YES. The restaurant exists. It is called Medieval Times and there are about 10 of them in the US. Dinner is basically food you could eat in the 1100's (except the drinks of course) and I can't remember if you get forks and knives or if you have to use your fingers. Each section has a knight they cheer for, the dinner and show lasts about an hour or two. Kind of lame and cool at the same time. Still, it is a lot of fun. They have a great gift shop where you can buy all sorts of stuff like costumes, swords and shields. Totally worth going at least once. The Excalibur hotel in Las Vegas does something similar. I think they have something similar in Europe, Medieval Taverns of Prague. Dinner theatre.
You do eat with your hands lol. I love everything about it.

Jim Carrey's character "Chip Douglas" was one of the sons on a 1960's sitcom called My Three Sons.

I went to the Medieval Times in California a few years ago and it was super fun.
I remember an interview with Henry Rollins in which he said he didn't like Jim Carry's movies save one. This one. The Cable Guy.
And i believe the reason was because the subject matter was interesting. Which is really is. A LOT of kids were raised by their Television Sets.
16:29 this scene was completely improv from Jim Carey and Matthew Broderick had no clue he was going to do that. The director loved it and kept it in.
Fun fact: the actor who plays the police officer at the party is the same one whoe played the police officer who gets his face ripped in "Silence of the Lambs", which is the very scene Carrey's character is referencing when he puts the chicken skin on his face.
He was the cop who got bashed with the night stick. I think it was the one he bit that lost his face but can't be certain.

We even have Medieval Times in Canada. I went to the one in Toronto as a kid during a school trip, and it was awesome. There are no knives or forks. You eat with your hands.

Hello ladies,
i was veru curious how you would react to this one where Jim is the antagonist. I also learned that Michelle can sing! I remember she used to barely talk at all in the beginnings of the channel and now she has flowered and does agreat job. And of course, I love Ellie with her sensitive heart and fun attitude. Medievel Times is a real restaurant with a show. I do nto think they allow the customers to fight though, lol. The music during their fight scene is actuall from the Star Trek original TV show when there was a hand to hand fight. Ricky Ricardo was the fictional husband on the old TV show I Love Lucy. Played by Desi Arnez, who was the actor and real life husband of Lucille Ball (Lucy). Also, I just realized a weird tie in... Their support was the main reason that the StarTrek TV show was picked up for production. Anyway thanks for the reaction, love y'all!

I’m from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and went to Medieval Times as a kid. The first time I was three and I was so scared everything was real that I was screaming and crying in the lobby. Cool place tho, maybe just once to check it out if adult.
Such a great movie. Favorite is definitely the jousting scene with Jim singing the Kirk vs Spock theme.

This movie was ahead of it’s time. Jim Carrey did do Horror movie it’s called The Number 23. It would be nice to see someone react to that overlooked work of art

Yes There was a restaurant chain called Medieval Times. I went to one many years ago by me but it has closed not sure if they still exist.
I went to see this movie in theatres when it came out and really liked it. It's crazy that a lot of critics didn't like it because they thought it was too dark and they weren't used to seeing Jim Carrey in a role like this. I'm glad to see people today "rediscovering" this film and apparently really enjoying it.
It's a "Dark Comedy". Ironic as well because the "90's" were dark. Grunge anyone ?

This is honestly one of Jim's funniest movies...it's amazing that this was initially panned when it came out and some people didn't like it because it was too "dark." LOL. It's absolutely brilliant from start to finish.
Yes medieval times exists, i live 10 minutes from one in buena park, California next to knotts berry farm theme park. And its one of the greatest restaurants iv ever been to.

The restaurant medieval times really does exist here in the US but in only a few big cities. I'm not sure if it's international though.

This is a very watchable movie. I hadn't seen Cable Guy believe it or not in the late 90's. This is one of the ony Jim Carey films I had never seen. The jokes are really funny "I didn't know this was going to be prison rules." when Jim's character forces his way into Mathew Brodericks life when he and his friends were playing basketball.
