Awesome review, I need a headset that switches between consoles flawlessly, and the fact that it switches your HDMI input for you with a switch of a button is icing on top, thank you for the detailed review!
when i first bought my a50s in 2021 the top piece fell right out and it kept happening, sent an email to astro and they sent a whole new headset for free since i was under warranty. now the ones i have still work great and i got the other ones as back up@@Turtle-.-
Finally! I've been waiting for your video on this headset. I'm about to pull the trigger on the monitor you have. I always use your reviews before purchasing anything. Thanks for helping my wallet man
Definitely picking up a set of these. Really dope that it essentially gives you an additional HDMI 2.1 port, albeit 40Gbps as opposed to 48Gbps but still very nice. It gets annoying having to switch between headsets for my PS5 and PC. Gonna use this for the switch as well.
I double checked to see if he misspoke on the HDMI bandwidth and they are 40 Gbps per the Logitech website instead of the full 48 Gbps. However, that shouldn't impact gaming on PS5/Xbox Series.
You do realise that 48GBPS is required for 8K60/HDR/Dolby Vision? No console is hitting 8K and if it did it would be dynamically! Not to mention that 48GBPS is also only niche and needed for 12-BIT colour range at 4K60/120… no TV at any consumer level goes above 10-BIT.. for full DV coverage or 8K60 is what you’d need a 48GBPS lane for! Until then? It’s just numbers that make you feel superior when in fact no one right now needs 48GBPS! P.S I have a 48GBPS OLED C3 and also a C1, both my series X and V run on the C1 and the C3 EXACTLY the same! Not a single pixel changes proving that 48GBPS IS NOT NEEDED!.
The PS5 only uses 32Gbps anyway of the full 48Gbps bandwidth of HDMI 2.1 it won’t make a difference on console gaming and I’m sure that’s why they just use USB for PC because it would be much worse to limit a graphics card like that in the hardware.
I really like the base station switching capability. But the hot swappable batteries in my nova pro wireless is a feature I’m not willing to lose. Would definitely sacrifice a bit our sound quality for that.
I also have the nova pros too and i have never ever needed to swap the battery which was one of the main reasons i bought them. O well sick headset tho
@SpawnPoiint how do they compare to the nova pro wireless in terms of sound quality mate? I'm just interested in getting the best sound quality possible for gaming. Would be awesome if you could do a video comparing headsets in terms of sound quality. Thanks for the awesome content bro

In the video he mentions that you can game and listen to your phone audio at the same time. This has been a major issue for me as i use PS app to talk to my friends and game on my PC. I have to rely on a 3rd party bluetooth connection that doesnt always work. This will be a nice upgrade.
This is a huge selling point for me when buying a headset. Sad that this isn't something that's prioritized in most new gaming headsets. There's no aux port on the base station so I assume the only way for simultaneous audio would be to connect through bluetooth. I've tried this with a different headset and it killed the battery pretty fast with bluetooth on so I dont think id go this route personally.
Can anyone confirm this? I cant find anything about that and its litterally the point thats gonna decide if im gonna buy them. Would love if someone could help me out here ❤️
Very good headset but I'm upset that they've got rid of the AUX port as it was a good way to connect with other audio interfaces. I'm sure it'll still be possible to connect to them through the use of some adapters. Looks like a good headset overall though! Thanks for reviewing these!
Picked these up and they’re phenomenal. My biggest critique is that they don’t include all the cables you need if you are setting it up on multiple consoles.
I had no idea that Astro released a new headset until I saw this video! Also glad you covered the Bluetooth connection as that’s a must for me as I like to listen/watch RUclips videos, scroll Twitter when playing more casually and also helps when gaming with friends who don’t have headsets so have to call to communicate.
Super disappointed with my TWO sets of A50s too. Base station was crap, charging was crap, the software was crap. The sound was amazing WHEN YOU COULD ACTUALLY GET THE HEADSET TO WORK. Flaws that shouldn't exist in a gaming headset at the premium price range. Unacceptable.

