    I Grew up in Victoria British Columbia , it has great shore fishing for all the species you mentioned , even close to Downtown All the Rock Fish including Red Snappers and Ling Cod , Also Salmon from Shore and sea run Cutthroats , We also caught Crabs and Shrimp around some of the Docks , Also we use to jig for Herring of some of the Bridges around Metro Victoria,

    So fun! My wife and I will be visiting your shop in a couple of weeks from Reno. I'm staying for 8 days and between the silvers and those fish, I might not go home! Thanks for the share

    And I totally agree with you that it isn’t as complicated or technical as some people make it out to be. Super fun though and replaced trout fishing for me.

      Thats rad! I see you fish newport, Ive fished that jetty a bunch! I find it more fly friendly given it doesnt have the Mighty Columbia roaring along it hahaha! Look forward to seeing what you catch out there!

      @@SpawnFlyFishI haven't fished up by you guys, but I've heard it's a crazy bar to cross! I had a few times catching more lingcod and a chinook, but didn't have the gopro at the time unfortunately.

    Dude! That hat is nice! Love the video. As a native Texan those jetties make ours look like child's play. I dont think I would be brave enough to fish off of those.

    Awesome video & enjoy your simplistic approach to it,a couple of questions do you need to carry a net or wear a PFD ( personal floatation device) ? keep up the great videos

    • @SpawnFlyFish
      @SpawnFlyFish  2 года назад

      We only use a net for salmon! rockfish I never use and just land them like I did pulling the leader in! PFD would be recommend for sure! I need to start wearing one!

    And, I thought my 5 wt and 6 wt were too small for jetty fish..How wrong I was. Nice video Josh. I want to see more.
    Thanks

    • @SpawnFlyFish
      @SpawnFlyFish  2 года назад

      I would say 5 and 6wt are indeed too small unless youre there right before dark when the little ones come out to play!

    Nice video! Been trying to draw more attention to the saltwater fly fishing opportunities along the coastline of the PNW. Keep up the good work!

    • @SpawnFlyFish
      @SpawnFlyFish  2 года назад

      heck yeah! there is far more opportunity out here than thought of! Its not what people picture fly fishing but if youre willing to work you will have a TON of success!

    Your video was Terrific. But, due to age & lack of flexibility, not able to climb around on the jetty rocks. Are there any other opportunities for fly fishing in the Ilwaco or Long Beach Area?

    • @SpawnFlyFish
      @SpawnFlyFish  2 года назад

      100% its not for everyone and unfortunately there is no easy place to fish the jetty no matter where you climb down on the rocks it is challenging! There are other opportunities come into the shop and we will tell you all about them!

    I just got my order and will be tying up some Jetty Worms for my next trip to Cape D in May. You're closed the day I get there, so I'll have to come the next day, after I've checked out if I'll be able to navigate going up/down the jetty. I'm more concerned about easiest point of entry, rather than the best fishing. Is there a section that's easier to get up/down?

      We would be happy to help! this is a bunch of information give us a shout in the shop and we will run you through it!

    Would you recommend fishing the river side of an inlet with jetties or the ocean side?

  • @joeoglez
    @joeoglez 2 года назад

    Question, will a 5-weight be okay out here? and regular fly line? because im not fortunate enough to buy the right expensive gear

    • @SpawnFlyFish
      @SpawnFlyFish  2 года назад

      I would say you run a risk of breaking that 5wt for sure. To get truly set up right the 8wt rod in this video is about 180, you can get a reel for 120 dollars and then a fly line for 100. It’s definitely expensive. You could also get a kit set up from echo or reddington then buy a sink tip and throw it on there! An 8wt is a great rod to have in your arsenal. You can cover a huge range of species with this and it’s not just a rod for the jetty!
