I have a '08 Ultra, and just bought a 2011 Tri-glide. At 64 yrs old I contracted legionnaires disease and was in a coma for 5 weeks. When I came out of the coma, I couldn't walk and lost all of my muscles. At the time I had a motorcycle. Sandman, great presentations. I really rate your advice. I am about to retire from the Royal Australian Navy after joining as a 15 1/2 year old. I have a 2013 Deluxe and a 2018 CVO Ultra. I wanted to buy a 2023 CVO Tri Glide, but HD are not putting one out. I am buying a 2021 CVO Tri Glide with 1000Km on the clock. I am so excited to get into the trike!!! Keep up the channel, your Veteran Brothers down under support you. Thank you for your Service. I also watch the Veteran Biker, a US Navy brother.
Great to hear from you. I served alongside some Ausies in the Sinai. Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. Well deserved. It sounds like you have a stable of motorcycles. I also follow Veteran Biker. Stay in the wind brother and thank you for your service.
@@cootey Great!! I love it. I watched a lot of RUclips videos, my HOG Director has a Tri Glide and I spent time on that in a carpark. Then the HD dealer got a Tri Glide in as a demonstrator, took that out for a long ride. The dealer I got the Tri Glide from was about 500km away. I rode my Ultra CVO up there and took a two day round about return trip home through varying road conditions and land scapes, put 1000Km on the clock and felt very confident about riding the Tri Glide by the time I got home.

Love my trike, me and my wife are both motorcyclist. Due to ill health my wife can no longer ride or pillion on my bike. So for us the ideal answer was to get a trike, I've has to alter the rear seat so she can get on easier. First ride out she was happy again. I've got use to riding a trike much different than a standard bike but once you get use to it, it's beautiful. I have a Kawasaki custom drifter. 1500 cc so plenty of power.
Thanks for posting this and the Trikes pro's/con's video, great information. I'm 62, been riding since 1994, but it's not fun or easy to move my 850 lb bike around in the garage or parking lots anymore, and is getting harder to save if it starts tipping over with me on it - my balance must not be what it used to be.🙄 I want to keep enjoying riding and long road trips. I'm looking at the new Harley RG-3 or a Tri-Glide Ultra, and expect to have one or the other in my garage by the end of next week.
The Yamaha Tricity 300 ... the Kymco CV3 550 ... Honda Neowing ... and other three wheelers with HTS flexible front wheels are not available in the USA. Spent the last two years looking for similar models.
In 2016 due to a knee injury it switched from and Ultra to a Freewheeler. I liked it but was really uncomfortable for my wife. So in 2017 I traded it for a Tri-Glide. She loves it. One thing the trike is NOT a smooth ride. You have those big tires back there and they catch every bump in the road. Two wheelers have a lot smaller foot print. You also have to have a lot of upper body strength to turn a trike. The curvy roads will give you a good work out.
Hey 1SG, this is SGM (R) Randles and I am considering a three wheel CAM-AM RYKER for long distance travel. How do you secure your trike when you are living in hotels or campsites? Aren’t you afraid someone will steal your trike?
At first, I was. But most bike thieves steal 2 wheelers. You can install an alarm, use a tracking device, and lock your handlebars. But if someone wants what you have, there are ways to take it. Ride unafraid. Don’t leave any valuables out in the open. Some people use a trike cover to discourage curious people. BTW, the Can-Am is a great trike. Ride safe, and thank you for your service.
I concur. My sciatica caused me to drop my bike a couple of times. I am not going to risk dumping my 77 year old wife on her face. I had my Victory Cross Country converted by California Side Car five years ago.
An easy ride on a country road, wind therapy. We all need it just like a pup does. Many things happen in life, good and sad. A Road Glide 3, a country road at daybreak or sunset is good therapy.
I see that CIB , brother. I have a honda shadow 600. But the older i get (in my mid 30s) i feel my back issues more being former infantry myself. I plan on either converting my Shadow or getting a trike myself. Depends on pricing. Ride safe, brother. 🪖🤘🏾🛵
As an old fart that just turned 69 I just converted my.softail to a trike. I also ride with a number of vets that are long time trikes. If you are worried about who thinks you are cool you are too immature to be riding anything but an electric bicycle.
Been riding my trike since 2010, no problems coast to coast, boarder to boarder many times. Rear wheel independent suspension, and EZ steer front end makes this one of the safest trikes on the road. Reverse? she rides on the back.

