@@AlexFooty7you say this because you support big teams where international break is mostly seen as just more matches for the players. For us small clubs fans, international break can be good, especially if our players got called up, and inflate their prices.

People tend to forget (regarding Kanes comment) is that he knows these players better then we do. He spends time with them and also knows their perspective. Him making that comment shows some players mindset regarding the national team.
Rice and Grealish both scored (iirc) when they played recently IN IRELAND... Oh and Trent is/was injured recently (subbed off for Bradley in a first half).
The fans of the big teams probably don't care but for small nations it's really important (because we have opportunities to win and qualify for a major tournament)

Personally speaking, I’m all for them pulling out of these absolute nonsense games… and if I was England manager I’d use the Nations League to give Key players a rest and use it to give players the chance to step up from U21’s, treat it like a glorified Friendly 🤷🏻♂️ (it’s literally what I do on FM with it to be honest, Nations League is glorified friendlies and I use it to bed in new players)
I am Hungarian and i care about the Nations League because people forget that it helps to qualify for a WC or EC. Just look at Norway for example...they just started to care about the Nations League because its their only hope to qualify for an International Tournament
Unless all 25 players are all world class no one will play more than 50 games. Though if something like that exists the other problem will be keeping them all happy
The players are also idiots who want to start and play all games. Messi and Ronaldo were throwing tantrums in Barca and Madrid vs some shit teams because their 50goal hunts were more important than being their best in more important games.
I only care because the US has won it both times against Mexico and that just brings a smile to my face, especially that Tyler Adams goal in the second one
@0:26 yes, been to a match in my city this year, maybe not the most prestigious for some teams, but for others it's a chance to see the best players from their country
I think the England manager or any national manager should say in the media that they recognise the number of games and give/offer all players at least 1 window off as well as maybe try to rotate in the windows they play so they might only start 1 game, this will give the added benefit of seeing more players in action giving more players experience and giving you more options. If players drop out when you give them this option unless they have niggling injuries then you can question their commitment to playing for the Country
If UEFA/FIFA really wants to enforce having this many matches played per season then they should just drastically increase the number of players that can be registered for a competition and let the top clubs have 50 players and rotate them. Yes, it sounds stupid but playing more matches than a human body can handle is even more stupid. Paying players big money to get injured is absurd. We get 1 single body for a lifetime, nothing can give us a second one. Maybe in 20 years we will have synthetic implants in the body that speeds up muscle recovery, but that is not the case right now. I really hope players will get together under an association like the FPA (but global) and force a change - I can see this reaching the point where they threaten with a lockout.
Country before club is always true. Should players play less games? Yes. Should we probably remove an international break when we have no summer tournement? Yes. Should we shorten club competition such as reduce ucl games and not play 8 times in the group? Yes. So the real issue is the number of games which could be shortened instead of extending comeptions to have more games, the fact we have a scenario where people turn down there country for a break is insane and shouldn't be an issue, nothing against the specific players themselves either as it's the competitions taking advantage
Nations league is very important for smaller nation because it can allow them to participate in bigger competition. Sure for english or spanish supporter it doesn't mean much but ask georgians what they think about it and i'm pretty sure you will have a very different answer. As a supporter of Luxembourg i like the competition.
I think every letter sent inviting players to join the squad should be like those old birthday cards which would play happy birthday when you opened them, except it should have either the national anthem or some other patriotic music. I can imagine Foden opening it and Land Of Hope And Glory playing while he reads "Dear....Phil... Hey, that's me!...We...are...de...light...ed...delighted...to...invite" etc. 🤣
imagine uniting your whole country to support u and 10 of ur friends running around kicking a ball. playing for ur country is the highest honour regardless of what competition, to even get half an hour in a friendly for ur country (assuming it’s not fucking kiribati or nauru) is an incredible achievement and all this lot are taking advantage of it. id rather miss carabao cup and easy european games
Why these players don't withdraw from club games? I think they can decide when they want to play just surprised they would value Country games less than club games Also another thought, the players could have talked about this with the coach he wouldn't call them up and then tell media yeah we're testing some players or giving younger players a chance and then no drama
Some of them are genuinely injured definitely trent Alexander Arnold he went off after 24 minutes at weekend for his club and since confirmed hamstring injury, the rest may be pulling a fast 1 but trent has gone on international duty everytime he's been called up, often to sit on the bench not playing any minutes for his country so his integrity with regard to national team can't be questioned.
