When in Yogyakarta don’t forget to visit Candi Borobudur and Candi Prambanan are one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Also if you want to learn more about the history of Central Java Kingdom (Yogyakarta and Solo/Surakarta), you can visit Museum Ulen Sentalu. Or if you want to see the beauty of the nature , you can visit Mount Merapi Lava Tour by jeep. It’s quite interesting.
We were so sad we didn't visit Candi Borobudur and Candi Prambanan, but we were running out of time with our visas. We plan to return and definitely won't miss them next time. We love learning about the countries we visit, so we'll also add the museum to our list. And we're volcano junkies after climbing Mount Ijen and Mount Bromo, so we'll add Mount Merapi to the list as well! Thank you for the recommendations! 🥰
If you go to Indonesia, you must visit the city of Cirebon, West Java, especially in East Cirebon. There is a sub-district called Ciledug. There you can walk around to enjoy unique types of food typical of Cirebon. There is also the Ciledug square, East Cirebon. To visit Ciledug Cirebon, you can take a Kreta from SENEN Station, Central Jakarta, immediately get off at CILEDUG CIREBON Station. Hotels and accommodation are available...@
@@mikeandashley Yes, Cirebon has a royal palace of descendants of kings. Distance from Bandung city is 140 km to Cirebon city. From Jakarta, 250 km, move a little. From Cirebon city, there is Kuningan Regency, West Java. It has the highest mountain in West Java. The name of the mountain is CEREMAI. Very good views and lots of waterfalls. ..!
@@mikeandashley yes, Mount Ceremai is 3083 meters high, the distance from the city of Cirebon is 50 km, there you can see very beautiful views of the mountains, beautiful villages and beautiful waterfalls in Kuningan Regency, West Java
I wish you could stay a lil' bit longer here in Indonesia and experience the cultures, the nature and of course the cuisine of each province in Indonesia. I recommend you to visit Lombok island, Labuan Bajo ( wow it's heavenly beautiful ! Padar is my favorite island which has 3 beaches with different colors pink, white, & black that you can see from the top of island), Sumba island, and Raja Ampat. Please keep it your mind and promise me don't die before you visit it all. Thank you so much for coming to Indonesia.
We wish we could stay longer as well. Indonesia captured our hearts and we’ll never be the same. We already have plans to return in the next few months and I (Ashley) am already counting down the days. Thank you for the recommendations! All of the places you mentioned are on our bucket list. ❤️🥰
@@mikeandashley for sure? Wow that's great. I can't wait to see your journey here in Indonesia. Hopefully you guys could produce so many youtube videos which I can watch while having my food. You guys are such a kind-hearted bule. Really love your positivity. Terima kasih Mike and Ashley. I hope you guys can speak in Bahasa fluently so it will get you easier to interact with the locals.
That's our plan! We were thinking of heading to India next, but we've decided to hold off so we can explore more of Indonesia. Two months just wasn't enough time. And thank you so much! We would love to learn more Bahasa. We enjoy speaking with locals (even if we say things wrong and aren't confident about what we're saying). It's just so much more fun.
I think the duration of this video is too short, I like your attitude when visiting each place here. I hope you are always successful and have a blessed day, I'm from Jogja I will follow your RUclips channel
Ok, noted! We try to make the videos the perfect length for the activities planned so no one gets bored! But we hope to have longer videos someday as well. Maybe if we are able to visit Jogja again to see the beautiful temples, we can make a longer video! Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching our adventure! 🥰
Need to mention this to you, the cappucino cincau is cappucino with grass jelly, the one you guys mention in video the fermented rise is called tape. CMIIW Love your video btw
We were just talking about this yesterday about how I (Ashley) got confused, and we were wondering what the drink with fermented rice was actually called. Thanks for letting us know! We'll have to try it. And thanks so much! We're glad you enjoyed the video. 🥰
@@mikeandashley hope u enjoy your visit in Indonesia. Oh yeah need to clear something up, there is two kind of tape 1. Fermented cassava ( u can find this on ice dessert ) 2. Fermented rice ( sometime people eat this with glutinous rice, or in the drink at angkringan)
@@mikeandashley glad i can help, if u want to try the cassava one its easier to find, most city have it, u can search for es campur (mixed ice) it's usualy contain tape there
1:52, The egg is similar, but different color, white egg in the Philippines and it's called, Balut. If you want to say goodbye in Indonesian, it's selamat tinggal, same as Malay.
