otimo projeto parabens a minha eu fiz algumas alterações no lugar do tip 3055 usei o tip41 e no lugar do bd 139 usei o d13007 npn e o capacitor de 680 uf 200v meu transformador é de 42 v e 10 A fiz com um de microondas tirei o secundario e coloquei um fio de 1.5 de 7 metros ,ficou top abraço.

What about transistor heating when used for constant variable heater load

Nice well working build, especially the current limiter. But it is old shunting technology that is burning a lot of energy especially on high load and long duration of time. If higher power (voltage / amps) is needed then switching psu is recommended. Like the rebuild of computer power that is seen here... For anodicing or plating a simple transformer - rectifier bridge assembly could probably do well. (Old Car battery charger or even just the battery.)?

For anyone wondering: this project is NOT fake and the circuit actually works kind of Well HOWEVER its preformance is not as good as on the video. The circuit built in the video cant do above 10 amps wich is much less than advertised But otherwise its an alright project.

One question: I saw in other projects the use of a "shunt" to measure amps.

The LM317, which is the regulator here, is only specified for up 37V. With 40V it is used outside its specification.

Antes que nada un saludo de México muy buen video y exelente proyecto yo ya lo hice con una fuente de 37 volts y este proyecto el único inconveniente es que al bajar voltaje solo baja a 8.6 y sube a 35 voltaje menos de 8 no baja como se puede hacer para que baje a 0 espero me responda gracias y saludos exelente video
You use multiple potentiometer 10k for smoothly work
caso resuelto amigo le puse un diodo xener en la entrada de 30 volts el potenciometro a 20 la resistencia que va en el trancistor lm lo cambie por una de 1k y agrege un diodo inverso a la salida de negativo a positivo y el filtro funciono exelente la caida de voltaje es minima gracias por tu aporte esta genial

There is no stabilisation nor a feedback circuit! The voltage will drop under load and will be high ripple also! This is a very simple circuit, maybe suffiecient to charge lead acid batteries, but not suitable for sensitive electronics!