Well hot cars left out the very best trikes from their list, name German Boom Trike and Australian Oz Trike. Riding on either of these will quickly show how superior they are to the Harley trike.
Here's what ya say to the next 2 wheel person who says or makes a bad comment to ya..(" Whats the matter? Couldn't you afford the model with one more wheel?") Or "Weebles Wobble but they don't fall down!!"
IMHO - this video has good info, but you need to keep the background music audio low. I had to great increase the volume on my PC to hear all that you said.
I want to do a three wheel kit on my 1100 Spirit because I getting up in age (72) and my left knee is going downhill. Balance is not as good either. Stopping and waiting on two wheels in suburban traffic is a PIA.
I was watching this video and noticed your E8 patch on your jacket thanks for your service bro, i only made it to specialist 4th class during vietnam war. Hey thanks for the video as i will need knee surgery on my left knee and right knees.. I may need to get a freewheeler and i'm 68 years old and i don't give a damn what people say i have always found my own path to take and maid my peace with god a long time ago. when i drove a 18 wheeler i would say you drive your truck and i will drive mine. As long as you are in the wind what does it matter ride your ride i will ride mine HOOAH!
E4 was called the E4 Mafia. They ran the show without being in charge. Thank you for your service, and welcome home. I'm the same way, ride what you like. The new Road Glide 3 is a Freewheeler with a fairing and I think is badass. Thanks for watching.
I have been riding since I was 14 now I am 70 and just went to a Tri Glide and still have my ultra classic but because I have leg and hip problems I can’t hold it up so just tell these kid at 70 I am still in the wind and going strong
Although Honda Gold Wing Trikes are not only beautiful and a super motorcycle, Honda does not make its own trikes. That's probably the reason the author did not include the HGW. Gold Wings are in a class all their own. Thanks for watching.

