Hey! Thanks for rocking out with us and reacting to "Unpopular"! Appreciate the positive feedback! Get ready for more music coming with our new album "Revolution" on Nov. 1. 🎸
This band is still sounding as great as ever! I love how long Jon's beard has gotten over the years. Is he going for a world record? :) The world has definitely gone mad, and I think sometimes it's just best to remain unpopular. What do you guys think of this video/message?
Yes, they are using that S on the riser this tour. I saw them live last week and they played this song. Supposedly live for the first time. I saw that someone else that was at the show has it up on RUclips, if you want to see them doing it live. If you want to see other songs from the concert, I have a few on my RUclips channel.
I was wondering when they would come out with a new album. It was about that time. I feel like they are pretty popular but I know there are some haters. Especially the Christians say they sold out. No they just got better and are reaching the masses. Helping so many young people heal and come to God. They are doing the work while others just judge because they dont like their style or because they are " mainstream now " lol. Great song. Looking forward to the album.
Am I the only one who would love to see that S on some merch? And maybe have John Cooper's quote, (from a recent interview) "It's a good day to be unpopular."
Thanks for the reaction! Great song and lyrics by Skillet, never lose sight of your beliefs. You love the snare sound? - Then you absolutely need to react to “THE WARNING”, three sisters from Mexico, Paulina is amazing (rock drummer of the year 2023 by Drumeo), they all are incredible musicians with intelligent songwriting, meaningful and relevant lyrics, great rock that has been missing. Always done their own thing, independent for a long time. As a FIRST introduction to the band I would recommend waiting with the newest material, a good start is official video for “CHOKE” (for later Live performance of “EVOLVE” at 2023 MTV Video Music Awards)
Love the message of this song. It seems like a simple song (musically), but the more I've heard it, they've got lots of great complexity and details buried in it. Love it, even if it isn't even close to my favourite by them. If you want a great song that needs more reaction love, "I Want to Live" is one of my favourites, and for whatever reason, doesn't seem to be one of their popular songs. It is so Skillet, though (at least the last decade or two). It has a bit of everything. (There is a 'official audio' version, but also a fan-made version with the studio track overlaid by tour footage... to give something to watch.)
It is a simple song musically, but that also makes the message stand out clear, which I don't mind :). And I will add "I want to live" to my big list of to-do's. Thank you for reaching out 😁
That's great! And it's also great to hear Christian music in the mainstream. NEEDTOBREATHE is a great Christian rock group, in case you haven't heard of them! :)
Lyrically, it breaks the fourth wall which makes it feel cringe. 🤷♀️ But I rock to it! I love when John says "family sanity everything i need" and it cuts to Korey lol. Can't wait for the album!
It's crazy that people attack some popular celebrities for no good reason. It's obvious that it's jealousy. Skillet is so great. And honestly when they release any new songs I keep saying "This is my favourite Skillet song" then they release a new one and it's better than the previous one somehow. I still remember the day they first released (Surviving the game) and I said "This is my favourite Skillet song of all time" and now they released (Unpopular) which hits harder somehow. I guess the key is that Skillet's songs don't rely on using foul language or anything inappropriate in their videos to be lovable by people nowadays. Just using simple lyrics that also has a great message with catchy instrument works well for me in my opinion. Skillet is so awesome. I'm so glad they don't listen to haters.
I swear i will always love metal and rock. You want to know the bands who always tell you the things you sometimes need to hear its them. You might not like what they have to say but fuck it be unpopular. Its not your problem its theres.
As someone who is now 29 years old and a small part of the behind the scenes of the Christian rock industry (although nowhere near their level).......I grew up as an obsessed Panhead my entire teen years, and I hadn't heard the freakshow trivia. Can you share where you found that out, I would love to hear John talking about it! I've always heard John say that he and the other original members had a youth pastor who told them to start a side project together and it became a kinda joke about how joining together from other groups would be like taking different musical elements and pouring it into a skillet to mix it up....and that John hates the name lol.
@@LiamMcDermott-ot6pf when I was 15, my youth group had an overnight get together at my church, where we watched lord of the rings, played games, talked about God, and had good food. There was a raffle for a few items, and we each got 1 ticket. I put my ticket in the bucket for the MP3 player (the first of its kind), because my portable CD player broke, and I badly wanted to listen to P.O.D, and didn't have anything to listen to them on. (This was during their Satellite era). There were, If I can recall, about 70+ entries for that MP3 player, and I just prayed I would get it (obviously something selfish to pray about).. but sure enough, I won it! The only thing I ever won in my life (even till now). I got home, loaded P.O.D onto my computer, filled with excitement of putting my favorite band's music on this new device I've never seen before, and... For the life of me, I could not figure out how to put the songs on the MP3 player... I got frustrated for weeks on end, before selling it to a guy for $50 bucks down the road. With that money I bought a new portable CD player, so I can listen to my P.O.D CDs If I was just a little bit older, I would known those were WAV files, and not MP3 files..😂 Anyways, sorry for the long story, but I wanted to share my story, and the lengths I went to listen to my favorite band when I was a kid. Hope you enjoyed the story haha
They are unpopular because they won't buy into the mainstream. I've been to several Skillet Concerts, and listen to John Coopers podcast. He is the same of this Christian values, and never is afraid to tell people what he thinks.

I’ve never seen a crowd turn away from a band as quickly as they did at Louder than Life when they introduced this song by saying a bunch of bigoted shit. 😂 It was really disappointing because my teen daughter had just commented how the atmosphere of inclusivity at the festival was so amazing then these clowns start talking 😢 shameful
@@Mattskilletguy He's saying he doesn't care about confirming to the world. Rock and roll is non-conformist. And there's a lot of people that bash Skillet for being open about being Christians. Hence the "Guess I'm the one you been talking about/I guess I am the one/whatever" line.

Saying girls dont belong in Rock seems sexist
@@Jason_Moore619 agreed. That billboard in their video seemed concerning if people actually have said that. Women in rock just.... Rock ☺️
