    Glad to hear you are doing better. The issue here in N America for longer road trips really centers on charging speeds and fortunately, EA has many stations with 350 Kw units. So it is a real advantage to have an 800v car here.
    Example with our Ioniq 5 AWD Limited on a 1,300 mi (2,100 km) trip, we had all sub 20 minute stops to get to 80% for a total charge time of 1 hr 54 mins for the 2,100 kms. Especially good on the East Coast of the US where there are EA stations every 60 miles and with free charging for 2 yrs on Hyundai, the Ioniq 5 is a no brainer in the US.

    Hi kris, so as a ioniq5 owner i can inform you that i recently drove 600km in similar conditions as you did with the c40 and first stop was after 335km 99% - 8% and reached a max charging speed of 223kw. And this is the awd whit 20” on Swedish highway and a average speed 104km/h and top speed 122km/h, so for me a one stop of 25min on a 600km drive is just amazing! Maybe consider to redo the test? Nice to hear that you’re getting better!

      What was the ambient temperature? What was the weather like? Was the surface dry or wet? What way
      was the wind blowing? Was this A - B - A or just A - B? What tires where on your car? What elevation was the starting and endpoint at all? Is that speed average according to the trip computer or is it actual measured speed(distance divided by time)?Can you document anything you wrote here or is it just hearsay?
      These are all things I account for and document in my tests because all this will influence the results. Your trip computers measured speed of 104KPH is more likely around 97-99KPH measured speed. My measured speed is 112,7KPH which is 15KPH faster. Distance drops really fast when speed increases. Drag increases squared when speed doubles, this means that drag at 120KPH is four times what it is at 60KPH!
      So the test results don't lie, but I will probably test the Ionic 5 again later this year 😊

    • @macki5542
      @macki5542 2 года назад +5

      I have documentation on all and I’m just as nerdy as you and everyone else here 😜
      And after checking my documentation the average speed was 102km/h not 104 as i first claimed.
      I started from ionity Malmö and ended at ionity Gränna 335,2km, so only one way but a increase in elevation of about 300m.
      And as i wrote similar conditions as the drive with the c40.
      Stock tires 255/45/20”, 110km/h on car speedo ( same as you do in both the c40 and Ioniq 5 video)
      The results don’t lie ( or do they) but I’m curious why we got so different results?
      And how come you get so high average speed when you only do 110 on speedo?
      You measured only time spent on the road and i A-B, start to stop and that lowers my average speed, and 102km/h is about 99-100km/h gps speed, but cruisecontrol set to 110, and some overtakes up to 122km/h.

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  2 года назад +2

      @@macki5542 well there is only one reason why I get a measure speed of 112,7kph though if you understand. Most people drive 10kph over the speed limit on the speedometer 😉
      1kph difference will yield a very different result, so most of the difference is there. Also wind is a strong factor, if you had a weak tailwind it can decrease consumption as much as 2kWh/100km which can result in as much as 20-30km in extra range! Then viola, there you have your whole difference 😊

    Did your Ioniq 5 have the full complement of battery cells? They added the extra two for the US launch to match EV6 capacity. UK model year 23 also got those extra two cells plus changes to the battery pre-heating. If yours didn’t have those, might be worth retesting for summer conditions

    XC40 vs C40 av. speed, dist, and SOC usage used suggests C40 is more efficient, but Consum / 100km looks worse for C40?
    e: If I am doing my math right, for C40 Consum. / 100km, 100% - SOC stop (22%) = SOC usage 78% might be used instead of SOC start (95%) - SOC stop (22%) = SOC usage 73%?
    Working back for C40, Consum 25.4kWh / 100km * Dist 228.8km = 58.1kWh or SOC usage 77.5% of 75kWh net capacity. Are other calculations put into this Consum. / 100km?

    We are picking up our Polestar on wednesday. We were concidering a volvo, and to be honest like the SUV style of C40 and XC40 more than the polestar, however they still really feel like cars from a previous age, while polestar really feels like an electric car the Volvos feel like fossil-cars converted to electric. What was the deal breaker though was that we ordered the car in Marsh and could get now in May, the Volvos we would have to wait until September for!

Literally only thing Koreans do better at this point is V2X charging and charging speed in those 4 months that is warm in the Nordics. :D Also when you compare apples to apples, you need to compare AWD premium to C40 to get what C40 has.
