I did a 6:56 in this car on Nordschleife in Assetto Corsa tonight. I know it's not real life, but I still feel pretty proud of myself! No way I'd have the guts to drive that hard in real life on a track with no runoff.
The driver was being cautious, so many turns, the Fox compression, Adenaur, etc. He was driving a very expensive car, was under contract to bring it home ;). Plus, this wasn't the Evo version of the car released later by Ferrari, with improved aero, a DRS system, better mechanical grip, etc. which would have smashed the 599XX record. I think all these cars, Zonda R, 599 Evo, etc. all fall short of their true potential because they are investments first and foremost...best way to see cars at the Nords limit is the racing series that the track hosts each year.
scottyo64 it’s about as street legal as it gets? Sure it has a cage and stuff ect. But has aircon, cruise control, smooth gear shifts, electronics ect. Probably safer than most cars on the road. Sure you can’t get over large bumps and it would be hard on your ass to sit in for a long time, but it’s perfectly legal
Even in Gran Turismo, this track was difficult. Hard to memorize all the turns and not carry too much speed on the turns and holding the correct line. Awesome car, and awesome video.
Zonda R was faster because it is 20hp more powerful, 300kg lighter and, most importantly, the zonda lapped the ring in June, whereas the 599 did this in April, with colder temperatures :) Btw i love the Zonda r too
You gotta love a company that's basically spent their entire career developing better/faster/more maneuverable racing machines that are gorgeous works of art as well as "movable sculpture". What a lovely sound too they make.

+Ko-wing wong It's impressive, but not superhuman. It takes confidence in your knowledge and trust of the vehicle and it's condition, and knowledge of the track like the back of your hand. I don't think the end of the straight, and those couple high speed turns are the most difficult part of the 'Ring by far.
tormen76 There are a lot of things that do not come into consideration in GT (they probably do but you will not be able to feel them). I hear you on the lap times, but there is still a considerable difference.
It is excellent. BUT the minimum speed through the Kesselchen corner at 3:22 is only less than 225 kph, where the LFA does 247 kph! Obviously, the 599XX with 730 PS kills the LFA (standard 560 PS, Nurburgring Package 571 PS) on the straights, but in the corners, the LFA is still extremely competitive (and road legal, unlike the 599XX). The LFA actually used OEM street tires while doing 7:14.64.
12zaf1 I seriously doubt that, despite the advanced aero tricks, such as the twin fans in the trunk, which evacuate air from the underbody diffuser panel of the 599XX. Both cars are approx. just as heavy, both highly advanced in every way, including aero. And he definitely wasn't just cruising. He was pushing very hard.
you seriously doubt what? 599xx can withstand higher lateral g than lfa? it is just basic physics: assuming same fluid dynamics (not the case here) for ease, 599xx has over 100kg weight advantage (roughly 1500kg vs 1600). 599xx with slick tyres can withold close to 2g lateral probably, whereas lfa with road tyres more like 1.3g, with luck. that he was not pushing hard it is obvious from the vid. not sure if it was in purpose or desimone is not good enough (inspite of his racing past).
12zaf1 The LFA Nurburgring is ~10-17 kg lighter and has about 30 % more downforce than the regular LFA, which has a curb weight of 1,480 kg (as stated at lexus.com), making the LFA Nurburgring's curb weight 1,463-1,470 kg. When you look at the extremely low weight of the engine, the dimensions of the car, and the special attention to low weight, 1,463-1,470 kg are REASONABLE figures. According to ferrari.com, the original 599 GTB (with a substantially bigger and heavier 6 liter engine) had a curb weight of 1,688 kg and a dry weight of 1,579 kg (a difference of 109 kg). The lighter 599 GTO (the road legal version of the 599XX) has a curb weight of 1,605 kg and a dry weight of 1,495 kg (a difference of 110 kg). Ferrari state the 599XX's dry weight at 1,345 kg, making the curb weight approximately 1,455 kg - only ~8-15 kg lighter than the LFA Nurburgring's. Also, I don't think the Ferrari 599XX, which is over 6 % (73 mm) taller than the LFA Nurburgring, can beat the ~440 mm centre of gravity height (36.4% of the car's LOW height) of the LFA Nurburgring. On slicks, despite the massive 159 PS delta, I think the LFA Nurburgring would get approximately to the middle between the 599XX's 6:58.16 and the LFA Nurburgring's 7:14.64, surely to less than 7:10.00. Another point is that the 599XX's fans stop working at 155 mph (249 km/h), because the car thinks it is going in a straight line at such speed and needs no extra downforce.
