I have a '08 Ultra, and just bought a 2011 Tri-glide. I will say the trike is worse in the rain due to hydroplaning, plus you can't get clear of holes in the road because you have three tracks to worry about. It also gives your arms a workout. But
They are a fun stress free way to enjoy the open road with a passenger. No worries about holding up your bike, stopping on loose gravel or stone, and slow parking lot maneuvers.

The myths and misconceptions are just that. I have a 2009 Sportster XL883C and a 2017 HD Freewheeler. I'm not giving up either! They both have their own uses for me. And they're both cool. 😉

tried free wheeler then Spyder, no comparison for comfort. I agree that HD has more motocycle feeling, but Spyder rt is like a Cadillac, and full equipped at a fraction of the price of HD. MaybevImam biased, but the dealer here take more Harleys in trade in then any other brand.

As a 50 year old, that’s been riding motorcycles, my whole life and now that I’ve got stage four lung’s I’m really thankful that my trike allows me to still ride because I don’t have balance like I used to, and I need a place to put my oxygen. I’m just glad I can still get out there and ride! 🇨🇦❤️ 🏍️

I don’t care if someone doesn’t think they are a motorcycle or not. When you get old and or handicapped your choices are three wheels or stay home. Most people choose to ride! That is why Harley makes them and why their are so many aftermarket manufacturers

At 64 yrs old I contracted legionnaires disease and was in a coma for 5 weeks. When I came out of the coma, I couldn't walk and lost all of my muscles. At the time I had a motorcycle. I loved riding but I knew my riding days were over. My sister mentioned to me about getting a three wheeled bike. Well I looked into it and I bought me one. Thank God I did and now I'm back on the road and the wind in my face😊

YEP! I felt myself aging out of my two wheelers, and began shopping probably a year before I actually needed it. First thing I had to get past was sticker shock? Next was learning the desirable options that trikes have. Then figuring out what was must have options Vs not needed options. Having fully gone through the process which took a while, I was able to get the must have options I knew I needed. Still sticker shock was the most prevalent problem to overcome. $20k seemed to be the starting prices Because I am an expert on collectible 90’s Moo Glides, I decided an older Trike with the right options, would satisfy my needs. Bought a 98 ultraClassic with DFT Trike conversion. Independent rear suspension and mechanical reverse. 20k miles. And a free matching trailer for $10K. Couldn’t be happier!

In reality trikes are not motorcycles , if they were there wouldn't be two different names .
      Motorcycle - two wheels
      Trike - 3 wheels
With that being said I love my home built trike 😁

I ride a trike and the one thing all these videos fail to mention is this! Since you have to 'steer' the trike with the handle bars, there is a natural tendency to roll on the throttle when making a left turn. This is the ONE thing I caution people about when riding a trike and I have never seen one of these videos mention it!

TriGlides (not conversions or "Frankenbiker) have an Inertia Measurement Unit or (IMU) which I refer to as an Inertia MANAGEMENT Unit. What I mean is if a rear wheel becomes airborne into a curve the IMU will retard power to the contact wheel thus leveling you out preventing a rollover.

    • @sandmanrides4318
      @sandmanrides4318  Год назад +2

Many riders don't understand that and still believe trikes are easy to roll over. Even conversion kits can be manageable if you maintain your speed.

There's absolutely no question that my Tri Glide is more comfortable and less tiring than a two-wheeler. It's really the ultimate in motorcycle highway cruising. You really have to respect the turns. A couple of times I've had the inside wheel come up off the pavement when taking a roundabout a little too fast. It's not a big deal, though, because all you have to do is roll off the throttle and it will settle down. As for power, I've never had any lack of power but you have to remember it isn't meant to be a sport bike. You can sometimes get the feeling that you're being slung off the machine but really it's just a feeling and you won't be thrown off if you're paying even a little attention to your riding. As for the "cool" factor...I've never really been cool anyway. I'll just ride my own ride and ignore the haters.

My personal distinction between a "car" and a "motorcycle" - with a motorcycle your passenger rides behind you, with a car your passenger rides beside you. The Spyder is a car. It has a steering wheel, speed and braking are controled with you feet (just like a car), and your passenger sits beside you. What about sidecars? Well, you passenger could sit behind you but chooses not to.

In 2016 due to a knee injury it switched from and Ultra to a Freewheeler. I liked it but was really uncomfortable for my wife. So in 2017 I traded it for a Tri-Glide. She loves it. One thing the trike is NOT a smooth ride. You have those big tires back there and they catch every bump in the road. Two wheelers have a lot smaller foot print. You also have to have a lot of upper body strength to turn a trike. The curvy roads will give you a good work out.

But if someone wants what you have, there are ways to take it. Ride unafraid. Don’t leave any valuables out in the open. Some people use a trike cover to discourage curious people. I think the three wheel is a choice there are thousands of young people riding Can AM Rykers men and women so its nots just the old people just riding 3 wheelers.and as far as safe they are .but the Can-Am are much safer because of the two wheels in the front.remember the one wheel in front ATV's was outlawed because of them turning over ,Harley just recently started putting on the training wheels as a option.which i dont have a problem with that.but the two in the front is more stable.and yes anything can be turned over.harley just has been around a long time but not in the 3 wheeler business that long .but there new 3 wheeler which leans is much more stable.and this includes Honda trikes too.and like you said i just want to ride and enjoy the outside open air.now me personally I just think the Harley are just World War 2 design needs to change up there style.its so 1963 but people still like them and its okay.buy for me i like the quite sounding air ride of the canam RT limited.my wife and i hate the loud exhaust and the shaking engine.we dont care for that classic era in a bike.remember to each its on.but ill ride with anybody thats want to get on the road sports bike.touring,3 wheeler or 2.just my comment only to each its own.
