Going back in time to analyze why NBA Live 05 remains such a beloved game. Игры
Another big reason is the nostalgia of that NBA legend generation:
*Kobe, T-Mac, Shaq, Vince Carter, A.I., Garnett, Duncan, Wade, Amare, Nash* were all pretty much still at their prime in 2004 (when NBA Live 2005 came out).
NBA Live 2005 was not only a great game, the NBA itself was amazing as well at that time!
You know what that makes a lot of sense. Live 05 perfectly mirrored how great the NBA was at the time. Legends like Kobe, Shaq, Dirk, Yao, Vince Carter, TMac, Garnett, AI etc. were in their primes and young stars like LeBron, D wade, Bosh, D Howard, Melo etc. were on the rise. The dunk contest was the icing on the cake.
Steve Nash was my favorite player back then, I use to always love to play with him and Amare
Monk Man his jumper was wet as water.
@@SharksPro123 right his 3 was money
Then came that 2006 NBA season where everyone had monster offensive numbers because of the handchecking rules being tweaked again. Everybody was getting buckets, it was a cool time
This game still remains as the best dunk contest game ever.
Hell yeah!
That right there says it all
Facts
Double between the legs dunk ftw
The days and hours me, my brother, and cousin Johnny would put into the dunk contest. That shit was lit!
2005 was a great year for gaming In general
Game came out in 2004
@@MIGGYME1 2004 was good for gaming too
That dunk contest was the shit tho! Double between the legs and the 720 lol which Air Up There actually did in real life.....
Throw it off the titantron too shit was fye as hell
That game was the shit i was on my Jr. Year in high skool in 2005 I had that game personally of course NBA live was running shit bck then now 2k on top of they shit pal.
Boy those city street games were liiiiiit
Don't take it so serious it was bad in real life but way better in the video game
Loved it my last year playin any video game
NBA live 03 got the greatest opening intro in live history far as visuals and theme song shoutout fabolous 💯
it also had BLAO
I hate that I remember it so well it's nostalgic. Getting old! Ugh
Fabolous bodied that intro....best soundtrack of all time. We used to hit the park, open up the Tahoe by the court, blast this top to bottom while the grill was popping. You cant recreate the year 2003. My favorite non 90s year ever. Exactly half my life ago. 15 years fly by so fast. 15 was the life.
I still think Live 03 has the best soundtrack. It's brings back so much nostalgia for me. Live 05 soundtrack was very good too though.
@@kang6914
05 is a close 2nd......04' had some gems too.
The crossovers advanced in '05 and the no look passes were new features. The Dunk Contest was one of the main reasons also. I remember when it released like it was yesterday.
04 and 05 are just FIREEEEEE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Carter bby
animegenius PROD. Nostalgia
04 trash
I had this on my PS2 and literally played the dunk contest a thousand times with my old gf, my nephews/nieces, little bro and other friends. Man, I miss Live '05. The tumbling dunk sequence remains my favorite.
I was in the 8th Grade when this game game out. It was the last NBA Live game that I ever bought with my own money. Truly a classic. NBA Live 2005 and NBA 2K11 are the best basketball games ever created.
8th grade here too. Great game to grow up with
BigBad Bryant fuck you!!
Bro this game is dopeeee fr and I’m 19. Played it growing up with my big cousin and also NBA 2k11 is my favorite 2k
To be honest I think Live 2003 had the fire soundtrack tho, it was so tough it came with a separate CD just for the music, and I still own it lol
Fab KILLED tha intro...that soundtrack was too poppin. In a time when Rap + R&B was SMOOV
Damm
@@kwajotube Faaacts bro, that intro song was sick as hell without a doubt.

Agreed. Strongly agreed.
of course
First and last live i played on xbox

@@kaiupnxt why did you censor yourself?
Live 04 gameplay was much more fun but Live 05 gets the edge simply cause of Allstar weekend
It’s funny how MVP 05 is the best baseballl game, and Madden 05 (Ray Lewis cover 🔥) is the best Madden as well
Celestial Eatos 2k5 was the good that year too
Idk about that. Madden 04 was fire and so was Madden 03 with Faulk on the cover. Personally I liked 09/10 too. I stopped playing after that. Vince Young on 08 wasn’t that bad either, that’s when they brought precision passing and qb escaping. Madden 07 was decent also with Shaun Alexander and the intro to truck stick
and nfl 2k5 is the greatest football game of all time
Facts EAs prime
I remember all the og covers George, Dante, Marshall👑, Vick👑👑, Ray 👑👑, McNabb👑, Shawn, Young, Farve👑 and Larry Legend👑 Madden kinda lost it after they went to 360/pS3. I can do this with live too I remember these games were staples in our gaming library
My only complaint at the time was the stingy ratings on lower rated players.. like if I remember right either nanad kristic or jason Collins was like a 43 overall..
