I love the Fox 13" IFP-R bagger shocks. Huge improvement. Fox also has a bagger fork spring kit for 2014+ that takes out the small bump chatter and helps a lot with brake dive and cornering. It's only $130 for the kit and takes about an hour to install. FYI, "dampening" is to make something wet, "damping" is what suspension has, that calms oscillations.
I ride an 2019 Iron 883. A couple of months ago I swapped out my rear shocks to the Legend Revo’s (not the A with rebound but the standard shocks). Had I known what a difference it would make I would have done it much sooner. The ride is night and day better. I went with the 13” shock on Legend’s recommendation. It gives about a 1/2 “ more travel than the stock shocks once you preload the shock to the 1” recommended sag. Places where I was getting really beat up have smoothed out considerably now. Also as you mentioned in the video I have definitely noticed that the smaller imperfections in the road that used to give some jolts with the stock shocks aren’t even noticeable with these shocks. It just soaks up the small stuff so as to make them not seem to be there at all. An added benefit of the 13” shock is a noticeable increase in lean angle. I haven’t ridden the Fox shocks but I can whole heartedly recommend the Legends to any of you sporty riders looking to smooth out that ride.

Based on your very positive testimony on the ‘entry level’ Legend shocks, I’m expecting to be riding like a King on the Revo Arc ones.

Anymore when I hear it was slammed to the ground for the stance, all I hear is a bike that will never leave the county its registered in. And that's cool if that's the type of riding you want but for me, I want to cover states per day not bar to bar, Used to be that's what a bagger was for. I have 18 roadking special I needed even lower then the stalk low pro shocks it came with. Im only 5'5" & I ended up installing air ride, really helps me when backing and parking especially on uneven grownd flat footed. And when i take off its nice to be able to adjust up to a good comfortable ride hight. Grate video .

I have a 2018 Street Glide CVO with front and rear JRI suspension. Rears are 13 inch single adjustable and front is their adjustable cartridge set up. I have 7k miles on the stock setup and this is a major upgrade and for those who have only upgraded the rears doing the fronts make a major difference. Rears are a 10min job and front was approx a 3 hr job but pretty straight forward.
Thanks for the video. Here in Scottsdale AZ during bike week last April. I took a 2018 Street Glide Special over to Skully customs . They were set up here for the event. For just about 800.00 they installed a life time warranty air ride system on mine and a friends bike as well. For another 900.00 they installed a MRI center stand. You could do the air ride with or without the center stand. The air ride Gives you 5”s of travel adjustable on the fly. Now I will never go back to stock or even close to stock suspension. Just wanted to give a little feedback from Scottsdale AZ.
I’m looking at aftermarket rear shocks for my ‘19 FLTRU and can definitely confirm your statement about how the rear stock shocks ride so much better with two people on board versus solo. Even at 0 preload, my 195lb doesn’t compress the 13” stock shocks for any bit of sag at all. But once my beautiful wife hops on back, the bike rides like a dream and requires only a couple turns of preload to achieve perfection. Finding new shocks that achieve the same effect when I’m riding solo AND two-up will definitely get my attention and money 💰
Matt, I took your advice a year ago and spent the coin for Legend front and back. I’ve been really happy with this setup. BUT! I rode a new, stock RGS yesterday. Wow! I immediately noticed the difference! Thanks for the great videos and recommendations. I know now I can’t ride my RGS without the Legend upgrade.
Matt, i really appreciate you "getting out there", riding, experimenting, reviewing the bikes, different roads & locations, & new equipment, and bringing us this content. It is helpful & enjoyable to watch. I check my subs list everyday, hoping to see a newly uploaded video from you, b/c i know it will be interesting & fun to watch. So, about "my" suspension: 2018 CVO SG! One thing I love about the suspension is the adjustable rear. Funny tho, I seem to prefer the plushness of the setting decreased to 0, over the stiff & tight "ride quality" set all the way to max preload. I am 6'2", ~250 pounds. I'm thinking about going BACK, to zero preload. One thing i HATE is how the FRONT slaps around at high speeds if I hit med to large dips in the road. I really could use a steering damper on the front, after 75mph. Waiting on a new offering from GPR for a 2018 CVO SG. They dont have one for this model yet. Any "other" suggestions? I have a 2014 SGS. Installed 13 inch Heavy duty Fox shocks (HD matched 2up weight specs). Riding 2 up was great --- never could get the setup "great" for just myself. Ended up putting the Pro-Action fork kit in my bike and was so impressed I purchased their 13 inch rear shocks to try in place of the Fox. WOW WOW is all I can say. Fox shocks are headed to ebay.
I've got new ohlins 30mm cartridges up front and ohlins hd357 in the rear on a 2014 street glide special. Handles like a Ducati or BMW superior stability and handling at high speeds. Also upgraded to galfer 320mm brake rotors and brembo monoblock calipers in the front and upgraded rear rotor to galfer. Complete package!

