I'm sorry, but even after 4 years and cars like the F12 and the Aventador, this remains one of the most spectacular cars I've ever seen or heard (DAT EXHAUST NOTE).
You said it! This car possesses a grace and presence that a lot of newer cars seem to be lacking. To me, this car is timeless and a beautiful continuation of Ferrari's 500 series (550M, 575M)!
I still prefer the f430-599gto/gallardo murcielago ero more than the current era
This engine is the closest V12 to the Enzo's
@@ertus306 The f430 - oh yeah! And that sound - still absolutely one of a kind! Phenomenal piece of art that's for sure.
And now after 14 years the sentiment holds true
The world was better when Chris Harris made videos like this....
He still does but on his own channel now...
Calyn45
Thanks bud I know. I have faith in him again ;)
@@MikeyFFA500 and banned from Ferrari Chris Harris is ! !
Wow . . . as of March 2020
Mr Harris will NO LONGER
receive cars from Ferrari to review and test drive new model Ferrari's.
ALSO, this applies to official Ferrari dealerships.
Apparently this is a strong rumor that is fact.
and this was written 6 years ago :)
NO ONE reviews cars as well as Chris Harris does. He has so much polish, is so in-depth, and he can really drive too. He is an asset to the car enthusiast community.
Thanks, Chris! Love your reviews.
I love Chris Harris's reviews! None of those ridiculous metaphors that only exist to make journalists feel clever and imaginative. His reviews equal a bit of drama mixed with cold hard facts...along with lots of delicious sliding. Chris Harris 4 life!
This guy can drive.
12 years later, still better looking than anything new Ferrari is putting out.
12 years and 7 months and your sentiment holds firm
Savage driver with excellent communication skills.
I don't know how the hell I missed this video. Best driving I've ever seen from Chris. Great stuff!
I absolutely LOVE the downshifting of this car. It would be awesome to have one of these and also a 599XX for the track. They are amazing vehicles
"and what a price tag it is, at nearly $300,000" good ol days lol
ruckfules181 Now it's almost 3 times that
Um, he said 300,000 POUNDS. That's over 400 thousand dollars
And it's about 1 million Dollars today..
bimmer fatboy Anthony basically said that exact same thing.
The British pay a lot more taxes than Americans. VAT is 20% plus CO2 taxes. In Spain, this car pays the full 14.5% CO2 tax for registration. With the 21% Spanish VAT, you end up paying 35.5 % in taxes and probably the same in UK. So in America you will possible pay 25-30% less.
2019 and still loving the gto and chris 😌
What I like the most about your reviews is that you cover all the basis, all the things a review should include which other seem to miss a lot of times. Truly Consistent work!
One of the best looking Ferrari ever made)
I´m a Porsche fan, but after viewing this fantastic footage some doubts came out.
Mr. Harris is one of the best motor journalists of the moment with an objective perspective and very fine driving.
Keep doing the good work Evo Magazine!
Car was furiously expensive new, but its worth more than double today. Should have bought one.
You don't choose to buy the 599 GTO. You're chosen to buy one.
razgrizghost1 Nope, that's the 599 XX. Seen alot of 599 GTO's for sale at independent dealerships.
PorscheSweden so for how much do they go nowadays?
about 790.000 euro in Italy
billie bleach Over double i would say, a soild investment for the future. It's surely going to be a collector car in 10-20 years costing millions.
Chris ! you're by far the best auto journalist today. You speak well, like your lingo and you stay down to earth on most comments you make.
Cheers mate and keep up the good work.
PS- Never Lift !
that is some seriously brilliant camera angles you got there! great camera work
Chris sure does like to paint this strip of road with all kinds of different rubber!
One fav ‘Chris Harris’ videos ever with one of the best cars ever!!!
Best Video of this car I have seen so far; Great camera set-up;
Awesome job!!!! Chris you ROCK #FTW
2:52 to 3:55 - Best part. Those downshifts put a big smile on my face.
The popping sounds on the downshift are phenomenal!!!!
A magnificent V12 naturally aspirated Ferrari.
I WAS lucky enough to see the same one twice in very late 2019 and the noise....the NOISE is something else.
Seeing and hearing IS something else when it comes to the 599 GTO.
Nothing like re-discovering a bloody great car. People are going back to the 599 GTO.
