I get out of the Marine Corps in a few months, am also 23 yrs old, and have good beard genes. Watching this series, along with the other Beardbrand titans, has me SO pumped to get out of service and LET IT GROW. Keep it up, gents
I got out 7 months ago after 10 years in the corps. I started growing mine the very next day after my last shave. It's been am adjustment but so worth it having a glorious freedom beard. These videos have been a great guide along my journey to beardom. Thanks @beardbrand . Kyle- Good luck with your future endeavors and grow that beard. Semper Fi.
Jack - not sure if I agree with you the bald head / step look. Having a shaved head, and being 6+ months into my yeard; for me, just stepping into a full beard is a little jolting, and doesn't seem like it blends in with the rest of my head as well. I feel more comfortable with a bit of a fade into the shaved head. That being said - it all depends on the beard / look the wearer wants. My 2 cents, and YMMV.
This is great. I'm at week 23 or so and mine just started to come out a little. Now I know why. Jack has such a smooth delivery. I'll have to watch the rest of his journey.
Am bald guy and growing beard to complement bald head. My beard is about 3-4 inches length and growing since 5 months. This video made me relaxed about losing 3-5 beard follicles falling out.
I’m growing my yeard too, I’m in week 21 and my beard is getting really big. I’m receiving though bad comments about it, and that it will cause me a lot of trouble for example in airports while traveling. Personally I love my beard and it’s a great experience to grow it for a year, but I hate how it is associated with “bad” stuff and how people assume a lot about you when they see you with a beard. I hope I would be able to change how people perceive beards and bearded men, and thank you for sharing your journey with us!
Epic comment brotha, don't listen to negative comments, opinions, cause we are 8 billion of human beings there's will always be billions who like beard, and billion who don't . Don't focus on the billion who don't like beards, cause there's a few billions of people who like beards. And you are right, beard nowadays is associated sometimes as terrorists, Mormon, gang of biker, Amish, Indian priest, Muslim, Jewish . Stereotypes. Society wants to weaken men by fashionable them, and society and industries wants us to shave. It's a business, growing a beard doesn't cost too much (just a good comb like a Chicago comb n°6/7/8, good beard octane wash, good beard octane oil). Society wants to feminized men and makes women masculine, which is why society is sick. Let it grow brother. :) My best advice is : Let it grow, don't shave your neckline don't do the Adam's apple technique, just do every 3 months the technique of Dan C Bearded which is slightly trim the transparency of the bottom of your long beard hair chin, and this techniques will allow you in just a 5 weeks to grow faster, fuller, volume, much less transparency. You'll be surprised by how your beard will grow faster with the every 3 month just a Transparency trim of the bottom .
Once again another great video Jack! I just placed my order on old money beard oil! I’m so damn excited! I literally cannot wait! I’ve been watching beardbrand since 2015 and only recently started purchasing beardbrand products. I swear ever since I’ve been using them I have noticed such a huge difference. My beard has never looked so much thicker, fuller, and overall more healthier. You guys are killing it and I love how this is very community based as in terms for beard-growers of all walks of life! Can’t thank you guys enough! Keep on growing 👌
Wow, you have really come a long way since you started these videos. Not just the beard, but you just seem so much more comfortable and confident. Maybe it is just the halo effect of the beard lol
Hey man we all have a little stress in our lives but just keep one thing in mind no matter what happens or what you go through at the end you'll become a better man. because pain and hardship is what molds us but we can never let it take control of us so stay strong brother
I've had a beard for about 4-5 years and I think every guy initially gets worried/ freaked out when their beard reaches a certain length and notices multiple hairs falling out (usually most notable in the morning beard routine). Defiantly don't stress it:) it's always been happening but now your beard hairs are longer and just more noticeable at the bottom of the sink. Luckily there is the Internet (the first place I went to and discovered my beard wasn't falling out). I use a conditioning beard balm daily which can make loose hairs to come out more readily when applying because the balm has a 'stickyness' but that aspect along with the holding power helps prevent loose hairs from falling out later in the day. Having beard hairs on your shirt at work isn't fun. Everyone keep bearding:)
Thank you guys for the wonderful information. I went to wal mart got shampoo and conditioner along with oil. Every morning and right before bed i use that and brush my beard about 3 times a day. I have noticed my beard getting brighter red and finally my mustache is becoming more pronounced. Been hitting the weights as well to get into a healthier lifestyle. Because of your videos i have become more confident in myself and my appearance thank you.
