Most of the people living in Swiss have the half price subscription which give you the right to buy train tickets for half of the price.
That's true but not everybody has the half fare card, especially tourists.

Hey, several stories missing in the video: 7.8k is the GROSS MEDIAN salary, which means, before tax, and the sky-high 200k+ a year salaries (many in Zurich due to banks and finance) weight a lot on that number. No mention that healthcare is private like in the US, and on top of the already very high monthly premium, you will likely pay hundreds if not thousands a year in extra costs. The 6-USD cappuccino tells you that each time you wanna go out for dinner with friends you will easily end up spending 50-USD for a basic meal. Renting is also expensive - if you're a family of three, 2000 USD/month, not central, and if you're very lucky. And not a chance to buy an apartment, too expensive even with a very high salary. Childcare, also private, is prohibitively expensive.
Long story short, as always, you need to look at the big picture. The truth is that the Swiss Franc is extremely overvalued, being a safe heaven. If the exchange rate were 1 USD = 2 CHF your salary would look more humane, but you wouldn't be the only fool on this planet paying 50 USD for 1 kg of chicken, or 40 USD for 10 minutes of taxi. :)
My wife and I recently moved from Zurich to London on similar jobs (no finance or stuff like that), and despite "earning less" now we would save exactly the same amount each month, if it weren't for the fact that here in London there are 500k more things to do compared to Zurich, and thus we (happily!) end up spending more :)

Those are really good points, especially because I didn’t know any of this and it’s nice to know coming from someone who actually lived there. I can’t believe how can a coffee be 6 USD or how can they charge you 40 USD for a 10-minute taxi ride. Here in Argentina stuff like that seems to be pretty cheap (i.e. 1 or 2 USD for a coffee, same for a 10-minute taxi ride) but the thing is the devaluation in the country is killing us. Our currency is each month less and less valuable, which makes no room for us to save. I used to earn $900 on an entry junior position 2 years ago. Now I’m in a senior role earning $400 USD per month (after taxes) and I can barely save anything at all. Rent is around $200 USD. I wish I could save to at least get out and live in Europe but I hope someday I will. Thanks and I’m glad you guys could move out to London, it must be amazing to live there, what a dream! Hope I can visit there sometime as well :)

Saltás como patriota garca al pedo. La comparación que hacés no cuenta. Yo hablo con fundamento de que no cobramos la suficiente cantidad para ahorrar en dólares. Ese salario que ganamos lo gastamos.
@@hooman-26 if you get the chance to leave/move out of Argentina, I'd suggest Copenhagen, Zurich, Dublin, or Oslo, among larger (of sorts) cities; or Geneva, Basel, Reykjavik, or Luxembourg, among smaller ones. Yes, it can be very expensive, especially if you're an outsider who just arrived to live there, but, in terms of quality of life/standards of living, these are some of the best (lest, the best) cities in the World, in which to live. I wish you the best of luck!

If you look for a job it's preferable that you speak German... But you have a chance even only with english

@@hooman-26 yes cheap, average income is 7800$ so for average salary is it really that much (6$) for a coffee? Also 7$ per 10 minute ride isn't really true, you can buy a year pass and you can ride as long as you wish and cost goes down significantly. Compared to London Zurich is really cheap place to live if you compare earnings to costs.

Umm, Zurich is a large city; in fact, it is the only large city in Switzerland!
There is Bern, Basel and Geneva that are also pretty big.

@@pattifilms7858 well, Zurich is considered a large city, not like New York, or Los Angeles, but more like Dublin, or Oslo; Geneva, Basel, as well as Bern, and Lausanne, on the other hand, are considered mid-size cities, like Arhus, or Bergen!
In the other video you complained Florianopolis was hard to get to know people. But imagine being a foreigner in Zurich. You can live there for years and literally won't know anybody, not even your neighbors. Forget about breaking into swiss social circles. Brazil is way better in that regard. Try Dominican Republic and see how that compares. It will blow away all european countries.

I wouldn't recommend buying a car here. In the city itself Public transportation is very reliable. Also, driving in the city with a car is a bit of a nightmare because of all the radar around and fines are very expensive.
