There is such a melancholic realness to the story of Killmonger. So many young black and brown children have their loved ones taken from them prematurely because of the culture that surrounds them, and the cyclical nature of fatherlessness is perpetuated for generations. I think the portrayal of Killmonger's character and his change of heart is a perfect display of the hearts of many people put in unfortunate situations.
60% of black children have their fathers in their lives. There is no cyclical nature of fatherlessness being perpetuated. There is a conservative media narrative of black fatherlessness being perpetuated for obvious reasons.
Killmonger was one of the more interesting antagonists of the MCU for sure. The narrative that the movie tried to convey was that his extreme actions were motivated by pain he suffered in his past. Black Panther is still my favorite MCU film in that it took bold risks for a Disney film and executed its story rather well.

There is a deleted scene with Okoye and W’Kabi having a discussion after Killmonger takes the throne and before her discussion with Nakia. One of the best acted scenes and really fleshes out W’Kabi’s motive and Okoye’s dilemma. it’s unfortunate it ended up on the cutting floor.
They threaded an incredible needle in the writing of this movie. I agree that the screenwriters did an excellent job of adapting things to modern day- making it relevant and compelling. However the basic concept of Black Panther the hero and the nation of Wakanda aren't new... it's how they were introduced back in the 1960s, and the movie just stayed true to that.
When they decide at the end to share resources with the world, they never specified weapons. THAT would be a mistake to share advanced weaponry to the world, but it's more technology as resources to uplift communities (medicine, housing, food etc. is what I assumed).

You questioned the motivations of W'Kabi, which I get, but he's very similar to Killmonger. His father was murdered and his family was promised vengeance since he was probably a child, and he grows up getting more and more resentful of the fact that nothing is being done. Then his best friend takes the throne, is told directly that justice would be served, and again is let down. I think if Killmonger never shows up, they probably patch things over as someone hurt saying something hurtful. But then here comes this stranger who coincidentally is dragging along one of the things you've wanted most in your life. You might feel indebted to that man. Also, he's part of the Border tribe, so he's probably interacted with the outside world much more than the average Wakandan, so it's possible that also factors into why he suddenly supports Killmonger. Also, the weapons from Homecoming are made using the Chitauri technology left over from the first Avengers.
Do not worry about holding back emotions or apologizing for them, you will experience many (if not most), especially in the next movie. So wonderful seeing you put things together and sudden realizations. Thanks for always trying to tell us what's going on in your mind.
Killmonger is the true hero of this movie. Disney forced him to do bad things, like attacking the elders, being disrespectful to his own people, or killing innocents in cold blood. By only looking at his motivation to be a villain, children might get confused about whether the hero is Black Panther or him.
He's not the hero, but he was the catalyst for the needed change in Wakanda. You don't set up a Wakandan Empire, murder anyone who opposed your rule and their offspring, and basically kill/threaten to kill anyone not on your side. He showed T'Challa the way, though; if Boseman had lived, we'd be in a world where N'Jadaka inspired him to place Wakandan support all over Black Africa, and the African Diaspora even broader than that. Something that you should include in your adventure of marvel films is the "Venom" films staring Tom Hardy. They started the same year as Black Panther. It will make sense later through the marvel films why you should watch them.

I think this movie points out a thing about marvel i love the most. Every mini franchise within marvel is sooooo different. In terms of style and story and soundtrack. Black panther is so different to thor, which is so different to cap, to guardians, to dr strange etc. normally a company making 30 films would be seen as beating a dead horse from the 5th movie at the best case. But theyve managed to keep it refreshing. Believe me captain america has my favourite movies with winter soldier and civil war but if every movie was that style you know id be bored very quickly
You are correct about the villain aspect. The reasoning. So ,no spoilers here at all, while infinity war please try to really pay attention to what the villain says. It is easy to miss or misshear the reasoning, because it is said and explained through the movie not in one scene and with few lines tha are not repeatable. So when the villain talks , try to listen carefully. Also prepare for everything. My advice, of you feel you need to , pause the movie. Great reactions hope you are well in your personal life !
