meditech, I probably just missed you. I married into the farm and my wife and I have been back the last 20 years. I graduated in Mechanical engineering from WSU in 92 and we moved back around 97. We have done most of our fertilization and spraying with Simplot.
This video is so damn enjoyable and addictive. Hitting repeat now. Don't know how many times I pull over on roads just to watch people in action on their farms.
Love the Drone point of view. I retired two years ago after being with the same company for 36 yrs. 32 of those years I drove Tractor Trailer and heavy equipment. Including snow removal in the winter. I loved doing the plow work when the sun is out and the snow is clean. Doing cleanup at night was fun too, no traffic. Most of the time I drove a Case with a 12ft blade on it. It would clear a lot of snow. That looked like a Case in the video, although the one I drove was a smaller model than that. If I remember right it was a 90C. Could be wrong on the number. Keep up the neat videos.

Hey Dan, I wish you the best moving to Idaho and having some acreage and less people. That is what I love about Eastern Washington. Our problem is that the Seattle area determines most of the laws in our state and they don't have a clue about rural life. I love it out here where I live.

We've seen 40c (104F.... hottest day ) some people say "it's only like being in Spain".... but when Brits go to Spain they sit and drink beer, they don't go there to do a shift in a non-aircon factory. ANYHOW as always a big thank you for your vid still bringing pleasure.

shivs08 the cascade mountain range separates Eastern Washington from western Washington which is where Seattle and all the people live. This is very rural eastern Washington.
Great video ! I was lucky enough to operate a similar JD in the mid seventies for a guy I worked for . Chains all the way around and a modified Colorado mountain V-Plow on it . It was the most fun a guy could have , breaking through 14' drifts or pulling loaded semis up a long road side slope . Sure beat the heck out of doing it on a no cab or fenders tractor .
+Jan Jensen I used Microsoft Movie Maker. It is free. It is not compatible with 2.7k video though. I originally recorded my aerial video in 2.7k and then had to convert it down to 1080 or lower. I found out after I couldn't edit any of it in the program.
My Great Grandfather owned the Bickleton Store in the early 1900's (Harshberger) I have never been to Bickleton but I want to come that way on a camping/kayaking road trip and enjoy some brew at the cool old Bluebird Tavern. Maybe see you sometime Greenhorn 40 !!!

Greetings Chris, this is dry land wheat country. there is not a lot that can be done with this land. We average about 12 inches of rain per year, which is just enough to grow some wheat. I will be making some more videos so that you can see what it looks like in the summer.
road design 101 the profile of the road should be raised to 2 ft (0.6 m) above the ambient snow cover. even better if there is a ditch that is adequate for storing the snow.
I really enjoy pushing snow. You see immediate results and it feels like you are getting things done. We enjoy having visitors over and letting them drive the equipment. It is something that most people don't get to do. Harvest time is when we get the most visitors. Almost everyone gets to drive the combine.
I haven't used it for any type of hunting. I always thought it would be great for scouting but haven't tried it yet. It would be fun spotting coyotes in the snow from high up and watching them.
Ha! The newer ones are so easy to fly. It makes it kind of boring though. 🤠 They do have amazing cameras on them! I’ve made a few drone videos on my channel. Best of luck in 2021!

We had a JD 8630 and a JD 7520 both with 14ft blades. Also had a v-plow blade mounted on the loader of a JD 4450MFD. I plowed a lot of snow as a teenager.
We had alot of snow last year here in Sisters Oregon so I bought a 27" Husky Snow Blower this year.....We haven't had a bit of Snow yet......I have a 15 grand John Deere tractor and a thousand dollar snow blower and no FUCKING SNOW......A good frost would make me HAPPY.
I have to admit...I didn’t think you got snow there. Washington is an amazing state. I’m in the Adirondacks, NY ....I like winter.....especially in the country.
Living in Australia I just can't beleive how much snow you have to deal with. It takes a video like this to put it all into perspective. Farming at that time of year must be tough.
In my own opinion, i would angle the blade the other way so that the snow furrows away from your shed, drive, and house. Pushing it towards that fence row also making a snow block to block the drifts that would happen. But thats just my two cents
At the start of the video you can see the typical direction our wind blows. I always try to plow the snow to the downwind side. If there is a hump on the upwind side it really fills in behind it. Since my driveway runs E/W and then by the house runs N/S one or the other usually drifts in.

The general rule to online video is 'keep it short and to the point'. Nobody likes long videos.

We had alot of snow last year here in Sisters Oregon so I bought a 27" Husky Snow Blower this year.....We haven't had a bit of Snow yet......I have a 15 grand John Deere tractor and a thousand dollar snow blower and no FUCKING SNOW......A good frost would make me HAPPY.

Living in Australia I just can't beleive how much snow you have to deal with. It takes a video like this to put it all into perspective. Farming at that time of year must be tough.
And that was a measly 18 or 20 inches... We regularly get 2 to 3 feet at a time in some parts of the country. Sometimes much, much more.
finewinerob , the wind blowing the snow around is what gives us the most problems. A lot of areas are either bare or drifted in.

+Ken Larson We haven't had much the last few years, so it is kind of fun to get the plow out and clean it up.
In my own opinion, i would angle the blade the other way so that the snow furrows away from your shed, drive, and house. Pushing it towards that fence row also making a snow block to block the drifts that would happen. But thats just my two cents
At the start of the video you can see the typical direction our wind blows. I always try to plow the snow to the downwind side. If there is a hump on the upwind side it really fills in behind it. Since my driveway runs E/W and then by the house runs N/S one or the other usually drifts in.
