These Comicals have a flavor of their own. Tamiya now has 5? different models, worthy to add to collection all by themselves.
Good presentation and like all the hop ups.

These are awesome indeed! I don’t have these two specific model variants, but the Honda City Turbo WR-02c variant and VW T1 van on the ‘regular’ WR-02 chassis. The WR-02c is more suited for onroad use, still has a lot of grip, so will traction roll quite easily. The VW T1 van version has bigger offroad style chevron tires which a bit less grip onroad so won’t cause it to flip over too easily but will do better offroad obviously :)

It would have been really comical if the Hornet came with oli shocks in the rear and friction shocks in the front.
It is possible to use smaller lipo batteries in these cars. You can make a foam pad that is roughly shaped like an old nimh battery and cut out the inside of it so the pad will hold the smaller lipo in place. I made one for my Type 2 wheelie. The downside about it is that the car will loose some weight in the rear. Mine seem to spin it's tires a bit more and it takes a little more care to get the front wheels up. But this may also just be caused by 8 years old tires.

Did you use a Lipo for the Grasshopper with a Sport Tuned Motor? I find that it drains the battery a LOT faster than the stock motor.

  • @duder280z

My beginning was in 86-87 with a generic knock off of the grass hopper. I forget the manufacture, but it was a Rock Buster. Anyone remember who made that?

Do you think that using the HR GF02 arms that also fit the WR02 will cause it to be too unstable? It only shrinks the arms by about 10 mm per side. I was unaware the wr-02 arms were shorter when I purchased them. What do you think?

Hello Everyone I have a few questions on the Tamiya Comical Grasshopper I too as a kid built the original Tamiya kits, Grasshopper, Hornet, and my brother built the Falcon . On this spinoff design of the Grasshopper, the Comical Grasshopper. Are they design well enough not to flip over as easy as some of the old models did in the past .Do the fat tires in the front and rear design of the Comical help keep it on the ground from tipping over at speeds while in a turn or do they flip over the same as the old Tamiya trucks did as some seamed to be
top heavy . How robust are the Comical cars vs the old cars . Any help appreciated as I am looking for a good gift idea for my nephew any insight on the Comical cars would be great .

    Hi sir.
I m still new in rc.
If may i ask, what is the running time for this car if it is powered by Nimh 5000mAh?
Next, if i would like to choose LiPo battery, what is the other suitable electronic to purchase(ESC, servo etc.)?
Appreciate your kind to give me some advise.

Hey man quick question, I just scored a 6s 1900 kv ztw sensored brushless motor there's a guy on eBay closed his buisness and is selling all his equipment cheap I just got this sensored motor for 27 dollars! Is this a good motor have your ever heard of it? It looks good on paper I can't believe I got it for so cheap he had a bunch for sale for this price until they are all gone so I had to grab one. Have u ever used a ztw motor? Thanks! 👍

    • @Mark_5150
      @Mark_5150 4 года назад

I use a smaller LiPo, an Ovonic 2200mah 50c and 3D printed a tray to adapt it to fit in the battery compartment. It works good because it's a lot lighter so it wheelies and rolls less. I also swapped out the ESC for a Hobbywing Justock and have a Hobbywing V10 G3 21.5 motor in it and still get 30 minute+ run times at 10-11mph on a GPS with the stock tires.
I also swapped out all 4 wheels and tires for some from an old stadium truck and it works a lot better as well. Runs and turns great in the grass.
I'm wondering what turn brushless the transmission can handle, the motor limits Tamiya lists are for their ESC, I'm sure the car can handle more.