I've been riding 53 years on 2 wheels either sport touring or adventure touring just sold my Ducati Multi Strade my 2nd one. Had back broken in 2000 while sitting at light on way to work. 8 months in hospital in 2007 hit deer at 60mph shattered shoulder and right hip now titanium. Throat and lung cancer in 2013. Could ride wife on back anymore. This year oncologist called after Bone and PET scans said I have to stop on 2 wheels. Just brought a Tri Glide Ultra anyone who wants to say anything all I can say is 89% of you would have stopped riding I'm 1970 the my leg was broken in rain accident. Kiss my butt I'm a true motorcycle lover tried can am its probably safer than trike but doesn't feel like bike. At least I'm still out there at 73 with all my physical issues.
When Disabled Vets look for what works with their disabilities and Spouse comfort levels, Slingshots and Vanderhalls should still be in the conversation when we are out there, just like everyone else trying to help with Poker Rides and Respectful escorts.
Drive slow and have no power? I currently ride a 1988 Suzuki cavalcade with the motor trike kit. It has a double overhead cam 16 valve four-cylinder motor rated at 107 hp.
👍! I also ride/drive my Trike in T-Shirt and shorts when the weather is warm enough (not so often in Germany . . .) Did you ever tried one of these trikes at 4:52 min ?
I have not. I saw a Rewaco trike but never got on one. I like the look and style. How about you, did you ever ride one? Thanks for watching and stay in the wind.
Hi, the blue one is a GT, the red one is a ST and the green/white one an LT (all Rewaco). Since last year there is a new type available: PUR3. The manufacturer/dealer is not too far away from my home, so I bought one. Costs are comparable to HD trikes, but I prefere the handling of the Rewaco trikes. But HD always looks and sounds best 😎!
I ride both 2 and 3 wheels most everything people say about trikes is bs I ride my trike more then the 2 wheels cause it’s a lot more comfortable my bikes are 2007 night train and 2019 triglide as far witch trike is best the only one I have ever ridden is the triglide and have no interest in even trying any others but you should always buy what you like
Morning 1st Sgt. my grandson thinks he had some contact with you back in the day. He thinks you were his Sgt Airborne ( black hat )He went through just before OIF.
I've dodged a car or two but nothing as aggressive as on two wheels. The Freewheeler has excellent traction control and drag torque slip control, allowing some aggressive maneuvering. Being aware and driving defensively is the best way to stay safe. Thanks for watching.
Although Lehman Trike kits are some of the best in the market, I was covering trike motorcycles manufactured by the motorcycle company. Thanks for watching.
i rode a few of the new ones didn't like the wheelbase,it was too short i kept feeling like i had to put my foot down, nothing dumber, even for a senior rider of many year,so i'm building one powered by a car engine rear design
First time on your channel. Great information. Helpingbyou grow. This next time🤙I will say only thing was your music was annoying and distracting. Turn it down a little please.
Yeah, and I’m thinking about trying to call written Harley everything ever since I’ve been a kid and I’m thinking about the trike because it’s like shit where is Steve-O Michelle Danny video which it is and you can carry quite a bit more on it sounds like there’s a lot of people out there have no idea what you’re talking about
I have used both brakes in a curve but my entry speed was executed before the curve. The stability of a trike is more forgiving than a two-wheeler when it comes to trail braking with either front or rear brakes. Thanks for watching.
Top! I am considering a trike conversion because I live on a sand road in SOUTH GA. My 2 wheel Dyna has bogged down and is very hard to control in deep loose sand. Will a trike be more manageable in these conditions?
A wider platform may say yes, but I know South GA sand can bog down anything. See if you can borrow one from a friend or rent one and try it out before buying. Thanks for watching.
You didn't mention anything about the new Honda Trike bike. It's bening manufactactured by Honda as a trike, not a kit. You didn't mention anything of the German built, Boom Trike, and going along with it, the Rewaco Trike. Also made in Germany being sent here to the US. And you can't forget about the monster of all trikes, The Boss Hog.
Trikes are double the weight of the RoadGlide. So I have two questions. How are you guys doing with MPG? How long are those motors lasting because of that extra weight?
When I rode Route 66, I was getting about 37 mpg, which was less than my brother's Road King. He was running 107, and I have a 114 engine. I don't know how long the engine will last, but I'll run it until it doesn't anymore. Thanks for watching.
Trikes are slow?😂🤣 Watched a vid yesterday where the Freewheeler owner put a Stage 4 package on and it produced over 150 HP. I like the paint on your Freewheeler. Is that stock or did you do a repaint because the way that paint flops is unbelievable.👍
trikes are slow bulky and can't have fun on the twisties...wrong..got plenty of videos on my channel of just how far off that is. I live in east TN and ride the mountains a lot and haven't had any issue at all riding those roads. Yeah its not no yeeter bike but honestly though can handle the twisties better in most cases than most other dressers and bigger bikes. All it takes is time and getting used to the limits of the trike and your abilities as you said and yeah they can be even more fun that most other harleys.
I think the three wheel is a choice there are thousands of young people riding Can AM Rykers men and women so its nots just the old people just riding 3 wheelers.and as far as safe they are .but the Can-Am are much safer because of the two wheels in the front.remember the one wheel in front ATV's was outlawed because of them turning over ,Harley just recently started putting on the training wheels as a option.which i dont have a problem with that.but the two in the front is more stable.and yes anything can be turned over.harley just has been around a long time but not in the 3 wheeler business that long .but there new 3 wheeler which leans is much more stable.and this includes Honda trikes too.and like you said i just want to ride and enjoy the outside open air.now me personally I just think the Harley are just World War 2 design needs to change up there style.its so 1963 but people still like them and its okay.buy for me i like the quite sounding air ride of the canam RT limited.my wife and i hate the loud exhaust and the shaking engine.we dont care for that classic era in a bike.remember to each its on.but ill ride with anybody thats want to get on the road sports bike.touring,3 wheeler or 2.just my comment only to each its own.
Very good points. However, Harley is the OG of three wheel motorcycles. Harley-Davidson manufactured the Servi Car (3-wheeler) from 1932 to 1973. The trikes of today have far superior technology to keep the three-wheelers grounded. I appreciate your comment. Ride on and stay safe.
I've had the touring Spyder, the Sport model Spyder (F-3) and now the Harley Freewheeler. The spyders are like riding a snowmobile with wheels in my opinion. They are easy to ride because you don't have to clutch, shift, etc. But for me, riding my freewheeler gives me the closest experience to riding on 2. Plus, it's still a Harley. Just my opinion but I would never want to go back to a Spyder.
I'm with you on the Honda GW. Unfortunately, they don't make trikes. You buy the GW and a third party vendor installs the trike kit. I still think Honda makes an awesome machine. Thanks for watching.