Nice gaming headset. I got mine earlier this week and the only thing that is keeping them from being perfect is the PC USB port not being able to be used on Switch. I'm a console only gamer, and being able to switch between PS5, XSX, and Switch would've been the ultimate headset.

yea but the garantee of logitech has been always top noch, i had problems with the gen 4 before and they changed them for a brand new ones without any cost
They’re worth it. I bought these the moment I could and had zero issues except the side tone turning itself off, which just opening the app and sliding it up or down a little seemed to fix
Thank you for this video and also can you compire between (( A50X - Steelseries Nova pro wireless)) And i wana ask you where can i buy the same table you have i love it ❤️👍🏻
I was curious about the astro a50x, i currently have the Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro headset. Which are amazing,! But honestly watching this now make me what these instead. Great video 😁
@SpawnPoiint Did you notice any type of Input Lag or Delay while using 2 Separate HDMI 2.1 cables on 1 Console cause i remember there being some issues with that with the HDMI Adapter that you talked about in this video so im interested to know if there was any Input Lag or Delay especially while playing Competitive online games like Call Of Duty?
I'm thinking of getting these headsets for my pc,Xbox Series and Ps5.I'll give these headset a chance.Never hurts to take a risk.I'm shocked on the battery life for 24hours instead of 16 hours.Thank you SpawnPoiint for demostrating theese headsets.I had the Gen 4 model which i had for almost 6-7 years.I'm ready to upgrade to the new model Astro A50 X in Black.
Nice headset! This all being said. I think I’m sticking with the Nova Pros. The fact I can change my eq from the deck, the battery swap so I never have to charge my headset, and the transparency mode are too nice. I also prefer leather ear cups. Both are amazing just matter of preference!
They're "good"? They are one of the best headphones for gaming, if not the best. Have them since April, and i bought them after 3+ years with A50 gen4. Day and night my friend. Search online and have the best of the Maxwell's. Despite the fact i'm a fan of Astro's, the sound quality from Audeze is superior. Anyway, wait for @GadgetryTech review, he's the best and objective, that's why he doesn't have the new astro's yet, because logitech is afraid of his review, and ofc as a company, they want max sells for their product. Bye
@@cfbones I have. I've increased the bass so much I have to use the volume limiter, which is fine. Yes, absolutely- I agree when they're on they're on and sound 🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾. But I use my old wired Beats Studio and they're STILL monsters after all these years in terms of bass and loudness. The Bose, air pod max, Sony wm5's or whatever, and wireless beats can't touch the maxwells or those old school beats. Not a single headphone under $500 comes close to them loudness and bass wise, but they don't sound anywhere near as good as the Maxwell's. I just wanted something with more punch. I've got the Sony Z1R's, but I've gotta get a better amp and I usually just use those to chill out to Lodi and dubstep. What's crazy is I have the air pod max and air pod pros. Every time I put those air pod pros(the ones right before the volume adjuster came out) and those air pod pros IMPRESS every time coming off any of those headphones sets IMO. I was interested in these a50's if they were actually that bass-y and loud for a wireless headset. Plus I just collect
I actually ordered these yesterday and was thinking that I might have made a mistake as I was replacing my near 4 year old Sony Pulse 3Ds and was looking for a minor step up. After watching your video I can definitely see I made a good decision!
Can someone jusf clarify if the sound is just through HDMI with this? Im used to having astros with the optical cable for sound. My monitor only has one hdmi port so is this gonna work?