I am sure both of you are getting more familiarized with the taste of Indonesian foodies . And it was so amazing that you can manage their spicy levels. You are for sure ready to be Indonesian. And we will most welcome both of you 🙂😍
3:05 The lady at the gudeg restaurant "Bu Slamet" tried to tell you about the photo of an elderly woman, who (I'm guessing here because this particular part of her explanation was cut off from your video) appears to be Mrs. Slamet, the original owner lady who opened this restaurant back in 1946 (maybe she is the mother of the current owner lady ?). The lady said the photo was taken on site, at this very restaurant by Mr. Sigit Pramono, a famous Indonesian photographer. She then showed you the angle from which the photo was taken, as you can recognize the similar patterns of the wall tiles in the photo and the wall tiles at the restaurant. She said the woman in the photo was 104 years old at the time the photo was taken. It could be that Mr. Pramono once visited and ate gudeg at her restaurant and he liked it so much that he wanted to show his appreciation by photographing the elder owner lady (Mrs. Slamet, the mother of the current owner lady) and then giving her the photo. The current lady was so proud and felt very honoured that a famous photographer took her mother's photo and then gave the photo to her as a gift.
Wow! That’s an incredible story. She was so sweet. We had a lovely time connecting with her, even though we could only infer so much! Thank you for explaining this to us. ☺️🙏
Kopi joss.. aww.. great old days when we did not know much, we did not have much, but we just felt great.. one glass coffee and hours great time, with playing cards and chess board

Aw, thank you so much for helping us translate! Do you know what the nice lady at the gudeg shop was saying when we were next to the picture frame? We had no idea what she was trying to say, but wished we could have understood her better. 😅
20:16 she said “pedas” which you know as spicy, but her accent is Javanese, so she pronounces it like “pedes” not “pedas”. Same as sambal, Javanese accent pronounces it as “sambel”. 😀
We stopped in Singapore on our way to Malaysia! Our visa expired in Indonesia and we’d already been there for 60 days. We plan to return as we have much more of Java to see, as well as other islands like Sumatra and Sulawesi. Plus more of the tropical islands. It’s such a massive country!
Aww we wish Mike had done our itinerary for JogJa! 😅 We stayed around Malioboro area and didn’t explore much more of the city.. We did really enjoy the city and explored the outskirts like Borobudur and stuff but think we definitely have to come back! Great vlog guys! 😍

She was such a lovely lady! We wish we could communicate with her better so we could understand more of what she was saying, but she was a ray of sunshine regardless. 🥰❤️
yo bro, if you have time and willing to travel a little bit further and finding hidden gems i suggest you go to Pulau Derawan dan Maratua (in East Kalimantan), or Raja Ampat (in Papua)

"Guys, go to my favorite restaurant, Mediterranea Restaurant by Kamil, you won't regret it... it's the most delicious thing I've eaten in Yogyakarta!! and my three months in Java."
Oh nice! Sorry, I misunderstood and thought you were also visiting! But it’s your home! That’s awesome. That waterfall looks epic! I wish we went to see it. 😭 Now water will fall from our eyes instead.
Don't always say selamat siang ora selamat pagi if you leave someone or others, just say DADAH😂,it's sounds more casual, but if you meet someone you can say selamat pagi or selamat siang😅😂😂😂
@@mikeandashley it's okay we are really happy because you try to learn our language, we're so welcome, let's share each other, and the next city you can go to Bandung☺
We would have loved to, but we didn’t have enough time! Our visa was running out and we wanted to make it to Bandung and Jakarta. 😭 We feel we made a huge mistake though. We will be back to visit it for sure!