The Freewheeler and trikes in general have extended the riding years for many riders. Hooah! Thanks for your service.
I really like the stowage space on my TG because it allows me to take all the stuff I don;t need!
Same here. I always overpack. Thanks for watching and stay in the wind.
Hey Host/guy, love your phrase " let's ride, NOT, what do you ride"! People who nit-pick the small things are what a riding trip-a "wet blanket" to a fun trip. Boo-hiss to them!🏍️👍😁 Doug 58 with nothing to prove to the "punks" in the crowd.
A quote from the movie "Wild Hogs", "I just want to ride man!" Thanks for watching and stay in the wind.
G'day, how did it all go for you to transition to the trike?
@@cootey Great!! I love it. I watched a lot of RUclips videos, my HOG Director has a Tri Glide and I spent time on that in a carpark. Then the HD dealer got a Tri Glide in as a demonstrator, took that out for a long ride. The dealer I got the Tri Glide from was about 500km away. I rode my Ultra CVO up there and took a two day round about return trip home through varying road conditions and land scapes, put 1000Km on the clock and felt very confident about riding the Tri Glide by the time I got home.
@neilcarlile63 thanks mate. I just don't know yet, plus they're really expensive!
Great video and I really would like to get a 3 wheeler!
You should! Thanks for watching.

Three-wheel riding is the way to go for those with limited mobility. It extends our riding years. Thank you for watching.
I have a trik. It's a Yamaha converted star with a Hannigan ket .I road it from Tennessee to California. It's like being in a Cadillac with the top down.
I would love to see that. Trikes are super comfortable. Thanks for watching.
It's all about staying in the wind. Thanks for watching.
I have 3 two wheeled motorcycles and 1 trike, all are different and i love them all 4
You have a stable of bikes. I just picked up my new two-wheeler. Check out my latest video. Thanks for watching.
I'm anxious to know. Did you get the HD RG-3 or the Tri-Glide Ultra? Thank you for watching.
I don’t really care what anyone thinks about what I ride. I love my Tri Glide. Besides I was on two wheels before most of these people were born.
It's been a long time on the hardtop for you. Stay in the wind.
Great video. I have a Triglide and I love having all this information. Thanks, Sandman!
I'm glad the videos help. Thanks for watching.
The Yamaha Tricity 300 ... the Kymco CV3 550 ... Honda Neowing ... and other three wheelers with HTS flexible front wheels are not available in the USA. Spent the last two years looking for similar models.
You're right. Thanks for watching.
Tri-Glides are better for passengers. Thanks for watching.
My Boss Hoss has air suspension and is a VERY comfortable ride plus it drops its ass when a gas it to keep the front wheel on the ground
Well done on these videos. I've shared these with a friend of ours that is learning to ride.
Great content.
Awesome, thank you! Thanks for sharing.
Great Comparison Sandman ! Loved this video !
Glad you liked it!
When you get sciatica as you age and still want to ride, a trike is the answer. It was very painful to even move my FLHC out of the garage.
I know the pain. Thanks for watching.
I concur. My sciatica caused me to drop my bike a couple of times. I am not going to risk dumping my 77 year old wife on her face. I had my Victory Cross Country converted by California Side Car five years ago.
@@bend1951 Thank you, my wife refused to ride with me anymore. Ha ha. Side cars are cool, be safe.
An easy ride on a country road, wind therapy. We all need it just like a pup does. Many things happen in life, good and sad. A Road Glide 3, a country road at daybreak or sunset is good therapy.
Therapy is where you find your center and many of us find it on a motorcycle with our hair on fire. Thanks for watching.
I see that CIB , brother. I have a honda shadow 600. But the older i get (in my mid 30s) i feel my back issues more being former infantry myself. I plan on either converting my Shadow or getting a trike myself. Depends on pricing. Ride safe, brother. 🪖🤘🏾🛵

That is funny. I agree. Don't care what anyone thinks. Ride your ride and stay in the wind. Thanks for watching.
Been riding my trike since 2010, no problems coast to coast, boarder to boarder many times. Rear wheel independent suspension, and EZ steer front end makes this one of the safest trikes on the road. Reverse? she rides on the back.
Outstanding! Thanks for watching and stay in the wind.
As soon as the come out with a v-twin powered Green Machine, I'll be all about that trike life!