THE hype on the LaFerrari and the 812 Superfast including the 812's Spyder model has died down. Biggest surprise of ALL. . .The TDF !
People are dumping them and wanting a 599 GTO.
I love the small details from the regular 599, the Rear diffuser, front spliter, the top of the car.... oh and the Stalion is black.. not chrome... well done, such a wonderful car. This is another classic just like the 288GTO.
2:45 - 4:08 YES! thats exactly what we want! no stupid music, just chris driving that amazing car with that brutal sound :)
This is the very first time I've heard a car reviewer mention the compression ratio's in an engine... Talking about a detailed review, this guy clearly takes his job seriously. :D
Still the best sounding Ferrari IMHO even better than the Laferrari just that screaming v12 wow
Enzo?
Enzo is amazing but remember the GTO had an evolution of the Enzo engine which sounded almost f1 like
It seems you are all forgetting the F50, which wails like a banshee! Frankly, I'm starting to get bored by these shrieking, raspy V12s that started with the 599 GTO and have been in every V12 Ferrari ever since.
Nothing beats the sound of an F355 . N.O.T.H.I.N.G ( if we aren't talking only about v12s of course )
@@flyingphoenix113 well I love it!
This is the first time I've seen a Ferrari driven so hard on a review and so well, great review and driving.
Well it’s appreciated in value like crazy so yeah would have been well worth it at the time
Chris Harris is under utilized on the current series of Top Gear. The producers should but more emphasis on the cars and less on the humor. And give this chap more camera time!
I love seeing cars driven hard on roads so much better than on a track. Even if it's a closed road. Some of those tracking shots were awesome!
7:17 "They're just on fire at the moment"... literally.
Yeah I caught that too I was wondering if he was being sarcastic for a moment lol
And now the car is worth 921.834 USD! Damn lucky if you got one of these at launch.
Chris Harris is the best reviewer in my opinion. He's to the point, and practical. This is a much more "capable" review than Jeremy Clarkson's.
Great vid and now in full HD, EVO just gets better and better
Evo Magazine you are truly amazing. Love your stuff!
I would be more than willing to spend an hour or so DAILY seeing Chris reviewing sports cars ... GREAT JOB MAN !!!!
This thing is beautiful. The side profile actually reminds me a lot of the front end of a Vette C6, and the back end of a Supra.
I love this car
Ferrari 599 GTO is one of my favourite cars ever and I'm just super obsessed with this I love it so so so soooooo much
And that 6.0 V12 sounds super good and beautiful and unmistakably Italian
Enzo and Dino Ferrari if you are watching this I want to say:
Graze mille signore!!! 👌👌😉😉🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Great car and great video. Love the Chris Harris reviews.
muuch more informative, intelligent, and unbiased then top gear. Great review
@someonesperson I couldn't agree with you more. I found him through Autocar, then he disappeared. After a little research, I found him here and I couldn't be happier. He gives you the information you need as a car enthusiast. Not the typical "This car is phenomenal and I love it. It performs great and just listen to that sound!" crap you get on 99% of car shows when they talk about exotics or sports cars. Chris FTW!
After 14 years this video still looks and feels fresh. Good job for producers 👏
I love this car
It's amazing to see what power is considered bombastic even 7 years ago. The new 812 is push almost 800hp to the rear wheels through the essentially the same engine. I guess with better and better chassis comes more and more power. What a wonderful time we are living in
Although power doesn't mean everything!
Still my dream car... such an amazing sound
And he thought 300,000 was a lot for one then
They're well over million these days
Best sounding downshifts ever, beautiful car, great review as always by Chris!
chris harris always a pleasure to watch the man at work!
I know this has nothing to do with this video, but just realized something. This car is ridiculously fast, and its 0-125 kph is 9.8 seconds. The Bugatti SS does it in 4.8 seconds. It just boggles my mind that that's even possible.
This guy is an EXCELLENT auto reviewer! Well done
Yeah I think and the regular 599 gtb are still my favourite Ferrari road cars. The intake noise is phenomenal.
599 is just a modern work of art 😍🎨
the over-run is an amazing sound
chris is such a good driver and reviewer :) thumbs up all the way
Awesome stuff Chris!!! You're the reason why i subbed in the first place!