NBA Live 2005 is the goat. Defense on there was insane. It was a challenge to score. Plus this game made 2K step up.
Don't forget the handles in 05 was also crazy and lit.
I've played 05 back n the gap. N u rite. N i got 06. N the d on there just as hard as 05.
@@easymoneycroomy Facts. So realistic too.
@@keithbell344 Yup. Dynasty mode was so in depth too. Such a fluid gameplay.
Love 05 was the first basketball game I’ve ever played
Man with The plan faxx
04.. 05... And 06 was my favorite NBA live games
06 was good but the Signature skills were too OP. I can easily score 100 with Ginobili back then. 07 was a bit better, but 08 was just bad for me personally.
No love for 03??
04 trash
2004 was best.
Young Bossman601 03 was better then 04 and 06
Live 2005 was the finished product of what EA Sports began with Live 2003. Live 2003 brought to us the control stick handle controls, but it made offense a bit too easy. Live 2004 was a step in trying to balance that, but it was't until Live 2005 where it was perfected. Live 2006 made great players too good.
NBA Live 04 with Vince on the cover will always be my favorite. I liked the all star weekend mode but I was mostly playing 2k5 instead of live 05
Tashon Little is that the one with the superstar moves?
Man when Ive learned the Off ball! My friends cant stop me from it, cant beat me and they cant do it. Off ball Alley oop! Billups to Melo, the spin on low post then alley oop! oh man! Everyone at the back is yelling!
Did you know you do an alleyoop to yourself
The real amazing thing about the live game is when they have the 90s all star team
This intro and the 2001 intro was so entertaining
Nba live 03 will always be my favorite. 05 and 06 were lit too 👌🏾
The all star weekend was creative asf
Hang Time is the GOAT. And NBA Street is the GOAT ON PS2
2k always lacked a good or even an atleast decent All-Star Weekend. Live 05 All-Star weekend made it actually feel like All-Star Weekend with the lights and the crowd...and not to mention live 05 actually has judges for the dunk contest if 2k could do that and throw some random celebrities in the front rows(Drake, Kevin Heat, OBJ, Ludachris ect.) It would be dope af.
One of the best basketball games of all time.
i still remember today when i made that double between the legs in the dunk contest back then, i stood up and started jumping around my room lol. RIP Live 05.
Good vid DOM I can remember playing the ps2 loading up nba live 05 with the squares in the back ground
I remember playing the hell out of this game my 7th grade year boy boy boy this is a classic!
The all-star weekend was so lit 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Facts fam
Kinda was out of the NBA stuff for a while. Came back after I heard Portland, my team, was contendinng for conference this year and you’re the one NBA games guy I stuck with. Vids are great, keep them up
Live 06' & 07' we're the true game changers
Graphics still hold up. 2006 DWade live on the XBOX360 was awesome too
The dunk contest had me lit and i liked the fantasy draft lol o6 was cheese thats when archtypes truly came lol with the Dwade animations
06 seemed good at the time but I replayed it and doesn't hold up. the gamplay is trash
Dom, Dom.... I 100% agree with you bro. Oh this very video hits back to the good years of the PS2. And I loved NBA Live 2004 as well as 05. Great video! This is fire! Bommshockala 🔥!
I remember buying my first PS2 and picked up Live 07. I was glued to that shit all day.
The Lock Down Defense!💯
I have a lot of memories of Live 97 (16 bit version) and Live 2000 but I don't remember playing the PS2 versions at all
2004-05 Sports gaming season was fierce
NBA Live 05
NFL 2K5
Madden 05
MLB 2K5
MVP Baseball 2005
NHL 2K5
College Hoops 2K5
NBA Street V3
NFL Street 2
06 was the one!!!! Won with The Bulls but a Custom Roster💪🏿💪🏿
This is the game that make me really watch NBA. Before that I just only knew about Jordan. I enjoyed this game a lot, especially the slam dunk contest. One of the reasons I'm a big fan of Melo is thanks to this game. Along with 06 this is definetly one of the most amusing NBA Live games.
NBA Live 2007 was great I freaking loved that game
On PS2?
Love that game.. i remember playing houston with Yao and averaging 10 blocks per game..
