San Pedro, Belize has some beautiful flats with incredible flyfishing. Great video, thanks Tom.
Great overview Tom. Reminds me of the times I went bonefishing. Casting is critical. So is strip strike. Thanks.
Absolutely fantastic introduction to SWFF. 👌👌
At 5:20, some bone. I'll be on em' June 1st. As for Pat Sturzeszewski, notice Tom's rod? An Orvis Clearwater, very much affordable, check it out.
I live on the southern Ca. coast in the summers and fly fish daily there . I would like to see you guys get over here and sight fish Corbina on the beach . Very challenging !
Excellent summaries, Tom. (As usual).
great all around video!
Thanks Tom! Orvis forever.
Thank you so much for the tips Tom! I'm going out on a trip to Bali in a few months! I'm going to be trying some from the shore fly fishing! So I appreciate this video. Could you leave me in the direction of any other videos that could be helpful?

💪💪💪💪🔥great information
What a good video thank you
ouch what a sunburn!
Thank for share all this knowledge 😄👌🏻
i wish i could get some gear from orvis but its so freaking expensive
Good stuff isn't cheap my dude. Also smaller shops can put things on sale that Orvis never will. Got a Helios 3d for 25% off at one.
cabelas has a decent fly rod for beginners...you don't need to spend a lot until you grow into it.
I picked up a cabelas 3wt combo for about $100 3 years ago. Over summer I got an orvis 5wt for close to $400. The cabelas combo is way better in my opinion. Great action, super smooth reel, drag can tighten down to full lock, and I still have the original line that’s casts like a dream. Don’t chase after the big name brand, cabelas makes some super underrated fly gear for a decent price. The orvis setup is great, but feels nowhere near $400 worth of quality.
Expensive - yes, but I haven’t had a problem with the quality. I still flats fish with my HLS rod and Battenkill reel, both 25 years old.
Are the guides salt water corrosion resistant?
That's great in the tropics but the northeast the waters are murky. You cannot see them.
Can you upload the episode of fishing close to home?
I like seeing the crabs in this video
Why does the narrator have such a kind cabbage patch kids face? 21:22
How to cast when heavy wind
Is 5/6 weight good for small reds or inshore fish in the 2-8lbs range
agree with flo
A 9 weight is the preferred rod for saltwater. Its big enough to handle a 120lb fish and small enough to feel small fish. The reel is really the important part has to be big enough to handle alot of backing and a fly line. The drag isn't so important when fly fishing because fly lines are only rated to 20lbs. If you put about 7lbs of drag on the line its set up right the rest is angling. Let the weight of the line in the water wear out the fish.
Nice
ok but how do you reel the damn fish in? i see no handle
There’s a small stub that sticks out and allows you to reel the line in
Awesome show! Highly educational! However, Tom you really need to get a Buff for these conditions because your face got burnt! Cheers!
Wanna fly too
OMG you should use sunscreen while fishing!
No
Tom's too salty to use sunscreen, it would kill the vibe.
someone please send him some spf 50 cream, or a buff. poor guy was as red as a crab half way through the video.
