I love the muscle car look of the car. The 599 is sort of a forgotten Ferrari but i love the curvy fendors and slight combination of a muscle car design. I'd take this car over it's replacement, the Berlinetta, because the Berlinetta has that hatch back rear end..on a Ferrari?? What is that all about?
What a way of meeting people and get to see their talent. At first was reluctant being on youtube, but getting to do this has brought me into the houses of some very special people. You are one of them. Life; isn't it wonderful!!! Keep up the good work. Hope You Are Having A Splendid Day!!!!
What an incredibly civilized monster this 599XX is! It'll be interesting to see what particular 599XX research items will actually make it into production. The "manetinno" is evolving quite nicely with more options, hence, more control. It is surprising, however, that Ferrari is not implementing/testing KERS-technology (2010 Formula-1) in this project. All-in-all a superb example of Modena's ingenuity.
Actually Lotus invented the monocoque in F1 back in 1962. They were the first with this design which later all the other teams copied. In 1967 they pioneered the engine as a stressed member of the chassis with the Lotus-Cosworth 49. McLaren actually made the first all carbon fibre monocoque in F1 with their 1981 MP4, which was incredibly rigid, and saved De Cesaris life during all his crashes that season. Actually Auto Union had midengined racecars in the 1930's. Type C and D.
So I did 2 laps around Nurburgring and my best time was! 07:27:054... I lost traction of the rear on many occations so that would have slowed me down a bit but other than that IT WAS HARD! You realy need to know how to drive well to control this beast. (I have a top 100 time out of 650,000 people) Time to work out why it beat my fully tuned Mercadies CLK GTR...
Well, the Miller 91 was a very innovative and advanced American racecar. So advanced in the 1920's that Bugatti had one studied. But the 1920's was a very long time ago. Also Chaparral were the first ones to introduce wings in racing. Although Stirling Moss had discovered the airbrakes of his Mercedes 300SLR could be applied to increase grip in fast corners (he stumbled upon downforce before anybody else in the 50äs) Jim Hall was the first one to try actual wings in the 60's. Lately however..
@Janusha Also, Auto Union was the first to use the middle engine setup. Lamborghini was first to build a transverse middle engine setup. Ferrari might have been the first production vehicle with paddleshift but Chrysler was the first with clutchless manual trans. in their product cars. The Lotus GT1 the first legit carbon fiber car made in 1998. Not to make a big deal about America (I prefer not to) but Chaparral already used alot of the things done to this XX series Ferrari nearly 40 years ago.
Wasn't keen on the 599, but this version is far more desirable. I can't wait for the 458 Scuderia Challenge Stradale or whatever it'll be called. I may have a long wait there though.
@eekpapahbundar They're two different types of cars. The 599 is a front engine, v12, tourer (the "base" model is anyways) and the 458 Italia is a mid engine, v8 sports car.
@execk2 as with the FXX cars, I think i'm right in saying Ferrari stores the 599XX cars at Fiorano when they're not being used. you won't get to take it home.
@borysek01 Ferrari are on top of their game right now. And you should see the pictures of the road going version of this, which is called the 599 GTO that have been posted on msn car news today...
@shugknight412 Think you might be a bit confused, the pitch of the engine may be something like a honda in this vid because he doesnt push it to redline, but the tone is something so pure that you would never hear it from any japanese car, with the possible exception of the new lexus supercar.
@aieljose yeah maybe its' nothing but still the Zonda F has beaten the Zonda on every track it was trying was it now the nurburgring, top gear track, several other tracks. Ah not to forget I heard that the clutch of the enzo gets fried after 3 fast starts! LOL
just read a thing about it. when exiting a corner, you can give it 100% throttle, but it will only give you that until it knows it wont spin out. itll gradually give you power..................ultimate engineering
@Janusha yes the miura, by a long margin, is the first mid-rear engined 2 seater or performance based layout but i think you should stop baiting them to improve and continue to laugh behind the scenes
@ASCEND2ETERNITY I ended up beating the time I set with the merc by about 17 seconds but the ferrari was untuned and not upgraded in any way so Ill give it another go when I buy the thing. First car to buy is Ferrari 250 GTO
Ferrari please make a street legal version. I love the look of the car. It looks amazing and it looks like it has amazing performance as well. I want it.
The sound it makes is simply epic!
Love the sound of this Ferrrari 599XX!
one of the best looking cars currently made. too bad it'll never see the streets. :(
What a BRUTAL 599!!! Sounds astonishing.

Agreed this is a true master piece ,
Thank you very much for Sharing!!!!!

