Great and very informative video. I'm having my favorite shop install my front shocks in 2 weeks and I can't wait. I just installed the HD 044 rear shocks myself and what an improvement. Please keep the videos coming.
This is so amazing, The amount of science that is gone into this is just mind blowing. Nothing against normal dealers but I think If I wanted to best bang for the buck you want to have one of the professionals install and set it up.
Ohlins will work with your local dealer and answer any questions they have, or you could just have your local HD dealer watch this video 😉. But seriously these guys know their product inside and out.
@@dabeard_ Is the installation free at the rally you were at? If so, I’m going to look up which rallies they’ll be attending and have them perform the install. They know what they’re doing. They’re the pros and it’s a breeze with them installing it. There’s no ‘learning’ with someone from the dealership because they don’t install many of these 🤦🏻♂️.
My understanding is that installation is between $300-350 after getting an email from the Ohlins guys. I've ordered a set of FKS- 228s for my 20 FLHTK and will do the work myself. I'm not a wiz mechanically but with patience and care I'm not too worried about doing it. Just have to have a little confidence and video's like this help an awful lot.
So how do you know where to stop the shocks at in the pinch points? Is there a measurement or a process to make sure they are installed at the same height in relation to say the axle bolt?
Thanks for making detailed install video. Post cartridge install ride, how different is handling & road feel ? Also, Please help share your riding experience/findings after (Front & Back) Ohlins upgrade. I'm running stock suspension on 20-ultra & looking to do an upgrade to achieve best comfort, handling, & road feel. Many thx
@@BaggersandBrews When you say night and day difference give some examples like you did when you mentioned going over bridge abutments …. Those joints in the road where the bike is usually jarred or you nearly fly off the bike with the stock shocks. The new shocks absorb the bump without nearly losing control or worse. I think the bearded guy said that the bike now glides over those bumps without any issues. Heck, maybe record your going over bumps so we can see. Thanks
Is it necessary to change the fork seals when doing the Ohlins cartridge change ? If yes, is there a mileage where they should be changed? what if the bike has under 200 miles ?
There is an answer, check out the ocean city video where they do the install on Burt's bike and they go into how they make that decision. His fork seals were changed. if you are under 200 miles you're fine, unless for some weird reason the bike or the forks are super old .
Oh my gosh where did you get this done at??? I did the rears on my road king and I’d love to get the fronts done but I’m not confident in doing it myself
Onlins suspension is 2nd to None, I have it on my CBR1000RR HRC F & B And I live only 20 mins away from Road Atlanta Racway and I Ride track days and it is Amazing the adjustability. Also run it on my Full Race Downhill MTB and it Blows everything else in the weeds it will make you a much better Rider !!. It's Worth Every Penny and then some
Honestly Ward I think all of their cartridges are basically the same install , but I would shoot them an email to be sure . Are you planning to install your own ?
ok, So I may have a different answer from George because he has front and rear. I only have rear for now... But my opinion has changed. The first Upgrade anyone should do with a New Bike is Suspension. it's a different bike. Rides like a dream!! Makes riding so much more enjoyable... cant wait to upgrade the front!!
@@dabeard_ has either one of you guys rode w/Dirty Air Suspension on the rear …? I had that put on my 2009 FLTR that I built from when I bought new in 09. Put dirty air on it like three years ago, fast up. I couldn’t believe the difference… reason why I’m soooo curious is I’m wanting to put sum serious audio in my bags and am looking for somebody that can compare the two different suspensions… thanks
I just did the Nix 22's, HD dealer charged me $650. I called around and could have saved $100ish, dealer location was easiest plus specific tech always works on my bike. The improvement in the handling is crazy! Ohlins 13" 772's in the rear.

How'd it turn out with the front shocks?

personally I'd try and get to a rally and Have them Do it. but that's just me!!
@@dabeard_ that seems to be the way to go.

HI Mate, nice work on the forks, very impressed with the way you went about doing the job.
Thanks
I have the 772s on the rear, just ordered the Fks 228s. Can’t wait to install myself.
How was the install and ride now?
Great Video guys! Front suspension life matters 🤟🏽
Hell yeah
Ohlins the best hands down!!!!!
We couldn't be happier!
Very informative! Thanks 🙏
Thank you for watching, glad you found value in it.
I’ll be getting those 👍🏽👍🏽
That's awesome nomargins, you won't be dissapointed.

Cableguy I honestly don't know the answer to that question, that sounds like one for the pros at Ohlins

Khaja We will definitely be doing a full review and follow up video, but so far the difference is night and day....its a new bike.

That’s great to hear Michael, so far I definitely agree…..worth every penny.
Is the same way the Ohlins FKS 228 NIX 22 kit is installed? Any differences in process? Thanks

well there ya Go Papa P. check it out
Why did you go to Ohlins over Legends?
The hight adjustability of the rear shocks is what drew me to Ohlins
Ok you’ve had front and rear suspension changed, upgraded, Whatta ya think

Are there adjustments on top for Street Glides?
Approx what do techs charge for labor?
I'm not sure actually maybe Ohlins could answer that .

$350 is what we charge at events for cart kit installation.
Thanks Joe!!
Thank you all for your replies! My bike really needs this. She's got some miles on her. lol
Thanks again!
