“Defenseman Sergei Zubov”
I wouldn’t say he is a forgotten star, since he is now a Hockey Hall of Famer
The stars player should have been
Brenden Morrow
Sam Sneed or Mike Ribeiro
@@father042 Or Jere Lehtinen
Well to be fair with the video maker he did say this took a long time to compile so he might’ve started before Zubov was inducted into the HoF...
Then again, it’s more likely he just hadn’t the awareness that Zubov’s in.. 🙄
He’s still remembered in NY for being the regular season points leader in 93-94 and made great contributions during the cup run.
No one is forgetting about Naslund the dude was part of the best line in hockey in the early 2000's
and part of one of the worst trades in NHL history
Definitely no one in Vancouver is forgetting about Nazzy! Guy's a rockstar here
Shiv Desai right! Should bin at least Alex burrows or Brandon Morrison
His number is hanging from the rafters for fuck sake.
His Jersey number has even been retired in Van
honorable mentions
Anaheim - Andy Mcdonald (was beast in last two seasons with the team with 85 and 78 pts in 05/06 and 06/07)
Arizona - Derek Morris (spend 10 seasons there and was good physical shutdown d-man)
Boston - Marco Sturm (solid 3 seasons with bruins before concusion problems)
Buffalo - Tim Connolly (what can I say about him, one of the best stick handlers I've ever seen, injuries and concussions derailed his career)
Calgary - alex tanguay (solid 5 seasons there, 81 points in 06/07, his overall career numbers will show you how underrated he really is)
Carolina - Glen wesley (spent 13 seasons with whalers/hurricanes franchise, good defensive d-man, played two stanley cup finals with canes and won it in 06)
Chicago - Martin Havlat (another skilled player whos career was derailed with injuries. 08-09 was his best season with hawks)
Colorado - Adam Foote (part of two stanley cup winning teams with avalanche, good stay-home d-man)
Columbus - Nikolay Zherdev (speed kills, that's what zherdev was alognside nash in jackets early years, not flashy numbers but still fun player to watch)
Dallas - Mike Ribeiro or stephane robidas (when ribeiro was a star he was arguably one of the best passers in the league with 3 50+ assists seasons there, robidas good defensive d-men, spent 11 seasons there
Detroit - Thomas Holstrom (every goalies nightmare, if screening could give you points, thomas probably would had at least 200 more points in career :) )
Edmonton - Shawn Horcoff (11 seasons with team and also wore C,he was solid with oilers and had great postseason in 06)
Florida - Nathan horton or David booth (horton is more remebered with bruins which is understandable but also shame, because his style of play was more like a goalscorer with panthers, booth spent 6 years with that mediocre panthers team and was one of their bright spots
Los Angeles - Alexander Florov - good goalscorer, had 2 30+ seasons there and also one 70+ pts season
Minnesota - Brian Rolston (he was good everywhere he went, but his best offensive seasons was with wild especially in 05/06 with 79 pts
Montreal - Michael Ryder (2 30 goal seasons there, could also gone his spot with bruins where he won cup in 2011)
Nashville - David Legwand (1st ever draft pick for predatos, still leads all-time list in every major category for franchise Points, Goals, Assists, Games Played)
New Jersey - Scott gomez (2 time stanley cup champion with devils, 3 70+ points seasons there with one he ended with 84 pts)
New york Islanders - Miroslav Satan (it's hard to forget Satan especially when guy has name like this, bust most people may don't remember him as an islander, where he spent 3 solid seasons)
New york Rangers - Martin straka (linemate with Jaromir Jagr, had 2 70+ points season)
Ottawa - Wade Redden (was absolutely beast in his prime, over 450 points in 1000+ games, most with senatos)
Philadelphia - Sami Kapanen (I was thinking putting primeau or knuble there, but decided to put kapi, small, speedy and grindy guy,
Pitsburgh - Sergei Gonchar (many people may don't agree with me on this one and I understand but I still think he is little bit underrated, maybe not really forgotten one but still kind of overlooked
San Jose - Ryan Clowe (solid physical forward who put up respectable numbers with sharks over 8 seasons)
St Louis - Eric Brewer (forget about st louis and look at his achievements with team canada, olympic gold winner, World cup of hockey winner, 3-time world champion, over 1000 games in nhl, yet many people don't even remember him which is shame
Tampa bay - Ruslan Fedotenko (big time player, great role player, scored both goals in G7 of 04 finals for tampa to win Cup)
Toronto - Nick antropov (big physical forward, spent 9 seasons with leafs and was solid contributor)
Vancouver - Brendan Morrison (he was center on that freaking "west-coast-express" with naslund and bertuzzi on the wings, yet he is hardly remembered now which is real shame)
Washington - Dainius Zubrus (was solid with caps and was one of their star player before ovechkin's arrival)
Atlanta/winnipeg - Tobias Enstrom (good puckhandling defencman, spent entire career with trashers/jets franchise, two 50+ point seasons)
turarosicky I think for Flyers, a guy like Keith Primeau is better than Sami Kapanen, but Kappy is a good choice. Also Mike Knuble. And Roman Cechmanek
I would have had Adam Foote over hedjuk Hedjuk is definitely more known
@@Jack-lq9lk also could had been Alex tunguay he was so good with avalanche, also for flames too
Yes! Holmstrom was a beast in front of the net. You talk about a guy who pseudo revolutionized to role of “pest to the goalie.”