I've got Legend cartridges and Revo A shocks on my '14 Road King. The bike simply feels much more planted and stable. My only complaint is that it's firmer than I would prefer (I'm 5'10" and 185 lbs.). I would be willing to try thinner fork oil and lighter springs out back.
I installed 13" Legend REVO-A this weekend on my 2020 RGS, and I have a nice saddlemen seat. New rear shocks should be the first upgrade on a new Harley.

So I'm guessing the only difference is the compression damping between the two, with the Legend having a better compression damping as it handled the smaller bumps better. Both setups should've been recalibrated to the rider at the switch though. Obviously, a preload set incorrectly (which is what was the case after the switch) will result in a less comfortable and less confident ride. That's why Matt preferred the Fox, and Andrew the Legend shocks. They were dialled in to their respective weights.
Just installed a set of legend Revo A’s on my 2019 CVO Rd. glide, much better ride much better handling I like the fact that you can adjust The rebound if you have a passenger. I’m very happy with the product I’m looking forward to a long ride maybe to Sturgis this year.
I have a 15 Street Glide Special and I’ve been running Ohlins HD159 on the rear and their FKC102 inserts in the front forks. I’ve loved every mile on them once I got the rebound dialed in. It’s a totally different bike from stock and if I ever got another bike changing the suspension would be right behind an exhaust and intake upgrade.

Matt, I have been harping on the same thing for a long time! Harley-Davidson needs to come out with a high performance street glide and road glide model, and that means suspension /handling. I was thinking they might look into chassis/suspension redesign to achieve a much more nimble sportier ride, At least for a touring machine! Who knows, even a mono shock design in a new lighter stiffer frame that saves some weight as well. Your vids are well appreciated my friend!
I traded in my 2013 Ultra Limited for a 2017 Ultra Limited last year and i thought the suspension on the new bike was a complete night and day difference compared to the crappy rear air shocks that were on the 2013. So far i am happy with the suspension on the 2017 and think it's damn near perfect for my style of riding.
Put the Legend Revo-A and the Axeo front on my ‘16 FLHTK about a year ago. Night and day difference! Feels like whole different bike. Highly recommend...
Thanks for the video! I've been researching rear shocks for my 17 SGS, which rides like a brick! I'm 5'9" @ 195. I have over 10K miles on my SGS and absolutely hate the ride quality - it's garbage! I have played with shock adjustments and small tire pressure changes with no luck. I still have the stock/thin seat, which also doesn't help. Don't misunderstand, I really like my bike! I have also installed an Ultra Limited front tire/wheel to get the thicker sidewall up front, which made a noticeable difference, but still not enough for a quality ride over-all. However, after riding a completely stock 18 Ultra Limited for several hours, the difference/better ride quality was almost mind blowing as compared to my bike. I attribute this to the 13 inch shocks and thicker seat. And these are the OEM pieces! I WILL be getting 13 inch shocks and a better seat. I just need to figure out which to buy. Can you recommend a plush solo seat? Which rear shock would you buy again from the two you reviewed here? Thanks from Michigan!
I purchased a 2020 Road Glide. You're correct, I weigh 175 and even with preload all the way down the ride is way to stiff. Looking at Legends for next year. My back is taking a beating. The stock shocks keep the bike at ride height, but that is all they seem to do. I can't see any change adjusting the preload - it doesn't seem to do much. Thank you for the review.
I upgraded my 15 Ultra Limited which had the HD air shocks.... So for me that was a huge difference... I bought the Legend Revo A and loved them... Unfortunately I had one blow out after a month when I hit a big pothole... Legend was awesome and got me a new set right away and now its winter here in WI so not much riding happening here... But I am happy with the feel and with Legend as a company
I put Legend Axeo's on the front late last summer....unbelievable difference, wish that had been my first upgrade to my 2018FLTRU...put a set of Revo's on the rerar can't wait to try them out when the snow goes.
I bought a 18 road glide special, (now before anyone disagrees with me, I raced dirt bikes for a few decades and went through many after market suspension companies) I weigh 155lbs my wife is 100 lbs sopping wet, she feels like this bike rode good stock. I said the suspension was all wrong right from the test ride, it's too stiff in the top 1/3 not stiff enough in the mid stroke and even though I ride hard at 155 lbs I shouldn't be able to blow through the bottom end. Ohlins was hands down the best suspension I raced with so that's where I started on this bike. It handles all the small bumps especially the stutter bumps really well without making the chassis move, the medium bumps are noticeably but soaked up. I've yet to bottom them out and they really help keep the chassis settled down and the tire stuck to the road. But as you said they are more expensive.
Very informative Matt. I normally don’t learn things from people who’s trying too hard and calling themselves PRO, but you are relaxed and very thoughtful to your mods… Reminds me of myself. So at first I bought the legends because it was advertised more and found them first. But after comparing to the Fox after watching your video and many others I think the legend is a rough draft of the FOX. Specially after seeing that FOX includes an owner manual while the legend just showed you videos how to. Then it’s the packaging, FOX wins again. Last is the fact that you don’t need 2 people to calibrate the Fox as there are weights sags instruction on the manual. The legend, you need manpower grip and it’s a 2 people job finding the best 1 inch sag which just throws me off as something that’s street style and not clear. Legend is like the street style on doing business. You never know what you are getting until you get something good and you have to expect the unexpected even though many reviewers are praising they are good including you. But FOX sets the high standard that they are the best. Specially FOX does participate in high speed racing Motorsports and advertising their brand everywhere in gears, clothings now Motorcycle Shocks… imagine these guys are already on top as in quality wise and they have been on top with everything else. So I canceled the Legends suspension from Amazon and bought the FOX from Revzilla. I think with just your videos I’ve made the right choice. There wouldn’t be a wrong choice comparing from stock but between Fox and Legend, I want to be with the guys that’s been in business for longer and the guys that started it all. Kinda like comparing Indian vs Harley. The refined finish and the amount of customization you can do on Harleys and the popularity and the community Harley has built cannot be compared to Indian or any other models. I mean if you want to enjoy your ride and be part of a trend, Harley is the way to go. And same as the shocks. Rather chose FOX.