Well hot cars left out the very best trikes from their list, name German Boom Trike and Australian Oz Trike. Riding on either of these will quickly show how superior they are to the Harley trike.
I'm sure they left out some very cool trikes off their list. Thanks for watching.
I'm planning to get the HD Tri Glide Ultra. Yes, my knees aren't what they used to be.
Same here. But riding a 3-wheeler keeps me in the wind. Thanks for watching.
Here's what ya say to the next 2 wheel person who says or makes a bad comment to ya..(" Whats the matter? Couldn't you afford the model with one more wheel?") Or "Weebles Wobble but they don't fall down!!"

Oh yeah, mine boogies down the road when I want her to. Thanks for watching.
IMHO - this video has good info, but you need to keep the background music audio low. I had to great increase the volume on my PC to hear all that you said.
I appreciate the feedback. I'll keep it in mind for the next video. Thanks for watching.
I want to do a three wheel kit on my 1100 Spirit because I getting up in age (72) and my left knee is going downhill. Balance is not as good either. Stopping and waiting on two wheels in suburban traffic is a PIA.

Honda Gold Wing Trike: how did this NOT make the list?
Although Honda Gold Wing Trikes are not only beautiful and a super motorcycle, Honda does not make its own trikes. That's probably the reason the author did not include the HGW. Gold Wings are in a class all their own. Thanks for watching.
anybody who tells me it's not a 'real' mc i tell them, 'that's funny. i had to get a mc license to ride it.'
And wear an approved motorcycle helmet. I agree 100%.

Because I ride a Tri Glide (2020) I don't ATTGATT. I could ride in a T-Shirt, shorts and slippers if weather permits.
I usually ride with my vest and short sleeves but always wear jean pants and boots.

Wow! That beast needs to be on a list all its own.
How about an aggressive maneuver? Like dodging so.ething or car in the road. Will it correct.
I've dodged a car or two but nothing as aggressive as on two wheels. The Freewheeler has excellent traction control and drag torque slip control, allowing some aggressive maneuvering. Being aware and driving defensively is the best way to stay safe. Thanks for watching.
How about the Lehman Tryke made from Suzuki,Honda,Indian,Victory,Harley?
Although Lehman Trike kits are some of the best in the market, I was covering trike motorcycles manufactured by the motorcycle company. Thanks for watching.
i rode a few of the new ones didn't like the wheelbase,it was too short i kept feeling like i had to put my foot down, nothing dumber, even for a senior rider of many year,so i'm building one powered by a car engine rear design

I didn't get the name but the rear end is the rear of a car. Very nice indeed.
First time on your channel. Great information. Helpingbyou grow. This next time🤙I will say only thing was your music was annoying and distracting. Turn it down a little please.

Yeah, and I’m thinking about trying to call written Harley everything ever since I’ve been a kid and I’m thinking about the trike because it’s like shit where is Steve-O Michelle Danny video which it is and you can carry quite a bit more on it sounds like there’s a lot of people out there have no idea what you’re talking about
Some riders quit riding instead of switching to a trike. Very unfortunate. Thanks for watching.
How is a Honda Goldwing Trike conversion not on this list?
At the time of this video, Honda did not manufacture their own trikes. But, I agree, Honda Goldwing Trikes are awesome trikes.
Can you trail brake with the rear break in a curve
Basically if it has a steering wheel it’s not a motorcycle. Trikes are motorcycles because it has handle bars.
I agree 100%.
I will keep them in mind for a video update. Thanks for watching.
What about the Honda GOLD WING? None Better in my opinion!
Oh, I agree. However, Honda does not fabricate trikes. Thanks for watching.
My 2014 TG has 31k for mileage and still going strong...
My 2012 is 1150 pounds. that is not double the weight of a RoadGlide.
@@CatfishLove The new one is over 1700 pounds according to dealership videos.

Trikes are slow?😂🤣 Watched a vid yesterday where the Freewheeler owner put a Stage 4 package on and it produced over 150 HP. I like the paint on your Freewheeler. Is that stock or did you do a repaint because the way that paint flops is unbelievable.👍
Freewheelers are awesome. My paint is stock from HD. Snake Venom paint job. Thanks for watching.
trikes are slow bulky and can't have fun on the twisties...wrong..got plenty of videos on my channel of just how far off that is.
I love eastern TN for its roads and great riding. Thank you for sharing your experience on 3 wheels.
The state of Louisiana says anything with less than 4 wheels requires a motorcycle endorsement.
Each state has its own definition. Glad you watched. Stay in the wind, brother.

Boss hog is number 1
100%
I've heard good things about the Spyder but nothing replaces the feel and rumble of a Freewheeler. Thanks for watching and stay in the wind.