If any of them get injured from now till the next break, I doubt you would want them to be called up even if they were fit, no one is going to look back on the game against Greece and go oh he played when everyone took care of themselves, club form gets you picked,
Some of these players are actually injured yet the media is trying to make it look like they just decided to drop out. Like Trent got a hamstring injury and had to be taken of in the 24th minute against Villa, he’s been going whenever he gets called up even if he barely gets minutes. Grealish has had injury issues this season and Saka got taken off in the derby yet they are trying to make it look like they all just decided to skip it.
For England the Nations League makes no difference but to say that no one cares is ignoring the fact that your nation league standing gives you a second opportunity to qualify for the EURO's despite being poor in the qualifiers. Poland was one such beneficiary of this mechanism
The English media is being exceedingly weird about the dropouts, there was 7 dropouts in the November window last year. It was a nothing story, that has just been blown out of all proportion just because a certain group of English journalists have a huge chip on their shoulder about the appointment of Tuchel.
If I was England I would try to hire a coach that doesn’t know English at all. You know Spain is one of the worst media for football and hansi flick hasn’t really been put under much pressure or scrutiny mainly because he doesn’t know Spanish and if I was him I wouldn’t bother learning much besides football terms.
Gold Cup and WC Qualifying are way more important than Concacaf Nation's League. The only importance it has is in determining seeding for those two. The final (always Mexico and the US) is kind of a big deal because of the rivalry but the tournament itself is not important.
Places like England, Spain, Germany, and France have no excuse for rotating national team squads when they have thousands of pro players to choose from
The only Nations League that I care about are the D-Leagues, with teams like San Marino, Gibraltar and Liechtenstein. Because that's actually pretty amazing, and from what I gathered from contact on social media with actual doccer personal from those countries those games actually really help those teams, because it's competition on a more level playing field.
Keep the Nations League but select non-league players instead. Imagine Big Kieth, a man who works in a warehouse, gets plastered every weekend yet can turn up hungover and play like peak Ashley Cole.
Carsley already confirmed that players were called up to check their fitness and then sent the unfit ones home, so the coaches knew the situation. Kane went all the way to Greece to sit on the bench, so what really was the point?
Every nation in the risk of missing out on tournaments clearly cares and for good reason. That being said the top nations in the world ranking should probably not be there unless they miss out on the official qualifiers, then they get automatically into the Nations League qualifiers.
Greece had already beaten our supposed strongest team! This was a must win game.....heck two must win games AGAINST a team that had already beaten us and a historical rival who would love nothing more than to stop us from winning the group! If we don't beat Ireland in the final match then it's an almost guaranteed certainty that Greece win the group; given that Finland are highly unlikely to get a point in that game!
Even though it was meant as a funny aside I dont think Jack Grealish and Declan Rice not going because of the Ireland game's media coverage because they already played Ireland previously and both of them scored (they also did not celebrate their goals which was the funniest part)
Let's compare how many matches players had to play 10 or 15 years ago, vs now. For players in national team level, 1 or 2 decades ago, they played like 160 games in a 4-year window, and now is expected for it to be more than 200 in that same timeframe, 25 or 30% more. The accumulation of activity is making players choose where to put their physical condition at risk, and for much of them, it is an easy decision to go with the clubs.
Regarding nations league: As a swede the thing for a lot of us is we watch football from the potential of the national team. If we have a player in a top 7-8 league we tend to follow those teams to see the players development. A lot *not all* of us watch football with the basis being the national team not any club allegiences and seems club football as audition tapes for the national team As such international breaks is kind of a big thing which even non football fans watches. Because of accesability it’s international not club football that creates our love of the game
But for you to see thise players they have to play well for club, do you think if a player gets injured from now till the next break he will get called up, even if he was fit, do you think they will give him a gold star and a pass to join the national team for playing that one game that does nothing
@ No I understand that my comment was moreso in regard to his statement wheather we care about the nations league as fans. The competition doesn’t really matter but what I meant is as a swede I appreciate every time the national team plays. Even if it’s for a freindly I care more for international than club fotball My comment was not in regards to players or Clubs but rather how I and many swedes view football not from the perspective of club alliegence but how swedish players develop for our national team. If one swedish player plays for Manchester united and one for manchester city we would support both and hope they do well rather than support one of the clubs
For stuff like the nations league and the Club World Cup: Just find some random 18 year olds running around your facilites, have the u19s play. They gonna have a blast and a memory for life and the club's (national teams) protect their valueable players for actually important matches.
