    Great video Bill, nothing better than a freezer full of meat. Tell your buddy to save a scapula out of one the front shoulders of that moose, dry it out, and wrap the handle with leather or para cord. A lot easier to carry around than a sheet of plywood!

    This is why I enjoy this channel, it's not 'A couple with their three kids move to 10 degrees below the artic circle and find out it's cold' here we get to see a better slice of life.

    Get a decent walking beam tub trailer and stick with your Honda for hauling moose. Argo is only useful if you must float to get your moose out. Otherwise, you’ll spend more time fixing it than using it.

    Nice animal , I shot one once late evening just as it was getting dark then my buddy cut his hand before we could start to clean the moose yes I had my work cut out as we cleaned it by the light of a Coleman lantern LOL Luckily we didn't have far to lug it had it all in the vehicle before we finished the night and back to the campsite where out buddies helped us hang it.

      I got my moose 11km from our camp this year, across a lake in the back of the swamp. If it wasn’t for 2 Argos and 3 other crazy ppl I’d still be in the swamp lol

  • @davidbrewer7937
    @davidbrewer7937 2 года назад

    Jeez! Broken axle shaft in your Argo...how did that happen? I would speculate you were over the weight capacity with 1000lbs+ of animal plus a couple of guys in there... I use an older 8x8 Conquest for this job (moose extraction) which is a tank, but I hated the swimming tires (does not swim worth a light with them anyway) so I switched them out for a set of ITP Mudlites this season. They are much better & they swim better than the standard Runamucks. The Argo is our go-to for this job & it's most attractive feature is the ability to thrash a new trail in stuff you could not cross no matter... the water performance is so-so as far as I am concerned. We have an old truck bed liner which we carry rolled up & roll the moose onto that then we can drag it without beating the meat up. Great moose by the way...about the same size as mine this year.

    Other than that spot of bad luck with the argo it was a nice hunt. I would have thought that the quarters would go around 120 given the rack but correct me if I am wrong but I thought I saw 96. Great job.

    William, can you please show your method of bagging meat before it goes into the freezer? It seems to be different than anything I have seen before. I’m always looking for a new way to do things.

    • @Biglandtrapper
      @Biglandtrapper  2 года назад

      I already had put away before I seen your comment but generally I just put away in large pieces and then cut one of those pieces as I need it. I find larger pieces keep better especially for longer term storage.... Wrap very tight, as long as air doesn't get at it it will last for a very long time..

    Looks like loads of fun WL, good stuff! I have had Argos for 30 years and like all machines you have to use with some respect and watch where and how you go. On rough ground, low gear is a must if you want to not beat it to pieces, watch where you go and as well save the trees ! Slow and easy wins the race with them bud and they will get you there and back with all your gear and meat!