I’ve been growing my beard and hair out for a while (hair 1 year), beard (5 months). I’ve noticed alot of hair loss for both. I’m 20 (hopefully it’s not baldness 🤞) but it’s either stress or vitamin deficiency
Jack, beard is looking so good. I must say, my favorite thing about this week’s update is your hair!! Fade and shorter top looks sweet and really makes the beard pop!! Keep rockin it.
i lose about 5 ish beard hairs a day, i wash my beard about twice a week and when i eventually comb it and oil it after a shower i can have upto 10-20 beard hairs come out...its natural so dont worry :)
Mine started shedding at the two year mark. I was losing around a dozen long hairs a day. That's a lot of hair loss over time. I'm very careful with the maintenance. I just cut about 10 inches off yesterday. It was so thin, I could read the paper under it. During the shedding period, I neglected supplementing with biotin. When I started again, most shedding stopped, but it was too late. I have about 4 inches left.
GREAT video! I've been growing a beard on & off since getting out of Viet Nam. But I always shaved it off in the summer because the heat got to me. But this past year I decided to go thru the summer and had no problem. It'll be a year in September and growing nicely. But I have an all white, kinky beard and I thought that was the reason for losing some hair. You just set my mind at ease. Thanks for sharing. Your beard looks awesome.
First off, hilarious intro, that made me laugh! Next, I would love to say congratulations! Your beard is officially at that long stage! It looks so full and great 👍🏻. It’s actually longer then mine now and I really have to admit, I’m jealous! I really hope you keep it when your done, and just have it shaped. Appreciate you taking your time to help the bearded community, thank you!
DAMN, the content of this video, as if you guys knew exactly what i was looking for, thank you so much. I have been googling desperately searching for answers, wish this video came out about 3-4 months back. Whatever Jack was talking about, it all applies to me 100%. Infact i had the exact same length and shape of beard as his. Due to the weather here, i got it trimmed short for a change (as Eric had mentioned in a video of his) and i plan to regrow again. Thanks Beardbrand, your videos are always useful.
It's crazy, 'cause I honestly decided to do this one because this issue had been really affecting me over the past 2 weeks and I really wanted to know more about. Glad you enjoyed the video! - Jack
I have experienced shedding or fall of the beard but I have only 2 and a half months of clear growth I had never let it grow so much, I blew it three times a day and well in two of three I see that they fall from 2 to 6 hairs it is normal to have shedding with only 2.5 months of growth.
Damn 15 days ago I shaved. I had my beard for 5 months. The length was like yours but I as well started losing like 20 to 30 hairs per day. I to be honest am a pessimist and get stressed easily so I got worried the vitamins I was getting were not enough for my beard and hair so RIP. That was my second 5 month beard, oh well on to the third.
Hi dear George, 20-30 beard hair loss per day is completely normal. Sometimes i loosed 32 cause i combed to much . But it's rare. Your hands are the best comb to prevent loosing beard hair. Step 1: If you want the best advice for a full and massive beard. let your beard grow and don't touch the neckline, don't cut or trim your neckline, don't do the two finger adam apple technique, you can just slightly trim the sides towards the ear every 4 months. But don't touch anything underneath. Sometimes don't use a brush or comb, just your clean hands. Drink a lot of water without too much. Especially in the morning when your stomach is empty. Step 2: Watch Dan C Bearded's beard transparency trim method on youtube. Clearly, it's a very simple pro method that consists of slightly trimming your transparency of the long beard hairs that are under your chin (not the neckline). You cut the transparency slightly by removing 3 or 4 centimeters or more if you have more transparency. This method allows you to fully regrow your beard and massively color. You will regain in volume, in length too.