this list > the video
What about BEST TOUGH GUY ever on each team? that would be fun!
Yes
Andy Jay Does that mean atleast 1gp with the team or more than a certain amount?
@@redneck6980 10+ fights with a given team
yes
Sabres, Ray. Done.
Zigmund Palffy for L.A. would have been good too. He had 340 pts in 311 games with them over a point per game guy in career, a forgotten star
100% agree
It's a toss up between Ziggy, Lubo, and Frolov for me. All amazing players in they're prime, just got overlooked because they spent a majority of their careers on some really bad Kings teams.
I always remembered Simon Gagne, one of my first Flyers games he gave me his stick, one of the best day of my life.
The reason why I love this channel because of the content and I agree with you alot
Lol I knew Kovalev would be on the list but I was not sure if he would be with Penguins or Canadiens.
He had a pretty impressive career with over 1000 points yet he will never get into the hall of fame probably
Also fun fact: He was the 10th highest scoring player of the 00s
I’d say Marian Hossa for Ottawa, lead the team in scoring for 2 or 3 seasons including that 2002-2003 Sens team that won the Presidents Trophy
Otto Zizak I’ve mostly heard people talk his time on Pittsburg, Detroit, Chicago and sometimes Atlanta however very rarely do I hear people talk about Ottawa
Hossa was very well known, even before he joined the Blackhawks.... I’m glad he won 3 cups because he made a huge difference...
@Otto Zizak Sill my favorite Sen of all time. Will never forgive Melnyk.
@@Scoliosis Melnyk sucks but had nothing to do with that trade
Ales Hemsky over Souray any day of the week. Souray had one good year while hemsky was good every year for them
Horcoff > both
Souray was a beast in montreal
But no one forgets Hemsky played for the Oilers. Souray barely played in Edmonton...
hemmer hand some flithy hands
JRP 90 w love ales hemsky
Montreal hasn't forgotten about Kovalev. Still have posters hanging in my room
Video Idea: Every Team’s best Fourth Line if the past decade or a variation of that.
Matthew Brand Merlot line ✊
If he did that it would be the Blues fourth line in the playoffs GO BLUUUUUUUES
I am so happy you mention Simon Gagné 👍 I was thinking maybe Mike Richard but good call
Or even Jeff Carter
I wouldn’t say Naslund was forgotten he was the biggest star on those early 00s teams. Brendan Morrison is a guy on those teams who is definitely underrated though
A video for forgotten 90s Stars should have Pierre Turgeon, Vincent Damphousse, Alex Mogilny, Craig Janney, Steve Thomas, John LeClair, Trevor Linden, Tony Amonte, Bill Guerin, Cliff Ronning, Peter Bondra, Gary Roberts, Brian Bellows and Owen Nolan
and Felix Potvin, Nikolai Khabibulin, Mike Ramsey, Vladimir Konstantinov, Chris Osgood, Igor Larionov, Scott Mellanby aka Rat Man, Zigmund Palffy, Ray Ferraro, Adam Graves, Mike Richter, Radek Bonk, Ron Tugnutt, Keith Primeau, Roman Hamrlik, and Jim Carey
and, guess who? Richard Gnida
God damn I feel my age, I remember almost every single one of those guys. Good times were had watching them all!
@@Sbastjan Do you remember when Jim Carrey "The Net Detective" won the Vezina, then disappeared... Glad he went back to acting! Crazy 90's!
kovalev .. good memories wow .. that goal without a helmet
Gabriel Paul-moreau him and fedrov May have the best no bucket goals
Great video!