I remember it mostly being the top international players that had heavy schedules complaining they couldn't find the energy for friendly games against Lichtenstein and Kazakhstan. Guess they fixed that now by constantly pitching equal level teams against each other. Now they have to go deep in every 'friendly' they play to get a result (and keep supporters happy). I think those games against Lichtenstein don't sound that bad anymore lol.
0:34 I mean, this time not really because we got relegated so our opponents are weaker (Romania, even then our ultras managed to get into a rivalry with Kosovo) and FCSB is doing so well in the EL that I just want to see that keep going but last Nations League run was nice and the concept of it is great, having nations of the same-ish level play each other for a qualifier fail safe sounds great, that s how we get San Marino winning a game. And tbh FCSB badly needs a break as we have so many players out with injuries so I am glad it s not the club season that keeps going at least (even though we DO have to play a postponed game…). But yeah, that s definitely not the major competition by any means, maybe it can grow over time but it will never surpass the actual qualifiers, I still think it s a nice concept though. I do hate the new 2nd/3rd place playoffs they introduced though, the fact that literally everyone can either promote or relegate anyway is WILD, it should be 1st comes up, 4th goes down full stop. And yeah, for the big teams the Nations League is even less important as they don’t get that feeling of “oh we can finally beat someone, we need this extra spot etc”, even for them it s a benefit to test themselves against other strong sides but I get why players want to sit out. Tbh, unless we limit the number of matches played by a player via a FIFA decision teams will keep scheduling friendlies even if there weren’t any competitions going on because that s just how the greed for money works I guess
This feels like the first time players are fighting back. Previously it was unheard of for a player to not respond to a national team call up. Provided the managers did talk to the players and gave them a break so it was kind of done behind the curtains, plus the narrative was to give other guys a chance to see what they can do. Now the narrative is that these top players decided not to help their team and rather took 2 weeks off. Not saying I agree with this, but this is how it's presented. Also England seems like one of the few countries where fans are so against international games, every international window is pure torture to them. Perhaps it's the lack of success and frustration or I don't know. Maybe a few other top countries have similar vibes, I don't follow that intensely, but for anyone outside of top5 (10?) these games do matter both for the national team and for the fans.
It's a friendly tournament, that's it. For me it is used for experimenting with new talent. If we, (the English crown) won it, would anybody care? Probably not. Could it help young talent get familiar with tournament football outside the u23s? Yes, it could.
I don't blame any of the players tbh. These guys are top Athletes and they'll only be able to reach peak performance if they allow their body some recovery cycles! This needs to become more organized and sustain to make the point that governing bodies can't keep extending schedules. Force some games to be played by U21s and reserves. I'd love to see some championship players get a call up for a few games.
I actually think these Players are doing England a favour by not participating. This gives younger/other players a chance to show themselves, as well as it increases the likelyhood that they will be fit for the important matches. I also get Harry Kane, because what he has done for the National team over the last 6-8 years is Incredible and he is a great leader, always giving it everything. He just has different priorities and thats okay
International teams have to have friendlies, the nations league makes them a little bit more important, but not to the point I care all that much. There are too many games, and it disrupts the league.
I somewhat care about the Nations League as an easier method of qualifying for the European Championship. Not that much, but if its there I still hope for the chance. I feel bad about it but I kind of wanted my country to get relegated from Tier 2 for an easier chance at qualifying for the EC next time.
I think the problem with the nations league is it’s boring for any top team or any one who isn’t European. It’s great for small or middle of the road teams to get some wins but that’s about it
I am not sure about Jack Grealish, but i do know that Declan Rice was playing through injury against chelsea. Not sure that it's a case of not wanting to play against Ireland LOL
I actually think that the Nation's League is a perfect opportunity to test out new players. There are no more friendlies windows. When are you going to try to integrate new players and try out new tactics if not in the Nations League games?