20-30 beard hair loss per day is completely normal. There are good days and bad days. I have a technique, after the shower you just have to dry your beard a little with a towel at 70% your beard must be a little wet but not too much. Then you gently brush the top of your beard and the bottom, then you put your beard oil in your beard, then you brush your beard again above and below. Then in the end you take your hair dryer and you brush your beard above and below with the hair dryer (not stick against your face. ). You will see you will lose maybe 8 or 10 beard hairs per day by doing this. And then gradually you won't lose much, maybe 4 maximum.
I've been growing my beard for about 6 years barely ever touching up the sides to reduce mountain man look. It's settled close to what this is like in the video. I'm not disappointed but I was always wondering why mine didn't look like the 3+ year videos some pull off. Of course it could be vitamins, abject poverty and daily stress that goes along with it. I've always been poor and had health problems. Thanks for the video though. I just notice long hairs come out constantly whenever I even run fingers through it. I guess that answered my questions.
Dear Jack, Thank you for the weekly updates. I started on my yeard after watching your videos. I am 8 weeks in now. Your videos are very informative. Please keep up the good work. Cheers.
Love that the videos always seem to come out in my lunch time. It's great, I can watch it while eating. On the topic though, it's finally the theme that I was asking. I loose 15 to 30 hairs a day, but I've noticed that my growing speed is quicker than regular folks, i.e I grows about 1,5 to 2 pinkies per month(grows slower towards the sides). I do take biotin supplements and eat a healthy diet with exercise 5 times a week. And one curious thing to notice is that when I get sick they seem to not fall out at all.
We always upload videos at the same time of day, everyday, it seems fitting so that everyone can get used to when we release videos. Glad they work out with your schedule, man! Sounds like you've got some serious growth! That example of the hairs not falling out when your sick is interesting, I've personally never heard of this. - Jack
jack when you're done with this year beard project go back to the style of beard and hairstyle you had on your first video where you started the project by shaving off your beard .. that one suits you the best in my opinion
Jack, nice haircut bro! Looking really good! And I'm with you with the bald/shaved head and big beard look, looks great.. but I prefer the beard faded into the sideburns.. personally my sideburns grow a bit long and the beard starts looking wild, curling up on those areas. Someday I will also have the cojones to do it myself. I'll probably do it when I finally get a bald spot in my head or something.. Keep doing your thing, man! These videos are awesome!
Hey Jack, I have to be honest with you, When I first saw the title of this video I thought crap, there is this thing that no beadsmen tells you. One day you wake up and your beard is on your pillow! Well thank goodness that isn't true. Another awesome video with great information! Your beard is continuing to be great. Keep on growing!
My beard is quite similar to yours in length and fullness. My question has to do with trimming. Other than the cheek line, what other trimming have you done or had done to your beard.
So far, I've only had a single trim done to my beard. I had some of the bulk and split ends trimmed off. Other than that, this beard is 100% natural. Here's the video of that trim: ruclips.net/video/qXa8oNKmgkA/видео.html - Jack
Hahah nice intro Jack, thanks for the info on this subject. I loose quite a few beard hairs everyday, I know it's normal even though sometimes I wonder how I still have a full beard. I do take biotin and a multivitamin daily. Stay bearded my friends and enjoy your weekend.
Naw man, you are misinformed. The human body cannot metabolize and assimilate vitamins in pill form like you may think. Eat whole foods and get good sleep, then you will have a higher density beard and more than double the growth rate. Just exfoliate with boars bristle brushes and use beard oil at skin level 👌.