Great lap. This guy actually seemed to know the track quite well. His lines were spot on most the time and he did an excellent job on entry to a lot of turns that have very difficult ones to manage. But man what a bumpy track, he looked like a paint can in a mixer.
Isaiah Israel You can easily tell this is a racing type chassis and suspension instead of a TRUE production, road legal car. I agree, he drove the track very well. Comparing this car's suspension action on the Nordschleife to a real road car, we can see a big difference of the road car's smoothness. The FXX, having a complete carbon fiber tub with an aluminum back half chassis = race car. I'm sure we won't see any of these (30 total) cars still drivable with 80,000 miles on them if anyone were silly enough to try. --- Haha! Great description!
Is the Radical SR8LM not a production car? It's road legal isn't it? More than 50 have been sold (which disqualified Hennessey Venom IIRC). That car set a time of 6:48 which is faster than this and the 918
Amazing car. But it shouldn't have the name production car anywhere near it. Yes I understand it says "Production Derived", but this is a full blown race car. I've seen many people compare this to the McLaren P1 or Porsche 918. Those two are production cars, and are apple to oranges.
I think this and Zond R are the only ring fast lap videos I saw where the start and finish time are actually taken on the same line. If you watch 918, GT2, Huracan, Aventador etc. you see the finish time is taken on the white painted line that is visible just a few meters after the last corner, way before the time starting line (amount to about a 4 sec difference). On the white line this would have been a 6.54 (and 6.43 for the Zonda).
tire and suspensions developement. give this 599xx the same modern tires and suspension from modern cars and the difference will be way smaller. also the time is bloody amazing, because the 599xx does not have a giant wing on the back like a modern GT2rs MR etc. So the 599xx with its big wing would probabaly rival even the modern records if its equipped with modern tires and suspension.@@DieselDave

Personally, I believe the fact that it wasn't until an AWD, hybrid 800hp mid engined world beater clocked just about the exact same lap time a half decade later says more about this car than the other.....
+Martin Freund maybe it was to keep the grip while accelerating (using same gear potentially spinning at the rpms at that angle). Or to keep the balance steady for a clean entry and fast exit. Or maybe he did it purposefully to piss the hater's off after he got a world record ;)
+gozinta82 There's no reason to do that to keep the grip, the 599XX is supposed to have F1 grade traction control, like all of the Ferrari's modern track-day cars.
Martin Freund Hmm, I didn't know that. I thought most race cars lacked traction control. Cars can still spin with traction controlled enabled, I just figured he did that for better traction (shrug)
tolikechicken The GTR Nismo is not usable every day, its rock hard. Also it used slick tyres, and was for sure (like every manufacturer) cheated, tricked and optimized for this particularly track.
Gianniz27 I meant in terms of utilities like you can fit your kids in the back and have space in the boot. It isn't like most other super cars on those terms.
tolikechicken Yes, but for example nowadays Ferraris are very comfortable, even La Ferrari is, if set to comfort mode. The GTR Nismo knows only the rock hard setup.
Gianniz27 If you want a more comfortable ride (relatively) that will still humiliate lots (there are a few exceptions) of supercars on the track and drag strip, then get the regular GT-R.
e1cabral It's based on the Enzo, a TRUE production car but I agree with you that it does not qualify to be considered a true production car since it was never sold to be driven on public roads. -- Long live the Opels! Two of my cousins had new Opel GTs and I loved riding around in them as a kid. I was first introduced to Led Zeppelin while riding in one. LOL
love the sound of that Ferrari !#mega. That dude is a Wheelman 👍 One thing for sure is that the Ferrari's time makes Nino's 7:22 on a stock R1 even way more impressive! 👊
+srinitaaigaura The Porsche 918 raced the 20,6 km version, the Ferrari 599XX the 20,83 km. For the 20,6 km distance the Ferrari needed 6:45.5 min ... but well, the XX is not street legal.
+srinitaaigaura The 599FXX did the 20.6 km in 6 mins 54 sec mark as in minute 7:10 of the video. So no, the Zonda R is still faster with 6 mins 47 sec mark.
Sert Man he's saying, the 599xx is a racecar from a factory, technically making it a production car. only 3 years later, the 918 is a production car and beats it, but its not a racecar.
Robert Jung Well, the Porsche 918's time is on the 20,600 meter track this is the full lap, total 20,832 m. You can add 5 seconds to the Porsche time for the full lap.
..... We have to consider that with the time this FERRACCI gains without clutch and gear lever ..... at least we have to add 7 seconds, compared to cars as Viper, Ford Gt, Corvette ........
Engraçado, não ta na lista dos TOP 100 do site oficial. O último tempo é do Audi RS4 com 7:58. Será que é 7:59s ou trapaceou e o resultado foi excluído?!