I was looking at the gen 5 but don’t think they would work on ps5 for game/chat mixing could be wrong I’m still trying to figure it out lol. I’m using gen 4 with ps5 and that switch for optical to hdmi thing lol
Have you tried the Audeze Maxwell? Expensive but just towers above everything else. 80 hrs battery life. And besides gaming I use it A LOT listening to music. It’s literally a high end premium headset.
stop it... built quality is below average, 3 audeze products, 3 same problems with crinkling foil sound in one earcup after using them 2-3 months when moving them. These products are too over-advertised by youtubers
I ran my A50s with the PS5 adapter, like you, I changed them because of pass through limitations and because I didn’t like the need for the base station. I was hoping this iteration wouldn’t have that, especially with today’s minimal aesthetics vibe. I do want a new headset though, the pulse 3ds leave some thing’s to be desired and they’re aren’t comfortable during longer sessions. May try a pair of Steele series out…at least I can put the Nova Pros base station out or sight and requires less space
Cool headset and I’m sure they are probably the best out there right now but $380 that’s legit more than a Xbox series x at the moment lol , and $100 away from, a steam deck oled I can’t justify that price for a headset at least for myself. But definitely a good pick up for those who need a long term replacement
Well that's the word we live in today every thing is too expensive but I ordered mine they supposed to any day but if you want the best you have to pay but these headphones should be All you need for many many years because you can tweak the sound on your phone app happy holidays stay safe and happy gaming to all
I've been using the turtle beach stealth pro... and this headset just feels so premium, it does carry abit more weight than others... but, that just makes it feel more premium. I just got the steel series nova pro aswell and that headset just feels so much more cheaper than the the stealth pros... felt like I could break it if I set down too hard by accident... stealth pro also has an app that is so easy to use compared to the nova pro... and the stealth pro also has noise gate, active noise cancellation... whereas the nova pros do not. Turtle beach stealth pros also got a really good feel for the leather ear cups whilst the nova pros feel like a cheap pleather. Stealth pros is the only comparison to the A50 X
Love ❤️ your channel! The footage referencing Gen 4 are actually Gen 3!?? Gen 3 & 4 work on PS5. Either get HDMI adapter or even easier connect optical cord directly to your TV. As long as your TV has an optical port you are good 👍 to go!!
Unfortunately the HDMI adapter isn’t HDMI 2.1 (so restricts the 4K 120hz my tv/monitor need). And as my monitor doesn’t have optical that won’t work either (and on my TV I use my AVR for sound, so it wouldn’t work on there either.
You put me onto the Steel Series ps5 headset and I’ve been so happy with those but now it might be time to upgrade 😂 these is a real nice gaming headset, now I just gotta justify the jump haha
Awesome review man and I like your color taste all black damn that’s cool i need to buy it and imagine having a black out headset that will be awesome.
I have been using Nova Pro as well after buying PS5 and found out there is no Astro headset for the PS5 at that moment. Because back on PS4, I was using Astro A50 as well and really enjoy using it. Can't wait for the release and will buy it for sure. Thanks for the review
Fantastic video Chris! If you dont mind? can you please share your audio settings from Modern Warfare 3 with what EQ you use on the headset? Thanks for the vid.
I figure these are better since you don't have to use Atmos to emulate Surround sound anymore. Since its HDMI Passthrough for Audio it's almost like using the optical cable on the old school Astro's your actually getting Dolby 7.1 if you choose.
Okay i finally bought a pair for my PS5. Holy cables it takes 4 just to connect to the PS5 as i followed Astros setup video on YT. For someone with such a clean setup Spawnpoint you must have had to do some serious cable management. I know that i spent a good hour rearranging my desk and tidying everything up
I've always used Turtle Beach with my PlayStation's my current 700 max have 40 hours battery life and are super comfortable you sound quality is great I really can't complain about them
Do you recommend these over the Logitech - PRO X 2? I only play on PS5 so I’m wondering which would one be best or any other recommendation mainly for PS5?
I never want to miss the hot swappable batteries on the arctis nova pro wireless ever again. Madly disappointed that these headphones don't have that. i don't want to be stuck on a cable wearing them.
Hi, what configuration you use for PlayStation 5? HDMI or USB connection? The both have good and bad moments. HDMI give you 24 bit sound, but you can’t setup 3D sound correctly. Also in this case you need put the Dualsense sound off by your hands. But you can game/chat control only in that method. USB give you only 16 bit sound, but most games only have that bit depth. But you have personalized 3D audio settings like in all other headphones. I hear that Pulse elite have only 16 bit sound too. What your opinion?
