I want people to appreciate that Gyökeres was playing for Coventry in the Championship only a couple of years ago. Like, what were Championship center halves supposed to do against this Swedish freak? I imagine that for Coventry fans, having him at the club was something of a short-lived fever dream.
Fun fact - Czechia teams now having 27 matches in the European leagues with 20 Wins - 4 Draws and 3 Losses and everybody still putting them on the bottom of every league (not sure if this is exact but I am too lazy to check :D)
9-2 is crazy. The day after, there was a French league game between Nice and Saint Etienne and that turned into a rout also: 8-0 for Nice at home. They were 6-0 up after 37 minutes! 😮
Less than 12 hours before 9-2, Gwangju beat Yokohama F. Marinos 7-3 in the AFC Champions League. Marinos then lost a J1 League match 6-2 to Sanfrecce Hiroshima yesterday. Marinos was last season's AFC CL and J1 League runners-up.
We sacked our coach after that 9-2 loss, and lost against slaven belupo in the league 4-1 yesterday. Soooo yeaaaah, not easy being a dinamo fan right now. Also lost to hajduk split at home 0-1 before the bayern game ...
The Monaco Barca match made Ter Stegen turn off his instagram comments. He played the ball to Garcia in a position where he had to foul Minamino and wasnt impressing with his actual goalkeeping.
Stuttgart was way better than the 3:1 scoreline suggests. The first half was firmly in Stuttgarts grasp and the third goal was Casual real Madrid shananigsns
That Stuttgart comment is wild after them losing three of their most important players in the last transfer window. But yeah, their trainer stayed and is pretty good.
I have a couple teams I’m rooting for in the Champions League. Lucky me, Young Boys is one of them. (Fun fact: their women’s team…is just called Young Boys Women.)
I wouldn't say Italy is in a bad state... Yeh it's not as great as it used to be, but Inter reached the CL finals 2 seasons ago and just last season Fiorentina and Atalanta reached an European final. Financially most, if not all, Italian clubs will "lose" to English clubs.
Yep, they got way more money. Thus, it's harder to compete, as it is for every other league (Barcelona is overflowing with debt just to stay competitive in europe). On the field, however, if he says Italian calcio is struggling, he clearly did not watch: Inter played great against four times champions in a row City, Atalanta played amazing against arsenal and were very unlucky not to win, same for bologna which by the way sucks this year, thay lost their manager and best player and held their own against shaktar which always plays champions league. Juventus was just good, and the only loss was Milan, and it is not a surprise, considering we suck a** this year and we will probably be trashed by inter in the derby (rightfully so). So I wouldn't say Italian calcio is struggling, I would say every league apart from a couple of either giant clubs or state owned clubs is struggling to keep up with the money league.
Hey Zealand, could you share what website you're viewing all these results and xg etc. on? Could be a really helpful tool for some of us when we're on our own also trying to figure this stuff out.
Monaco, Benfica hoping for top 8? Maaaybe Benfica but still, there will be massive clubs from top 4 leagues missing that mathematically, why would Benfica set that as a target? Sparta Prague won with only 29% possessions and an even 11-11 shot count so it doesn’t seem like such a big domination but the goals are what matters so fair play to them despite me still being bitter over our qualifying tie. Maybe the EL starting and us getting results there will smooth it over lol. As for the Monaco game, it was really a miscommunication between Ter Stegen and Garcia, Ter Stegen goes for the pass while Garcia is coming towards him but Garcia hesitates allowing the attacker to steal the ball and then it s not entirely clear what happens, I guess Garcia sort of put his arm around him while tripping on the attacker s legs and they both fall down, absolutely weird play but no reason to even touch the opponent there so early in the match. The Bayern match had 3 disallowed goals, imagine if it was 12-2 instead lol. And nah, Thursday was definitely the most boring day of the 3, absolutely disagree there
Ah geez, such results are rare but not unexpected from Bayern. With all the problems Bayern has, the club teaches a certain mentality that most of the time leads to success and if it doesnt they freely let put their anger against the next few opponents. This didnt win the Liga last year. Theyre pissed.
tbf I was watching Brugge-Dortmund, 0-3 is a really undeserved scoreline, Brugge was the better team for 70 minutes, just got hit by the difference of quality in the substitutes between the 2 teams. But still as a Gent fan, I'm happy Dortmund won.
You guys don’t need the league coefficient? Personally as a FCSB fan I support all Romanian teams in Europe because of the coefficient and honestly some national pride and all but I get the rivalries
@@edi0157 Yea in Europe we need the coefficient, so if Bruges win, I can accept that it's good for the coefficient, even if I don't like them winning. But at the same time, Bruges winning means that they get more money, and they're already the richest team in Belgium. So even if it hurts the coefficient, I want to see Bruges lose so they'd get less money and also because it brings me joy.
@@LuffyL-ch1ku Fair enough, on the other side if they win they also get more matches to play to tire their players which can be an advantage too to be fair
@@edi0157 true, Gent just beat them, so my sunday is perfect. But Gent plays conference league for example and we have a bigger chance of going far in the conference league than Bruges in the UCL. Anderlecht in Europa League the same thing.
At this point Sparta success just gets me wondering about what could have been lol (my team FCSB/Steaua Bucharest almost eliminated them in UCL Q3 by almost coming back from 3-0 down to make it 3-2 in a game where they timewasted for an entire half and did not get a card but we did for mildly complaining about actual fouls not given, one of them a possible penalty (I guess VAR said it wasn’t in the box or maybe they just stuck to the on field call) etc but these kind of teams from lower leagues having success is good for the romanticism of football, just thinking that we could have done the same ourselves…
@@lucachung6805 Thanks, can t wait for it to start, having RFS first is the perfect start to get us into the swing of things too. If you are a Sparta fan good luck in the CL, Brest and Feyenoord are definitely games you could get something out of at least after this start
Love your videos but as a Ukrainian I find your pronounciation of "Donetsk" a bit weird. It's a Ukrainian club not russian so it's DonEtsk not DonYEtsk. Just pronounce that "e" as you would in English and it would make your pronounciation closer to the original than what you're trying to do. I'm not a fan of nitpicking pronounciation but this seems like a case of you trying too hard.
@@veldrensavoth7119 Even if Liverpool was as one-dimensional as you say they are (they aren't), the difference in quality of players alone is enough for them to beat Zagreb without much difficulty. It's not that they're badly coached either, so it's not like it would be easy for Zagreb to overcome them tactically. Yea they lost to Forest, but upsets happen literally all the time in the PL. Even with teams that end up winning the CL (e.g. when Chelsea had won it in '21 they had lost to Leicester, Wolves, almost every other big 6 team and got destroyed by West Brom 2-5 at home - even so they won the CL) Bayern's result was impressive definately but claiming tnat Zagreb is some hidden sleeper team that can beat teams way better than them is a bit ridiculous.