Before you shed too many tears for Killmonger and his "pain", please remember that every bump he had on his skin is for a person he had killed. I don't care how much emotional trauma you've experienced or had to endure. It doesn't give you free reign to kill hundreds of people or make you a sympathetic character. He was the villain in this and a heartless, self-absorbed monster. He didn't care about making things right for anyone else in the world. He wanted to punish Wakanda and his family
If you didn't remember, since I'm not seeing a full reaction, Klaue (played by Andy Circus) has a fake hand and arm because Ultron cut off his arm in Avengers Age of Ultron. He was the guy selling Ultron Vibranium in Africa, When Wanda made the Hulk go crazy in the city and Iron-Man had to stop him. The Vibranium he sold Ultron, was Vibranium he stole, and thus why they're trying to apprehend him (also he killed Wakabi's father when stealing the Vibranium, thus why Wakabi is so quick to side with Killmonger when he shows up with a dead Klaue's body.) Also, because you didn't remember the end of Civil War, with Bucky being frozen in Wakanda, Agent Ross, the U.S. government agent who was shot, then flew the planes at the end, was also in Civil War. He helped T'challa at the base where they initially captured Bucky, before Zemo said the words and made him go brainwashed assassin. He also talked to Zemo at the end, when he said that Zemo's plan failed, and Zemo replied, "Did it?"
Black Panther has to be in the top 10 greatest marvel movies of all time and one of the greatest superhero movies of all time Not because it's about a black superhero but because the story telling is nearly flawless
Just a reminder before you dive into Infinity War about the mid-credits scene in Thor Ragnarok. As Thor, Loki, and company are heading back to Earth, they were intercepted by a very very large ship. You're about to find just who that ship belongs to ;)
Out of all the MCU movies, this one holds a special place in my heart. Before I saw this in theaters, I had a vivid dream of my grandpa stepping down from Heaven. We embraced as I told him how sorry I was for not being there to say goodbye. He said there's nothing to apologize for and he'll always watch over us. We said our farewells and I watch him walk back to Heaven. I then woke up crying. The ancestral plane scene takes me back to the dream and make me cry every time. Stan Lee created Black Panther and Chadwick Boseman is the one who truly brought the character to life. Great respect to both of them. RIP to my grandfather, Stan and Chadwick. Wakanda forever!
@@sastaassh1112 Putting it that way is really selling it short. It's not just some cheap attempt to get black people to watch the MCU, it's a brilliantly executed piece of cinema that is respectful to the heritage of the people it depicts.
I actually thought the majority of the Marvel villains were pretty one note but agree wholeheartedly that Killmonger is one of the more layered ones along with the likes of Loki and Thanos.
Stef, when your are talking about your own struggles, I can suggest two quotes to keep in mind. The first is from the Hippocratic Oath that doctors take: "either help, or do no harm". The other is the Golden Rule: "Do to others as you would have them do to you". If you consider an action by these quotes, rather than just reacting without thinking, you will do the right thing. After a while it will become a habit, and you won't have think before acting. ==== We previously saw Klaue in Age of Ultron. He was the weapons dealer who sold the Vibranium to Ultron for his next body, then got his arm cut off by mentioning Tony Stark. Its been replaced by an artificial laser arm. He had nothing to do with Spiderman Homecoming. The Vulture started out by cleaning up after the Battle of New York in Avengers 2012, and pocketing some the alien tech to sell. Later they were stealing alien tech from the Department of Damage Control who took over cleaning up collateral damage. Andy Serkis (Klaue) also played Gollum and Martin Freeman (CIA agent Ross) played Frodo in The Hobbit. So this was a Fellowship of the Ring reunion of sorts. Since so many actors in this film are black, on the set they called themselves the "Tolkien white boys". 🙂 Except for Klaue, who knew he was a bad person for selling weapons, and kind of crazy too, everyone in this film thought they were doing the right thing. Unfortunately "the right thing" wasn't the same thing for everyone. The other theme in this film is rigidly following tradition and getting violent in defense of tradition, vs sitting down and talking, and maybe admitting that things are changing and tradition has to bend with those changing. Shuri (T'challah's sister) is the embodiment of change. She is young and Tony Stark level smart. The ones who fought with Killmonger put tradition first, even if it meant putting a very bad person on the throne.
"Why's he do that?" W'Kabi was fed up with the choices his leadership was making & thought he finally had a leader who agreed with him about challenging the world order that he felt that had gone on too long & that they were hiding when they shouldn't have to.
Bucky was in Wakanda as a favor to Captain America after Captain America Civil War and they helped Bucky but you will get more of that backstory in the Falcon and Winter Soldier series.
Remember the end credits of Captain America: Civil War Bucky opted to go on ice until his brainwashing could be taken care of. Black Panther offered to help him and Cap.
If you remember.... at thge end of Civil War, he went to Wakanda, and was sent back into a deep freeze until they could get the trigger words out of his head.
