    You had me at: having to tear apart the fork, for every adjustment. I'm glad that I found this. Thank you for your time.

    The Legends fork is a "closed cartridge" style. The cartridge is at the top reducing the chance of cavitation bubbles in the valve/shims. This is great for MX bikes with giant jumps and race bikes hitting bumps at super high speed. They are extra work to maintain and have seal drag in the design. The Ohlins shown is an "open cartridge" design. It's easier to adjust and has less seal drag. It's great for 99.9% of all bikes out today. Ohlins makes Closed Cartridge forks, but they are only for limited racing bikes. The shim stack on the Legends is not good. You should always have one super thin and narrow washer on the bottom against the valve. It's job is to lift the shims off the valve just a very small amount. The way Legends has the stack, the large shim will form a hydraulic lock against the valve making initial movement stiff. Same as picking a piece of paper off a desk quickly. You need a bit of room under the paper to let air get in, or it will stick to the desk. Sorry, but the Legends is a good design done poorly.

    I know a couple of guys with Street Glides, both fitted Legends to the rear coz they read on line they were the best... both failed with months of fitment and had to be sent back to the US (from the UK) for repair, I fiited an Ohlins to mine and 100% perfect and transformed my spirted road riding 🙂

      i tried a few bikes on legends and always sucked worse than just the original shocks from HD. now that i put ohlins on it was amazing. But i cant wait to go see Kevin and get front and bike done RIGHT!!!!

    So person like me with no extensive mechanical knowledge but only can feel the performance of ride post to install ohlin suspension, how do i keep adjusting the valve on top without sacrificing the performance once you install the suspension?

    How do the Ohlins compare to GP? I’m leaning towards them for my 21 FXLRS but I’m still in the research phase.

    Ohlins suspensions were born on the race track. I personally won’t ride without them.

    I'm not racing my Harley or stunt riding on the street like an idiot so I am not paying twice the price for adjustments which are set once and done for a street bike. I can see why a race bike would run Ohlins because of changing track conditions but for someone who is looking for a great riding suspension on a budget, Legend is the way to go. I have Legends front and rear and the ride and handling is fantastic. Would Ohlins ride better, probably but i'm not paying twice or three times more to find out. See you out there.

      Legend and Ohlins suspension costs really aren’t that far apart… Ohlins NIX 22 vs Legend Axeo is a difference of $32. Ohlins HD 044 vs Legend REVO ARC is a difference of $119. A total suspension build over $2k either brand with a total delta of $141. Ohlins $2655 vs Legend $2514. Averaged cost between the two makes $2584.50 which makes $141 a percentage differential of less than 6% of total cost. Given the numbers, Ohlins makes more sense.

      And hope it measures correctly, if not you're either tearing it down to pull them out and try again or you're riding with less than optimal setup and negating the return on all the money you just spent.

      What about aggressive street riding? CA has some shit streets.

    • @robertperry1780
      @robertperry1780 Год назад +2

      @@gisoid Every state has shit streets. Like another stated with legends you set the preloaded before you put the forks together. Now from race track to the next you may want to change preload. Why disassemble the forks for each track. If you ride the same roads every day you probably don't want to mess with your forks that much. Tho if you want that ability to change preload easy all the time then go Ohlins. If you what something simple that is better then stock then go Legends.

    • @atreyustratula
      @atreyustratula Год назад +2

      Setting Preload is the reason 90% of riders get a cartage kit for a street bike.. Thats what I'm looking for in a cartage kit and I had no idea legends didn't have external preload adjustment.. Having suspension where you have to remove from the bike just to adjust it is self-defeating. At that point why not just buy a set of springs and heavier oil???
      Oh, and you can't complain about people wanting race ready suspension when they being told they are buying race ready suspension for their bike.. Even if its just for a bar hopper.

    • @BrandonWest87
      @BrandonWest87 9 месяцев назад +1

      Why though? Legend is only $141 less than a comparable front and rear Ohlins setup and with Ohlins, I can dial in my setup within minutes. I’ll ride 4 hours on the slab to hit the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway. If I can stop before jumping on 129 and tune my suspension for best handling of the situation (without taking forks apart to do so), then for $141 I consider that a complete and total win.

    • @robertperry1780
