Hi Kim, I missed your videos and words of encouragement. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer a month ago and lost a very close friend earlier this year. My mental health has been in turmoil and seeing you this morning and listening to your message of magic has lifted my spirits. Photography has always been therapeutic for me and I need to get out with my camera to capture magic in nature. Thanks for your message. I appreciate you and I look forward to seeing your next video. ❤

Kim, I found your video uplifting and encouraging. I am a recent widower just getting to my 70s. After many long and painful dark days as a caregiver for my late wife and then my mother, after surviving the pandemic I decided to get my first digital camera. Even though I have been an analog photographer since my high school days and retiring from the graphic arts and printing industries where my main photographic professional life was mainly concentrated in the studio production of product illustration photography for numerous catalog and magazine concerns, I'm now drawn to the outdoors in search of magic such as yourself. My first love after purchasing my first motorcycle was to ride out to catch sunsets, my first bike is called Sunset Chaser. Now days I have a gig job as a courier which puts me on the road every day and I get to go to places known and unknown.I now carry a camera with me every day. I love to try to capture Red Tail hawks in flight or perched on the many high mast light standards like sentinels doing their hunting from above. There is so much to learn and practice with the operation of now a somewhat burgeoning collection of various cameras from DSLR to now mirrorless that as you stated, something new an different every day which keeps me going. The excitement and joy when one "gets the shot" is an addiction to joy that I crave more and more. Thank you for the inspiration.

Wow! Another inspirational video. I shared this with the many photographers I have on Facebook. Keep them coming! I know very well what you mean by the magic you experience in photography. I'm a birder in Florida. One day I was on a bird walk with so many "talkers" who were quite unsuitable to my objective which was to experience a magical moment with the birds. My birding partner and I decided to remove ourselves quietly from the group and go our own way. We were searching for the Bachman's Sparrow, a tiny bird with a beautiful, lyrical song. Once we got away from the talkers, we could clearly hear him calling so we quietly and slowly, almost meditatively made our way down the path tiptoeing towards his vocalizations. All of a sudden, he flew right up to a branch and began to sing his heart out right in front of us, offering oodles of opportunities for great shots. We held our breaths as we experienced this magical, sacred moment he was giving us. I'll never forget it.

Hello Kim, such a lovely video, thank you. I have continuing mental health and physical health problems and there have been many times when I despaired and wondering if this is all going to pass and I'll eventually come out the other side. It's my photography that has kept me going and for a while I can immerse myself in being out in the country with my camera, no matter what the weather; it makes me feel more alive. It would be so easy to tire out and just give in and there have been times when I've felt this way. So, I go up to the attic and edit some of my photographs and before long those creative moments lift my spirits and I remember clearly what the day was like when I took a photograph. It is so different when you see your own work because it becomes personal, just for you, that special moment and it can't help but add to your life. My camera is here in the livingroom, in its bag, keeking round the corner of the couch having a rest from this afternoon and possibly hoping it's not going to get pelted with rain again tomorrow like a few weeks ago when we had a thunderstorm in Sheffield and the rain drops glistened everywhere, tearing through the air and making everything shine; that was quite a storm and I wouldn't have missed it for anything. The natural world is wonderful, I just wish it hadn't taken me so long to discover it.

The magic for me is Sunlight. Without sunlight things can seem flat and lifeless, those things you talk of are all enhanced by sunlight and all gain an extra dimension, even
people how much better you feel when the light & warmth of sunshine is on your skin. As I sit here the wind gusting a blanket of cloud covering the sky a bit of sunshine
would make it all more bearable 🤗 Enjoyed your video 😌

Thanks Kim, wonderful video and thought provoking.
I've been pondering that simple bible verse
"Be still and know that I am God"
Apart from the spiritual aspect, when we are still, we can see and hear all these magical sights and sounds in our world.
The joy of life can fly by when we rush, but if you're still and quiet, it can reveal so much detail.
And the camera is the best tool to capture these moments.
    Thanks for your wisdom.

I am now finding a peace within my photography. A lot of that is by photographing ' my magical' moments by focusing on what I love to capture. It may be textures, colours of nature that I like. Not what I think others might like. It makes so much difference photographing for my pleasure, not for an audience. Sounds selfish but that's how I see myself making my best work.

Hey Kim, just wanted to quickly say that I'm totally thrilled by your video. In the past few years, I've started a website that focuses on the exact topics you're talking about. That's why I can really relate to your thoughts and feel a strong connection to them. You really manage to express these things much better than I can on my site.
When it comes to photography, I'm right there with you. Years ago, I had the idea of doing "Spiritual Photography", where I first feel the energy and connect to the spirits of a place and then take photos. Even when I'm just walking in the woods with my dog, I usually have a compact camera with me. There's nothing more relaxing for me than capturing the beauty of nature.
I'm super excited about your book!

I often wonder where my life would have turned out without my camera, or the trips out in nature🤔 sometimes I don’t get one decent shot, but often it doesn’t matter that much. Just being out in the nature is so healthy for my mental health. In February we moved from the cost of Bornholm, to the middle on the island close to the forrest, and it has been so overwhelming to follow the nature in the forrest👍🥰

Hi Kim, this video, is a great way to start my day. I also love rain drops, to me they look like diamonds. To me, there are too many missing what life is about, yes we all have stories of life, but we don't need to dwell on them, but rather focus on the beauty in life. You and your videos, words are an inspiration to me, and I am sure others, I thank you for all that you do. I so much agree with you that there is so much "magic" in nature, particularly if we can see with the eyes of our inner child, full of curiosity & wonder. I have a favorite walking trail across the street from my home where I walk & photograph every morning & the scene changes daily. I'm always finding things that I didn't find before & nature has a way of throwing unexpected things at me like yesterday morning when I came upon a buck quietly grazing & then a wild turkey showing up at the same time in the same location to feed & drink out of a bird bath. I love to explore in nature after the rain stops & the sun comes out. There are so many opportunities to capture the magic of a simple raindrop hanging on to the edge of a leaf or pooling up on a flower. The camera can expose the mystery & beauty of nature all around us . All we have to do is look & explore ...with the eyes of a child...I found your pictures amazingly beautiful , as the remind me of some of the photos that I have taken...While watching your videos on RUclips, I am amazed with how much your philosophy of photography & mine are so very similar....The way you see the simple beauty all around us is the way I see it..Continue your good work , sharing your "inner child " with others through photography. I look forward to viewing each video that you do.

What you say is so true, Kim. A few years ago I retired from a very stressful and all-consuming career. I was having difficulty 'unwinding' when one day I was out walking and happened to meet a woman I knew who had her camera with her. We got talking and that chance encounter reignited the passion I once had for photography, which had been lost in my busy life. Today I go out daily with my camera purely for the joy (and magic!) it brings, and that gives me the peace and serenity I need for each day.
Thank you for your continued inspiration Kim.

Rather than an endless sales pitch for new product or another dude telling us "pro secrets" that we've all heard a thousand times you're a reminder of why people love photography in the first place. Dear miss Grant, I live in Philadelphia Pa USA and often struggle to find topics. I find the following helpful. Wherever you are sit still close your eyes and listen and feel what is around you. The wind or sun you feel, the animals, birds or people you hear.