That '05 Live Greatness though!
To me I think 06 with wade on the cover and the one with T Mac were a little better but this one was good to
t mac cover was very nice ..i think 07 or 08
You tripping the one with t Mac was the ending for 2k and live 06 wad trash af....
whats up guys dom on the mic
Good video! I agree with everything you said here. I bought the game when it came out and was my favorite game to play at that time. The all star game feature was my favorite aspect to play of the game.
To this very day I still believe NBA Live 2005 is the greatest basketball game ever.
I don't remember it being 05. I remember it being 2006 that everyone loved so much. Including myself. 1 of the best, if not the best Live I've played.
Live 05 06 & 07 on PS2 was the best lives 08 & 09 on PS3 was decent tho
08 sucked to me.... but every other one you named I enjoyed.
Darkell White you may be right I havent played it in a min but 2K8 was way better
@@calvinluciano 2k8 was trash too lol....I had both.
Darkell White lol im hipp
Thank u so much 4 clearing this up bro
Yea NBA Live 05 will forever be a classic!!!!!! I still have this game on Xbox 😎🔥💯
I owned every Live from 95-05; this was the last version before I switched to 2k
I was 19 at this time playing for San Diego State University
This was my Senior Year of High School, the only year I ever started any games. I vividly remember during that time period, Grant Hill having a major career resurgence and starting the All Star game, Antoine Walker traded back to the Celtics mid season and the Celtics immediately went on like an 8 or 9 game winning streak (including an intense win against the Steve Nash Suns) and Shaquille O'Neal Heat was the biggest bandwagon team in the league.
Goddamn I was in the 4th grade😂😂
Kawhi Leonard's Laugh Eh heh HUH he heh
Lol no you weren’t? You didn’t go to college until 2009
I was born. I'm 13.
Loved live 05 cause it was the best game play for its time. The ability to create a character and the names the announcers had were legit names. No “big money” “t” stuff like that but real last names. It also was fun and difficult and wasn’t stale like the newer games.
Edwin Chavez ehhh I had both played 2k mostly. I wasn’t a fan of Lives arcade gameplay.
Bought this game because of your main channel video and you were not kidding. This game is a blast and a half. Being that a lot of my favorite games are on older consoles, relative to my age, I found Live 05 to be as smooth a sports game as one could hope to find in that generation of consoles. One thing you forgot to mention was that they had a good amount of legends in Live 05, like probably 15 for each decade starting with the 50s
When I was 5 years old I got this game at gamestop. Never has it ever crossed my mind that this was such a favorited game. I currently own an old ps2 I've had for a while maybe if I happen to stumble upon this game I'll get it.
I think NBA Live 06 is the best one
It is
I played this game on my cousin's laptop.
How?
2005-6 and 2012-3 were the best years of gaming in general
U have good content bro, hope you end up becoming one of the biggest hoop RUclipsrs in the game
Using Reggie Miller in the 3pt contest and using Jason Richardson for double between the leg dunk in the slam dunk contest 🔥🔥
04 was better imo. The dunk contest made 05
Live ‘06 was CRAZY
Simple, i'll answer this questions with a very simple sentence... They were the best because they were pure basketball games not based off of some virtual currency that is required to actually have fun in the game.
why do you emphasize the last letters of a word at the end of sentences "big leg up on the competitionnnnnnnneeh"
Annoying af.
Thats what i was saying... like a black dracula
lmfao shit is weird as fuck they think they’re being different

I literally just bought nba live 06 because I couldn't find 05
That's my favorite
I was only 18yrs old when this came out, I was a young adult, I had just finished high school, got my 1st apartment, and I would have friends over, and we would have $50 pick up games. okay now the dunk contest we always had a blast. The game was lit. PS2 was amazing we would also play games like Def Jame fight for NY, NBA streets Vol 2, GTA Vice City, San Andreas, Dragon Ball Z, Smackdown Here Comes the Pain, Classic PS2
Unpopular Opinion
NBA LIVE 2003 has the best soundtrack and was also the best NBA Live Ever
It was the all star weekend, mainly the dunk contest. That’s LITERALLY the only reason people loved this game, because I remember playing 2K5 and thinking “bro this shit is way better than Live this year, and it’s only $20!” But nobody believed me, and by the time we got to 2K9 I was basically a prophet lol
I prefer NBA LIVE 2004 but same difference, I guess.
I prefer Live 04. Live 05 was good to keep sim stats etc. The main issue was the little to no fast breaks and every team almost played the same. In Live 04, the fast breaks were toned down a little compared to 03 and superstars were taking the majority of the shots.
