      yeah hd is notorious for bad suspension. Tons on the market thought to choose from. The problem with most is there is no " set it and forget it" specially if you are switching between 1 up and 2 up all of the time or adding cargo off and on...changing the weight often means you need new settings for sag, rebound and compression.

    What about oil and symmetries according to the speed of compression and rebound. Might be overstepping the boundaries of such a fast paced video but people have questions. Also add valving ,are there different shims for the speed of oil that passes through the valve stack? Do they provide shims or spacers that allow for critical adjustment for different senerios of riding be it track or casual?
    Not putting you on the spot but if we're going to spend $$$$$$ on this it's worth the knowledge to give it a better understanding of the material your putting out.

    Hey Steve
    I am a short guy so I dropped the front with a 2” progressive lowering spring when installing the fatty front end.
    I also lowered the rear with 2” lowering block.
    That said would it be a good idea to get the 13” reservoir shocks? Seems I would be taking away from the full travel and not sure if it would bottom out if not set to a stiffer setting than I need
    I weigh 170, wife weighs 130, also have a tour pack with rear 6x9 speakers so about another 40-50 lbs.
    should I just go with an upgraded 11” rear shock for my FLTRXS?

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  15 дней назад

      Hey Troy...what size is your real wheel? Its kind of a give and take...if you lowered the rear 2 inches and add 2 inches to your shock you'll be right back where you started...if you have a 16 inch real wheel you will have more room to play but if its an 18 and you lowered it 2 inches already you are cutting it close now...

Okay, that's my excuse. Back in the day when I was in the Marine Corps we'd say excuses are like azz-holes, everybody's got one. Well that was mine 🤣 So, I finally got my 21" front wheel from MotoTeks (DNA), a pair of chrome fork lowers, plus some new cans to transform the looks of my RK. Hey Steve, had to re-watch this as contemplating a change from air ride. I have the JNR, I ride a mix of solo and 2 up, I'm 180 and the girl is 165. My question is when you look at specs the standard duty would be fine for me and give a better ride but the high end range is to low for 2 up riding, you look at the HD spring then the low range is way to high for solo at 180 lbs. This is why I went air ride, I'm also short legged, so thought about doing the 12 inch instead of 13, but don't want to bottom out when 2 up. The air ride is fine for me solo but have to really air up when 2 up and in some instances, slow menuvers makes the bike feel unstable. Looking for an opinion on what you would suggest for the best shock in this situation. BTW got that new Biker Bar installed in the new trailer and love it! Thanks again for the video on that.

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  6 месяцев назад

      The bad thing about any adjustable shock is when you are switching back and forth between solo and 2 up it sucks you have to re adjust. Some shocks are easier than other to adjust but most require you to at the minimum, pull your bags off. With this canister system and having the 3 adjusters on top will make a huge difference in making changes quickly. Canister shocks are for cooling the fluids down when you are riding hard. But having that adjuster at the top is pretty cool. There really isnt much out there that makes adjusting shocks easy, or quick, unfortunately.

      There are a lot of shocks out there for different styles of riding and bike builds. I preferred the fox on the performance bagger build but the Ohlins are one of the best since we cant get these now. But my other bikes have Dirty Air, air ride on them, front and rear...thats my preferred shock for cruising.

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  2 месяца назад

      Hey josh...the 2024 shocks have made some good improvements over previous years but I feel your pain on that one...HD should be embarrassed with their suspension, as usual...you may look into getting the cvo style shock that has an adjuster on the lower bag rail like these on ebay..these were take offs. www.ebay.com/itm/326237429376 There are tons of them on ebay already so that says a little bit about the quality of them...but much easier to adjust. Or something like these fox shocks can be adjusted on the fly on the reservoir but I dont see a huge difference when i adjust with the lever. I pretty much leave them on the medium setting and never touch my adjustment.

    Would these work well on my 2019 Road Glide Special for two up riding and touring with gear? We have added a King tour pack, and factory lowers in the front so it resembles a Limited Ultra. Although touring is a part of what we do, we also like to get into the curves and ride a bit more aggressive at times. Did they stop making these? They appear to be out of stock at every place I checked online. Last question....ours is in Scorched Orange. If there is a way to mount these adjacent to the king tour pack, does this orange color combo match well with a scorched orange? IM thinking these would not only look SICK but would provide a noticeable improvement to our rear suspension over stock. ALso would provide adjustability for loaded with gear for touring vs just day riding two up. Your thoughts?