Looks like Ferrari's version of the LF-A. It's about time, not just another engine in a light body deal. Just awesome.
Lat year, I was side by side wih this beast and its insane! Great Job Steve!
Nothing exhilirates like a Ferrari.
The dealership closest to me had a 599xx in there one day and I felt so privileged to see it. I still want to see a Fxx and the new evolutione

@YTman28 This is a development car for ferrari. Suppose to be the testbed for all the R&D ferrari is going to be adding to their future cars.
it seems to be Vallelunga (Italy)
@sup3rcars well they might deliver it there..all i know is that with the FXX they stored it at the ferrari test track, you couldnt take it home.
Saw one of these today at Kelly moss motorsports
@bentleyv8t no the FXX is the track version of the Enzo this is the track version of the 599 gtb

@Janusha Just curious, what is the first XX program? there was the ???, the FXX, and the 599XX...
@AdangerousRETARD yup!
the FXX and this 599XX are truly beasts from Ferrari...
Steve Sutcliffe does awesome reviews...
They are, the road version is coming this summer.

What a great car!!
Cool looking, I'll wait for the 1/18 Die-Cast metal model xD
@hybrid214 well, i can't wait to see what lies in the future for the next ferrari generation
Vallelunga!!!
@wordreet
I was replying to a comment thanks!
How can I get that awesome stereo installed in my Prius?!
Wasn't keen on the 599, but this version is far more desirable. I can't wait for the 458 Scuderia Challenge Stradale or whatever it'll be called. I may have a long wait there though.
Yes Jeremy
God i love this car!!! This is my favorite Ferrari
@eekpapahbundar They're two different types of cars. The 599 is a front engine, v12, tourer (the "base" model is anyways) and the 458 Italia is a mid engine, v8 sports car.
There is a cup holder on the front bumber at 0:57 :P
Did you not get the part about it being a testbed for future Ferrari cars?
@powematt i know. but the 599 had the same engine as the Enzo. So does this have the FXX engine?
@execk2 as with the FXX cars, I think i'm right in saying Ferrari stores the 599XX cars at Fiorano when they're not being used. you won't get to take it home.
@JayRicci7891 still it is a total redesigned body and another engine.
@borysek01

Now I understand why my favorite music genre is name Hi-Tech.

@MASTERNCS well, it's january now. is everything ok?!
@aieljose yeah maybe its' nothing but still the Zonda F has beaten the Zonda on every track it was trying was it now the nurburgring, top gear track, several other tracks. Ah not to forget I heard that the clutch of the enzo gets fried after 3 fast starts! LOL
will it blend?
awesome car.
It's a raw beast.
Which circuit is this?
@upercalm it should be faster than an enzo. it is a track car with 10 years of newer technology.
@HuangYiChao I agree
And to think that Stefan Bellof's record was done on the older, longer version of the track.
just stunning
the most exciting Ferrari ever
Where can I get that helmet, please?
what's that sound at 3:27 ?
just read a thing about it. when exiting a corner, you can give it 100% throttle, but it will only give you that until it knows it wont spin out. itll gradually give you power..................ultimate engineering
@Aztech355 They said that in the video. ;-)
@missingethics which DLC?
What is that on 0:57? A cup holder? :)
What BBS' are those? LM-Rs?
@carreracaballo i like it more then the enzo fxx also. agreed,
@Janusha yes the miura, by a long margin, is the first mid-rear engined 2 seater or performance based layout but i think you should stop baiting them to improve and continue to laugh behind the scenes
For a 12-cylinder, it sounds fantastic.
@buttnut1080 They will, but it takes time to test and all that.
is this the same as in the FXX?
@mrahman0205 to bad the 599 came out before the skyline. and it 550 and 575 older brother
@canabeenzo actually they have been producing the LFA for the last 10 years, so they didn't copy the GTR. But i get your point :)
which one is better 599 or 458 italian?
incredible sound ! like a boing 737-800 !
Depends on what you're testing..
@khunopie so he stares the whole day at it in his garage?
@ASCEND2ETERNITY I ended up beating the time I set with the merc by about 17 seconds but the ferrari was untuned and not upgraded in any way so Ill give it another go when I buy the thing. First car to buy is Ferrari 250 GTO
Is that the bloke from Wheeler Dealers?
@cassoles are you crazy this car is faster than any koegnigsegg or zonda (around a track)
which one is better? 599 or 458 italian?
Steve Sutcliffe is the man
oh my god it looks like a corvette and a viper had a baby that was raised by an italian.. i think im in love
Ferrari please make a street legal version. I love the look of the car. It looks amazing and it looks like it has amazing performance as well. I want it.
@tom91722 You forgot a comma. What I wonder, though, who is mouth?
Autocar justs reviews all the cars that others don't... and they go 2 Ferrari's test tracks to test them... man, i want his job!!!
@JayRicci7891 Right on brother.
@ablair37 There were 400 of the Enzo made :)
this car does a faster time around the ferrari test track then a enzo and faster around the nurburgring track than a f1 car.... amazing