Live 05 was sweet with the all Star weekend but live 04 was my game spent so many hours playing dynasty mode on there
Live 04 was the last live that had Jordan on it, if I'm not mistaken.
Monk Man yeah I think so I remember Jordan was in the legends pool on live 04
I still play live 04 sometimes it's funner than a lot of new basketball games I remember the dynasty mode in the off-season if you skip over signing free agents sometimes star players were unsigned you could sign them for 1 year at the minimum points live had points back then instead of actual money for contracts I had a Lakers dream team Shaq Malone traded Kobe for LeBron Rick Fox and trash for Wade and Payton then I got Iverson for the minimum in off-season won back to back then lost conference finals and stopped playing
Damn this brought back so many memories. Feels like a whole other lifetime when I was playing this non-stop
I was 10 when I first played this and I didn’t have interest in basketball at all but still I loved this game till this day
Nba live 06 was the best
2005 was the last og nba game. After 06 everything was different
Great stuff. love it because it was among the first batch of games I got for my NEW ps2 for my 10th bday......it just brings me back to a time that makes me happy lol
Why 2k doesn’t have a trophy room like NFL 2k is mind blowing to me. Like how cool would it be to walk into a part of your mansion with all your MVP and championship rings on display. Then when you walk up to them, you could watch a recap of that years finals or at least stats. It’s just something they overlook. Like even now I spend a lot of time editing and crafting the league the way I see it. I just don’t understand, to me it’s like the people creating don’t actually play these games.
*Are You Reading Off A Paper?*
EA should remaster NBA Street series.
Great video 👍. The slam dunk contest was truly epic , and probably the reason why this game was stolen from me back in day
I still play this on my Xbox. This is the best NBA game ever. Soundtrack doesn't get old. And I can still play with the homies and we don't get bored. #nbalive2005
Prime Carmelo Anthony
Bro nba live 06 was a classic u probly too young but everybody in my high school played that yall get confused because 360 came out that year but it was in fact nba live 06 on the ps2 which was the last great live trust me !
I remember evryone sasying live 06 was the greatest. This my 1st time hearing everybody loved 05. I had 98 and 07 so i fucked up a lil
I remember the PS2/Xbox version of 2K6 was also better than the 360 version. I remember buying the Xbox version at launch, and then trading it in when I got my 360 on launch day (I preordered the system over a year in advance despite being in high school with no job and by launch day had stashed away enough cash to casually stroll into Gamestop and pick it up - this was when there was considered to be a massive shortage of 360 consoles) When I got home and put in the brand new version of 2K6, I was actually pretty disappointed that it was a downgrade in many ways. Even the net physics were worse. 2K7 fixed all of that disappointment luckily.
04, 05, and 06 was the golden years for Live
Live 06 issue were the newly added weapons. Problem was that superstars that had multiple weapons were only designed to get one weapon per game. Fortunately, in Live 07 they somewhat fixed it by selecting on the fly which weapon you want to use but that game as a whole was bad. I think Live 04 was the best during that time because it expanded from Live 03's engine.
bigdinlaca you know what bro I forgot about that feature in 06 and everybody would pick the suns that year and cheat 😂😂
great video. i remember the time nack in 2005! nostalgie
I love NBA Live 06 most, 05 is close second. 06 was a little bit upgraded. Superstar moves were OP, that made the game feel more arcade-y. Maybe it was too much arcadey and 05 was more balanced but I like 06 most even it was unbalanced it was mad fun.
Bruh that Live 2004 trailer with the Chingy remix had me so lit back then man. Live was the truth back then.
Lit wasn't a thing back then.....you must have been sacred and confused in 2004.
Maybe not for you. Ludacris even said it on Stand Up which came out back in 2003. Nice Try.
You probably said clout also back then cuz your ahead of the game...n bruh...plus you had the first Twitter account
Niggas said clout back in the 80's. You just young and dont know what you talking about lol
Cthe word clout has existed before the 80 u mallenial

I enjoyed Live 14
I liked 03 and 04 better. But live 05 is lit

Accurate! I missed the HELL out of the dunk contest in Live '05. If I hadn't lost my PS2 I would have hold on to it forever. Soundtrack was iconic too
I also loved that NBA Store in the game because it was designed based on the original NBA Store location in NYC. Only coming across this video now and damn, I miss this game. This brought me back to those amazing memories.
Why this dude talk so weird?
Always has a special place in my heart. It was the last game I played before I went to basic training.