Thanks! We always try to learn a little bit of the language in every country we visit. Indonesia was certainly the easiest so far! And so many people were willing to help us. ☺️
This is nice, really. Anyway, generally there are 2 types of Gudeg out there. One is the so called dry one, just like the one you tried on this video. Another one is the one that is a bit more wet. The wetter one is the one where you can get hints of savory instead of just sweet. If im not mistaken, Gudeg Permata is one of many places where you can find the savory one.

This was a joy to watch! Your guide Eko did an amazing job showing you around and sharing the history. I kinda wish I encountered him when I visited Yogyakarta, but loved my visit there anyway. Shared some of my experiences on my channel. Looking forward to more of your videos!
Thanks for watching! Yea, Jogja is a great city and Eko was a wonderful companion. I wish everyone could be lucky and meet him. Indonesian people are amazing.
Mungkin ini konten yang paling seru di antara yang lainnya.
Aw, thank you so much! ☺️🙏
haloooo....Terimakasih yabsudah berkunjung ke Indonesia🙂✌
Hello. 👋 Thank you so much! ☺️
love all your videos in Indonesia
Thank you so much! Indonesia is a dream to visit and a wonder to film! We would like to explore so much more here.
Thanks Mike nd Ashley, vlog at Jogya kerenn👍 anjoyed. 🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
Thanks so much! We're glad you enjoyed the video. 🥰
@@mikeandashley My pleasure. Can’t wait to see the next video! ♥️♥️
We’ll see you Sunday then! 🫶
Wellcome to Indonesia 🇮🇩❤
Thank you! 🫰🫰
Ah, we'd never heard of Cirebon and we're sad we missed it. Next time though! Thank you for the recommendation. 🙏
Very good views and lots of waterfalls. ..!
We love mountains and waterfalls! Can’t wait to be able to explore it again!
@@mikeandashley yes, Mount Ceremai is 3083 meters high, the distance from the city of Cirebon is 50 km, there you can see very beautiful views of the mountains, beautiful villages and beautiful waterfalls in Kuningan Regency, West Java
That sounds amazing! 😍
Love Jogjakarta hospitality ❤
The hospitality in Indonesia has been heartwarming! ❤️
Yogyakarta is my favourite city. OMG i cant wait for this summer and visit again Yogyakarta
Yogyakarta is really incredible. We would love to have had more time there.
Yogyakarta, magical town
It really is! We hope to be able to stay longer next time and make it out to the temples. We still have a lot to see and do in Indonesia!
Jangan Lupa berkunjung ke kota bogor asley .... Bogor indah ada kebun raya bogor dekat dengan istana president .....
Botanical gardens are beautiful! It’s so easy to get lost amongst the flowers! We’ll add it to our list for our next adventure. 🤗
Semoga betah di indonesia bro , you amazing
Aw, thank you! We felt very welcome everywhere we’ve been in Indonesia. The people are so kind and lovely! It’s like a second home. ☺️
Always curious what to see next journey n vlogs in indonesia.. ashley u have a 10.000 watts smile.. 😅
Thank you so much! 😄 We're working on editing our Bandung vlog now and will have it posted tomorrow. 🥰
Need to mention this to you, the cappucino cincau is cappucino with grass jelly, the one you guys mention in video the fermented rise is called tape. CMIIW
Love your video btw
We were just talking about this yesterday about how I (Ashley) got confused, and we were wondering what the drink with fermented rice was actually called. Thanks for letting us know! We'll have to try it.
And thanks so much! We're glad you enjoyed the video. 🥰
@@mikeandashley hope u enjoy your visit in Indonesia.
Oh yeah need to clear something up, there is two kind of tape
1. Fermented cassava ( u can find this on ice dessert )
2. Fermented rice ( sometime people eat this with glutinous rice, or in the drink at angkringan)
Ooh! We like cassava!