5 Czech players, quite impressive
I found Derek Roy in NHL 20 so he’s very much still active at a 72 overall
shad crappypants where? Free agents?
@@leafsfanforever2896 he plays in Germany. Hes been a free agents in every game since 2016.
Must have friends at EA.
shad crappypants theres two Derek Roy’s in case you didn’t know

As a life long hockey fan, this was a fun little piece of trivia to pause it before you named each player... but I will say, one guy I called a few teams early was for St. Louis I thought it would be Andy McDonald... guess I was wrong but good pick by you nonetheless with Boyes. And I’m a Wild fan and guessed Bouchard correctly. Love that guy. A lot of great names and memories though. Thanks for all you do! Keep it up
Hella good video dude
It’s so interesting to be reminded of these forgotten players because so many guys just fade away
I'll never fade away... They will never figure me out!!!
Vrbata was definitely one of my favorite Yotes of all time. Got his signature up on my wall!
I can't imagine any Avalanche fan forgetting Milan Hejduk. He was great and, in my opinion, might sneak into the HOF one day. Not sneak in the way I do to avoid the overpriced admission charge but legitimately. As for my Leafs: 1980s, Rick Vaive, 1970s Ian Turnbull, before that you got me.
Samsonov is one if my favorite Bruins players, in fact, my whole family loved him. He is still a well remembered Bruin for a lot of fans, however, I have no idea how remembered he is outside of Boston
Do best undrafted players
And I realized the new subscribe intro
Just now watching. Love the vid
I love that your pick for the Penguins is Sykora! When I was young, I loved to pick a player on the Penguins I felt was an "underdog" and Sykora was my pick for those 08 and 09 cup runs. I even got his jersey, though I've well outgrown it now.
I love ur content u have a great opinion on hockey and I agree with you a lot
Us Avs fans haven't forgotten Hejduk. 23 hangs in the rafters of Pepsi Center, rightfully so.
Also, Franzen is a great pick for the Wings. I never liked him as an Avs fan, because he was great at scoring on us haha, but that dude had some serious skill.
Did you ever think going to the bardown show on youtube from tsn? Your hockey knowledge is insane and i think you would be an awesome fit in there. Hopefully i’ll see you at least one time on one of their quiz. Sorry for my english, i am speaking french :)
I would put Marc Savard for consideration for Boston (if we aren’t counting the Thrashers as the Jets). He had a 96, 78, and 88 point season with Boston before injuries ended the rest of his career.
David Vyborny was my favorite player as a kid! It’s hard to even footage of him now
Visnovsky, Ziggy Palffy, Jason Allison, and Adam Deadmarsh(aka LAPD Line) are all big forgotten stars from LA
Gagne was the Player that made me fall in love with the sport :)
Sabres have a lot of guys that were fantastic
Chris drury
Danny briere
Thomas vanek
Brian Campbell
Derek Roy
Maxim Afinegenov
Ryan Miller
I feel like a bunch of these guys are remembered but that not a lot of people remember how GOOD they were, especially guys like miller who’s on the back end of his career and vanek who recently retired
Devils - not a bad choice with Langenbrunner, but the guy who immediately jumps to mind for me is John Madden. 10 year Devil (98-09), 2x Cup Winner, 1x Cup Finalist, 2x 20 goal scorer, Selke winner 2000-01, and generally considered one of the best 2-way players of that decade.
Gionta and Pandolfo are guys that can fill in that list of forgotten players
Cool, I was actually thinking about Sykora when you got to the Devils and when you didn't pick him I thought, hmm, maybe he'll get picked for the Pens? And sure enough he did...
Hi Ohnyquist. Hope ur doing well during this time
Cookie Playz thanks, you as well!
For Ottawa I’d say Mike Fisher imo. From 2005 - 2010 he was pretty solid and he’s likely not as well remembered as Danny Heatley considering he was our superstar. Regardless great video, love your channel!
Ou that’s a good one! I love Mike Fisher
OhNyquist Sergi Gonchar or Jordan Stall for the pens?
Graham Hrebicek I wouldn’t say Sergei go char is a forgotten star as he was the pens best defenceman before letang. He is also in the coaching system now with the penguins.
Maybe even Milan Michalek?