Ali Recant Just let your facial hair grow, eventually the hair will grow long enough that it will cover the scar up. I actually have a scar on my chin, but since I have a beard, you wouldn't even know it's there.
hi jack i am growing a yeard it's on 12 months mark but lately i notice that i could see through it and i 23 years old should i leave it and wait it to heal it self or shave it
A great starting point is beard oil. That's the tried and true beginning into the world of beard care. Personally, I seriously started using beard oil with Beardbrand's Tea Tea, you can check that one out here: www.beardbrand.com/collections/beard-oil/products/tea-tree-beard-oil - Jack
I sometimes feel split ends or breard hair crack or braking. But ya a few hairs here and there come out often when you comb or whatever. Also your 6month beard is better than my 12month feelsbadman
im currently losing id say about 50 hairs daily, its about a year and a half old. Getting concerned, ive upped biotin intake, hydration, keeping it hydrated, however its still falling out.
I will suggest start exercising and try legs up and head down one. Lifting weights will boost testosterone and will supply more blood to head and make hair healthy.
I wish my beard looked like that. Im on the 6-7 months now. I started on january. But my beard mostly grow on my chin and upper lip. The beard on my cheeks is really slow.
Thanks for this video, I have also been losing beard hair (8 months growth) and have been getting a bit concerned even tho my beard is pretty thick, I am a truck driver and I drive through Austin often no stress there haha. Just received my first order of beard softener and the sample of Old Money beard oil, next order for Old Money oil coming soon! I have to disagree I think the fade would look better for the bald or buzz cut.
Looking good Jack, I wanted to ask about lining to your beard around the corner of your beard around where your ear is this is somewhere I struggle to line up any thoughts?
Mines been falling out for a whole year I thought it was just s faze...weird when I'm in Africa my beard never falls out when I'm back to the UK the problem starts all over again
Jim Root from Slipknot inspired me to rock the long beard. But i noticed something strange ..once it reaches around 6 inches it splits in 2 from my chin, then both ends bind and knot, then it falls out in huge clumps. Any reason why this is happening?? Took me long to grow it but it looks good, only for a while then the problems happen :'(
Currently I'm scared for my thinning beard that is growing for a couple of years. The hairs start to turn white at the roots in my beard and all hairs that have dropped where white at the roots. Can hair die from not cutting it? My beard has been reshaped 9 months ago.
I applied beard oil and I had a lot of dandruff peeling off and the beard falling out and I lost like 15-20 atleast. And my beard isn't huge also, it is really in its early stages like 5 weeks or show. This is is very worrying, what should I do?
10/10 intro. Personally, I shave my head due to hair loss (started receding at 15, thanks DNA), but I agree that it looks awesome with a full beard. Since you've still got a strong head of hair, you have the option of growing it back. That being said, if a glance at the Milocco family tree reveals that baldness may be on the horizon, you can either: enjoy the hair you have while you can, or pre-emptively shave it off before mother nature forces your hand. To be honest, your beard is strong enough to go with pretty much any style you choose. Maybe in the final yeard video you could shave your head and grow your hair out for the next year! Season 2? Yes. P.S. I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing some difficult times. Hope things get easier soon. Much love.
Damn Jack, you're looking really good with the longer on top, short on the side hairstyle and this big full beard. Also, those "embarrassing" spots on your chick grew in nicely. Keep us updated, and take care!
My beard not too long just 3mm. I have used beard oil 5days... whenever drops my hands rubs my beard 2 to 5 hairs Fall out... please can u tell me this is normal..? I mean my too short(3mm) beard.
I m going through this shedding phase from past nearly 2 months and the hairs which fall from my beard have little small white endings....I wanna ask how long will it go...daily nearly 10-15 hairs are falling...when will it stop??