These look awesome! I’m wondering if the base station would cause any issues with my setup. I just picked up the new Phillips Hue sync box and I have all my devices connected to it. Do you know if I would lose any quality or functionality by going HDMI out of my PS5, into the base station, out of the base station into my sync box and then out to the TV? Seems like a lot lol
8:31 Are these windows settings? I'm so confused how Dolby works with these headphones. I've seen another RUclipsr in DolbyAccess turning it on. And now I you in the Windows settings. The last generation advertised Dolby Atmos right on the Logitech Site, and Dolby themselves have it as a featured product in the gaming headphones area of their website. But with the A50 X's it's not as clear if Dolby is supported. I'm just kind of lost on Dolby and how it integrates with these.
I don’t know about this design. The main issue with the Astro A50 gen 4 was the head piece which breaks after 6 months and the top piece look like the same design as before. I’m good with my steel series.
I’ve had my gen 4 since released and I’ve never had the headpiece break. Only problem I’ve had with my a50 is when the base stoped working earlier this year after having it for almost 6 years. I bought a replacement so I could keep using them but now that they have released the Gen5 I’m definitely gonna upgrade.
About a year or two ago I found a Astro Mixamp Prototype online for Xbox that had HDMI input/output for modern Xbox Series X, USB-C and Lan Cable support for daisy chaining the Mixamps together but have yet to see anything drop from Astro??? I wonder what is the hold up after all this time???
@spawnpoiint. I have a monitor that i connect my MacBook/pc to and also my ps5. But I also have a Govee hdmi 2.2 gaming sync box which I run the pc&ps5 cables to and then it has one output to the monitor. Like these headphones it acts as like a hdmi switch. I’m just trying to see if I would be able to get these Astro A50s to work. But due to the Govee sync box it only has 1 output and may confuses the headsets base if I switch it from there. Can you help at all. Much appreciated
Quick question but I’ve seen numerous complaints regarding the A50X not working properly with some displays. I know certain LG panels are having issues and I know you use the LG 27” OLED so did you not have any issues? Or are you using a different setup?
hi, great video. Here is the summary of the question: I would like to order the Astro A50 X in white version for use on PS5 only. I would like to use this model without the HDMI relay because I want to avoid any form of latency. Is it possible to operate by usb without HDMI? If so, what are the changes to cable and HDMI usage? Is it only the mixed cat?

They’re worth it. I bought these the moment I could and had zero issues except the side tone turning itself off, which just opening the app and sliding it up or down a little seemed to fix
Thank you for this video and also can you compire between (( A50X - Steelseries Nova pro wireless))
And i wana ask you where can i buy the same table you have i love it ❤️👍🏻
I was curious about the astro a50x, i currently have the Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro headset. Which are amazing,! But honestly watching this now make me what these instead. Great video 😁
I haven’t watched the video yet but I know it’s gonna be great
Thanks dude!
@@SpawnPoiint you’re very welcome
Now all we need is a comparison with the Audeze Maxwells. Please
We definitely need a comparison video soon!
Never give your opinion again please 😁😁
@@blinkermayor1410 WHOOOAAAA, imagine trying to hate on a GAMING HEADSET video🫥
You tried both?
Very clean setup man salute 🫡💯
I just got the Maxwell Audezes. They're good, but I prefer that LOUD and Heavy Bass. I'm most likely gonna grab these.
Just change the EQ on your Maxwells, in terms of sound quality, the A50x don't come remotely close.
Yea it looks like 1 hdmi to tv/ monitor 1 hdmi to ps5 and usb c to ps5
I was looking at the gen 5 but don’t think they would work on ps5 for game/chat mixing could be wrong I’m still trying to figure it out lol. I’m using gen 4 with ps5 and that switch for optical to hdmi thing lol
Nice gaming headset, ima cop that for Christmas
Thanks for uploading this! Was considering this headset but now I’m definitely buying!
