These kind of winter videos are important to educate a clueless public as to just what farmers have to endure so we have stuff to place in our microwaves and then shove down our pie holes. There's no "OFF" switch for cows and cattle, and man, do we get in a huff when the meat and dairy departments at the store run out of sausages and ice cream. Thanks for this revealing look into America's modern farm operations. You guys are true American patriots.
Most people don’t have a clue what it takes to produce milk. This is a never ending job and cold weather just adds another dimension to the routine. Thanks to all farmers.
You are so right, farming and ranching two different beasts. My friends that grew up on a dairy farm were always smelling fresh out of the barn and got up at crazy hours. School was a luxury as dairy is a tough business.
My dad was a rural WI milk truck driver for decades, winters were tough for him...snow was ok with all the rolling hills in Southern WI the ice was a much bigger issue. Tough job in the winter for sure.
My uncle owned a milk truck company.I used to go farm to farm with my dad when i was ten.Loved it,used to get fresh milk from one our farmers, fresh cow milk is the best. Thanks for mentioning, brought back memories.
Your absolutely right, people dont know were there milk comes from. Yes the grocery store but also to the plant for processing. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO FOR ALL OF US 👍👍👍
Beautiful tractor. I bet an absolute delight to operate.... I’m a bit different than some. I love operating that old equipment when it took some serious skill. Hats off my friend love your channel
I grew up on the farm and farmed for 26 years until I went broke. I fed 225 head of cattle as well but I sold them in December usually, so I had some time to enjoy the winter. The dairy requires you 24/7/365. My brother in law owned a dairy and was a veterinarian as well. The 2 demanding jobs was really hard on him. Much respect.
we got 7'' here in Indiana I drive a dairy truck for a living appreciate all you farmers that take time to clean the roads definitely helps so much! hats off to ya!!
Nice to see someone working with older experienced iron not all the shiny new stuff. Real world. Dairy farming is hard, I moved on back in the 80's. I help a buddy out plowing snow at schools. I ran a 908 cat for a couple of years with a 12' plow on it. Now I run a case 721 with a 14' box blade.
Diary men love winter and protecting cows from falling and pumping slurry in zero conditions. It’s not a job it’s an adventure. I’m an old timer as a kid milking we used pails and milk cans . Life was hard. First vacuum line installed “ Heaven on Earth”🤗🇺🇸
Fun last week with my 520. Had to get a pull from a kubota. Pulling a big pile with my backblade i stalled out in the pile area. Went to restart and my starter blew up the bendix. Nieghbor was out of state but borrowed her tractor and mom helped give me a pull start. Got the starter repaired now just got to reinstall it. I have 320lbs on each rear tire and now 440lbs on the nose and tire chains and six foot blade. My loader is off since i damaged it and need to do major work to bring it back to new condition.
We got the snow Fri and overnight Fri here in Northern Ontario . I was plowing today (Sat) then watching you plow . What's the matter for myself ? LOL . Your dog barked in the video and my sleeping cat peeled out of the couch heading for the basement .
I haul milk for a living in northern Wi, Very few Farmers could give a cr-p how I get in and out of there drive ways , Some mornings I can spend 2 hours just plowing my driveway to get the truck out I have a few farmers like this man, He's a great guy !!!
First off I have never seen your channel and your dog is adorable! I plow commercially. All I do is driveways and small parking lots. Doesn’t it suck having a straight blade? Would it be beneficial buying a cheap 2500 with a plow off Facebook market place. And then at Least you can angle the plow. And the trailer hitch plows are amazing too. They open up to 15 feet. Do a driveway in one swipe. And btw I did subscribe. You seem like a good guy. Farmers are so important to our community!
For comfort plow truck would be great. This guy uses that deer for more than just his snow. That tractor is much faster than a truck for deep snow like that.
We got 24” just east of you in Lowell. However with only one 90’ driveway to clear no where near the amount of work you put in. Love your videos and your dog.
My hats off to you Duffy. You are living what I have always dreamed of doing and your videos are a real treat to me. I may not be able to actually climb into a piece of equipment but you are letting me see what it is like from the cab. I look forward to watching many more of your videos and have subscribed to your channel now that I found you. Thank You again for all that you do.
Hat tip to all the farmers out there. Too many people think meat and dairy come from a grocery store. I racked hay and mowed straw when I was younger and learned so much from those farmers about truly earning a dollar with available time. And to think my grandpa, who in retirement was a farm-hand, had to take John Deere driving school for the first generation articulated tractors
Good "clean" fun! Snow!! You can have all of mine... Duffy creates an excellent farming video. I caught the Cabot Co-Op logo on cap... Their cheese is the best available in most stores. Must say, Killer driving skills. I always wonder how they know where to plow. Keep up the good work on both, but please put the gopro down if safety is involved...
From a city boys point of view . That looks like a Adventure all kinds of big toys and lots of snow to play in but as farmers Just another day of hard work to bring product to the city people that rely on you GOOD JOB !
Liked you "I know I need wings". People who complain about it must think the government gives them out for free or something. They ain't. Good job working with what you have to get the work done!
You're right I do enjoy snow. And I have not had to deal with livestock in my life unless you consider my two horses but that is a lot different than however many cattle you got. For me snow means recoveries. And recoveries means making someone else's day better
amazing watching a few midwest farmer's videos with their heated shops vs this. the difference between milk operations and the corn and bean operations.
that tractor is a BEAST! and a beauty too! i have a little 1026R and a 42 inch snow blower on the front haha. i love it. i can throw good snow over 30 feet, and go through a foot of snow like nothing. i tend to wait till the snow stops to bother working it, but i can afford to wait, unlike you i expect haha. yet, got to just love the snow though. if you cant love it, winter would be miserable haha
I just realized where you guys are, I'm from central MA. I was just going to ask how the people were to deal with. Then you started talking about it. Beautiful town, but I can't imagine dealing with them.
I just found your videos but I sure was glad to notice you using the flashers on that old tractor. That's one problem I notice in my area. Newer equipment but they can't seem to turn their hazard lights on on the road.
Great video! Feel your pain snow is not your friend on a dairy ,adds more work to the day, if we were to get that much down here would not be good! Stay warm
To help stuff start in cold weather, put warm air to the intake. Flexpipe off a vehicle exhaust works. Torpedo heater or some such works much better. Works better than ether, and doesn't hurt your engine.
Amen on those who never worked in snow. I ran about 300 moms cows that I feed in the winter on a wet land. We never had a four wheel drive. the nice thing with that 7520 and the blade you do have there is no payment book tied to it love seeing the older equipment getting out there and getting it done
I like your channel .I subscribe to a few farm channels .I have a milk farm in my town but new housing developments are making land real expensive .Builders are trying to buy any available land. The farm has lots of land and more then one generation.
Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.
Big shoutout to all the farmers out there workin' hard to make sure we have food to eat and milk to drink! 👍🌽 🐄 🚜