The Avs retired Hejduk's number, so he isn't forgotten here. I'd probably say Dan Hinote or Marek Svatos (RIP)
Idk why but always happy to hear Franzén still getting some light. A beast in front of the goal and tough as a rock. A solid grinder with a friendly face and a kind heart :)
I have a video idea! Players who had 2 different stints with a team such as prospal which you mentioned in this video. If I'm not mistaken, filpulla on the red wings played for them earlier in his career? Idk haha thought itd be a cool vid if there are even other guys like this
Simon Gagne isn’t that forgotten in Philly, at least by fans who were cheering for them for the majority of the 2000s. Some other guys that you could say for Philly are Keith Primeau, Mike Knuble, Roman Cechmanek, Sami Kapanen
”He still plays in Germany” shows a pic of Linkoping in SHL 2:01
I feel like Dany Heatley is mainly remembered for the car crash now
Also Thrashers/Jets should definitely be Slava Kozlov and Blues Pavol Demitra
Dany Heatley is mainly remembered for being a Fuckin' All Star
Dany Heatly is mainly remembered for scoring 50 in 07
maybe it's because I played so much of NHL 07 so I remember a lot of those stars but I wouldn't call Hedjuk, Heatley, Gagner, Kovalev, Cheechoo or Naslund forgotten stars, they're either overshadowed or were dominant for a short time
Chris Drury is currently the Rangers Assistant GM
For the Rangers probably should’ve said Michael Nylander. Was just about point per game playing top line duty with Jagr and Martin Straka. Was a perfect compliment for Jagr and always seemed to be able to get the puck to him. Kinda like the Nik Backstrom to Ovi
Honourable mention for Montreal: Tomas Plekanec
You should do a number 2 of this video. So many guys out there
My favorite part about 2000s videos is recognizing the equipment players had and making my Christmas wishlist
such as the TPS rubber lol
Huselius was really great for 🔥 and a guy like tangauy as well. Great playmakers that helped Iggy get that last 50 goal season. As a die hard though I gotta say our most underrated guy was our anchor on the backend. Robyn Regehr. Crosby even said he was one of the hardest players to play against. He didn’t score a tone of points but he could write a book about good defensive positioning. He was so instrumental in Calgary’s success.
I would've gone with Dick Tarnstrom for the Penguins. If you asked somebody who the last player to lead the Penguins in scoring other than Crosby or Malkin was I doubt many people would know it was Tarnstrom, as a defenseman no less.
I want a pt 2 to this
Imma say Thomas Kaberle for Toronto he was a beast on NHL 06
"Derrick Roy is actually still playing professionally in germany" *shows picture of im in Linköpings hockey club jersey* (swedish SHL team btw)
yes so its not only me who saw it!!
Definitely Daniel Briere for me for either Philly or Buffalo. Hated playing against him
Simon Gagne for the Flyers was a GREAT pick! Watching this legit made me think about all the old nhl games I used to play lol
Bobby Jones what about Roman Cechmanek? Man he was very great with the Flyers before leaving the NHL for good in 2004
Keith Primeau is also forgotten
Stockholm Marksmen both very good choices! Me not even thinking about them is proof lol. Cechmanek was the closest thing to a legit goalie the flyers had in awhile but I think he would lose to a guy like primeau or Gagne because of his reputation for inconsistency
Another forgotten star for the devils could be Patrik Elias. He’s the all time leader in scoring and I feel is very underrated.
I could think of 3 guys that are forgotten in NJ. Brian Gionta,Jay Pandolfo and John Madden
I’d go with Nagy for Arizona ! :o
I think the flames could be tanguy or gellinas (if you don’t know who gellinas is he’s the guy who scored the goal they didn’t count that cost the flames the Stanley cup against TB in 2004)
So many awesome players on this list
It's gotta be Kolzig for the Caps. Of course Ovechkin was their best player of the 2000s but he's hardly forgotten. It wasn't the best decade for the franchise. They had some players who were really good at the start of the decade, like Bondra, Jagr, Oates, and Robert Lang. Then there was the firesale and rebuild and a completely new cast of stars. Kolzig was the only constant.
You should do the best offensive lines or best defensive pairings of the season
This list is hockey cards I wasn't disappointed to get as a kid, but not excited about either.
Should've had the Atlanta Trashers instead of the Jets. But great video!
Me thinks you should do a "best all time fighter" of each team 🥰
Miika was the best there was in the 2000's I don't think he will be forgotten anytime soon. Huselius was a solid pick on that team.
Should do that with the 90s aswell
Nice list, agree with all except Hejduk and Kovalev though. If you’re more than just a casual hockey fan you should easily remember them they were elite players for more than a couple years.
