    Always wanted a W123,W124,W140(C140 actually).

    No worries sourcing front wheel bearings, since same common Timken SET3 & SET5 (National A3 & A5) used on older Chevy pickups, as I recall. Why they can last 300K miles in these lighter cars. I lived in Home Park 1982-2001 so recognized Howell Mill Rd right away. If anyone has a ruined hub from a spun wheel bearing, I've been trying to sell a spare hub & rotor on Sacramento cl for over a year cheap. If the "race" inside the hub is fine and smooth, best to leave it in and just change the outer rollers (cone). They are different PN's and sold separately (exc. a few packaged "sets"). There were 2 brands of calipers used - ATE and Bendix, and the parts vary (even the pads), so see which type you have before ordering. I think your calipers are ATE (wide flat pad spring vs wire spring in Bendix). Nice Euro headlamps (OE or Depo plastic?). Just sold my 1984 300D, but keeping my 1985 CA 300D.

    I have a sticking right rear caliper on my '82 240D, so ordered two new ones. New brake lines. New pads. Replacing the front pads as well. Will drain and add new fluid. I hope to have a blast, just like you guys did 😂
    You really want to have fun? Try cutting out the ignition assembly after it fails and you did not heed the obvious warning signs of....a sticky key! That happened on my '82 300D. Took 8 hours to cut it out and replace it with a new one. Fun fun....

    Just so you know. The clear vinyl on the university decal on your back window. Is supposed to be peeled off after you install the vinyl.

    This looked rather easy compared to what im gping through. I'm a week into this brake job on 83TD. Pistons stuck, lines clogged up won't pass fluid, bleaders rusted shut and can't get a socket around them.... really hell rn tbh.

    You should put the chassis member in the v of the axle stand. You ran a real risk of the car sliding off those stands when you were struggling with the brake caliper bolts.

    This is the problem with these old cars, you kind of need to just do it all while you are there. It’s rare to have Service records of any type. So do it all, one and done, then you have a baseline to go from. It can get expensive, but at least you don’t have to worry about it. It’s worth it on cars that you can put literally 100s of thousands of miles on. It’s it’s some janky American car, then who cares, lol
