Another Great video! Glad your Customer is enjoying an improved ride! We need to up our video game. While we are pretty good at developing and manufacturing parts, we are no where near as good at making videos! 😮 Thanks for explaining things so well! 👍
My wife and I can't wait to get our Stage 3 suspension system. The labor costs of what we currently have installed has really set us back , however we're thinking we "can" pay for your suspension and do it ourselves.
I have these same rears on my 16 Tri Glide but in 14”. I did a 600 mile road trip right after and it was the best ride ever. It got even better when I got back and installed the new front suspension. I’ll wait for that video and see which one you went with. I have a lot of DK’s parts on my trike and will recommend them to anybody hands down. Mel up the great work with your videos and love the new logo.
Thank you for checking it out and sharing your experience. It's awesome when you come across a brand that consistently delivers excellent products. finding the right combination of front and rear suspension will greatly enhance your ride. The front suspension will be up next week!
Thank you Ken...the next video is on the tri glide to but it is not specific to it. Thank you for hanging in there on this one! Its very much appreciated.
Nicely done Steve.... I installed the convertible lift kit on my Tri Glide a couple of year's ago along with the Legend suspension front and back along with the 12"" Chubby bar's and it completely changed the feel of the ride... Now it's just a dream to ride... Again nicely done brother👊🏽😎
Thank you bro! Much appreciated! I was quite shocked at the difference in the ride. Finding the right combination of suspension and bars will greatly improve your ride.
This is on my list of winter projects, primarily because I wrecked in April of this year and now have 5 fused disks. (You can’t fix stupid!) thanks for the videos!
Outstanding instructional video. Best one yet and I will surely use it to guide me in my installation of my leveling kit. Thank you so very much for taking the time to show what your doing and explaining what you are doing as well. Thank you Sir. Big Mac.
Bagger Bro, Just came back from a trip and decided to go with the Adven Black chopped tour pack for my 2017 RGS with the wrap-around backrest for the wife. The color of my bike is Hard Candy Hot Rod Red with flames. Also got the liner as my buddy has the same tour pack but was bummed he didn't get the liner, so after watching the video that you did on the liner I went ahead and ordered a liner for him too. He'll be happy and surprised. I didn't know you worked for Adven Black. I'm really happy to see they do the color of my bike at a very reasonable price compared to Harley.. thanks for the video... what is your first name... ?? thanks from the DAWG in The Show Me State of Missouri.
what blows my mind about the hd trikes is the overall suspension on them...ride a Goldwing trike and then get back on that hd trike..I dont understand how HD cant get their shit together with the suspension ...i hate seeing my buddies having to spend tons of money just to make it ride smooth (er)
I was happy to get a trike in here for the trike people but the video did not fair well on youtube...kind of strange..I hope over time some other trike riders find it. Thank you for your support! Its really appreciated!
@@sikbaggers I sure hope the numbers go up, so it will make sense for you and other creators to make other videos for the trike riders. Hopefully you will still make the video for the front suspension. there seems to be a lot of trikes on the road.
I have a 21 Tri Glide. Of course I have the adjustment knob under the seat. Does that being there make it even more difficult to do what you did on the 2013. The knob was never mention and also the other two holes on the mount they are for newer models?
it will be the same setup...the adjustment knob will just be disconnected ...you dont even need to remove the stuff unnder the seat. just tuck the cable somewhere and zip tie it off..it wont work with these shocks. Once you do that you will have the same setup I did here.
we took legands off this trike to install these and its apples to oranges really. the legands are just basic shocks with spring assist...these have built in 2 way valves...putting these on was a ride changer..It all started because of these legends leaking 3 different times...had to remove them, send them in for replacements and was down all those times waiting on shocks...you send yours in and they send you a rebuilt set from someones else that was leaking at one point.. After this experience I wouldn't recommend legands to anyone...the risers are fine..its a piece of metal
Great video. Can the nextgen shocks be installed with the adjuster at the bottom, just incase you wanted to adjust them? How would you rate them for the Tri-Glide compared to Progressive 444, Legend or Olins?
i do not think you can run these up side down but you could give them a call and ask them..maybe they can..I never thought about it. We pulled legands off this trike because they continuously leaked, rebuilt by legend 3 times and this set was leaking too. I dont know about the ohlins on trikes..never tested them but they are good shocks on the touring models.
well this one is a old craftsman jack...built like a tank back in the day...I havent found one that is as heavy since then...and ive been through a few of them
Yes, theoretically when you answer the questions they will set up the shocks for you. Thats really the idea behind these. Self adjusting for your environment.