I feel like Simone Gagne is very fondly remembered in Philly. Actually the first guy to pop into my mind was Ville Leino. He had one good season (10/11) before cashing in with Buffalo. RJ Umberger is another guy who had a few good years too. Fun Video, so much room for debate!
Do the biggest studs in the 5th round or later ( recent drafts ) Also looking at there stats in juniors, KHL, or other leagues
Great video, but as a Canucks fan I wouldn't say that Naslund was forgotten. He's still super celebrated and loved in Vancouver. I'd say a forgotten star of the 2000s was definitely Mattias Ohlund. Played a ton of games, logged big minutes a ton of 30 point seasons and was a rock on the blue line.
Didn't mean to criticize. It was a solid video!
For Vancouver, what about Todd Bertuzzi? Or are you not picking him because of that controversial incident against Steve Moore?
I dont think Naslubd maybe gets mentioned as much as he should, but I feel most people remember at the very least that he was a great player. I wouldve picked Bertuzzi, people forget he was a legit star player for some time
I think Sabres have quite many forgotten stars: Jochen Hecht, Chris Drury, Maxim Afinogenov, just to name a few. Yes I believe Sabres fans remember every single one of them, but not the whole NHL.
No one forgets how good Heater was. He is a fucking All-Star
Video idea: Ranking every teams top line this season
Chris Stewart for at least one of his 40+ seasons
Visnovsky is a good pick for the Kings, but I think Palffy would had been a better pick.
Hejduk and Naslund both have their numbers retired and were absolute monsters for years. Don’t think Nucks or Aves fans are forgetting those Guys
I'd say Tim Connolly for Buffalo. His career never amounted to his level of talent due to injuries (concussions). He was "nearly" a point per game player for the Sabres, besides his last season here. He missed the entire 06-07 season and when he came back he never really got the respect he deserved around the city. People saw his potential and either dismissed it because he was made of glass or just thought he wasn't putting in the effort. He was a FORCE with the puck. When it comes to puck skills and hands him and Eichel are above every other Sabre since the year 2000.
Langenbrunner also played for the stars and he won a cup with the stars and devils
So did Grant Marshall
I don't think Marcus Naslund is that forgotten but great video
Hejduk has not been forgotten
How was the Kings one not Ziggy Palffy?!?!? Dude was a superstar
You should do best shot on each team
Spittin chiclets best hockey podcast no cap
Colorado - marek Svatos
Dallas - Roman Turek. Zubov is too big of a name to be considered "forgotten". I'm pretty sure most people think Modano, belfour, and Zubov when they think of the Stars from that era.
Edmonton- ales Hemsky or Kimo Timmonen. Souray is more of a canadian than an oiler.
Nashville - scott Walker. I think of Arnott as Devil or a Star. He didnt play enough for nashville.
Ottawa - I dont think anybody forgets heatley and how good he was. How bout Martin Prusek. Was only good for a couple years, but a better option than heatley.
Philadelphia - gagne was the face of the Flyers during the 2000's, probably the first person anybody who remembers the 2000's would think of when they think philadelphia. Instead, how bout brian boucher.
Pittsburgh - sykora didnt play for Pittsburgh enough, he woulda been a good option for Jersey though.
Vancouver - nobody forgets Naslund. Try Brent Sopel.
Washington - Danius Zubrus.
Do a "freak of nature" hockey players - Gretzky (intellect), McDavid (speed), Ovy (shot).
You could have done Camilari ( sorry if I spelt that wrong) for the flames
Huselius would’ve been known more if he didn’t get injured
Vishnovsky, definitely. Hejduk and Gagne, definitely under-appreciated outside of Colorado and Philadelphia. Sykora, yeah I can see that. Arnott, yeah he definitely, at least by me, is more remembered for his time in New Jersey, after that he kinda drops off the map. Zubov is kind of an odd one for me, on the one hand, yes he's a hall of famer, on the other, I kinda get it because when I think back on those great Dallas stars seasons the first names that come to mind are Modano, Hull, and Belfour, and only when somebody mentioned Zubov's name did I go, oh yeah that's right how did I forget about him, and I'm an Avs fan too.
I'd say Lehtinen would have been a better pick for Dallas.
A lot of former Devils on this list. Not sure what to make of that.
@OhNyquist did you know that Vinny Prospal is the nickname of Václav Prospal?
Havent heard some of these names in forever
Here is a video idea it might be dumb but. Best hockey smile
