Very helpful. I have been struggling with my grip for years. Your approach keeps it simple. Love the tee between the thumb and finger on the right hand. 0:06
This video was exactly what I needed. Answered all the questions and uncertainty I was having with my grip. Instantly got me striking the ball more consistently
I used to play golf off a 5 handicap I stopped playing for 20 years when I came back my handicap has shot up to 16, You know what I have been gripping to lightly. Thank you I will soon be down again. will keep you posted. Alan UK
When almost every teacher covers how to grip the club they never mention dish angle or ulnar wrist angle which I just found out about after 30 years is a vital part of how the hands fit on the club in feel ulnar angle and dish angles should be included in how to hold the club. PS tks for all the great advice you have provided in your videos So Helpful
Good video. I needed to see this. One of the basic fundamentals. I have a tendency to take the grip for granted. It's the reason I am a 4 handicap instead of a scratch. Also your setup video was awesome. I had forgotten about taking a last look at the target before starting the club. You're helping me to clean up my fundamentals. By the way I'm 76 yrs old and blind in my left eye so the setup and takeaway are critical in my game.
Sam Snead is supposed to have started the "hold on the grip like you would a bird" Ben Hogan or Jackie Burke depending on who is telling the story, have replied "What Snead didn't say wss the bird is a hawk"
Will a longer left thumb as opposed to a shorter left thumb help keep the heal pad of the left hand from separating from the shaft at the top of the swing
I use a 10 finger grip (probably goes back to what you said at the beginning of video, comfortable when I first picked up club as a kid) but can you talk to the dangers of that grip ? Wondering if some of my swing deficiencies go back to this. I do swing over the top and am an early flipper.
Great video guys. Can i ask about the finger grip in the right hand. Is it gripped in the finger tips, the middle crease or in the bottom crease closest to the hand. Thanks
My biggest prob since starting bk playing after 25 yrs my hands causing all sorts of issues ... wot are ur thoughts on really strong grips ... great vid guys.
So can you have a grip that's too tight? I am a relative beginner and just noticing that lately I get a blister on my right pointer finger on the finger pad just above the palm (I'm right handed). This hadn't happened before so I'm not sure if I'm gripper harder than usual. Also, I have small hands and had switched from the interlocked grip to a baseball grip, but now looking at my alignment of my right thumb, since I have small hands, maybe I should interlock?
Lynda Morgan-Elson blisters are caused by friction. You might be starting with it firm, but it sounds like at some point that right finger is coming loose, then regrouping creating the friction.
What's your view of the more palmy grip that Ben Hogan recommends in his book 'Five Lessons'. His grip balances the club between the soft pad at the bottom of the hand and the forefinger. Hogan was considered the best ball striker ever. Interested in your view of what has changed since then. Love the Channel.
Fingertips are bad and the palm is bad. I wouldn't consider Hogan's a palmy grip at all but rather a good place to be. We see a lot of grips now that way down in the fingers. Fingers are the new palm😄
Just like how much time you guys put into explaining the grip in each of your videos a lot of if not just about all off them is boom bang thank you mamm otherwise very quick
So I just discovered my grip may have been incorrect all along 😀 [Right-handed golfer] When I put the right hand over the left, the left thumb settles into the lifeline of my right hand (so the pad wraps around it rather than sitting directly over it). But it looks like that makes my right hand too far over and down the grip. Here it looks like your right hands are in a 'stronger' and 'shorter' position by comparison. I notice the tips of your left thumbs are slightly further down the grip than the base knuckle (MCP joint) of your right thumb and the thumbs are basically aligned straight down the grip. Whereas my right thumb is further around the shaft than my left, and if I were to form my grip without the club, the tip of the left thumb would be well inside the right palm whereas yours would reach the webbing of the right hand. I hope this makes sense and I am observing your grips correctly. I'd be very willing to fix this because my grip has always felt unstable throughout the swing, especially at impact.

Great video.have asked many instructors why I loose my grip and they never have an answer.
You guys are great.
That's an issue for a lot of golfers. Glad it helped👊
You guys are fantastic instructors !

Love the laundry idea at the top of the swing i can only do it if my left thumb is long enough to support the weight tks great explanation
As a person with relatively short finger, where exactly we should place right thumb and right pointer finger in the club?
Sam Snead is supposed to have started the "hold on the grip like you would a bird" Ben Hogan or Jackie Burke depending on who is telling the story, have replied "What Snead didn't say wss the bird is a hawk"

Damn fellas. Really good stuff. So simple but so powerful. I also need an amg putter cover fairly urgently.

More in the bottom crease closest to the hand👍

Hand size does play a role in the exact look. I wear an XL glove for reference and the tip of my left thumb sits under the base of my right thumb.
@@AthleticMotionGolf Thanks, I'm in the XL to XXL range. I do use jumbo grips which helps.
So the right pad goes on the left thumb. That does feel better than the lifeline of the right hand covering the thumb like a lot of instructors teach.
Correct. That'll allow you to keep more pressure on your left hand.
@@AthleticMotionGolf You teach in a way that I don't have to make major changes to my game just tweaks. Thank you.
@@dancorun6650 Love it!
Hey Mike, is that a whoop I see?
It is, been a big help for sleeping
Shane Lowry removes most of his right hand from the grip in his downswing.
Get a grip on that other iron and PRESS THOSE PANTS, man!