Thanks Matt for this video. Unless you are the type of rider, who just rides short rides to lunch or beer hangout, this upgrade is necessary. I like that the Legend you can adjust without using the tool. Also good info about front suspension is best on 17 or newer. Good info to know for riders shopping for a used bike. Thanks!
I ride a 07 FXDB with 32k miles on stock suspension. I'm 325#. Front dives a lot and the rear doesn't take big bumps very well, can't tell ya how many times I've bottomed out this suspension to the point i could swear I've bent a wheel. I'm personally looking at upgrading to progressive 490 13 1/2 rear and 2" tube extensions with progressive heavy duty front springs, valve emulators & preload adjusters up front. I ride aggressive as well.
I have to add that I am still running factory stock on my 2017 SGS and they are fine BUT the roads in my area are FAR better than what I see on your videos. I do agree with Andrew that the stock seems to provide a better ride when riding 2 up or loaded down with luggage.

I have a 2012 Street Glide CVO. My ride was rough over the road but didn’t think about it u til I test drove a 2018. Out Legend shocks on the front and then it rode like an 2018. Getting ready to finish the rears before summer. Worth every dollar spent.
These are a must . shocks , a better seat , pipes ,heated grips, better lighting, better windshield, stage two , My 2016 Road Glide Ultra will be done .
For sure, don't get heavy version Legend unless you are a 300lb and ride with passenger with tour pak, I had heavy duty Legend Revo and couldn't get the sag adjustment to work for me. Got it sent back to Legend and they swapped out with softer springs. I am still trying to get them to adjust for my weight (225lb) and getting the best suspension ride. Weather is a bit cold so I will wait until warmer day then try do the final adjustment....can't wait!
I do cross country touring. I have 20k miles experience on each of those exact shocks in 13”. I wouldn’t hesitate to say I feel the fox is a smoother ride.