I really care about the Nations League. It is another way of qualifying for bigger tournaments for smaller teams like Slovakia or Scotland. And I know you love 1st time entrance into world cup or copa america

@@AlexFooty7you say this because you support big teams where international break is mostly seen as just more matches for the players. For us small clubs fans, international break can be good, especially if our players got called up, and inflate their prices.
@@Ganganuk 99% Madrid and 1% Man united. Fucking tired of watching Brazil. It's the first time in many a united player hasn't been called up to the England National team. So I'm just home doing nothing
@@Ganganuklol. International break literally has no impact on small clubs, so they’re not part of the conversation. End of. The OP is correct.
Trent has hamstring injury so none of this applies to him.
Zealand not doing enough research, accusing Trent of skipping international duty when he was clearly injured last game vs Villa.
Blame Fifa not Zealand
@sajit68 For Zealand saying the wrong things?
The fans of the big teams probably don't care but for small nations it's really important (because we have opportunities to win and qualify for a major tournament)
Being Welsh, knowing most countries will qualify so knowing we have a high chance of getting a play off via the nations league and we see whom should be in starting 11 for us.
It would be the most pointless get together in football if it weren't for the club world cup
For bigger football countries it might seem pointless but for smaller countries playing competitive matches against even opponents is great.
10:30 bruh they scored against Ireland last match.
Innit Zealand doesn't know ball he just waffles for 10 minutes over 1 page articles
You didn't have to go so hard. I answered 'No, I don't care' the first time you asked. 😅
harry kane the kinda guy u dont want in ur class
I am Hungarian and i care about the Nations League because people forget that it helps to qualify for a WC or EC.
Just look at Norway for example...they just started to care about the Nations League because its their only hope to qualify for an International Tournament
Kane throwing teammates under the bus as a captain is insane to me.
It's funny too because at every major tournament we're talking about Harry Kane not being at his best and/or carrying an injury.
Funny that Rice and Grealish both scored against Ireland last time we played them 😂
Even Mark Twain would have though that 70+ matches a season is too much
Trent went off injured in the 25th minute of his last game
trent was injured so he had to pull out
Isn't there a reason for 25 man squad?
Why should one player play 70 matches?
Unless all 25 players are all world class no one will play more than 50 games. Though if something like that exists the other problem will be keeping them all happy
The players are also idiots who want to start and play all games. Messi and Ronaldo were throwing tantrums in Barca and Madrid vs some shit teams because their 50goal hunts were more important than being their best in more important games.
I only care because the US has won it both times against Mexico and that just brings a smile to my face, especially that Tyler Adams goal in the second one
Proper piss missile right there
I dont really care for the nations league but I do enjoy getting to watch Ni and Republic of Ireland matches as I rarely see them play
Ttent came off holding his hamstring in 1st half 4 days ago
Jimmy Conrad’s video on this is a cool look at the other side of this argument
England has a winter break!
We just split it over 2 weeks
For big nations, yea it is a glorified friendly but for smaller nations, it is kind of a big deal.
Thoughts on Solomon Islands being knocked out of WCQ? 🇸🇧
imagine uniting your whole country to support u and 10 of ur friends running around kicking a ball. playing for ur country is the highest honour regardless of what competition, to even get half an hour in a friendly for ur country (assuming it’s not fucking kiribati or nauru) is an incredible achievement and all this lot are taking advantage of it. id rather miss carabao cup and easy european games
Why these players don't withdraw from club games? I think they can decide when they want to play just surprised they would value Country games less than club games
Also another thought, the players could have talked about this with the coach he wouldn't call them up and then tell media yeah we're testing some players or giving younger players a chance and then no drama
If any of them get injured from now till the next break, I doubt you would want them to be called up even if they were fit, no one is going to look back on the game against Greece and go oh he played when everyone took care of themselves, club form gets you picked,
Counterpoint: I want to slander Mbappe for not showing up for France, so I'm going with "this is important"
I actually do care how Ukraine NT does in the Nations League, maybe it's different for major footballing nations tho 🙂
Gunna guess now as much research was done for this video
As a Norwegian the Nations League is important! We need as many chances as possible for a miracle to reach a tournament
Grealish and Rice both scored vs Ireland in the away fixture…
All power to them, there’s too many games, this is what happens.