Great trike video. You make it look easy. It looked like the shocks you pulled off were Legend Revo with the 130 heavy duty springs. Did the Nex Gen shock improve the ride? I'm trying to decide between the Nex Gen 13" and the Revo A. Any advise?
These shocks are pretty easy to change if you have the 2 jacks in place and the jack stands. Im getting to old to be crawling around on that ground though lol And yes those are the legend Revos and at around 9:05 in the video you can see the right side shock was soaked in oil. That's because that shock was leaking again. These shocks have been rebuilt by legends 3 times since they were purchased. This was the 4th time they had leaked and this time at under 1000 miles of the rebuild. Now while legends has agreed to rebuild them again, my buddy had to weigh another period of down time and no riding while he waited for them to be rebuilt, or just replace them with something better. he went with the later. Feedback from my buddy has been 100% since we changed them. But also remember we upgraded his front suspension with racetech springs and 2 way Intimidator valves..essentially exactly what is inside the rear...giving the trike a much smoother ride.
I do have a question you maybe able to answer I want to do those shocks and I went under to look and the 2023 Tri glide has a cable coming into the shock at the top for the pre-load adjuster what do I do with that or will the new shocks have that on them
You would just remove that. You will no longer need that on the new shocks and it wont work on those either. I really wish I had a stock triglide to do this on so I could have shown that but unfortunately we had aftermarket parts on their already.
hahha man...someone caught it! Yeah the first time I dugga'd that thing it felt like my ratchet was slightly crooked, even though it clicked, being that its the wheel, I wanted to make sure. I thought about cutting that out but left it just to see who caught it. ONE UGGA DUGGA! LOL
hi i have a question i installed comfort lift it is great change on de ride and raised almost 2 inches but wi is my front forks start it to leak a little bit ??
Raing the front end wont make your front end leak...if its leaking you already had an issue and maybe that just made it come to a head. If its leaking you need to replace the fork seals...I have a great video on that as well ...this one covers rebuilding the front forks and installing new valves...but you can watch it to see how to get to the seals. ruclips.net/video/oKCChu4NgPw/видео.htmlsi=_xL7BY7tZ6YCSQpN
@sikbaggers I want to upgrade the stock front end suspension on a 2008 FLHT with a Hannigan Motorsports trike kit. I only have mid level money to put into it right now. I will be using the Intimidator fork valves but not sure what to replace the stock springs that have 86K miles on it with? Any suggestions?
I disnt talk smack about the legenads in the video because there is no reason to down one company to make another company look better. However I can tell you that if you look closely at the video around the 9:10 second mark of the video you will see the legands shock is soaked with oil. this is the 3rd time this guy has had those shocks rebuilt from legands and this rebuild had less than 1k miles on it before it leaked all over the place. They did rebuild them again but that's insane to have to be down weeks for them to rebuild your shocks over and over again. And good luck speaking with anyone at legands..its all emails as no one will take calls there. Now that being said the DK shocks outperformed the legands in many aspects. The rebound and dampening was far superior and no more jaring road bumps. Its just an overall smoother ride all around. Now I did also rebuild his front end too with the DK Intimadators and Racetech springs which made the entire trile ride super smooth. The Intimidators have basically the same 2 way valves in them as these NexGen Shocks so it overall made the trile way smoother.
@@sikbaggers they should arrive this week and I will be putting them on for a trip to West Virginia. DK does have excellent service. They even called me after I placed the order and told me when they will be shipped out. Hoping for a much better ride. Thanks!
Mike, I am the owner of the trike in the video. The DK Custom NEXGEN shocks totally changed the ride and comfort in our opinion. As seen in the video, I had a Legend lift kit installed with the REVO"s so I am only speaking on shock replacement making the differences. I noticed 2 differences right away. The first being the lean angle in corners was nowhere as drastic as with the Legends. Before anyone says anything about the Legends having a leak causing the difference, I am comparing to when I got the Legends back from the rebuild before this last one. The second thing I noticed was the ride was much smoother. More importantly after several rides I asked my wife..."Do you notice a difference in the ride?" Her answer was ..."There is no comparison!" "I can't explain it, but everything just feels better with the new ones." (DK Custom). Disclaimer: This is our experience with the change. Yours or anyone else's experience may be totally different.
