      @@503945158 I bought a 2008. 83k miles. Very well maintained. And no, the front grill of this car isn't ugly. I don't get the whole front grill argument. Absolutely love the Lexus. For me personally everything is precision spot on! My only zonk is one of the things that you like, it's the open front end grill. I'm just not feeling it and I'll tell you why. If I owned one of these beautiful sedans I would be a nervous wreck worrying about someone bumping into it while they were trying to back out of their parking space let's say at my favorite restaurant. Without any type of bumper to protect it I just see my Lexus all jacked up because they miss judged the distance. I know that styling is really nice but please just some type of front end bumper lol. I know that a lot of people are going to think that I'm crazy but that's just me. Great job Joe, hopefully one day I'll be able to afford a car like this.

Car was definitely garaged, I’m the second owner and it’s flawless, Pearl White w. Black leather. Mine has the premium package, I don’t have the full blacked out roof ( would love it though. It’s solid like a tank and quiet like a vault.
    Mine has the same V-6, but only rated at 268 hp. it’s quick but no 5.9 sec 0-60!!!!? Think mine is 7 seconds. Just changed the oil & filter for the first time with mobile one synthetic, I’m good for 7,500 miles. Did it myself with car ramps. I bought it from a car dealership in north Jersey

The ES never had a daytime running light separated from the headlight unit, that was and is the current IS design. It was never a design the Lexus used for the ES.

    A well done comprehensive review. This car is very nice with a custom looking interior, the exhaust diffusers don't bother me. I am not a big fan of the rotary knobs on the instrument panel pod, they just look like an afterthought. I may be nit picking but the rear trunk hinges are also a bit cheesy for this price point they just have a cover over them instead of being integrated into a trim panel like most luxury vehicles. Additionally what happened to under hood lights, seems like you have to buy a $100k car/truck to get them.

      I'm actually happy that lexus has so many physical buttons and knobs. It is so much simpler to just press something once instead of going into the infotainment settings and spend 1 minute searching for it. Simpler design almost always comes at a cost of convenience. Just look at tesla. It's an absolute mess. And look at honda civics. Their removal of tuning and volume knobs almost created a worldwide riot.

My best description is , its a couch on wheels. It’s luxury though out. Well appointed. I just kept feeling the lack of weight in the rear. When they make it an AWD ,it still will not fill the gap the GS owners experience. But a beautiful car and point on review .

    Great review Joe !! As always... As you know i have a 2013 ES350, not with 36k miles.. I have the Luxury package (not Ultra)... missing some goodies and different dash and exterior panels, but the same smooth V6... Love it.. my hp rating is only 258 but i think it was under-rated for insurance reasons (maybe). Definitely feels like more than 258 hp.. My only ZONK is the rear seats don’t fold down in my 2013 (and still don’t). Not a fan of the ‘mouse’ style interface which I have. Best is this V6 only requires Regular gas and I’m getting great mileage... if I’m cruising on the highway, the graph gauge on the dash shows 40 mpg (updates every 60 seconds). Will never own another SUV, yes the cargo space is great, but they suck at gas mileage... My old BMW X5 was a pig, barely got 12 mpg around town

    If I was in the market for a cushy luxury car, it would come down to the Lexus ES350 F-sport, or Genesis G80 sport. I actually think with the exception of the LC, that the ES350 has the best interior styling out of all the Lexus models. I love the large tach and digital speedo in the center. I especially like the graphic changes when entering different drive modes. The exterior profile and rear styling look great. I don't share the same opinion you do on the grill though. I think that large spindle is a mess and disrupts the otherwise nice flow of the lines. The DRLs are much better integrated now though. If I was looking for this size vehicle, I might even consider it's platform mate, the Avalon, in TRD trim. Great review Joe, thank you. Oh yeah, cd player, really? Lol

    • @xFlared
      @xFlared 5 лет назад +5

      Why sport? Their suspension is more rigid and the wheels kill the ride quality. If you want a cushy luxury you'd want to stick to 17s always and never touch anything sport. In addition the "sport" labels are just too cheesy and overused. Fake vents, spoilers, and other gimmicks that do absolutely nothing.

    • @wbwayne8887
      @wbwayne8887 5 лет назад

      Actually I meant cushy in comparison to some sport minded suspensions. I still like more of a sport feel. Pretty sure both the ES350 F-sport and the G80 sport would make for the perfect handling/ride balance. For me anyway.

      @@wbwayne8887 I understand but to me personally sport trims on lexuses is similar to those sporty trims on older camrys and corollas that had spoilers and aggressive bumpers with no difference to internals. Just seems pointless in terms of function. Aesthetically to those that don't care about cars it may look good.

    People complain about the grill and this years grill is a totally different design and I happen to like it VERY MUCH. This new grill is vertical instead of the horizontal design. This reviewer actually mentions the horizontal style. Maybe more people will like the change, but I’m not sure. I also wanted to add this is an excellent reviewer, IMO, because he reviews the features of the car and NOT things the car doesn’t have like AWD. A noted English reviewer keeps comparing this model to German models with AWD and degrades the ES. The MB E cost is almost double to this, plus this car is not promoted as a sporty diving car. So it’s not a fair comparison and I suspect he is paid in some way by BWM and MB.

    You actually have to ask how good this car is? The F Sports are awesome, but even with the brand's known Toyota based reliability, the F Sports, and the V8 engines are expensive, and harder to work on. The V6 or I4 engines are much more problem free, reliable, and less expensive maintenance. But more sport oriented drivers like me may not go with the luxury trims.
    This is expensive. The ES used to be based on the Camry, I guess they went to a bigger platform. For the price, you know I would get the Avalon TRD.

The ES 350 is quieter under hard acceleration, when even an extra 3-layer insulation sandwich at the ES 300h's firewall can't fully smother the din from the 4-cylinder engine straining at high RPMs.