Yeah I would have agree about hitting small bumps or like rail road crossings, the stock spring makes you leave about an inch off the seat. Now to put this on my dream list of parts.
What about the Legend 14" vs their 13" shocks? Would the ride be even smoother you think? At 6'3" tall and 210lbs the extra inch is no issue for me it its lifting it the extra inch. So again the pros and cons of the 14' over the 13' if any?
Johnny Turbo if you go higher than a 13” you run the likelihood of the axle bolt hitting the exhaust pipe. To run 14’s you have to use a mid length or shorty pipe. OR take a hammer and put a big axle clearance dent on the inside of each pipe.
I think you’re right about the bagger movement leaning towards the performance aspect. After deciding to Stage kit my HO 103 in my 2015 Limited, I’m wanting better suspension and I’m seeing videos from Shawn Smoak and Adam Sandoval about this Legend Revo-A. Matt, ride a 2016 FLTRXS just upgraded front and rear this spring with Legend. Totally different ride and the added lead angle was a huge bonus. Have not dragged footboards since the change. Also loosing the front end dive was huge, actually took me a minute to get used to that.
I just bought the fox shocks. I think they changed their lineup a bit and offer 3 different spring rates now. Standard, Heavy Duty, and Super Heavy Duty. Heavy Duty is from I believe 270lbs to 350lbs range and S.H.D covers above 350lbs. I went with the standard 13" length. So far I am very pleased with these on my 2019 FLHT. I almost went with Russ Wernimont shocks which are probably a smidge better but the price I payed for the Fox shocks was right. Thanks again for the great review.
Hey man I just ordered these yesterday. I’m about 215-220. I have an ultra classic. I ride 80% of the time solo without my tour pack. I will be honest I didn’t look into the load ratings because I assumed they were similar to legends. But after reading that they had 3 with a much tighter load index, I’m worried that going with the standard version may feel a little rough when I do load up a little more. So my question to you is, how much do you weigh or typically ride loaded up? And how have those shocks performed for you?
@@mike_honcho_92 I'm about 220lbs and ride 70% of the time solo. I have the spring preload waaaay lighter than recommended in the manual. Going off that, you will probably be okay with the standard springs because you can always add more preload. I was after maximum comfort. Ultra classic with tour pack is a heavier bike but I think the lightest fox springs have a bit more to give so you are probably okay. I think you will find yourself dialing back preload as you get used to them. Also I found maximum comfort with the rebound knob turned to the most firm...clockwise. It will control the rebound better. But I live in Los Angeles and our roads suck!
I put the 13” legends on my 12’ street glide after getting beat up by the 11” drag specialties that were on it. Right out of the box. They felt Awsome. Smooth. I adjusted them a few days later to the 12” recommended sag with me on the bike. I don’t like it as much. Little rougher. Probably gonna put it back to where it was around 12& 1/4”.

I have a 2015 SG special that I have owned since brand new, I am 49 yrs old about 220lbs and I think the stock suspension is sub par. I have been looking into the Legend rear shocks. I will probably pull the trigger on some within the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the Video Matt
Matt, love your channel! Subbed, of course. The 13" would raise my bike 1", but the factory shocks give me 0" sag. So, once I set the 1" sag on the Legends, my ride height is the same as stock. The 1" additional rode height only applies to when the bike is parked, without me on it. Correct? Am I missing something in this logic?
I'm on a 2018 Road Glide standard, stock suspension and love it. I had a 2011 ultra limited with stock suspension and the 2018 feels like a sport bike compared to the 2011. I plan on upgrading the suspension next year though.
I just got the Legend 13" heavy duty vs the standard Revo-A. I test rode the standard but decided because Australian roads leave a lot to be desired that the heavy was for me. No regrets but I can see and feel that the standards would be more plush for most roads and solo riding.
Also, I agree that HD puts the rougher riding 12" shocks on stock for marketing/sales purposes. Wouldn't a reasonable additional strategy be to offer to swap out the 12" Premiums on the Special models for the 13" Premiums for a nominal fee?
To the people who always ask why does Harley have crappy stock suspension, well the answer is all Oem suspensions are crappy depending on how you ride, meaning if you really like spirited riding you’ll have to upgrade factory suspension on all touring bikes period. If you do the speed limit and not ride the hell out your bike the factory suspension will suffice. Just my .02

Which suspension is better for sportster, Legends or Ohlins ? I am looking at the Ohline 13.78 heavy duty and the legends revo arc 14 inch. They both offer adjustment however which one is better when longevity is concerned.

