Had mine done last week, at 290k. The orings would weep periodically, but leak more during cold weather. definitely created a filthy oily mess, but after some brake clean, Purple power, and steam, she's clean & leak free.
I experienced the problem first hand. Those O-rings should be replace at around 200k or 10 years. You will lose all your oil in less than 30 seconds when it goes out. There was no early sign of any leaks. Left a long oil slick on the highway.
Be careful. I broke the engine front cover installing like this. Now I have to pull the engine. Put it together off of the vehicle and then install. It takes a lot of force to push those end caps on even with the o-rings oiled up, it broke the small aluminum piece off the front cover where the front end of the oil cooler bolts on.
Yes it is the threaded tab where the front cap of the oil cooler bolts onto. It is all part of the engine front timing cover. To take this off you have to remove the oil suction tube that is in the crankcase so the oil pan has to be off in order to do that, therefore you have to pull the engine.

Great video and I second what Tom Nguyen said. When the o-rings fail the oil leaks out quickly.
Great walkthrough. Thank you!
good information. saved me from taking it to a shop.
Very informative video. Will try and tackle this later today. Not looking forward to doing it but has to get done.
Thanks for this video! I appreciate it!
Excellent video work and instructions.
Funny thing is other websites explain it way harder than it actually is. This is the way it actually is and as easy as it looks.

Thanks good job teaching
Can you put the oil cooler in backwards

Are you talking about the oil cooler front mounting bracket being broke?

So do you assemble the entire oil cooler before installing? Or kind of how you removed it?
reverse order of how it was removed.
👍👏👏👏👏💪
Show how you installed the front mount with one person please. Nothing easy about it.
How much to replace mine
Not bad but u don’t have to take lower hose off nor drain the oil. Oil filter yes. Not a bad job to do
water gets in oil if you dont drain oil pull drain plug and you will see coolant in oil pan coolant setails to bottom of oil
Is it normal for the oil cooler to break?
More common for external and internal (coolant /oil mixing) leaks