It's actually 60, 180, 300 and 360 KM/H! the ones written in bold. (check the lineas, theres just a problem with pixelation that makes it look like different numbers)
I wish people understood that the record being set is for Production cars. Performance production cars, such as the ZR1, ACR Viper, and GT-R make laps around the classic Nordschleife track not to post an official track time, but as bragging rights towards other companies. That's what this video is about. It's about a production Ferrari being the first to crack the 7 minute barrier, as was the Cadillac CTS-V being the first sedan to crack the 8 minute barrier. It's a manufacturer thing.
Just checked the record that is set by street legal/production car record, this 20,8km layout is: 6mins 48 seconds set by Radical SR LM back in 2009 Non-series/non-road-legal vehicles record: 6mins 47seconds with Pagani Zonda R back in 2010

The zr1 comes off the showroom floor with race tires on it so they can use them in 'stock' tests. A dealership owner told me this and said everyone who buys the car changes the tires right away because it's like ice in the rain.

i guess the setup on this car is quite hard. the car is jumping all over the track.
7:11 did he had to misshift?
+Martin Freund maybe it was to keep the grip while accelerating (using same gear potentially spinning at the rpms at that angle). Or to keep the balance steady for a clean entry and fast exit. Or maybe he did it purposefully to piss the hater's off after he got a world record ;)
+gozinta82 There's no reason to do that to keep the grip, the 599XX is supposed to have F1 grade traction control, like all of the Ferrari's modern track-day cars.
Martin Freund
Hmm, I didn't know that. I thought most race cars lacked traction control. Cars can still spin with traction controlled enabled, I just figured he did that for better traction (shrug)
gozinta82 Hmm... I say it's a driver's mistake.
Martin Freund
No way to be certain, unless you are the driver :) Maybe!
GTR Nismo edition did it in 7:08 (I think) :D
You also get an everyday usable car with the GTR though, haha.
tolikechicken The GTR Nismo is not usable every day, its rock hard.
Love these Nurburgring hotlap onboards, and a screaming V12 does it best
What a engine noise, its just pure brilliance.
azz che manico il pilota, chiaro anche la macchina c'è
lol check out speedo it goes 120 150 100 240 lmao bit of a confused car i think
This "thing" in the middle should mean 180. It is hard to read due to the bad image quality :D
Italians exsggerate
If this car is derived from a production car, my Opel Kadett C is a DTM!!!
e1cabral It's based on the Enzo, a TRUE production car but I agree with you that it does not qualify to be considered a true production car since it was never sold to be driven on public roads. -- Long live the Opels! Two of my cousins had new Opel GTs and I loved riding around in them as a kid. I was first introduced to Led Zeppelin while riding in one. LOL
Fair point. This is the base of one of the rarest cars, completely rebuild for the track.
Hardly a production car at this point ...
It's not based on a Enzo ... It's based on 599 GTO logic nah ?
love the sound of that Ferrari !#mega.
That dude is a Wheelman 👍 One thing for sure is that the Ferrari's time makes Nino's 7:22 on a stock R1 even way more impressive! 👊
That's the level of driving you need to be at if you want to become a testdriver at Ferrari...
3:40 , wow, i didnt believe it was possible for the sun to shine on the ring!
i always see people putting nissan gtr on ferrari videos how can one even put nissan beside ferrari
Because the Nissan GT-R is a supercar killer lol.
no its just a nissan
You clearly don't know about cars. GT-R beats the Aventador... GT-R = Supercar slayer.
gtr is a japanease car that only someone who couldint afford a ferrari lambo etc would buy your opinion is irrelevant
And can you afford a Ferrari/Lambo? Your statement is stupid.
Don't talk shit to a car when you can't even afford a Mustang.
And then the Porsche 918, a road car, broke it.
+srinitaaigaura Years later
+Fernweh Yeah, but all the extra grafitti on the track meant less grip :P
+srinitaaigaura The Porsche 918 raced the 20,6 km version, the Ferrari 599XX the 20,83 km. For the 20,6 km distance the Ferrari needed 6:45.5 min ... but well, the XX is not street legal.
+woifiii Would that make it faster than the Zonda R then?
+srinitaaigaura The 599FXX did the 20.6 km in 6 mins 54 sec mark as in minute 7:10 of the video. So no, the Zonda R is still faster with 6 mins 47 sec mark.
This was done like 3 years ago lmao the 918 Spyder didn't exist then
A 'regular' production car whips it, great!
Sert Man
he's saying, the 599xx is a racecar from a factory, technically making it a production car.
only 3 years later, the 918 is a production car and beats it, but its not a racecar.