Due to my getting past 70 yrs but still doing interstate road trips several times a year I recently traded my H-D Street Glide in on a 2018H-D TriGlide (FLHTCUTG)... After a short break in period I really do love the Triglide . I hear other trikers all talk about improving the suspension...... I am 200 lbs and ride solo almost all of the time so I have not experienced any problems with the factory suspension ..... HOWEVER .... I am all about making my ride more comfortable for long rides ..... Do you have any recommendations for TRIGLIDE ......THX MATT !!!

Im only 5'5" & I ended up installing air ride, really helps me when backing and parking especially on uneven grownd flat footed. And when i take off its nice to be able to adjust up to a good comfortable ride hight. Grate video .

I have a 2018 Street Glide CVO with front and rear JRI suspension. Rears are 13 inch single adjustable and front is their adjustable cartridge set up. I have 7k miles on the stock setup and this is a major upgrade and for those who have only upgraded the rears doing the fronts make a major difference. Rears are a 10min job and front was approx a 3 hr job but pretty straight forward.

I’m looking at aftermarket rear shocks for my ‘19 FLTRU and can definitely confirm your statement about how the rear stock shocks ride so much better with two people on board versus solo. Even at 0 preload, my 195lb doesn’t compress the 13” stock shocks for any bit of sag at all. But once my beautiful wife hops on back, the bike rides like a dream and requires only a couple turns of preload to achieve perfection. Finding new shocks that achieve the same effect when I’m riding solo AND two-up will definitely get my attention and money 💰

Matt, I took your advice a year ago and spent the coin for Legend front and back. I’ve been really happy with this setup. BUT! I rode a new, stock RGS yesterday. Wow! I immediately noticed the difference! Thanks for the great videos and recommendations. I know now I can’t ride my RGS without the Legend upgrade.

It is helpful & enjoyable to watch. I check my subs list everyday, hoping to see a newly uploaded video from you, b/c i know it will be interesting & fun to watch. So, about "my" suspension: 2018 CVO SG! One thing I love about the suspension is the adjustable rear. Funny tho, I seem to prefer the plushness of the setting decreased to 0, over the stiff & tight "ride quality" set all the way to max preload. I am 6'2", ~250 pounds. I'm thinking about going BACK, to zero preload. One thing i HATE is how the FRONT slaps around at high speeds if I hit med to large dips in the road. I really could use a steering damper on the front, after 75mph. Waiting on a new offering from GPR for a 2018 CVO SG. They dont have one for this model yet. Any "other" suggestions? My roadmaster comes stock with a fox racing shock and I am able to adjust the air pressure. It rides wonderful!

I have a 2014 SGS. Installed 13 inch Heavy duty Fox shocks (HD matched 2up weight specs). Riding 2 up was great --- never could get the setup "great" for just myself.
Ended up putting the Pro-Action fork kit in my bike and was so impressed I purchased their 13 inch rear shocks to try in place of the Fox. WOW WOW is all I can say. Fox shocks are headed to ebay.
I've got new ohlins 30mm cartridges up front and ohlins hd357 in the rear on a 2014 street glide special. Handles like a Ducati or BMW superior stability and handling at high speeds. Also upgraded to galfer 320mm brake rotors and brembo monoblock calipers in the front and upgraded rear rotor to galfer. Complete package!

I've got Legend cartridges and Revo A shocks on my '14 Road King. The bike simply feels much more planted and stable. My only complaint is that it's firmer than I would prefer (I'm 5'10" and 185 lbs.). I would be willing to try thinner fork oil and lighter springs out back.
I installed 13" Legend REVO-A this weekend on my 2020 RGS, and I have a nice saddlemen seat. New rear shocks should be the first upgrade on a new Harley.

Great video...... I bought the Legend Revo A’s about a year ago for my Ultra. Absolutey love the Legends! Thanks for the videos. I like your presentation style and speaking the truth.
So I'm guessing the only difference is the compression damping between the two, with the Legend having a better compression damping as it handled the smaller bumps better. Both setups should've been recalibrated to the rider at the switch though. Obviously, a preload set incorrectly (which is what was the case after the switch) will result in a less comfortable and less confident ride. That's why Matt preferred the Fox, and Andrew the Legend shocks. They were dialled in to their respective weights.
Just installed a set of legend Revo A’s on my 2019 CVO Rd. glide, much better ride much better handling I like the fact that you can adjust The rebound if you have a passenger. I’m very happy with the product I’m looking forward to a long ride maybe to Sturgis this year.

