You forgot one thing especially if you have a lot of family. If you retire in Pinas , you will be the first person they come running to if they have problems and I mean any type of problems they have not the obvious one which is medical bills. Relatives in Pinas automatically since your from abroad, you are automatically super rich. If you don’t give them they will think you’re bad. If you don’t give them they will think badly if you but if you give one person…you have opened the floodgates for more people to ask you. So…your damned if you do and damned if you don’t. I am facing this dilemma and deciding if I should retire there . Don’t mistake coming back home everybody will love you. No…some of them will try to use you.
You're absolutely right; many balikbayans face those challenges. The pressure to help everyone can be overwhelming and hard to navigate. That’s one reason we’re leaning toward staying in the U.S. for retirement. Setting boundaries early might help, but it’s definitely not easy. Wishing you the best in making this tough decision!
That is always up to the person. We always have the choice in life it is not always our responsibility to help other people if we are scared that they will see us as a super rich then we can always explain and correct the wrong knowing of people. What is important is we don't step on anybody's toes. We sacrificed so much to work abroad it is just right to priority our own first before others.
I am here in the Phils now , been 4 months. My experience is that I can live on 2K dollars a month in the Philippines and includes 2X a month travel. With everything paid for house and car. 2 K dollars a month and I can live like this in the US also. Same thing house and car paid for. So I will go back and forth for a while. I feel blessed to be here in the midst of winter in the US. Then back to the US in March when it is going to be so hot in the Phils. Word of caution: if you have a lot of relatives: learn to say NO sa mga pa rinig ng pa utang.
We'd love to hear from you! 🌴 Are you considering retiring in the Philippines or have you already made the move? What’s the one thing you think is most important when choosing a retirement destination?
Wonderful video, very informative and loved the gentle and loving vibe. I am moving there in 6 months to Davao to the property me and my wife bough. . Stay blessed.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the video. Wow, Davao! That’s exciting-congrats on the new property! Wishing you and your wife an amazing new chapter there. Stay blessed
Hello ! That’s in Makati / Mandaluyong area . But pls note that this an approx figure and can vary depending on the location of the property , condition and current market demand. It’s just a figure we can reference . Also we took into consideration a nicer place for retiring lol . But it can be cheaper .
My wife and I have plans to retire in 2026 of December we House in gated community no payments on the house I’m from Canada I can’t take the cold anymore
Wow, ganda ng plano nyo! A house in a gated community with no payments-what a dream setup! I totally get wanting to escape the cold; that must be tough in Canada. Wishing you and your wife sa bagong chapter na to!
Sometimes, you really have to learn to say no.. Saying no doesn’t make you a bad person-it just means you’re protecting yourself and your hard-earned money :)
Totoo yan . It’s great for the cost of living and simple lifestyle . Pero consider din and healthcare , family and priorities . Ang importante kung Saan ka magiging masaya 😊.
If you want to choose to retire in the Phils. You have to live in the province on a safe farm land village for your security of seniors. Live a simple life but near in hospitals, markets, schools, police station to name a few. For this is a must to consider.
@ - Yeah,, why live in big cities in Condos if you are in your twilight last years in life? Go in the place where peace ✌️ quite literally and you will be in a big hurry and stressful. That if you can afford also of course.

If you have enough $$ in the U.S., you can retire in the Philippines.
