The Number 23 is a underrated jim carrey movie where hes serious. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is also a very good movie with Jim. There is also the Truman Show.

You are awesome for reacting to this. This film deserves waaaaaaay more attention than it receives. Directed by Stiller, starring Jim Carrey, and little sprinkles of Jack Black, Owen Wilson and Leslie Mann. Golden!

Although we don't learn the verdict in the film, the novelization strongly implies Sam Sweet was found guilty for the murder of his brother Stan.
While the movie's final gross of just over $60 million domestically and $102 million worldwide was much less than the other Jim Carrey movies released in 1994 and late 1995, the movie cost $47 million to make and didn't use a major marketing campaign. The idea that the movie had been a disaster was widely circulated by rival studios and production companies because they were angry that Columbia set a higher market for star salaries by giving Carrey $20 million to star in it.

a few years after this movie came out he did the Truman show which was still kinda dark comedy but his role had more depth, then after that he did the Andy Kaufman biopic Man on the Moon. then his most well known dramatic role Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I think there's a few others. Cable Guy is weird lol hard to categorize, not sure if i'd consider it his first dramatic role, but it let him explore his range and maybe helped him land those later more serious roles

Finally got to watch. Great reaction, as usual! Saw another commentor talk about the tv trial, but failed to mention it was a spoof of the Menendez Brothers murder trial, which was a huge U.S. pop culture phenomenon. The "prototype" leading up to the O.J. Simpson murders/trial that would soon follow. Also, the movie "Midnight Express" referenced is a Classic but hardcore. Its based on a true story about an Amercan getting busted trying to smuggle hash out of Turkey & got busted & locked up in a Turkish prison. The guy's girlfriend visited him & pressed her breasts againt the glass!😅
