2014 Cascadia evo. I was wondering how to connect a GPS unit. It needs constant, switched power, and ground. How do you do it without cutting any wires? Is there a connector I can tap into?
Currently going to replace this. I only have four connectors. Trying to see if there is a 5th one somewhere. Do all modules have 5 or are there some like in my case where there's 4?

Could a faulty Sam chassis cause issues in the sam cab? When I turn the key on, cab lights, turn signal, hazard lights, blower controls, wipers stop working. Also I get chs 216, ecu 128, and cab 249 codes. Any input would be greatly appreciated
Do NOT use dielectric grease. Freightliner says that is a huge no-no. They will void the SAM warranty if you do that. It also causes resistance issues.
Great video! Thank you. Would be great to hear about trouble shooting symptoms of SAM cab vs chasi vs ECU. I've lost cruise control and have rough acceleration, like when you disconnect the speedometer (Volvo).. max spd of 50mph. I have a Cascadia 2012. Can't get a Diagnostic link to work but J19 still sends all gauge and mileage data to my logging device on my cellphone. 30 min 3 key flip reset does not solve. Thx
Do your engine brakes still work? The reason I ask is because a faulty clutch switch is not that uncommon. The first step though would be to figure out why a diagnostic tool will not work. That's the best way to remove a lot of the guess work.
@@maximaleffort I'm willing to bet the clutch switch is telling the CPC that the clutch is partially depressed. That will keep both the Engine Brakes and Cruise from working.
@@TheDieseler Thank you sir! I can unplug the direct wire I put in when the clutch switch failed. (Allows me to start without holding the clutch down) Do you think maybe that is why the parking break warning is flashing when I open the door, even though the parking break is set? I believe this is keeping me from doing a parked Regen. Thank you Dieseler!
If you have a login to DTNA connect you can find it that way but if not it's located at the electronic bay which is on the passenger side, inside the cab. It's behind the fuse panel. The central gateway is all the way on the bottom
I have a 2010 freightliner cascadia and my voltmeter gauge say I have 12 volts and my battery warning light come on but my check my alternator and is 14.0 volts and my battery too if I turn my engine off 2 check engine light come on and my truck won't start and I was checking online and say my truck have a 2 sam chassis recall I check my and have water marks so I gonna take my truck to the dealership this Friday I hope they fix that Thanks for the video.

My AC cab unit doesn't send cold air and my sleeper ac PARK SMART doesn't work either. The other one is on the meritor wabco screen that reads: CAN BUS ERROR J1939 messages Check connections. What are your suggestions? I am in Oklahoma. Thank you.
It sounds like there is a problem with the 1939 Datalink. It could be something simple like a recently added eLog system problem, a malfunctioning module or a problem with the 1939 wiring. That Datalink is shared throughout the truck. If the only affected modules are the ones you've mentioned, the problem could be inside the cab.

All of these codes point to the MSF (The Hazzard Lights switch) powering down or losing communication with the vehicle. Since the MSF is powered from the SAM cab and the truck is also turning off and on, I'm guessing the problem may lie with the SAM cab.
The one code being broadcast from the SAM Chassis (CHS 71) is indicating it's lost com with the MSF. The SAM Chassis also does not power the engine. Now, that being said, it's tough to be 100% certain without being there to check things out. Basic things to check are power and ground supplies to the modules and any signs of water intrusion.

What controls the tail light marker lights? Tail lights does everything but the makers won't turn on.

The parameters and software needed to update them have to be downloaded from the DTNA/Detroit servers through DiagnosticLink.
