.
Then there's RGB ACL which is complete overkill, and more suitable for cinematic or photographic lighting where you get even more colors, if you really wanted to color match something.

On the very first turn, the pickup truck was traveling maybe 3 mph (if that much). I was in a car behind the guy.