Robert Jung Well, the Porsche 918's time is on the 20,600 meter track this is the full lap, total 20,832 m. You can add 5 seconds to the Porsche time for the full lap.
This was done 5 years ago by the Radical SR8 LM on non slick tyres (time 6:48)..................
Stéphane BOYER The Radical SR8 LM is not a production derived car. It is a full blown kit car /race car.
Still amazed even after all these time
early upshift before the line slightly tarnishes a superb run
120 km 150 km 100km ? 200km yeah
Stig is the best
It says actually 180 km/h but being a low resolution video, I understand you're mistaken for that.
..... We have to consider that with the time this FERRACCI gains without clutch and gear lever ..... at least we have to add 7 seconds, compared to cars as Viper, Ford Gt, Corvette ........
Slow
so i guess youre faster?
Mr. Krabs sarcasm
Mr. Krabs nope but 918 (road legal) is 1 second faster =D
HeaD Thus is progress. That said, an 83 Porsche 956 has been around the Ring in under 6 minuets.
Ethanmeister I believe it was around 6:30 or so
This track would take forever to learn. And that car is beautiful. Also being featured on "ultimate factories".
Thanks.
Some prospective owners, are even reporting that the P1 started production, or deliveries today.
its so cool to see two racetracks in one
all road tests on the Ring are rolling starts.. every record set by a factory vehicle is done with a rolling start, usually multiple laps per attempt
@brennendesocken it's because of the videos resolution. actually theres 180 in the middle
Engraçado, não ta na lista dos TOP 100 do site oficial. O último tempo é do Audi RS4 com 7:58. Será que é 7:59s ou trapaceou e o resultado foi excluído?!
He made it look so easy. 😲
6:34 why didnt he change gear? i counted 5 gears out of 6, please tell me if im wrong
Just checked the record that is set by street legal/production car record, this 20,8km layout is: 6mins 48 seconds
set by Radical SR LM back in 2009
Non-series/non-road-legal vehicles record: 6mins 47seconds
with Pagani Zonda R back in 2010
fantastic lap
599XX is a beautiful freaking car, well the 599 GTO is a beautiful car period, nicer than the GTB for sure, but thanks for the video, it's awesome. I still can't get over that 33 second flat out part
This experience would make a person understand their purpose in the universe!
From 6:25 to 6:55 - - wicked fast! What a rush!
@zellarsDD777 You right.......but how many times will you see the zonda R on the streets??
The zr1 comes off the showroom floor with race tires on it so they can use them in 'stock' tests. A dealership owner told me this and said everyone who buys the car changes the tires right away because it's like ice in the rain.
Holy shit!!! 20.832 km in 6:58....that's a average of 179414 km/h
Respect :)
What's with the speedo reading 100 when it's between 150 and 210kmph ?
Hello, can anyone tell me why are there writing on the road at nurburging? i dont know a lot about tracks but i know that there arent writing on the roads of the track.
Absolutely on the ragged edge the whole time. He dragged that car around the ring by the scruff of it's neck. Amazing driver.
@petrucci14 doesn't it to the ring in 6:47.8 or something like that? if it would be more than 10 sec :)
what about pagani zonda r. 6:47. or is it in another category?
The long straight b4 the end is what it looked like for me heading from Ft Lauderdale to Miami in my modified Vanquish Volante to go party with my friends who were in town
Thats Ferrari baby... pure speed !!
That was awesome. That is a great track. Great drive! I am jealous. I have raced it many times virtually and it is a tough track even when I am sitting on my couch.
great driving like a sunday drive in the country no problem love the engine sound like music !
Is this a stock car right out of the showroom and on stock street tires? What do they mean by "production derived"?
It's based on the Ferrari Enzo.
@CNR4806 All depends on where you come from, you read it as you want to read though. Where the circuit is, Germany, it´s written like this.
In the into it says track length 20,832km by the way, that would be an incredible feat!
Man what a car !!! Almost looked like it was limited to 300kmh/186mph on the final straight.
Radical still on top ... 7 years ... somebody better beat them soon :)
@Dowdproductions I don't think the Zonda R has comes with a road-legal exhaust system. Therefore it's not actually road legal either.
Why is there 100 on the tachometer, instead of 200? I mean, I noticed the same thing in Gran Turismo 5, but I thought it was graphics...
@EliteMadHornet at what minute is the ring
The Ferrari didn’t set a record, the driver did! Please give credit.
@chevv08baby
It says clearly in the description that the car was 'production-derived'.... meaning it's a souped up version of the production car.
Dalla tv non sembrano essere sul filo come invece si capisce da questa bellissima inquadratura.
