- Sophie is featured receiving her new soft contact lenses and super-modular lenses in stylish glasses. These options correct for her lack of a natural intraocular lens in each eye (aphakia).
Sophie was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) at age three and at the time this video is produced she is a college freshman. Because of chronic inflammation inside the eyes (uveitis) she developed cataracts in her natural lenses, severe glaucoma, and band keratopathy...which is uncomfortable and vision-threatening calcium build-up on the corneas.

Sophie, your eyes look so big through the lenses. That is a powerful plus prescription. How bad is your vision without glasses? Is your world a blur near and far? Are double digit plus prescriptions rare? You wear contacts with the glasses? But your glasses prescription is +17-+18 and the contacts are +20. You mean you need over 30 diopters plus to see clearly? I have a glasses fetish, and sometimes I will comment on a woman's glasses if they are unusual, or clear plastic frame or high prescription minus or plus. Are aphakia glasses rare? Sometimes people don't understand my fetish and think I'm creeping on them and they complain to some higher up in a business.

I'm sorry, but no. Strong glasses might help with near tasks and reading for him, but these will not help for other distances like telescopic glasses would.
I have optic nerve damage. What options are there out there for reading and computer distance that’s not in a telescope type. I am embarrassed to wear such glasses for cosmetic reasons.
@@laithqaisi2285 Great question! It depends on your level of vision, but there are a few other options, from strong "regular" reading glasses to video magnifiers. If regular glasses don't work for your computer, you need a larger monitor and/or magnification software. Best of Luck! -Dr. Long
My son is 13 years old has optic nerve athropy his vision is 60 over 6 .all glasses in market not good for him only magnifier zoom glasses can be ok but this kind of glasses are heavy and not comfortable for him

Unfortunately, "regular" or normal design glasses will be of limited use.

When someone gets impaired vision for the first time dose the person’s l eyes become all red and dose their vision look cloudy and dose the person feel pain in his or her eyes as well?

I saw a video on RUclips that showed some information about the question I just asked you.
So; I am aphakic in my left eye. So I can’t focus; can I temporary see with glasses like those until I don’t have IoL implant?
Igor, if your other eye sees good, then glasses won't work. It will create too much magnification for the eyes to work together.