Hi Zealand you should make a video about Sahin not winning a single away game in the Bundesliga. It's baffling as a BVB fan. Also love your videos
Gotta tag him in some article about it,
Never seen him respond to RUclips comments
Kane went all the way to Greece to sit on the bench, so what really was the point?
couple were injured but most r just taking the piss
How Ironic, Kane ends up not playing England match yesterday night 😂 😂 😂
He did
Even though it was meant as a funny aside I dont think Jack Grealish and Declan Rice not going because of the Ireland game's media coverage because they already played Ireland previously and both of them scored (they also did not celebrate their goals which was the funniest part)
Grealish did cekebrate
Grealish overly-celebrated his goal vs Ireland
Grealish did and really went for it
Harry Kane shouldn't talk because he has a winter break coming up? Hary Kane who spent most of his career in England?
Let's compare how many matches players had to play 10 or 15 years ago, vs now. For players in national team level, 1 or 2 decades ago, they played like 160 games in a 4-year window, and now is expected for it to be more than 200 in that same timeframe, 25 or 30% more. The accumulation of activity is making players choose where to put their physical condition at risk, and for much of them, it is an easy decision to go with the clubs.
Regarding nations league:
As a swede the thing for a lot of us is we watch football from the potential of the national team. If we have a player in a top 7-8 league we tend to follow those teams to see the players development.
A lot *not all* of us watch football with the basis being the national team not any club allegiences and seems club football as audition tapes for the national team
As such international breaks is kind of a big thing which even non football fans watches.
Even if it’s for a freindly I care more for international than club fotball
My comment was not in regards to players or Clubs but rather how I and many swedes view football not from the perspective of club alliegence but how swedish players develop for our national team.
If one swedish player plays for Manchester united and one for manchester city we would support both and hope they do well rather than support one of the clubs
@@andreasr2046 ok then thats fair .I respect that
For stuff like the nations league and the Club World Cup:
Just find some random 18 year olds running around your facilites, have the u19s play.
In case your not aware trent has hamstring injury was withdrawn for club at weekend so hardly taking advantage😂
I still think the schedule is bloated and Euro nations needs to go.
International football won't be a thing 20 years from now if it stays on this trajectory
Being from Poland I care about nations league and look forward to their games
In a way, it's nice that some fringe players/debutants could get a cap from it... How we meant to set the future up if they don't play?
I somewhat care about the Nations League as an easier method of qualifying for the European Championship. Not that much, but if its there I still hope for the chance. I feel bad about it but I kind of wanted my country to get relegated from Tier 2 for an easier chance at qualifying for the EC next time.
0:30 Zealand, I’m Scottish. I don’t even give a shit about the World Cup. All I really care about when it comes round is England don’t win it.
a PST ism?? Blesssss
Harry Kane could have played for ireland too
I think the problem with the nations league is it’s boring for any top team or any one who isn’t European. It’s great for small or middle of the road teams to get some wins but that’s about it
I am not sure about Jack Grealish, but i do know that Declan Rice was playing through injury against chelsea. Not sure that it's a case of not wanting to play against Ireland LOL
Lolll i’m spanish and didn’t even care we won the Nations League in 2023😭😭
You did?, 😂 I dont even remember that and I watch almost everything
Waiting for the sprinkler video.
I care about the nations league in the sense that it doesn’t matter when my national team plays I want to watch them and watch them do us proud
Aaron ramsdale has a fractured fibger. Don't really think it's fair to say he's skipping a call up
I actually think that the Nation's League is a perfect opportunity to test out new players. There are no more friendlies windows. When are you going to try to integrate new players and try out new tactics if not in the Nations League games?
Phil had to spend time with his 19 children
I really care about the Nations League. It is another way of qualifying for bigger tournaments for smaller teams like Slovakia or Scotland.
And I know you love 1st time entrance into world cup or copa america
I don’t think about it at all, nations league, but I like watching it