You saying that you wish you could be like Killmonger and hurt people who have hurt you, but you are too good of a person for that. The way you talk about people and the emotions you show in these reviews shows how big your heart is and why you are so popular in these platforms. People who are mean or hurtful will eventually get what they dished out! Just keep being who you are!
Stef, structure is very important. Routines. It's fun to shake them loose, test limits every so often. I can see a structured life turning away from structure. I won't pretend that my accommodations appear organized, but that's because to me, they are organized, no matter how they appear to others. I'm not going to tell anyone how to live their life, I am simply going to say that personally, I liked the structure more.
People often completely miss the underlying analogy at play with the character of Killmonger. The whole "we left him behind" is a cinematic double entendre. Throughout the early 1900's and really up until the 70's and 80's with the rise of black awareness and black nationalism a narrative existed with African Americans questioning why nations in Africa never attempted to bring them back to Africa. It was a whole abandonment narrative that Black Americans had to reclaim the African roots and heritage in order to be re-embraced by Africa. It was there from Marcus Garvey and the "Back to Africa" movement all through the civil rights era even through the 80's and 90's with Black musicians and artists wearing black medallions and conscious rap. This is what is at play here in analogy with Killmonger embodying that narrative. When T'Challa confronts the Wakandian Kings and Black Panthers of the past with "Why didn't you bring the child home?", this is the question Black Americans for many years posed to Africa and there was a love / hate resentment over this unanswerable question for many years. Even now the disconnect exists. This is what Ryan Coogler was pulling from and why it hit different and many can relate to Killmonger's motivations even though his methods and overall goals were flat out wrong.
Zemo, Killmonger, and Thanos are my favorite MCU villains. Killmonger is the only villain to change the hero’s world view. Because of Erik, T’challa went from isolationism to engaging with the world.

Lupita Nyong'O is actually Kenyan who was born in Mexico. She could speak English, Kenyan, and fluently Spanish. Since Chadwick Boseman died, I actually cried that one of my favorite actors died and man, couldn't resist crying. He's a true hero and icon who was battling cancer without any problems. He's tough enough to act with that cancer amazing. One of my favorite movies of his is 42, Black Panther and Get On Up. Get On Up is still the best biopic movie ever. Wakanda Forever my king, icon, and hero for young African Americans. Also to mention that the 2 black panther movie soundtrack are great. Ludwig Goransson is the best composer for movies and TV. In the first movie, Ludwig collaborate with Kendrick Lamar to do an album for Black Panther. Just wait for Namor and the Talokanils, He's my favorite villain/antihero ever.
RIP King!
I love it when the Spanish slips out.
Relatable antagonists that muddy the waters of right and wrong make such good and worth while storytelling. That's why this movie is so good
Stef, you aren't as loud as you think you are. We want you to scream, gasp, cry and laugh without holding yourself back.
I think the problem is the audio from the movie being quiet because you raise the volume to better hear everything and it's not balanced since she's louder.
I know they made it for the copyright stuffs but it's my opinion and
I don't really mind.
That came out wrong
It sounds weird,If you look at this comment twice 😂😂😂
@@rifat_hossain139lmao
@@maxTheTimeSlasherit’s nowhere near as unbalanced as it used to be. I think it’s fine now
So it begins , next reaction is going to be insane 😊
Something that you should include in your adventure of marvel films is the "Venom" films staring Tom Hardy. They started the same year as Black Panther. It will make sense later through the marvel films why you should watch them.
Black Panther still to this day remains one of the best Marvel films I've ever watched. R.I.P. Chadwick Boseman. And also: Wakanda Forever!
his and robin Williams are the only two celebrities i drop tears for to this day watching their work...truly gone too soon, both of them had a way with inspiration
First, RIP Chadwick🙅🏽♂️
Second, Oh my god. I am so happy, the next is infinity war. 🤩😁😎😊🤫🤯😳😱😓😢!!!!!!!! Every emotion in one movie... buckle up everyone
On the way home to Earth, the Asgardians ran into a big, scary ship in space (that we had seen before as Ronan's ship) in the post-credit scene for Ragnarok.
Infinity War needs a 2 part video
25:55 I think Klaue killed his dad and expected T'Challa to have done better with capturing him.
Right
Don't worry about the shirt.. it's all Disney now anyway lol
My top 10 favorite MCU movies
1. Captain America The Winter Soldier
2. Spider-Man No Way Home
3. Avengers Infinity War
4. Black Panther
5. Deadpool & Wolverine
6. Iron Man
7. Avengers Endgame
8. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3
9. Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings
10. Thor Ragnarok
You’re right, she’s from the movie US
“My stress level with Marvel movies is so high…”
*looks at the movie up next*
Oh honey… get ready.