I have a 15 Street Glide Special and I’ve been running Ohlins HD159 on the rear and their FKC102 inserts in the front forks. I’ve loved every mile on them once I got the rebound dialed in. It’s a totally different bike from stock and if I ever got another bike changing the suspension would be right behind an exhaust and intake upgrade.

Matt, I have been harping on the same thing for a long time! Harley-Davidson needs to come out with a high performance street glide and road glide model, and that means suspension /handling. I was thinking they might look into chassis/suspension redesign to achieve a much more nimble sportier ride, At least for a touring machine! Who knows, even a mono shock design in a new lighter stiffer frame that saves some weight as well. Your vids are well appreciated my friend!
I traded in my 2013 Ultra Limited for a 2017 Ultra Limited last year and i thought the suspension on the new bike was a complete night and day difference compared to the crappy rear air shocks that were on the 2013. So far i am happy with the suspension on the 2017 and think it's damn near perfect for my style of riding.
Put the Legend Revo-A and the Axeo front on my ‘16 FLHTK about a year ago. Night and day difference! Feels like whole different bike. Highly recommend...

Thanks for the video! I've been researching rear shocks for my 17 SGS, which rides like a brick! I'm 5'9" @ 195. I have over 10K miles on my SGS and absolutely hate the ride quality - it's garbage! I have played with shock adjustments and small tire pressure changes with no luck. I still have the stock/thin seat, which also doesn't help. Don't misunderstand, I really like my bike! I have also installed an Ultra Limited front tire/wheel to get the thicker sidewall up front, which made a noticeable difference, but still not enough for a quality ride over-all.
However, after riding a completely stock 18 Ultra Limited for several hours, the difference/better ride quality was almost mind blowing as compared to my bike. I attribute this to the 13 inch shocks and thicker seat. And these are the OEM pieces!
I WILL be getting 13 inch shocks and a better seat. I just need to figure out which to buy.
Can you recommend a plush solo seat?

I purchased a 2020 Road Glide. You're correct, I weigh 175 and even with preload all the way down the ride is way to stiff. Looking at Legends for next year. My back is taking a beating. The stock shocks keep the bike at ride height, but that is all they seem to do. I can't see any change adjusting the preload - it doesn't seem to do much. Thank you for the review.
I upgraded my 15 Ultra Limited which had the HD air shocks.... So for me that was a huge difference... I bought the Legend Revo A and loved them... Unfortunately I had one blow out after a month when I hit a big pothole... Legend was awesome and got me a new set right away and now its winter here in WI so not much riding happening here... But I am happy with the feel and with Legend as a company
I put Legend Axeo's on the front late last summer....unbelievable difference, wish that had been my first upgrade to my 2018FLTRU...put a set of Revo's on the rerar can't wait to try them out when the snow goes.
I bought a 18 road glide special, (now before anyone disagrees with me, I raced dirt bikes for a few decades and went through many after market suspension companies) I weigh 155lbs my wife is 100 lbs sopping wet, she feels like this bike rode good stock. I said the suspension was all wrong right from the test ride, it's too stiff in the top 1/3 not stiff enough in the mid stroke and even though I ride hard at 155 lbs I shouldn't be able to blow through the bottom end. Ohlins was hands down the best suspension I raced with so that's where I started on this bike. It handles all the small bumps especially the stutter bumps really well without making the chassis move, the medium bumps are noticeably but soaked up. I've yet to bottom them out and they really help keep the chassis settled down and the tire stuck to the road. But as you said they are more expensive.
Very informative Matt. I normally don’t learn things from people who’s trying too hard and calling themselves PRO, but you are relaxed and very thoughtful to your mods… Reminds me of myself.
So at first I bought the legends because it was advertised more and found them first. But after comparing to the Fox after watching your video and many others I think the legend is a rough draft of the FOX. Specially after seeing that FOX includes an owner manual while the legend just showed you videos how to. Then it’s the packaging, FOX wins again. Last is the fact that you don’t need 2 people to calibrate the Fox as there are weights sags instruction on the manual. The legend, you need manpower grip and it’s a 2 people job finding the best 1 inch sag which just throws me off as something that’s street style and not clear.
Legend is like the street style on doing business. You never know what you are getting until you get something good and you have to expect the unexpected even though many reviewers are praising they are good including you. But FOX sets the high standard that they are the best. Specially FOX does participate in high speed racing Motorsports and advertising their brand everywhere in gears, clothings now Motorcycle Shocks… imagine these guys are already on top as in quality wise and they have been on top with everything else.
So I canceled the Legends suspension from Amazon and bought the FOX from Revzilla. I think with just your videos I’ve made the right choice. There wouldn’t be a wrong choice comparing from stock but between Fox and Legend, I want to be with the guys that’s been in business for longer and the guys that started it all. Kinda like comparing Indian vs Harley. The refined finish and the amount of customization you can do on Harleys and the popularity and the community Harley has built cannot be compared to Indian or any other models. I mean if you want to enjoy your ride and be part of a trend, Harley is the way to go. And same as the shocks. Rather chose FOX.