The key word here is "theoretically" with these Nexgen shocks. You want the preload adjuster on the bottom of the shock on trikes. You will at some time want to make an adjustment for a particular load change. Do you want your spare tire under your car or in the trunk? If the preload was on the bottom of this shock, I would have taken a chance on this theory these shocks offer. You should note he did not answer when asked if he replaced a set of Legend shocks on this trike or said anything about how the Legend shocks perform. Yes, I'm putting Legend shocks on my trike because the preload adjuster is on the bottom of the shock. Making it easier and more accessible if I need to change the preload.
Well the question about the legends was 2 days ago and was the only one I have not commented back on since it was the weekend. But here I am at 4am on Monday morning doing just that. I do not normally trash on other companies while shooting my videos, I stick to the subject because there is no need to trash another company to make another one look good. but since you all insist...The legends were indeed replaced. At 9:05 you can see the right side shock was soaked in oil. That's because that shock was AGAIN leaking. It leaked all over the inside of my trailer and garage floor for the 3 days it was there prior to doing the install. I said "again" because these shocks have been rebuilt by legends 3 times since they were purchased. This was the 4th time they had leaked at under 1000 miles of the rebuild. They were literally just rebuilt and already leaking. Its not the first time I have seen this. And when confronted with another lengthy period of down time and no riding while he waited for them to be rebuilt, he decided it was time for something else. I dont blame him. I wish you better luck in your legends purchase than he has had. To address your concern about where the adjuster is. While I was installing them I thought about this too. With the nexgen shock there should be no more adjusting but lets say you do. Even if the adjuster is on the bottom, on a trike, you will still be laying on the ground reaching up in there to adjust them. Raise your hand up a few inches and there is the adjuster..its not getting you off of your back to adjust the shocks. Whether you intend to install a one size fits all legends and will certainly be making lots of adjustments, or you intend to use these and "may" need to adjust them you should be at least knowledgeable about what you are adjusting and dont just turn them and hope for the best as I see tons of riders do. Be aware I was not paid by them to make this video nor am I endorsed in any way by them. These are just some things to think about, sir. best of luck to you whichever way you decide to go. Be safe!
Thanks for watching Tom....why were you disappointed, if can ask? The primary function of the lift kit is pretty basic..just to remove some of the natural sag that trikes have and most all lift kits are the same ....what happened with yours?
I was told by my Harley dealer that Ledgnd lift kit would solve my suspension problem, it didn’t!! Going over bumps and railroad tracks, which we have plenty here in Chicago, I almost fly out of my seat, not my idea of great suspension 😡 I was told “ Super Shocks “ would solve my suspension problem 🤷♂️ Your opinion??
@@TomMcNeill-pq7fh yeah the lift wont solve anything but sag which makes the bike handle better, not so much on bumps. Super shocks are pretty decent too...the upgrades I did on this bike tremendously changed the ride....so much better than the leaking legands I took off of it and definitely better than stock

Going over bumps and railroad tracks, which we have plenty here in Chicago, I almost fly out of my seat, not my idea of great suspension 😡
I was told “ Super Shocks “ would solve my suspension problem 🤷♂️
Your opinion??
@@TomMcNeill-pq7fh yeah the lift wont solve anything but sag which makes the bike handle better, not so much on bumps. Super shocks are pretty decent too...the upgrades I did on this bike tremendously changed the ride....so much better than the leaking legands I took off of it and definitely better than stock
Sounds a little like the Wilbur shocks
kind of similar however the wilburs are just self leveling.

Most dealers now say retorque the wheels as soon as 50 to 100 miles!!!
its not a horrible idea to be honest.
WOW a 13 minute ad before your video starts. After the 13 minute ad next pops up another ad over two minutes that you can't skip if its not relative to you. RUclips is out of control with the ad lengths. Yesterday was 5 minute ad's today a 13 minute ad. That's going to cost you guys views.
yeah I dont control the ads homie. a 13-minute add should have a skip button for sure.
Got the YT subscription years ago, so worth the $13 a month fee to be ad free as I use it a lot for reference and how to videos.