‘I made it rain!!’ Is my favorite line from Klaue😂😂
The Vibranium he sold Ultron, was Vibranium he stole, and thus why they're trying to apprehend him (also he killed Wakabi's father when stealing the Vibranium, thus why Wakabi is so quick to side with Killmonger when he shows up with a dead Klaue's body.)
Also, because you didn't remember the end of Civil War, with Bucky being frozen in Wakanda, Agent Ross, the U.S. government agent who was shot, then flew the planes at the end, was also in Civil War. He helped T'challa at the base where they initially captured Bucky, before Zemo said the words and made him go brainwashed assassin. He also talked to Zemo at the end, when he said that Zemo's plan failed, and Zemo replied, "Did it?"
I didn't realize that Klaue had killed W'kabi's father. Yeah, that definitely informs his motivation even more. Thanks.
Andy Serkis
Black Panther has to be in the top 10 greatest marvel movies of all time and one of the greatest superhero movies of all time
Not because it's about a black superhero but because the story telling is nearly flawless
Just a reminder before you dive into Infinity War about the mid-credits scene in Thor Ragnarok. As Thor, Loki, and company are heading back to Earth, they were intercepted by a very very large ship. You're about to find just who that ship belongs to ;)
Poor Stef, I left her in shock with this MCU masterpiece
I hope Infinity War doesn't break you as bad as it did everyone else ❤
Just a side note. Your new situation seems to agree with you, as you seem very relaxed and in a better mood. It's good to see and I'm happy for you.
She has one of the best radio videos ever
Get the tissues for next one!!!
I actually thought the majority of the Marvel villains were pretty one note but agree wholeheartedly that Killmonger is one of the more layered ones along with the likes of Loki and Thanos.
I also put Zemo in that list.
Appreciate you making this as long as possible ❤️
You never have to apologize for a Star Wars T-shirt, because it's the finest piece of clothing on earth. 🙂
You should put Fruitvale Station on your movie watch list.
Black Panther is one of my top two Marvel films (you haven't got to the other yet).

We previously saw Klaue in Age of Ultron.
Except for Klaue, who knew he was a bad person for selling weapons, and kind of crazy too, everyone in this film thought they were doing the right thing.
*Bilbo 😉
next one is INFINITY WAR
Bucky now is White Wolf
8:08
Yes, Lupita N’yongo is in US.
She plays two characters in it.
"Why's he do that?" W'Kabi was fed up with the choices his leadership was making & thought he finally had a leader who agreed with him about challenging the world order that he felt that had gone on too long & that they were hiding when they shouldn't have to.
You missed it
Bucky was in Wakanda as a favor to Captain America after Captain America Civil War and they helped Bucky but you will get more of that backstory in the Falcon and Winter Soldier series.
Remember the end credits of Captain America: Civil War Bucky opted to go on ice until his brainwashing could be taken care of. Black Panther offered to help him and Cap.
You seemed super happy in the beginning of this one! Hope youre loving the new apartment!
I'd like to add that I have been fond of your reactions, this one included. The sincerity is very welcoming and I appreciate it.
RIP Chadwick Boseman
I hope we get Infinity War in two parts so we can see more of Stef's reaction!
ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
I love LOVE your reactions!!! 😂 always makes everything better!!! 😁
Wow. Fair enough. Im black but im from the uk born in 2007 so maybe i shouldve known more about this but that makes the plot hit so much more
Zemo, Killmonger, and Thanos are my favorite MCU villains.
Killmonger is the only villain to change the hero’s world view. Because of Erik, T’challa went from isolationism to engaging with the world.
Yupp
I wasn't really sure what to expect before I watched BP, I didn't really know much about the character. But I very surprised, it was a great film.
Stef Solair you can see more of what happens with Bucky in Wakanda in Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
Word of advice when watching Infinity Wars:
Have a box of tissues. You're gonna need them. 😏
Loved your reaction.
Stef, I absolutely love watching your reaction to the Marvel Universe, always eager to watch the next, and with that been said, I absolutely CANNOT wait to see your Infinity War reaction, it’s going to be an incredible ride ❤️❤️❤️
Just thought I'd drop a quick hi, we love and appreciate you Steff. ❤
Hey Stef! Here. I love your reactions 😇☺🤩
Also there may be something that connects to the avengers. But you'll see. Like the post credit scene maybe. But just have to wait til the end.
I knew you’d love this next marvel movie!!!😁
I laughed when he roasted him about his dad before the fight