Thanks Matt for this video. Unless you are the type of rider, who just rides short rides to lunch or beer hangout, this upgrade is necessary. I like that the Legend you can adjust without using the tool. Also good info about front suspension is best on 17 or newer. Good info to know for riders shopping for a used bike. Thanks!

I ride a 07 FXDB with 32k miles on stock suspension. I'm 325#. Front dives a lot and the rear doesn't take big bumps very well, can't tell ya how many times I've bottomed out this suspension to the point i could swear I've bent a wheel. I'm personally looking at upgrading to progressive 490 13 1/2 rear and 2" tube extensions with progressive heavy duty front springs, valve emulators & preload adjusters up front. I ride aggressive as well.
I have to add that I am still running factory stock on my 2017 SGS and they are fine BUT the roads in my area are FAR better than what I see on your videos. I do agree with Andrew that the stock seems to provide a better ride when riding 2 up or loaded down with luggage.

I have a 2012 Street Glide CVO. My ride was rough over the road but didn’t think about it u til I test drove a 2018. Out Legend shocks on the front and then it rode like an 2018. Getting ready to finish the rears before summer. Worth every dollar spent.
These are a must . shocks , a better seat , pipes ,heated grips, better lighting, better windshield, stage two , My 2016 Road Glide Ultra will be done .

Love the ease of adjusting the Harley premium shock over these. It looks like you have to adjust both every time instead of one knob on one side.
The adjustment knob is for one side only. The other shock is a slave shock and pretty much useless.
For sure, don't get heavy version Legend unless you are a 300lb and ride with passenger with tour pak, I had heavy duty Legend Revo and couldn't get the sag adjustment to work for me. Got it sent back to Legend and they swapped out with softer springs. I am still trying to get them to adjust for my weight (225lb) and getting the best suspension ride. Weather is a bit cold so I will wait until warmer day then try do the final adjustment....can't wait!

I had a good run out of my Progressive 440, now called the 444. My Triumph is about the same weight as Road King
I do cross country touring. I have 20k miles experience on each of those exact shocks in 13”. I wouldn’t hesitate to say I feel the fox is a smoother ride.

I love the vid Matt, it's exactly what I needed to know. My suspension is stock which I now know is a necessary comprise and bone jarring at times lol. Was thinking Progressive until I saw these two brands. Can't wait till the live stream of the new models, I'll be eagerly looking for the notification pop up.
Yeah I would have agree about hitting small bumps or like rail road crossings, the stock spring makes you leave about an inch off the seat. Now to put this on my dream list of parts.
What about the Legend 14" vs their 13" shocks? Would the ride be even smoother you think? At 6'3" tall and 210lbs the extra inch is no issue for me it its lifting it the extra inch.
So again the pros and cons of the 14' over the 13' if any?
Johnny Turbo if you go higher than a 13” you run the likelihood of the axle bolt hitting the exhaust pipe. To run 14’s you have to use a mid length or shorty pipe. OR take a hammer and put a big axle clearance dent on the inside of each pipe.