I absolutely love the design... when the GTB came out i thought "ou man thats a nice car!", but now there is the GTO... and it just looks miles better :)
Seems that the people across the pond really know how to enjoy their cars! Perhaps one day I'll make it over there and try it out for myself. Until then I'll just have to focus on avoiding the potholes here in the US :(
Very nice review. Never saw your reviews before. I will check out more from here.
That machine is amazing. The 599 is the only Ferrari I have actually really liked for a long time and I have a feeling this GTO version will be remembered for a long time.
that cockpit cam is so awesome to watch...
Wheres the HD quality! Quality review by Chris...top man...top car
This is a great display of why Ferraris are special. Especially cars from 95-2012ish. Just special in every single way and they seem to have lost their way. Unfortunate
Nice review man! I've just subscribed to your channel because of this video.
if i had that car and someone spilled coffe on that leather... not good
Great camerawork starting at 3:20, thx guys!
I almost cried when he started the engine and revved it... wow
Well done!! This is my favorite Ferrari and you made me want it even more ha ha!
fantastic review, chris harris is excellent (and completely bonkers to drive like that on a regular road)
The camera angle is sick! Love it.
@M5IAN There's really only 1 company that makes supercar looks like how they use to. And that's Pagani.
@Gday2u not any more...thanks evo....we're so lucky to be able to simply go to youtube and get excellent materials....fantastic
@Mexesrecords You wont loose power. aircon is switched off (but A/C led indicator still on) on full load. True about the tunnels.
That engine note alone is seriously well worth $450,000.
Love the shot from the window frame!
probably my favourite sounding ferrari! sound is on par with the porsche gt even.
i get goosebumps everytime i hear the bellow or even look at that 6.0L V12 masterpiece....
Between the two the 599 has the exterior side slits in the front fenders and the rear brake ducts behind the doors. The rear ends are a little different with the 599 having single tail lamps. They really start to differ once you get to the details. The 612 is a 4 seater where the 599 is a GT two seater car, And The 599 has an 6L Enzo derived V12 whereas the 612 uses a version of the 5.7L V12 found in the 575.
@Airlessarab In a way I agree. I liked that in his review he wasn't just ooing and aweing over the car saying it's the best thing ever. Every Ferrari is apparently. I'm glad this guy was able to compare it to other Ferrari's and actually have some gripes. Albeit gripes that may be easily overlooked by most but still areas that Ferrari can potentially improve upon.
I agree Airlessarab, the reviewer does appear to have experience with cars like these and I'm glad he had an atypical opinion.
Can't really compare... Jeremy is more an entertainer, Chris is a reviewer and both are brilliant at what they do
Crazy Chris 🤣 imagine being a passenger with him driving, I think my heart would fail 🤣
Words can not describe how much I'd want to be Chris Harris when he's driving this thing...
Great review. I'm subbing because of this vid
ive seen this car today... i couldnt believe my eyes... its astonishing looking
Sensational! A new reason to keep playing Powerball!
these Ferrari GTO videos have been amazing!!
The 458 does sound very video gamey. I do think the F430 / Scuderia is a genuine exhaust note. A baritone howl. Hence why they probably felt the need to conjure a higher pitched sound from the 458's same engine..
That noise tho...,
what is the conceptual difference between GTO and GTB ? Are they built for different kind of usage?
Is this the video that influenced Ferrari's decision to never allow Chris Harris to review their cars again?? I don't care what Ferrari says... This review was very well done!
I like Chris Harris very honest reviewer.
The GTO is lightyears ahead of the GTB and looks and sounds great mind you I'm biased as in my view it looks very much like a Toyota Supra less the wing.
Exceptional car and a very nice review, if you ignore his thrashing the engine right after starting it. Thank God it's a press car.
Is this available on Griogio Silverstone?
8:26,I love this car, and nothing is so fucking beautiful sound as the 599 GTO
Reports that the 12C has a 80db limit. Make this even more valuable
I dribbled and drooled.. And Mr Harris absolutely rules.
F12 gto coming along anytime soon ?
Probably not
Liam Mcgrath My Dealer just told me that the F12 VS (high performance version) is going to be announced this September!!!!
Sean Lynch Yep, F12 Speciale is in the pipes!
Nope. TDF only, which really is a shame. Now we have the 812 superfast
Those rims... I'm in love.
6:22 "HGT E pack 599 does it (shifts gears) in 80 seconds" lmao
Chris Harris absolutely does the best reviews.
Oh baby that sound makes me shiver
