The standard Astros A50 ear cup material easily makes it the most comfortable headset I've ever worn. Not sure they need anything else but more options are alway welcome.

Amazing video! @The Techne I was hoping you could help me out maybe, I just wanted to ask is it normal for usb headsets to pick up the sound from desktop (E.g. in game sound/youtubes). My headset volume is completely turned down (from the volume wheel on the headset itself) but my PC is stil picking up sound.
So if my PC is on windows, but is completely down on my headset my friends still can hear what I'm doing, such as listening to youtube videos, etc. Have you ever heard of this issue before?

I just bought these with your affiliate link and although I love the comfort, one thing it has compromised is the sound. The bass is louder for sure, but the mids and highs sound distant and almost tinny. I’ll definitely buy them for another headset, but my Astro A50s sound better with the stock ear pads. Keep up the great content and thank you for showing these to us! 👍🙏
So the mod kit from astro is better than the wicked cushions?
@@1037g8ming I would say yes since the mod kit is all leather. Won’t keep you cool like the wicked cushions but it will sound more bassy and will keep some sound in, super comfortable though

Hey so I'm using the a40tr headset and I bought the official mod kit. I keep going back to the stock pads though cause the mod kit cups are noticeably smaller and my ears touch and become uncomfortable after a while. Are wicked cushions the exact same size as stock? I want it to go all the way around my whole ear like the factor muffs do.

FINALLY! My A40 cushions have deteriorated like a year ago and I searched forever and couldn't find replacements for my white headset. All Astro offers is black.
Is there now a refresh version of these? My a50 had a diffrent looking box
I'd like to see a refresh for these with a similar style to the a10-20 gen 2's and a30's
I just received mine in the mail today. They are comfortable but I think the A50 upgrade kit pads seal better around the ear.
Did you ever use Astro's leather pads? If so, how do these compare?

Hey Techne, if you read this please do respond! Im having such a hard time debating whether I should or shouldnt.
At the moment I'm looking at getting a new Console headset. I currently own a pair of last gen Arctis Pro Wireless that I use for my PC, and have also been eyeing up the Arctis Nova Pro X Wireless to upgrade to. I'm currently considering whether to buy the Arctis Nova 7X as a headset for both Xbox and PS, or to buy the Arctis Nova Pro X Wireless to replace my PC headset and use my last gen Arctis Pro Wireless as my new Console headset. My question is which option would you consider more value, a brand new set for my Console, or Upgrade my PC and use the old pair for my console that I can keep permanently on the Console cabinet.
I wish Astro would give us something new with the A40tr, i miss using mine, haven't used them since the PS4 and these PS5 headsets just aren't on the same level

I am currently using the A40 TR with the PU Leather mod kit cushions and close back headphone caps. I much prefer the sound of closed back headsets with the leather locking in any noise bleed. With the right EQ tuning, this works perfect for me, and I cannot stray away from these headsets. In fact, purchased the Nova Pro wired last night and I will be returning them. They just do not feel the same quality for hardware or sound for the price.
However, here is my question: How do the Wicked Cushions compare to Astro's PU Leather cushions as far as comfort and sound capturing?

Interested to see how these would stack up against the official mod kit, I run the official mod kit on the a40 TR and live in the UK so paying nearly double for shipping would have to mean these are significantly better than astros own mod kit cushions

Love the vids. I'm having trouble finding extra thick cushions for the steelseries artic nova 7x. I have found a few like wicked cushions but same size as stock. I need extra thick cushions similar to beats audio size but for nova 7x. Any help?
Theyre listed on Amazon but not yet available. I pre ordered some for the Nova Pro wireless directly from the WC site though. Check there.
@@krayzdfg1507 thanks, but nova pro and nova 7x have different cushion types. I wish I could but will not work. I wish the Nova pro cushions worked. Because they have a much thicker cushions from wicked cushions.

Ayo Techne, can you do us a favor and please convince Astro to make a white colorway for the A50? I want a pair of them so bad for my PS5, but want white to match the console lol.
wicked cushions should make a custom headband for the A40 gen4. Mine always feels so uncomfortable. The official mod kit and amazon generic replacements don't make it any better.
I hope for one to be created for the Steelseries Arctic nova pros 😊

Does anyone have a viable solution for the headband? Replacing the ear cushions only solves part of the problem. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Both tried A50X original cushions and wicked cushions... Only good thing about the wicked ones is the noise cancellation. It is not comfortable (really painful after a full day use), the fabric is not soft and causes rash. The original cushions are very much more comfortable and soft, and better designed for the sound overall...

I personally have never had an issue with the Astro ear cushions after using Astro products for 10+ years. However the head band/cushion has always been a bother after longer gaming sessions for me

same here bro. My a40 gen4 is so expensive with the mixamp but the headband cushion is so small. Someone should make a custom replacement with thicker+broader cushion, memory foam and breathable fabric.
My headband either gets hot or has some weird pressure point that presses into my head.
I’ve been scouring the internet for answers. I have the Astro a40 tr gen 3. Do these cushions work with them? On the company’s website it says they are only compatible with the gen 4 Astro a40. Any Info would be a great help! Thanks!
Correct, the magnetic polarity is opposite on them.

I have 2 sets of wicked cushions and they are great but the cooling affect only lasts about 10 minutes max for me then pretty spicy just sayin

Hey Techne, I want to bring to your attention a newly released headset you may not have tried yet. I'm talking about the new PDP Airlite Pro Wireless. I bought the PS5 version(white), and I got to say, for only $84.99 I am amazingly impressed at the audio quality and comfort for a budget pair. You may want to give them a go and review them. It doesn't look like you've reviewed a PDP headset before. I actually favored these over the Astro A30's for simplicity and cost to value. Just a thought.

A40 good a50 crap because of the shitty connection quality. I had the mod kit with my a50 and though they were comfortable they also got way too hot so I was always swapping back to my the stock pads. I'm sure these are better than astro pads but I can't recommend people to ever buy the a50s until they come out with a new version thought many of the issues they have are on the older generations of the a50s as well and will likely carry over the the new ones.
