i walked slowly after my heart operation 2014 .i rest one week and start slowly walking. now i walked 10 thousand step a day for more than 9 years.i m 62 ,130/80 is my highest bp. but most of the day 117/70.i lost 18 kilos.
A year ago i decided to lose weight and try and get in shape,I changed to a healthier diet and I started walking daily, slowly increasing the distance, now I walk around 25000 steps a day and I’ve lost nearly 50 lbs.I’ve started back at the gym after a 20 year break and I’m starting to put some muscle mass back on,I haven’t felt this fit and healthy in decades and it all started with a couple of short walks a day..😊👍
I walk 5 miles everyday, at a 10% incline. That's around 1000 calories. You don't have to walk it all at once, you can break it up throughout the day. I use a treadmill.
@@sanjam11 Speed really isn't that important, it's distance, and time. Though I usually walk at 2.6mph. If I walk much faster, I get tired faster, and then I don't burn as many calories over all. It's better to walk at a speed your comfortable walking at, and that you can keep doing for a long time. I'm not really in a hurry. I wish I could run 5 miles, and be done in 45 mins, but I'm just not able to do that. My left foot limits how much time I can walk on it, and the pounding of running, just isn't a good idea. I usually find me a really good book series, and listen to it, while I'm walking, makes time go by much faster, and think less about what I'm doing, or I'll surf youtube while walking. Anything that distracts my mind from what I'm doing.
Use a pedometer, take every opportunity to walk, make opportunities to walk (3&4 were kinda the same), remind yourself with alarms, enjoy listening to media while walking, walk with a companion, enjoy exploration, pace during training breaks, use a standing desk with desk treadmill (or seated bicycle option).
Some great tips to help get 10,000 steps. Re the calories 200 x 300Kcal burnt during a walk, was that for approx. 30 mins walk, also was it Active calories burnt? I’ve seen other videos where it stated a person weighing 80KG will burn approx 800kcal over a 10KM distance (6 miles).
I have severe osteoarthritis in my knees. I also don't have much cartilage either. And I have rickets. I can't really stand. I have to use a walker in the house. And a wheelchair when I go out. I can't stand alone. Do you have any suggestions for that?
I like most of your suggestions and I do practice some of them. I try to hit close to 5k before I finish work everyday and that makes it easier for me to hit the 10k target when running errands later in the day. Great tips though!
I like the idea of walking between sets of one’s workout. But this really on seems possible for home workouts. Not really going to be able to walk away from equipment at the gym and not expect someone else to take it. But neat idea though.
Thanks for watching Eric! Doesn't have to be a full walk, just pacing around during your breaks around the equipment and taking active rests still counts as steps :)
Duh, it’s just a target. Thats like saying doing 10 reps of biceps curls is a myth. It’s just the target. You can adjust the weight and do more or less.
Hi , when the weather was icy and I couldn’t get out for a walk I googled on RUclips and found lots of indoor low impact walking exercises on there I do Leslie Sansone lots of free plans on there hope this helps take care ❤
I walk my house most of the time. Due to weather and light hours decreasing, this works out better for me. I listen to audiobooks or watch you tube videos while I walk. My house is not big but I do have one set of steps. I just walk in loops and then occasionally go up and down the stairs.
Hi , I use my Fitbit to track my steps and miles and 5000 steps = 2 miles I get these with 45 mins of Leslie Sansone indoor exercises,we live in an upstairs small retirement apartment and i do these in our spare room they are not just walking no jumping though but there are dancing ones Gina b dance to the beat and some called get fit with Rick I started to follow the weight watchers eating plan and started walking everyday 2020 was 15st 5 lbs am now 9 st 10 lbs I still follow the plan and walk as I don’t want to find it again all the best ❤️
I am 76, walking for 3 years. Went from 218 to 121. Feeling like a young adult. I use a fitbit.
Awesome job Sandra :)
I don't understand how people think wa;lkinge enought, and why do they cite fitbit?
I love my Fitbit 10-15 thousand steps a day. Great video. Advice
Wow!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🩷
Brilliant

Nice, that's the compounding effect of exercise at work!
Pay Alice and Kevin. They are a self proclaimed "keto couple", and they have PROGRAMS. Pay them and everything will be OK in your life!

Yes, it's definitely hard to get it all in on one go. Treadmill makes it much more convenient. Thanks for watching!
And what speed?

That’s brutal but effective 😮
My neurologist wants 12,000 steps. That’s two 1-hour 3 mile walks morning and evening for 6 miles
“Find a dog to walk”
Hmm
Im averaging 20k daily, now I just gotta stop eating junk
Great job hitting 20K! The junk food is definitely the hard part :P
My goal is 10,000 steps a day. Yes, purposeful walking makes this an easy part of the day. Thx for the motivation. 👏
Keep it up! Sometimes it needs to be scheduled in to make it a habit :)
@@AliceCeeCPA Nuh, done habit before. At my age it needs purpose. 👋🏻

Most days I walk an hour and forty five minutes and burn 700 calories. Definitely worth walking!
This was a very helpful video.
Glad you enjoyed!

I walk in the morning on a empty stomach for 5 miles 3 to 4 times a week , I do get in 12000 steps a day no matter what
That's awesome! Great job :)
I have found a lower appetite since started daily walking alongside which drinking more water
Great tips! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Kathy!

Swimming?
Any time you have a number associated with something, you know it's not an organic, natural part of human life, and you don't need to worry about it.
Numbers are part of nature... What do you mean?
You dont focus on the number. Your phone does. You just focus on walking. Stop being dumb. It's just like Calorie counters keep you focused.

I walk my dog, then lift weights, then do cardio. The walk uses the glycogen. After that... it's all fat burn.
Thats a great strategy! Thanks for watching :)
Evening y’all
That's right around 3.5 miles
On average I get 10,000 steps a day.
Thats awesome! Thanks for watching!
I get that on assembly line every day. Eventually, your body gets used to it.
How do you actually focus while walking on that Treadmill😁
Good point, it's more suitable for tasks that don't require that much thinking haha.
It just takes a bit of getting used to, once you find a speed you are comfortable with and can think with you can increase it over time :)
Working while walking actually increased my focus and it helps the work day go by faster

Steps? I work at home. Where do I walk? How? 20 min x 3 is 1 hr. 3 miles per hr. 3 miles is 15,000 steps? Uh no.