Been using my a50s for 5 years now 😮, going to upgrade to these
Have you tried the Audeze Maxwell? Expensive but just towers above everything else. 80 hrs battery life. And besides gaming I use it A LOT listening to music. It’s literally a high end premium headset.
stop it... built quality is below average, 3 audeze products, 3 same problems with crinkling foil sound in one earcup after using them 2-3 months when moving them. These products are too over-advertised by youtubers
@@BlueKrait5Skill issue.
How do these stack up to the audeze Maxwell's in terms of sound quality, comfort and overall experience ?
I ran my A50s with the PS5 adapter, like you, I changed them because of pass through limitations and because I didn’t like the need for the base station. I was hoping this iteration wouldn’t have that, especially with today’s minimal aesthetics vibe. I do want a new headset though, the pulse 3ds leave some thing’s to be desired and they’re aren’t comfortable during longer sessions. May try a pair of Steele series out…at least I can put the Nova Pros base station out or sight and requires less space
Steelseries 7P+ are very good, I’ve tried all the ones you mentioned and hated them all finally settled on the ss7P+ and love them
My stealth pros are amazing
@@SpudMonkey815 I haven’t decided which pair yet, so I’ll def throw those in to compare
@@MrDfromjersey turtle beach? Never had a pair of those, going to check them out too.
@@MrDfromjersey I wasn’t a fan of the stealths, but I only tried the first gen 600’s so the others might have been much better
Finally ! 🙌🏻 nice review as alwaysss
Thanks mate.
Damn.. I’ve been dropping so much coin on gaming this year and I don’t think I can say no to new astros. $500cdn though
What you think best headset is for multiple room setups?
Cool headset and I’m sure they are probably the best out there right now but $380 that’s legit more than a Xbox series x at the moment lol , and $100 away from, a steam deck oled I can’t justify that price for a headset at least for myself. But definitely a good pick up for those who need a long term replacement
Well that's the word we live in today every thing is too expensive but I ordered mine they supposed to any day but if you want the best you have to pay but these headphones should be All you need for many many years because you can tweak the sound on your phone app happy holidays stay safe and happy gaming to all
I absolutely love the ASTRO'S ever s8nce they have come out. It has always been worth every penny. Beautifully done video man. Stay awesome!
And to be honest the mic sounds very good it sounds like AirPods almost
You put me onto the Steel Series ps5 headset and I’ve been so happy with those but now it might be time to upgrade 😂 these is a real nice gaming headset, now I just gotta justify the jump haha
I loved my Astro A50's on PS4. So glad Astro made a new headset for PS5.
Good video!. I've been out of touch. Just seeing them now. I'll have to check the out!
Thank you bro. U and mrwhostheboss are the BEST tech channels to exist
These look great, one point you mentioned is 120hz pass through - is there anyway to push them to 240hz for PC FPS games on a gaming monitor?
How do you like that Herman Miller gaming Embody? Was thinking about pulling the trigger
Best chair I’ve got. Really comfy.
You just sold me on buying a pair whenever they’re back in stock!
Awesome review man and I like your color taste all black damn that’s cool i need to buy it and imagine having a black out headset that will be awesome.
My normal Astro a50 turn on but don’t work or have sound when connected so idk if I’ll buy this
Might have to pick these up 🤔 working across everything is kind of a must now
I have been using Nova Pro as well after buying PS5 and found out there is no Astro headset for the PS5 at that moment.
Because back on PS4, I was using Astro A50 as well and really enjoy using it. Can't wait for the release and will buy it for sure.
Thanks for the review
Huh. Telling my wife I want this on Christmas Eve. Nothing like last minute lol
Serious question, do you need to have the base station with you in order to have/use Bluetooth?
Nice gaming headset
Yes you do, the base station is the 'brains' of it all, so everything connects to that, then passes onto the headset.
@@SpawnPoiint so sad :(
What’s your eq settings for Astro headset ?? Warezone !!