Beards are technically always shedding, but they tend to fall out more as the hairs get terminal and you'll notice it a lot more when the hairs are longer. Since your beard is short, there's a good chance it has not gone terminal. - Jack
Hi sir, i have a serious query regarding to my beard, as m growing it this long first time, bcse for last 2-3 years, i was a guy with trimmed beard... Bt for last 5 months m growing it longer like u...... But as it's grown a little less of ur length.. I have been facing hair loss in my beard... As it's happening for last 1 and half month..... Usually when early morning i wash my beard nd make it moisturise with beard oil nd comb it... In starting i lost 3-5 hair strands, but now it's happiness in 11-15 strands sometimes it goes 30 strands whenever i give my beard a full oiled massage just after a bath... Bcse my hairs r curly nd at chin area my growth is heavy, thick nd at there my hairs r more tangled.... So please suggest me the right solution.... What's ur amount of losing beard hairs per day.... M getting tensed

Congrats ! I waited 21 years to retire from the military and didn't grow a beard since I was 18 and joined. It's fucking glorious to be a real man .
Do you guys have updates two years later?
Jack--I am totally with you in terms of the bald/shaved/buzzed with a big beard. I think that I may beat you to the punch....
What can I say? It's a great look!

Lol I had no choice guys... my hair won’t grow thick on top no more 😂
Bazza mac thanks brother!
This is great. I'm at week 23 or so and mine just started to come out a little. Now I know why.
Jack has such a smooth delivery. I'll have to watch the rest of his journey.
I use to have a full thick beard, it's now thinned out and dry with a few grey hairs sprouting everywhere below

My beard was awesome in my friend group when I was 18 after 21 slowly my beard falling now I cann my skin now am 22
I'm at 5 and I'm shedding like crazy but it doesn't show so I'm not too bothered by it. My head and body hair has always been quick shedders.
jack when you're done with this year beard project go back to the style of beard and hairstyle you had on your first video where you started the project by shaving off your beard .. that one suits you the best in my opinion
I may potentially do that. I haven't completely decided what to do with my beard after the series

What would you recommend for a beard balm because it is not available in my country ?
Great vid jack! Now do a video of how to reduce the falling down hairs
Sir can suggest some product for beard hair falling
Hey Jack, I have to be honest with you, When I first saw the title of this video I thought crap, there is this thing that no beadsmen tells you. One day you wake up and your beard is on your pillow! Well thank goodness that isn't true. Another awesome video with great information! Your beard is continuing to be great. Keep on growing!
Can stress make a beard grow patchy when it usually doesn’t?
Do you make your lower shave line BENEATH your Adam's apple? I recently learned ear lobe to ear lobe, but the trajectory of under the chin is tricky.
You're from Texas? Just curious
Here's the video of that trim: ruclips.net/video/qXa8oNKmgkA/видео.html

Finally you shaved your cheeks. Looks good man. And no length lost.
Dude that beard and hair cut combo suit you well man
My dude that cut makes your beard look 1000 times better. Keep looking sharp brother
Thanks man! I think I may have finally found a summer style that works with the bigger beard

Just exfoliate with boars bristle brushes and use beard oil at skin level 👌.
i agree jack, this is a weekly blog
/e vlog ofc
Dang Jacks Beard Looks Good. Love the Hair Style Buddy Keep it up!!!
Thanks man! Appreciate the kind words!
- Jack
That intro distracts me. But nice video as always :)
haha startled me too
John Doe haha 😂
Oh, my little lean up into the camera?
- Jack
Beardbrand Yeah
Weighed down by the weight of his awesome beard.....or is it the stress of life?!?
I have a small beard , is it also normall for everyday hairfallout?
Cool haircut Jack! I see you have gone shorter all over. I'm thinking it's time for my summer cut too. Hope to see of video of that soon!
I wanted to try a little bit of a shorter skin fade, so far, I'm loving it!
Glad you like it!

Hey there lm starting to grow some facial hair but i have a big scar on my face what should i do. Thanx.
Ali Recant
Just let your facial hair grow, eventually the hair will grow long enough that it will cover the scar up. I actually have a scar on my chin, but since I have a beard, you wouldn't even know it's there.
