    I'm a little impartial to the SS3, seeing as how I work there and have made several pods personally, the quality is there, the Performance is there, and they look very refined and uniform, compared to the 4 bangers very angular look, I will say I am impressed that they squeezed out the same performance out of 3 Osram diodes, makes me wonder how long those boards will last running hotter though

    • @HeadlightRevolution
      @HeadlightRevolution  2 года назад +1

      You assembled several pods personally? Neat!
      Personally, the SS3 looks like every other pod light out there, I have to squint at any 4 LED pod to even know who made it. If you see a set of 4Bangers they're immediately recognizable.
      The 4Bangers are being pushed harder but the passive cooling design is also much more efficient. The higher performance is also due to the optics, not just the diodes being pushed a bit more.
      Not to mention that LIFETIME warranty!

    • @yoshiishida6577
      @yoshiishida6577 2 года назад +3

      Junction to heatsink thermal resistance itself is lower on 4 Banger( lower thermal resistance=faster thermal stabilization). Video is using preproduction sample, it was for me to record thermal behavior curve log and had a wider range. Sample start-up is set 50W saturate at 34W but Production will be 48W start-up. Saturate at 36~37W under 25C for HXB. So it will be slightly brighter at saturation than video. SS3 max was logged 46W start-up and saturated at 33W in same 25C ambient If you would like to compare with SS3 sport fog, what you want to check is NCS( base model) wide beam 4Banger NCS yellow particularly has a very narrow selected yellow spectrum that has less spectrum scatter Looks yellow and actually yellow has a true difference in contrast penetration. And NCS model uses lower-powered efficient emitters, no active Junction temp feedback driver is needed, both SS3 sport and 4 Banger NCS to be low power unit, the thermal capacity is nearly identical.

    yea i am stuck between a rock and a hard place with this. Morimoto sells to Australia Diode Dynamics doesn't but they have a light bar and there ones are SAE meaning SAE fogs in most places if placed and aimed properly are coincided secondary low beams and can be used on the road. also the back light on DD's lights means they can act like clearance lights when off. what would really make me say " SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!" would be lights that with a flick of a switch go from white to amber i rater white for normal night driving and amber for adverse conditions. thats just my opinion or money if some one makes it real.

      It is designed to satisfy SAE basic F table. However, they are currently waiting on photometric analysis validation. Both the NCS and HXB are designed to be compliant just like the other brands that claim to be. Until we have an official report, we will not mention it as SAE compliant.

    Question: Will they dim if adequate airflow is provided or will they stay full illumination???

    • @yoshiishida6577
      @yoshiishida6577 2 года назад +7

      Full illumination may be a misleading term to use as full illumination can only happen in the blink of a moment. It will dim regardless, by a certain range. Any high-power LED drastically drops its initial illuminance as junction temperature ramps up. Then slowly ramp up towards full saturation. Even with maximum ideal airflow, the system will see an illumination drop. Generally, we design to retain above 85% of controlled data volume as a target. For HXB, it requires a minimum 3m/s frontal velocity to remain above 85% of initial illuminance at 25C. Without airflow, it will stabilize around 78% of initial illuminance under 25C ambient temp. Higher the ambient temp, lower the final saturation power balance. System work to prevent LED to reach critical junction points, therefore, if the system is run inside of the heated oven, for example, it further reduces output to protect the system. SS3 Max also has the same junction temp feedback drive logic to ramp down at high temp operation(85C) tests. Both SS3 max and HXB passed 100h run within less than 10% of degrading. For the NCS base model, no active ramp down generates far less heat. The only reduction will be on junction temp vs Vf drop, which is around 82% of initial illuminance at the fully saturated stage. Any questions, feel free to reply back!

      @@frederickstirtz6429 This is 3" or less system category, particularly fog/wide beam application. LP4 like reflector system can not be small to gain efficient overall collimation, parabolic reflector loses a great amount of direct ray being not focused by reflector surface in smaller application. One of the main reasons LP4 cannot retain the required upper gradient limit to act as a fog lamp. Both DD SS3s and 4 Banger series carry high sophistication in beam composure and high-density illuminance in targeted iso candela distribution. The reason for comparing to Squadron, is simply Squadron is a 3" category LED pod lamp for a fair comparison. Does that make sense? If this video is comparing 4 bangers against S1, then you can call that's an unfair comparison. The difference in optical design philosophy has nothing to do with what is better. All depend on the purpose.