I've been using the A50 for a while now and i can't wait to put my hands on the A50x...
Fantastic video Chris! If you dont mind? can you please share your audio settings from Modern Warfare 3 with what EQ you use on the headset? Thanks for the vid.
Did you get the chat/ game buttons to work on the ps5??
Isnt working for us...
Great review. Am I correct in thinking the HDMI passthrough would allow Elgato capture device to record audio that way? Headset looks perfect for me.
Did you ever find out? I know the previous a50 could with the hdmi adapter for the ps5.
@@ElonzoGames Never found out unfortunately
0:05 Astro is really good! 🙌🎮
Prolly the most stylish and beautiful looking headset
Thanks for this clear and good video review. I might pick it up. 👍
I like the fact you can charge it while it’s in the dock. That’s my main issue is remembering to charge my Turtle Beach Stealth’s
HYPERX CLOUD 3 wireless or Astro a50 I really need u help ?
I figure these are better since you don't have to use Atmos to emulate Surround sound anymore. Since its HDMI Passthrough for Audio it's almost like using the optical cable on the old school Astro's your actually getting Dolby 7.1 if you choose.
Could you just plug the power cable and the usb c from ps5 and connect the hdmi from ps5 to tv directly? Or does the base station NEED the hdmi?
Okay i finally bought a pair for my PS5. Holy cables it takes 4 just to connect to the PS5 as i followed Astros setup video on YT. For someone with such a clean setup Spawnpoint you must have had to do some serious cable management. I know that i spent a good hour rearranging my desk and tidying everything up
haha yes it does take some time to sort it out. Imagine using it with an Xbox, PS5 and PC, cables everywhere 😂
Can you use these on your Xbox and listen to music on ur pc at the same time?
I've always used Turtle Beach with my PlayStation's my current 700 max have 40 hours battery life and are super comfortable you sound quality is great I really can't complain about them
I didn't know these existed. I need those features and I am totally buying them I think.
What your opinion?
nice gaming headset, i was hoping you to review them i will definitely buy them
Mine come in this upcoming Tuesday, can’t wait
I’m good with my steel series.
the design is identical to the gen4s. idk why he didnt mention that
I’ve had my gen 4 since released and I’ve never had the headpiece break. Only problem I’ve had with my a50 is when the base stoped working earlier this year after having it for almost 6 years. I bought a replacement so I could keep using them but now that they have released the Gen5 I’m definitely gonna upgrade.
The past Astro headsets I've owned have horrible paint quality that comes off really easily is that still a problem with these ones?
Yes it is unfortunately
About a year or two ago I found a Astro Mixamp Prototype online for Xbox that had HDMI input/output for modern Xbox Series X, USB-C and Lan Cable support for daisy chaining the Mixamps together but have yet to see anything drop from Astro??? I wonder what is the hold up after all this time???
Do you think these would be good for movie watching i.e. Apple TV connected to this to provided surround sound?
Nova Pro wireless. These are pretty darn fantastic. Also what monitor are you using? Nice colors.
definitely buying this next year for my pc/ps5 setup
I use The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX and works with PS5, Xbox Series and PC, and works perfectly for me.
Oooooohhhhh nice headset...... and now its a must have 🎉. Loved my a40s ps4 they just didn't transfer to the ps5 very well
@spawnpoiint.
- Does the game/chat mix work on ps5?
- When the headset is in the dock or off, does the ps5 switch the output to speakers automatically?
Quick question but I’ve seen numerous complaints regarding the A50X not working properly with some displays. I know certain LG panels are having issues and I know you use the LG 27” OLED so did you not have any issues? Or are you using a different setup?
hi, great video. Here is the summary of the question: I would like to order the Astro A50 X in white version for use on PS5 only. I would like to use this model without the HDMI relay because I want to avoid any form of latency. Is it possible to operate by usb without HDMI? If so, what are the changes to cable and HDMI usage? Is it only the mixed cat?