Thanks so much for providing us with this info. We learn so much from the comment section! ☺️🙏
@@mikeandashley glad i can help, if u want to try the cassava one its easier to find, most city have it, u can search for es campur (mixed ice) it's usualy contain tape there
Ok, awesome! We’ll be on the lookout and try it when we find it. ☺️
1:52, The egg is similar, but different color, white egg in the Philippines and it's called, Balut. If you want to say goodbye in Indonesian, it's selamat tinggal, same as Malay.
Oh man, I’ve had balut in Vietnam. It wasn’t bad, but idk if I’d try it again haha. I mean, I probably would… but yea, it got in my head for sure! 😅😂
Really? No way, wow okay.
Hi Mike ans Ashley, i'm your new sub instantly, your video is really good, complete, even more adventurous, keep going.
Aw, thank you so much! 🥰🥰 We’re so happy you enjoyed our video! Thanks for following along! 🫶
That's where my grandfather was buried at the YOGYAKARTA palace, bro, I miss him hahaha ☺️
Aw, sorry to hear that. We miss our grandparents too. 😢❤️
I am sure both of you are getting more familiarized with the taste of Indonesian foodies . And it was so amazing that you can manage their spicy levels. You are for sure ready to be Indonesian. And we will most welcome both of you 🙂😍
Haha, thank you! Indonesian food surprised us, we had no idea what to expect! And yes, spice is LIFE for us. We were born for Southeast Asian food!
Wow, so glad you love Indonesian cusine. I love your videos so much !!!
Hello mike and ashley❤
Please come and visit banda naira😊
We would love to one day! 🥰 What is the best way to get there?
Happy Mike@Asley trips in yogyakarta❤❤❤❤
We LOVED Yogyakarta! Such a great place. 😊
The vidio, sound, information all of these all the component very good.
Aw, thank you so much! ☺️ We really tried our best to make it fun and informative. 🤗
have watched all your videos, I am very impressed, I hope you visit other tourist attractions in Indonesia
Kopi joss.. aww.. great old days when we did not know much, we did not have much, but we just felt great.. one glass coffee and hours great time, with playing cards and chess board
That honestly sounds like such a lovely time. ☺️
@@mikeandashley it was a great time, and now I am thinking how Lik Man's coffee stall survived with customers like us. Thank you for visiting Jogja and hope you have a safe and joyful time in Jogja ❤️
Thank you so much. We had a wonderful time in Jogja. We wish we could have stayed longer. ❤️
There has 2 typical gudeg, dry and wet. You should try abooth of them
Oh interesting! Is what we had dry? I’d have to imagine it is. It was really tasty! 😋
Enak banget is Very good.. and the gudeg seller said at the end Sampai jumpa lagi is see you again
Aw, thank you so much for helping us translate!
Do you know what the nice lady at the gudeg shop was saying when we were next to the picture frame? We had no idea what she was trying to say, but wished we could have understood her better. 😅
Yang aku belum pernah rasakan adalah kopi campur arang 🤩👍
Oh wow! It was a cool experience. Watching them make it was my favorite part. ☺️🙏
20:16 she said “pedas” which you know as spicy, but her accent is Javanese, so she pronounces it like “pedes” not “pedas”. Same as sambal, Javanese accent pronounces it as “sambel”. 😀
Ah, that's good to know! Thank you. 😊
This was fantastic. Planning to visit next month, so its useful. Do visit Sri Lanka as part of your Asian tour!
Thank you! We’re happy you enjoyed it! We are planning to visit Sri Lanka, we just haven’t locked in any dates yet. ☺️🫶 Thanks for watching!
Ashleys so cute when she laughs. Glad you enjoyed Jogja. Just came back from there..... 😊 u guys are cool, im going to subscribe now
Aw, thank you so much! We had a great time in Jogja and can't wait to return the next time we're in Indonesia. 🥰
Where are you guys at now?
We stopped in Singapore on our way to Malaysia! Our visa expired in Indonesia and we’d already been there for 60 days.
We plan to return as we have much more of Java to see, as well as other islands like Sumatra and Sulawesi. Plus more of the tropical islands. It’s such a massive country!