After deciding to Stage kit my HO 103 in my 2015 Limited, I’m wanting better suspension and I’m seeing videos from Shawn Smoak and Adam Sandoval about this Legend Revo-A. Matt, ride a 2016 FLTRXS just upgraded front and rear this spring with Legend. Totally different ride and the added lead angle was a huge bonus. Have not dragged footboards since the change. Also loosing the front end dive was huge, actually took me a minute to get used to that.
I just bought the fox shocks. I think they changed their lineup a bit and offer 3 different spring rates now. Standard, Heavy Duty, and Super Heavy Duty. Heavy Duty is from I believe 270lbs to 350lbs range and S.H.D covers above 350lbs. I went with the standard 13" length. So far I am very pleased with these on my 2019 FLHT. I almost went with Russ Wernimont shocks which are probably a smidge better but the price I payed for the Fox shocks was right. Thanks again for the great review.
Hey man I just ordered these yesterday. I’m about 215-220. I have an ultra classic. I ride 80% of the time solo without my tour pack. I will be honest I didn’t look into the load ratings because I assumed they were similar to legends. But after reading that they had 3 with a much tighter load index, I’m worried that going with the standard version may feel a little rough when I do load up a little more. So my question to you is, how much do you weigh or typically ride loaded up? And how have those shocks performed for you?
@@mike_honcho_92 I'm about 220lbs and ride 70% of the time solo. I have the spring preload waaaay lighter than recommended in the manual. Going off that, you will probably be okay with the standard springs because you can always add more preload. I was after maximum comfort. Ultra classic with tour pack is a heavier bike but I think the lightest fox springs have a bit more to give so you are probably okay. I think you will find yourself dialing back preload as you get used to them. Also I found maximum comfort with the rebound knob turned to the most firm...clockwise. It will control the rebound better. But I live in Los Angeles and our roads suck!
I put the 13” legends on my 12’ street glide after getting beat up by the 11” drag specialties that were on it. Right out of the box. They felt Awsome. Smooth. I adjusted them a few days later to the 12” recommended sag with me on the bike. I don’t like it as much. Little rougher. Probably gonna put it back to where it was around 12& 1/4”.

I have a 18 gunship grey cvo and I'd like some better rear shocks but after spending 40k I just dont have that right now. Needs to get some bars first. I like yours Matt.
I have the CVO as well, bummer Harley doesn’t partner with one of these suspension companies and just include them on their bikes.
I have a 2015 SG special that I have owned since brand new, I am 49 yrs old about 220lbs and I think the stock suspension is sub par. I have been looking into the Legend rear shocks. I will probably pull the trigger on some within the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the Video Matt

Matt, love your channel! Subbed, of course. The 13" would raise my bike 1", but the factory shocks give me 0" sag. So, once I set the 1" sag on the Legends, my ride height is the same as stock. The 1" additional rode height only applies to when the bike is parked, without me on it. Correct? Am I missing something in this logic?
You’re correct. That’s why Legends are more plush.
I'm on a 2018 Road Glide standard, stock suspension and love it. I had a 2011 ultra limited with stock suspension and the 2018 feels like a sport bike compared to the 2011. I plan on upgrading the suspension next year though.

I just got the Legend 13" heavy duty vs the standard Revo-A. I test rode the standard but decided because Australian roads leave a lot to be desired that the heavy was for me. No regrets but I can see and feel that the standards would be more plush for most roads and solo riding.

Also, I agree that HD puts the rougher riding 12" shocks on stock for marketing/sales purposes. Wouldn't a reasonable additional strategy be to offer to swap out the 12" Premiums on the Special models for the 13" Premiums for a nominal fee?

Same here. I discovered, suspension setting chart is, to say the least, incorrect. I should be running on preload 4, but it is better on 2 or 3 🤷🏼♂️
To the people who always ask why does Harley have crappy stock suspension, well the answer is all Oem suspensions are crappy depending on how you ride, meaning if you really like spirited riding you’ll have to upgrade factory suspension on all touring bikes period. If you do the speed limit and not ride the hell out your bike the factory suspension will suffice. Just my .02

Which suspension is better for sportster, Legends or Ohlins ? I am looking at the Ohline 13.78 heavy duty and the legends revo arc 14 inch. They both offer adjustment however which one is better when longevity is concerned.

Due to my getting past 70 yrs but still doing interstate road trips several times a year I recently traded my H-D Street Glide in on a 2018H-D TriGlide (FLHTCUTG)... After a short break in period I really do love the Triglide . I hear other trikers all talk about improving the suspension...... I am 200 lbs and ride solo almost all of the time so I have not experienced any problems with the factory suspension ..... HOWEVER .... I am all about making my ride more comfortable for long rides ..... Do you have any recommendations for TRIGLIDE ......THX MATT !!!
