ZippyC FPV The old days of RC were awesome. I remember sitting on the ground with a fishing tacklebox with just a few tools in it, working on my Tamiya Falcon to race around a small tri-oval that was part of the local BMX track.
that does look like a lot of fun to build and bash around with.. I have a dt-03 on the way for me and my little girl to build and use in the back yard, if she enjoys the dt-03 ill get one of thses Tamiya Comical cars for her as a first rc.. tamiya do make some cool kits to build up
Good stuff! Reminds me of the old days and my Grasshopper. In the current state of the world you just cant beat an RC to keep you occupied. I luckily have several acres to play around on but for someone with no space you could even have fun with this by rearranging your living room or apartment and have a blast. 👍👍😎😎✌✌
I bought one of those 1/24 comical Lunch Box kits you did a review of a while ago for keeping myself amused during this time. Its so much fun, even my little dog loves chasing it around the kitchen floor lol.
Been bashing my dhk zombie, Bison V3, Remo Hobby Evo-R, and Proline pro Mt 4x4 on my 25 acres of land. Been changing out pinions to the biggest I can fit and just watching um fly.
Thanks for the video! I'm beginning to build my Comical Frog, what would you think is the sweet spot for motors, not so fast as to be uncontrollable? Or should I just stay stock since I will be using a 2s lipo anyhow?
I know it's been 3 years since. Buy Tamiya or equivalent generic brand quality 24/25 turn pinion set. The 28/29 turn set gives squirreling (speed wobbles).
I'm sorry, I dont see the attraction in styling, let alone for 250. Cool video though. I love the editing and time lapse that you did. It was just the right amount. Good job.
Budrick3Gaming It’s $155 for the kit. If you have electronics, you’re good to go. The styling is based on the original Tamiya kits, brought back on a fun chassis so people can have simple fun in RC. Thanks, it was neat to try something a little different with the edit!
It is rather costly for what it is, the kit should be $50 I feel. You can get RC cars from Banggood that are equal or better RTR for the cost of just the kit ($150). You are paying for the name and the nostalgic factor, and people who don't relate to Tamiya from their youth will stay away. Even the looks...only a Tamiya fan will like the looks. If any other manufacturer came out with this vehicle, even if they made it better, people would just say "WTF is this?!"
@@Vaterraman Amazing how people jump on Tamiya for pricing, but it's ok for Kyosho to sell for more money and you have to buy the motor and ESC. BTW Banggood are typical chine junk. Most fall apart rather quickly. Tamiya will be around a lot longer.
for 20 more dollars you could get the 1/8 arrma typhon mega with everything you need to run including battery and charger. way better deal IMO. this we be good for a little girl though, but a little pricey.
For 250 bucks you can get allot nicer kits you Could get a stampede 4x4 even . But these remind me of the early 90s so much like the timiya lunch box lol
THEIRISHAXE Yup, certainly a lot available for $250, the kit itself is just $155. But better is based on opinion. To some a kit like this will bring back nostalgic memories in a fun new style of kit and to them it’s worth the cost.
I had the exact same thought... I ordered a dt03 kit and some hopup parts last week and with everything going on right now, all the shipping is being delayed several weeks 😭 Oh well, itll be fun to build when it does show up!
ReDwIrE 93 Still waiting for warmer weather to give it a fair shake. Been high 30’s, low 40’s on the days I’ve had available to test it. I want to get back out with it asap.
Nice video! I'm a complete newcomer tho the RC car world, and I was curious: apart from the nostalgia factor, do TAMIYA kits really have something special? Because they look really overpriced to me for what they really offer. I recently got a Wltoys 14401 and ok, it's chinese, it's a clone of a TA buggy, but for 70 bucks it comes RTR with metal underplate, oil shocks, battery and charger and I had heaps of fun bashing it around the garden.
Henry Triplette Welcome to the hobby! There’s a lot more that goes into pricing a vehicle than “To me it looks like”. Most Tamiya kits are priced fair and yes there’s a lot available out there from other brands. When it comes down to it, get what appeals to you. Tamiya has been around since the beginning of RC, they support the hobby, they make good kits and strive to offer a wide range of products for all types of enthusiasts. Are they for everyone, no. But many people enjoy them.
Not to forget Tamiya also sells spare parts, upgrades/hopups and lot of aftermarket third party stuff. ONe small issue with these china wonderland 70 dollar buggies is the plastic quality(as in can be brittle, or the metal part qualioty isnt excellent), sometime hard or impossible to find spares or upgrades/hopups.
I drove a comical grasshopper and actually got bored of driving it. The wheelie aspect is fun. But it's like driving a toy from Walmart that handles a little better. Just didn't do it for me.
Robert NES816 It’s not for everyone. I like just sitting on the stairs of my back porch and just driving it back and forth and around my kids toys that they never seem to pick up. Kinda relaxing and fun.
Street Blue I ran it full throttle into a tree, into a rock wall and a cement wall. Didn’t break anything. But if you have to have aluminum parts, yes Tamiya and a few aftermarket companies make parts.
The best part is the time spent building these awesome kit! Great job on the retro paint scheme ✌🏼😎👍🏼
Hit this one out of the park!!! Tears of nostalgia from the fun I used to have back in the day!!! 😎👍

I'll be building my comical frog shortly.
I decided to go ahead and build trail course in my yard.when completed I'll send you a pic.keep those videos coming.i enjoy learn alot from them

I would like to see a Lunchbox done in the comical series also!
Reminds me of my Tamiya Blackfoot I had back in the early 90's
Wow you build that RC from the ground up that's AMAZING great video man
Bashir Johnson Yup! Tamiya has great instructions for newcomers to the hobby.
@@rcdriver dude you make it so easy to put it together man you making me wanting to get an RC.car again

No one with a build video on this mentions the chassis parts are all grey! Making this quite unique.
Don’t have and Tamiya vehicles but would love to get a cold buster! Recently bought a SMT10 and now I am hooked on the solid axle monster trucks!
The Wright RC Did you see the new Black Edition Clodbuster? Looks awesome!
RCDriver_Online yes I did! That would be the one I would get for sure. Would you consider doing a build video on it?

Does anyone know if this comes with window masks?
Do they show you how to take apart the gearbox so you can pull bearings in it?
Yes, they do have that in the instruction manual and it's not that hard to do. I put a ball bearing kit in my comical frog.
I am a little late to this review, but it is great.
I need that hat 👀
Hoping to win that RC auction tomorrow so I can prepare to go have some fun.

Nubar Gaming Waiting on a part. It’s coming!
RCDriver_Online awesome I bought a trx-4 sport about 2 weeks ago and I love this build can wait to see it done :)
Same chassis as the wild willy 2?
Yup WR-02.
You just complete 100,000 subscribers and get silver play button good luck

You should do a shop tour while the quarantine is going on. I know that you've done one before but it has been awhile.
Trax RC Did the shop tour about a month ago. Not much has changed except for less review cars in the To-do pile.