Best intro EVER
Hi Jack, it's always a pleasure to see your beard grow. She is very beautiful.
hi jack i am growing a yeard it's on 12 months mark but lately i notice that i could see through it and i 23 years old should i leave it and wait it to heal it self or shave it
If I were to buy one thing and one thing only to use on my beard, what would you guys suggest?
A great starting point is beard oil. That's the tried and true beginning into the world of beard care.
Personally, I seriously started using beard oil with Beardbrand's Tea Tea, you can check that one out here:

- Jack
Beardbrand appreciate it
I have itching in chin also falling beard hair..what i do??? I dont want remove my long beard ...
My beard was sooo thick and full all of the sudden started thinning out very noticeable
ive been asking for the buzzcut + beard combo since week 15, tis a great look!
Finally had to do it!

Looking good Jack, I wanted to ask about lining to your beard around the corner of your beard around where your ear is this is somewhere I struggle to line up any thoughts?
Same here....somehow either of the sides are taken too much....hence I have to shave the whole thing. :/
In that area, I've found that having a barber line you up is MUCH easier than trying to handle it yourself.
- Jack
Beardbrand sounds good mate
Great video Jack that much shedding use to freak me out too til a saw some videos telling me otherwise
The beard is looking pretty awesome also 👍
Great video jack, lots of good information. Beard and haircut looking good man, Cheers.
Dope look. U inspired me a lot
Thanks man I was so freaked out
Thanks for this video, I'm at the same growth as you, first beard. And I've noticed the same thing. Great job!
Yeard looking awsome jack!
Thank you!

i wanna know what beard balm does ? please someone tell me
Mines been falling out for a whole year I thought it was just s faze...weird when I'm in Africa my beard never falls out when I'm back to the UK the problem starts all over again
Edit: My beard is changing from browns and reds to white new hairs and looks thin with all those new hairs that do not show their colors yet.
Damn bro! Hair cut.. beard.. on point!
Also.. is it just me or does ur skin look clearer?
Much love.
I like the Season 2 idea with the hair, that'd make for an interesting series!
- Jack
Haircut looks great!
Damn Jack, you're looking really good with the longer on top, short on the side hairstyle and this big full beard. Also, those "embarrassing" spots on your chick grew in nicely. Keep us updated, and take care!
Then why do you have faded sideburn if you would go for the step option?
I have faded sideburns since I have a faded haircut. I think the step look is great if you have a completely bald or shaved head.
- Jack
Thanks brother ..
Looking epic as usual, Jack!
Thank you!
- Jack
My beard not too long just 3mm. I have used beard oil 5days... whenever drops my hands rubs my beard 2 to 5 hairs Fall out... please can u tell me this is normal..? I mean my too short(3mm) beard.
You look better with short hair !
Makes the beard look a little bigger, doesn't it?
- Jack
Hair and beard both look really good!
Thank you
Jack did you recorded this haircut?
Unfortunately, I did not. Sorry!
- Jack
I m going through this shedding phase from past nearly 2 months and the hairs which fall from my beard have little small white endings....I wanna ask how long will it go...daily nearly 10-15 hairs are falling...when will it stop??
That just means your beard is growing quickly. It's nothing to worry about. As the hairs reach terminal, it will slow down.
Great to know!
Glad to help!
- Jack
The video i needed.
Glad to help!
- Jack
growing my thesis beard. no stress whatsoever, no sir...
Great beard. Jack I have a short beard and I noticed that my beard hair is falling is that reached its terminal length?
Beards are technically always shedding, but they tend to fall out more as the hairs get terminal and you'll notice it a lot more when the hairs are longer. Since your beard is short, there's a good chance it has not gone terminal.
- Jack
Beardbrand thanks for the valuable information Jack
Great as Always ❤️😌
Glad you enjoyed it!
- Jack
New hair cut? I like it, sick fade.