Wish u guys the best .. Have a good trip. See u back soon in indo .. I hope 😊
Thank you! And you will. Indonesia has stolen our hearts. And we simply must visit more of the wonderful places and people there. 🥰🙏
Aww we wish Mike had done our itinerary for JogJa! 😅
We stayed around Malioboro area and didn’t explore much more of the city..
We did really enjoy the city and explored the outskirts like Borobudur and stuff but think we definitely have to come back!
Great vlog guys! 😍
Haha, if I’d done your itinerary, you’d have never made it to Borobudur! 😂
It is such a good vibe there. We can’t wait to see your video, it will be epic for sure. 🫶🫰
@@mikeandashley haha thanks guys! We’re looking forward to our whole Indonesia series which will be starting super soon! 😁
We’re waiting for it too! 🤗
Sering ke Indonesia makan nasi gudeg enak and nikmat
We're so jealous! We would love to visit Indonesia again. There are so many places to explore, but we will definitely return at some point. The food is some of our favorite in the world. 🥰🤗
Amazing❤
Thanks so much! We're glad you enjoyed it. 🥰
Terimakasih kalian sangat ramah kepada nenek penjual gudeg ❤
She was such a lovely lady! We wish we could communicate with her better so we could understand more of what she was saying, but she was a ray of sunshine regardless. 🥰❤️
yo bro, if you have time and willing to travel a little bit further and finding hidden gems i suggest you go to Pulau Derawan dan Maratua (in East Kalimantan), or Raja Ampat (in Papua)
Raja Ampat is Ashley’s dream! We will visit sometime for sure. 🤗
please try toko kopi tuku, the founder of es kopi gula aren (palm sugar coffee) if you visit Jakarta again
Thanks for the recommendation! We'll try it out the next time we're in Jakarta. 😊
Cincau is grass jelly
If you want to be more local, just say "makasih" instead "terima kasih", that's still polite
Thanks for letting us know! 😊
As a muslim, I like how ashley is covering the upper body with her scarf. You should do a batik class in jogja. Enjoy your trip and stay safe.
Aw, thank you. 🥰 We always do our best to be respectful of other cultures when we travel. We gain so much gratitude by learning about the customs and traditions from around the world. The people of Indonesia are one of a kind. ☺️🥰
And she looks so elegant.
im very very enjoy to watch youre vlogs guys ,very interesting . come on lets try JCO 😂
Thank you so much! We love donuts! We're so sad we missed JCO, but we'll be back soon and won't make the same mistake. 😅❤️
omg i think you all still in 🇮🇩 ,im so sorry 😂
Haha, not your fault! We're super behind on editing. 😅
"Guys, go to my favorite restaurant, Mediterranea Restaurant by Kamil, you won't regret it... it's the most delicious thing I've eaten in Yogyakarta!! and my three months in Java."
Mmmm, we do love Mediterranean food! 😋😋 We’ll have to check it out next time we swing by!
finally to Indonesia too 🎉
Nice! Where are you exploring first?
My house is in Cianjur, bro. When I go here, there is the Citambur waterfall, check Google Map, bro
Good to know! It’s hard to learn the local colloquial terms when all you have is google translate! 😅
Thanks for watching! ☺️🙏
@@mikeandashley it's okay we are really happy because you try to learn our language, we're so welcome, let's share each other, and the next city you can go to Bandung☺
We always try to learn what we can! Thanks so much. The next vlog will be from Bandung! ☺️ I’m working on it now! 🙏
goes to candi borobudur guys❤❤❤
We would have loved to, but we didn’t have enough time! Our visa was running out and we wanted to make it to Bandung and Jakarta. 😭 We feel we made a huge mistake though. We will be back to visit it for sure!
Try to learn a little word indonesian, like good morning = selamat pagi, how much = berapa harganya, spicy = pedas
Thanks for the tip! We would love to try the less sweet version. 😊
@mikeandashley its a pleasure. And another trip to Yogyakarta is always necesarry whenever possible 😁.
100% we loved it there and didn’t even get to see the big historic sites, so we’ll be back for sure. Just don’t know when. 😩
